Jade frowned. The Pidove had just gotten out of the way! As Mithos was comically tossed back, spinning in midair from the gust, she got an idea. Aerial Ace had yet to miss... it must be more accurate than Tackle.
"Conversion and Aerial Ace," she ordered just as her Porygon was righting himself from the Gust attack.
Mithos's form instantly started to change, becoming re-textured with feathery patterns that would actually feel like feathers to the touch. His edges stayed nice and sharp, though. He turned to watch the Pidove, and locked on to a spot behind it.
Even with the distance, he covered it in a split second, holding one polygon "foot" out to slice air and possibly pigeon.

Growl on Porygon (Defense -3) This strange... machine? he was fighting was a bit of a turn off. Another male. Or practically a male. Another little bitty turn off was when he was smacked with his huge geometrically shaped blue foot/wing thing. It hit him on the shoulder/side of his face and nearly knocked him out of the sky. He dropped down towards the ground and lost control of his body. It was by luck more than anything else that he didn't crash to the frozen winter ground. Without gaining full control back of his flight he looked over his shoulder and let out a fierce growl at the creature who had just attacked him. How in the world a bird growls I will never know. Probably the same way a Diglett scratches.

Mithos would have frowned if his features allowed it. Again with the... not terribly impressive moves that his programming accepted as sufficient. He could feel the edges of his body de-sharpening automatically when the sound of the bird-growl reached him.
Jade was having none of this.
"Now, Sharpen and Aerial Ace," she said, determined to see... well, sense... this bird out cold on the ground. Natalia, still on her shoulder, watched with interest. While pretending to be uninterested, of course. She couldn't just be all "omg what is happening".
The Porygon instantly re-sharpened his body, and as this completed, he turned to see where the Pidove was now, locking on for another attack.

Jade's ears twitched, hearing the beginning of another wind attack.
"Mithos, get out of the way and then tackle that loser," Jade said, smirking. Her vengeance for being hit on was nearly complete. Man, she just couldn't stand guys who were only interested in relationships. She would much rather make normal friends... or have someone totally obedient to her in a not-relationshippy way.
Like Mithos.
Speaking of the Porygon, he had swooped aside and the Gust missed him as soon as she had said that. He "charged" (more like hovered forward quickly) at the Pidove, kind of hoping this would be the end of it. He didn't really want to keep this up.

The Pidove panted. He couldn't keep this up much longer. A anger rose up inside of him when his move failed to hit the Porygon. His eye twitched and he angrily flapped his wings. <WHAT! No fair! I demand a rematch! Cheater, cheater!> He cried. Of course, he was just a sore loser. However, what he didn't see, was that something was coming for him and...BAM. The Porygon's body Tackled into him, causing him to fall on his back and stare up at the sky blankly. <I...will...get...you...for...this!...ack...> The Pidove tried to yell out his words, but it ended up coming in short gasped out words instead. Soon, he was out cold. His wings sprawled out to his side and his eyes closed. Would you really want a Pokemon like this? Some ego you would have to take care of.

[Can Rufflet have something for the first half of the battle?]
A red beam of light shot out, and Mithos vanished inside his Pokeball.
"You were awesome, Mithos," Jade said, grinning at the sphere in her hand before putting it away. She could sense the aura of the unconscious Pidove on the ground. Let's see here... she already had a perfectly good bird Pokemon that didn't have ego problems. No thank you. The Pokemorph walked around the Pidove, nearly tripped on a tree root, and kept walking for a bit. She was a bit worn down from all this random stuff, though... maybe she should stop and take a break. Yup, she should definitely stop and take a break.
She stopped under a particularly tall tree, and took the opportunity to let all of her Pokemon out so they could rest too. Karol hadn't met Natalia, and once the Bug-type was reassured that Karol wasn't going to eat her and, in fact, knew no Flying-type moves to maul her with, the two of them got along fairly well. Mithos was not exactly the conversational type, so he rested on the ground and watched the others.
Once Jade was feeling better, she recalled everyone but Natalia, who was still on lookout duty, and placed the bug on her shoulder in preparation for more adventure.
Took a rest break.

::combee:: COMBEE APPEARED ! A Combee wavered through the chilly air as he searched for a flower, any flower, to collect honey from. Little did he know that this was the wrong season to even try to get pollen and that the rest of his buddies were all clustered together in the hive to keep warm. The little bee was bound to freeze later for utter lack of common sense.
But for now, he was just acting silly. He hummed a jolly tune to himself as he flew around, nearing Jade and her Sewaddle. <Someday I'll be a Vespiquen, and all my fellow bees will bow to me~> It rhymed only a bit, but that was good enough for him. He continued to hum as he flew, shivering. <Good day!> He said to the trainer as he went past.

The random little Combee fluttered by, and Jade heard him say "Good day!" as he passed.
What a polite little thing. She sure hoped he would make it back home okay.
"Good day to you too," she said as they passed each other. She kept on walking, letting him go off and do whatever a little Combee that is randomly outside in winter normally does.
<If he was any other bug type, he'd totally be my type,> Natalia whispered into her trainer's ear. The two girls giggled a bit. Ah, girl moments.

The male Combee was quite happy to receive the greeting, missing the Sewaddle's comments as he buzzed off obliviously. As far as he was concerned, he was still a pretty girl that couldn't be a potential mate to anyone such as the Sewaddle. Mostly due to the worm's gender, which has caused problems for the Combee in the past as several females had tried to flirt with him. As he buzzed off, another Pokemon was set up on the side of the path. A cardboard box was flipped over to act as a substitute table as several cards were stacked on the table.
He whistled over for the trainer to come up to him, interested in making a bet with her. <Hey, miss. Are you up for a gamble?> The Rattata's teeth were crooked and a bit yellow, as if he hadn't taken care of his appearance in a while. He was definitely a wild Rattata, no matter how you looked at him. He purposely messed up his own fur in order to look a bit more pathetic, all an attempt to gather sympathy from everyone that bothered to notice him.
<You wouldn't mind a game o' cards, would ye?> He asked her, wondering if he'd be able to take something from her. It would've been nice, yes, especially since he enjoyed this game anyways. It was of course, rigged, and with made him seem a lot cleverer than he really was. Would his secret be found out though?

Jade's ears caught the rat Pokemon's whistle, and she turned to hear him better and focus on his aura. As the Rattata asked Jade if she wanted to play cards, she walked a bit closer.
"Umm..." She tilted her head a bit. Those cards... all seemed the exact same to her. She couldn't even tell if they were facing up or down, even though she could faintly sense their outlines. "I'm gonna have to pass on cards. I'm blind, so I'd have no idea if I was winning or not."
<You look like a real mess,> Natalia said from her perch on Jade's shoulder, chuckling a bit. <Is this some kind of business for you?>

At first the Rattata didn't know what to make of the girl; blind? Was that a true story, or was that simply a poor excuse to avoid playing his game? He had an eye set out on her vision, staring at her eyes as she seemed a little unfocused. She was able to recognize the direction of where he was, and where his cards were, but he had a hard time discerning whether she was telling the truth or not. <Interesting, I wouldn't of known until you told me.> He commented with a stare at her, paws playing around with the cards as he thought of what to try next.
How could he gamble her out of her stuff now, when he had only rehearsed the card routine? He wasn't prepared for this one, though the Sewaddle gave him the time by talking to him. With a bit of a blush, he looked down at himself in embarrassment. He was a mess; though he wished she wouldn't say it so bluntly. <It is. When trainers lose, they give me food. When I lose, I either give them what I have, or they get information.> What kind of information could that be?
He waited to see if he had them hooked yet, just in case they changed their minds. Since he was a rat, he had a bit of a talent for sniffing things out in the route. He knew the Pokemon, the names, the places, and the events. He could probably give her information on any particular Pokemon she wanted in the area.

Jade's ears twitched slightly. It was fairly typical for folks, Pokemon included, not to be able to tell if she was blind on sight... but darnit, they always seemed to doubt her! She was no lying Rattata... no offense to this guy, of course.
Natalia, meanwhile, was thinking. This rat had probably rigged the game. If they did win, though, the benefits would be useful for sure.
<Hey, Jade, what do you think? I don't think there'd be any harm in letting me and Mithos play. We can wager something fairly small so it's not a huge loss if we lose,> the Sewaddle said. She left the or if it's rigged unspoken, but Jade got the drift. She let out her Porygon, and Natalia let herself down, going over.
<Alright, we'll play. I'm the only one of our whole group with both eyes and hands, so I'll be managing. Mithos here will be the one actually playing. We have a Cheri Berry we can afford to lose, and some dental floss, which you look like you could use, so that'll be our wager. What kind of game are we talking here?> the Bug-type said, dragging the Porygon over.

Seeing the items put out for display, the Rattata let out an amused smile at the sight of the dental floss. Even he could use something like that around, especially when it came to building things like his nest. It was bound to be worth it; now all he had to do was explain the game to them, and it was a simple one. He shuffled his deck around with his paws, looking skilled as if he had practiced this many times. Cards shuffled as he spread them out for the Pokemon to see, he nodded at the Sewaddle and Porygon and went to explain the rules.
<All you have to do is play a guessing game with me. Pick a card, one card. Pick wisely, and don't tell me what it is.> The Rattata's ears twitched as he recalled the speech that he said many times in the past. He tried to keep his games simple to understand, while still managing to rig it in his favor in some way. All according to plan.
<If I can guess the number and suit, then I win. If I guess wrong, then you win.> That was all there was to it, and even better, the Sewaddle had a witness. She couldn't lie about the card she had in her possession. Now the trick here for him was to look carefully at the back of the cards, which had been all been dented and scratched in some way. It was an old, dirty pack, but he memorized each marking. It usually worked out for him, which was why he was willing to make gambles like this.

<Sounds easy enough,> Natalia said. Jade just "watched", observing the auras. Huh... this game did seem like even she could have played if she just had one of her Pokemon tell her what it was. Then again, this rat guy might overhear something like that.
He was kind of amusing, actually. Even if he was cheating at this, which she assumed he totally was, he wasn't a bad kind of rat, just a normal rat being, well, ratty.
Mithos watched while Natalia drew a card, and brought it over to show the Porygon, turning slightly away from the Ratatta. They both could see that it was the 6 of diamonds.

The Rattata was amused at the situation being displayed to him, realizing that the Porygon had one of the toughest faces to crack ever. Not that he needed a face, or even the reflection of the eyeballs to see what card the took from him. Though he didn't expect the Porygon to be the one playing his game, he could only grin as he recognized the angle of the slashes on the card, as well as the small bent upper left corner. It was a system that he knew fairly well, which made him grin even wider.
<6 of diamonds.> He declared, but he wasn't done with the game yet, if they chose to admit that he was right. He'd give them another chance to keep their stuff, just to amuse them and keep them stalling even longer. Besides, he was positive that they wanted some kind of information from him. He might've been a rat, but he enjoyed giving hints to those that put up with him after a while.

The Rattata was pleased when his guess was correct, but the Porygon didn't return the card to him just yet. He hesitated when the normal type started scanning the card with its eyes, looking for clues to how he could've guessed correctly. With an annoyed face, the Rattata stared up at the normal type with a bewildered look. That was the trick--exactly! He didn't want to say that it was it though, even if he won and managed to keep their stuff.
<Are you sure that's how I did it?> He asked with a questioning stare towards the Porygon. He decided to have some fun with this and kept his main secret hidden, even though it was technically out in the open. <You see, I looked into your eyes.> He commented, pointing at the Porygon with a grin. <The reflection of the card was in it.> Now, no one besides him was paying attention to the Porygon's eyes. He saw that they were either on himself, or the card in question.
<I'm also fairly well known for my mind reading skills...> The Rattata boasted, but he wasn't very willing to get into that. He peeked up at them again to see how they reacted, grinning either way as he said that. <Tell you what; I'll give you a chance to win your stuff back. Pick another card, if you lose, nothing happens. If I lose, you get your stuff back. While Natalia paused, glancing at Mithos to check if the Porygon's eyes actually were reflective, Mithos silently stared for a moment. His guess must have been right on... no decent gambler would give away their secret and then challenge them to another game.
<We will accept your challenge for another game,> Mithos said, surprising both Jade and the Sewaddle. What they had to lose was fairly inconsequential, all things considered, and the swindler rodent seemed to like them. He doubted they could beat the Rattata at his own game, though... nobody had hands large enough to cover the back of the card so that the Rattata couldn't see it. Except Jade, who was blind anyways.
The Sewaddle went to get another card. She wasn't sure if Mithos was right, or the Rattata was right, but she figured she might as well act as if they both were.
Natalia drew another card, this time being a bit quicker with it so the Rattata had a shorter window in which to glimpse the full back- he still could if he was quick, but she used her orange foot... hand... appendage? to cover up a portion of the back of the card. Unless this particular card had its characteristic damage on the edges, there was a chance he might miss it. A gamble on everyone's part here.
Mithos took the moment to glance and see that the card presented to him was the Jack of Clubs. He then looked up to watch the Rattata's reaction rather than keeping an eye on the cards.
Man. He and Natalia sure made a good team. They would totally have to double-battle together sometime.

::rattata:: Level 4 - Male Run Away - Guts Tackle||Tail Whip||Quick Attack Knows how to survive - Swindler - Deceiver Boom Baby Rattata was extremely fortunate. Face cards were incredibly easy to identify if you knew your deck well enough. Each suit had slight different details on it. General colors, what way the face was looking, what it was holding, etc. As long as he could catch a glimpse of it in some reflection. He was excited when he saw the flash of a male face in the Porygon's eyes. He hid his excitement very well, a skilled manipulator, but there wasn't any way he could hide where he was looking except to make his look as quick as theirs had been and hope that he could make the right guess. Rattata knew the deck. "Jack...." He said quickly, but took a second to decide on the suit. He wasn't looking at the back of the card... there wasn't any identifier there anyways because he had tried so hard to memorize the face cards based only on seeing their reflections. "... of Clubs." He said with a smile and immediately looked smug. He stood up on his back legs and crossed his arms over his chest. Was it technically swindling if he wasn't actually gaining anything by winning?
