Serena lifted a hand to her face, shielding her eyes from the bright sun as she carefully picked her way down Route 1. She was a bit nervous about all of this, especially meeting new Pokémon and getting attached again. Anything could happen... and she didn't like that uncertain feeling.
Shoving her not-so-happy thoughts to the back of her head, she pulled out Opal's pokeball and carefully ran her hand over it. Maybe it was time to let Opal out... the little Starly had probably recovered by now, right?
Looking around quickly, Serena carefully released Opal from the confining pokeball, a tiny smile working its way onto her lips as she looked down at the small bird.
"Hi there..." she said softly.
"Hi! You must be my new trainer... or at least that's what that stiff old Gardevoir said, I think!"
Serena was a bit taken back by the chipper tone to the Starly's voice, but she smiled down at it and nodded. "Yes, I am... if you want me to be, that is."
Opal bounced in place a few times and fluttered up to Serena's shoulder. "I get a choice? I've never heard of that happening before! You seem nice, I like you."

The sound of a spring contracting and unfurling echoed through the route as the tiny pig attached to the spring bounced through the cold, keeping his fat little body protected from the sheer cold that threatened to penetrate his chubby grey hide. After a particularly high bounce, he caught sight of a Trainer and her Starly, and the thought of the Starly keeping him warm on these harsh winter nights was certainly an enticing one. That was it. This Starly was his now! Battling against the wind which, though light to a human, could blow he or his shimmering pink pearl away, he slowly drew closer to the Trainer and her starter, letting loose small squeaks as he went. Finally getting close enough to try to grab the feathered Pokemon, he performed his highest bounce yet, zooming through the air with a squeal, his stubby grey arms, comprised mostly of fat, reaching out in an attempt to grab the Starly from her Trainer's shoulder and make off with her. Yes! This snuggly Starly would make the perfect comfort blanket for the young piglet. ::spoink::

Serena jumped back with a gasp as she noticed the bouncing grey Spoink reaching for Opal. She winced slightly as she felt her Starly's claws dig into her shoulder for a grip, and motioned towards the ground, hoping she would get the picture.
Opal fluttered to the ground next to Serena, catching sight of the little pig bouncing near them. "Excuse me, Mr. Spoink. Just what do you think you're doing?"
Serena smiled at Opal's tone, drawing her arms around her torso as a particularly strong burst of wind tore at her sleeves and skirt. Maybe she could just let Opal do what she wanted, see how the little bird handled things... and step in if things got bad, of course.

As the wind blew, Spoink gripped his pearl as it started to roll off his head pouch, and blinked at the Starly's question. What was he doing? Well... he had thought that would be obvious. But he would explain anyway, just in case the pair were a bit thick. >Well... I'm trying to take you,< said the Spoink in a rather matter of fact tone. >You're mine now,< he bounced in the air to keep his tiny heart beating as he spoke. With that said, he did a rolling leap, using his spring for momentum as it touched the gelid ground, another joyful squeal escaping his lips at the thought of a soft Starly pillow sending him to sleep every night.

Serena was starting to feel just a little bit bad for the little Spoink as the wind nearly knocked his pearl right off his head... that is, until he tried to reach for Opal again.
"Opal... maybe you could try a Growl, to start?" Serena suggested gently.
Opal stepped forward, ruffling her feathers. This was her chance, her time to show Serena what she was made of. "Okay!" Opal narrowed her eyes at the little grey pig and sent a Growl at him, trying to sound ferocious.
::starly:: used Growl.

Spoink recoiled from the Growl at first, a little intimidated. A growling pillow wasn't quite as attractive as a silent one, and he had to think for a brief moment before he came up with a solution. It could be an alarm clock! Spoink let out a satisfied squeak at the idea and gained a spring in his step. More so. He was a genius. A pillow that doubled as an alarm clock would be an easy and worthwhile venture for little Spoink. He just had to make it come with him first. And it kept flying out of the way of his stubby arms reaching to grab it. Bouncing towards and around her, not really looking where he was going, he began to squeak incessantly. >Come with me come with me come with me come with meeeee!< as he bounced around the place with a boundless energy, holding onto his pearl to keep it from falling off during the bouncing session and hoping that it would be convincing enough to make the Pokémon Pillow come with him. Spoink used Splash.

Serena sighed when the Spoink perked up after the Growl, crossing her arms and trying to figure out some way to get out of this without hurting the poor little thing. Seeing none, she started to call another move out to Opal.
"Opal, try a Qui- Opal!?" The Spoink's bounce had caught the little Starly off guard, knocking her to the ground. With a groan, the bird picked herself up and jumped back closer to Serena.
"I'm okay! What next?" Opal chirped, trying not to show that the splash had hurt her.
"If you're sure... try another Growl and a Quick Attack, okay?"
::starly:: used Growl and Quick Attack.

The Spoink's ears went back as the Growl hit his ears, then the Quick Attack came and knocked him to the ground. He bounced back up and frowned sadly. He wanted friends! That wasn't right of them, she belonged to him now, the Starly had no say in it. He bounced all over the place, bouncing high and bouncing low he was hoping to hit the Starly while he bounced. <She's mine now!> He complained as he jumped.

Opal darted to the right, hoping to dodge the pig's latest bouncing parade. With a small thud, she connected squarely with his middle, falling back and landing a few feet away. The little bird didn't pick herself up quite as quickly this time, instead lying on the ground to recover for a short while.
"C'mon Opal... you can do it!" Serena had to resist the urge to run to the small Starly and scoop her up away from harm. If she did that now, it wouldn't be a very good start to her time as a trainer.
Opal got back to her feet, taking a deep breath and puffing her chest out slightly. She wasn't going to let this Spoink beat her, not during her first fight. "What now?" she called.
"Let's go with... a Tackle, alright?
::starly:: used Tackle.

The spoink was Tackled by the starly. It wasn't that painful, but he still wanted that darn pillow-alarm clock hybrid! It would be so helpful to wake up to in the morning! He didn't want to harm it too badly, so it opted for a Psywave. The beam of rainbow light was aimed directly at the starly, hoping it didn't hurt too much.
<"Come to me, my oh-so-wonderful alarm clock pillow thing!"> The spoink called while shooting the rainbow beam.
::Spoink:: Mood: Wanting Spoink uses Psywave on Opal!

Opal glanced back over her shoulder as she was moving away from the Tackle, not expecting anything serious from the Spoink. It had only bounced around and hit her purely by luck before, so she could only reason that it wouldn't do much to her this time either... right? As she was looking back to Serena for more instructions, a beam of multicolored light hit her in the back, throwing her to the ground once again. Landing painfully on her left wing, now bent at a slightly odd angle, she exhaled and tried but failed to get up.
Serena cried out in slight alarm as she watched Opal hit the ground. She didn't realize just how hard it was to watch your pokemon battle and get hurt... and Opal wasn't even too badly hurt, yet. After thinking for a few brief seconds, Serena came to the conclusion that falling to pieces would only hurt Opal's performance. "That's alright, Opal! Come on, you can do it... another Growl and a Tackle, when you're ready!"
Hearing Serena's cheerful words, the Starly pulled herself up from the ground once again. After sending a glare at the Spoink and straightening her wing, she Growled even louder at the Spoink and launched her small body at his middle in a Tackle.
::starly:: used Growl and Tackle.

<"You don't phase me!"> The spoink said, before getting hit with Tackle. That one actually kind of hurt. She felt herself getting a bit worn out by all this fighting. She had to fight though! The pillow! It was so wonderful! She bounced high into the sky before positioning herself above the bird pokemon.
<"Take this!"> She launched another Psywave at the starly before bouncing way up high again. She wouldn't go down, no way!
::Spoink:: Mood: Determined Spoink is weakning Spoink uses Psywave!

Another beam of light shot towards Opal before she was ready to take an attack, and clipped her already injured left wing. She managed to stay on her feet, barely, but she wasn't sure she could move her wing or keep this up much longer. Serena raised a hand to her mouth, stopping herself from crying out again, and started gnawing gently on her fingernails. They had to end this soon, or Opal wasn't going to make it through her very first battle. "W-what next?" the injured little bird called over to Serena. "Try another Tackle, alright? You can do it, I think it's getting weaker!" used Tackle.

Spoink let out a squeal as the bird zoomed towards him, turning tail as he realised this alarm clock of a pillow wasn't worth the trouble and trying to escape from the demonic bird. As luck would have it, the bird's plump, feathered form slammed into the part of his back that contracted as he jumped, dealing critical damage to the little piglet and drawing a weak squeak of pain as he landed awkwardly and painfully in the snow, leaving a small crater as his body grew steadily colder despite his fatty exterior. His lip quivered as salty tears brimmed in his eyes, his vision alternating between sepia tone and total darkness. All he had wanted was a pillow, and now this happened. He was alone in the snow, his spring just about keeping his tiny heart beating within his chest. It just wasn't fair. He hadn't meant to hurt anyone. But that thought was his final one before he succumbed to the encroaching darkness, and just lay there, desolate and defeated in the gently falling snow. ::spoink:: Spoink has fainted. Opal gains a level.

Serena stepped off of the path where she had been standing and crossed the small bit of remaining snow carefully to look down at the Spoink. The tiny thing really had been a bit of an annoyance, but she just wouldn't feel right leaving it unconcious in the snow. Glancing around for Opal, she waved the little bird over to her side and asked quietly, "What do you think? Should we take him with us?"
Opal stared down at the Spoink who had tried so very hard to take her down, and thought carefully. "I really don't know... He tried to hurt me, you know!"
Serena reached for her bag, knowing that her pokeballs were there somewhere, and looked down at Opal. "I don't think we should leave him here... perhaps we can teach him to behave himself if we take him along!" she said with a cheerful smile, and pulled a pokeball out of her bag to throw at the still Spoink. Backing up slightly, she threw the ball gently at the pig's dark form.

The Spoink was soon engulfed by the red light that beamed from the Pokeball. The Spoink was still and steady and a huge ding could be heard from the Pokeball, confirming that the snuggle happy Spoink had been acquired and captured. Serena has caught a Level: 7 Gender: Male Ability: Thick Fat & Own Tempo Skills: Splash & Psywave However as the capture was complete there was something singing from behind Serena. It was not the great singing you could expect from a Chatot or a Jigglypuff, but it was good enough. However as it creeped closer and closer it started to sound creepier and creepier. <Womanizer, Oh! Womanizer baby!>The Pokémon then started to sing even more weird lyrics as he crept closer and closer to Serena as a perfect little creeper. <I'm a .. SLAAAAAAAAAVE 4 UUUUUUUU!>Yeah this would turn out to be one Britney obsessed Bellsprout that was good at being a creeper. Totally creeping up on you.

Serena scooped up the pokeball containing the newly captured Spoink and brought it up to her lips, whispering the Spoink's new name to it quietly. "I think I'll call you Citrine. I hope you like it..."Opal watched Serena with a curious look on her face, wondering if Serena would pay less attention to her as more and more Pokémon joined them. "Uhm... I'm sorta hurt..." Opal said quietly. Serena put the pokeball containing Crisp back into her bag quickly and searched through it for a potion. After finding one, she crouched down by the small bird and carefully sprayed it on the different places she remembered Opal being injured. "Is that better?"Opal fluttered her wings and hopped in place a few times to check. "Muuuuuuch better! But... do you hear that? There's a strange noise coming from over there...Serena stood up and followed Opal's gaze out past the trees, catching a slightly off-key song floating through the air towards them. She took a step in the direction of the singing and motioned Opal to follow her. "You hear it too? I think it's another Pokémon... Opal hopped past Serena, wanting to protect her trainer from the possibly hostile singing Pokémon. "A singing Pokémon... but it doesn't sound like a Jigglypuff or anything, a Jigglypuff wouldn't be singing off-key... let's go find out what is!" Serena followed close behind Opal, knowing that the little bird wasn't going to let her lead and find out where the singing was coming from. Opal sped up slightly, trying to get some distance between herself and Serena, and stopped as the tone and words of the song changed. "Show yourself, whoever you are! I don't like how you're being all secretive.. is alert.

The singing noise only got stronger the closer it came, and eventually the whole are was filled with a warbling, horrid off-key sound; like nails on a chalkboard. <Womanizer, womanizer...~ IM A SLAVE 4 UUUUUUUUUUUU!> The last sound came out as a gravely, awkward voice, obviously from a non-singing pokemon. The noise was so terrifying it seemed almost toxic, but moments later the sound finally stopped.
Out from the bushes came a woozy-looking Bellsprout. His eyes were nothing but large black circles, and he was hiccuping as he stumbled all over the place. Apparently he'd forgotten the words to the song he was singing, and burped once before hearing the comment made for him. <H-Hey! You thar...You...callin' m'out?!> He roared drunkenly, wavering toward the Starly and her trainer. <Don' yell t'me!>

::Bellsprout:: Stumbling toward Opal drunkenly.

As the singing got louder and louder, Serena stared at the bushes it seemed to be coming from. Before long her staring was rewarded, and her gaze fell upon a Bellsprout who didn't seem very steady on his feet.
"I wasn't yelling at you! I was worried that you might hurt my trainer.. and you still might, acting like that." Opal exclaimed loudly at the Bellsprout, moving a bit closer to him while keeping Serena behind her.
"I don't think he's quite... right in his head right now, Opal. Don't attack him unless you have to, alright?" Serena told the Starly quietly, not wanting to see the Bellsprout hurt.

The Bellsprout simply stared at the Starly, his yellow head bobbing up and down like a bobber on a fishing rod. It slowly got faster and faster, until his entire body was shaking and moving around awkwardly like he was...dancing? Yes, the Bellsprout was dancing to some tune struck up in his mind, and apparently it was going well.
<HMMMMMMM~ Let's sing along to this soooooonggggggg!> With shaking leaves the pokemon reached out to the bird before him, grasping at her wings in order to spin her around as if doing the tango. If he successfully grabbed Opal, he would spin her around and around until they were both dizzy and he flung her to the side so he could land on the ground with a small thud. Even if he hadn't actually grabbed her, the Bellsprout spun around anyway, giggling as he landed.
--
It's up to you to decide if Opal is grabbed or not. Either option is alright, since regardless the Bellsprout lands on the ground after 'dancing'.
