Grumpig Pokemorph
Full Name: Emma Kjellandin (calls herself Orenda)
Gender: Female
Age: 26 (June 4)
Appearance:
What appears to be a young woman stands here. She stands at a slight five feet and three inches, approximately. Her figure is rather flat all around with no notable curves besides an average-sized chest. A clear complexion is marred by many small and light scars spread over her entire body and, for the most part, none are purposely hidden. Her skin, however, is also a light, almost unnoticeable lavender in color. Slightly pointed, but otherwise small ears are settled on either side of her head. Her nose is tiny, the last noticeable feature on her face. Rather thin, normally pursed but amused lips sit beneath while above are bright, but eerily purple eyes that almost... almost seem to glow.
Her hair varies in length greatly. Rather long bangs hang down in front of her eyes, but seem to neatly part on either side so she can see through them. There are two slightly longer clumps that frame her face as well as much longer groups that hang down to the middle of her torso, each tied near the ends with black bows. Next to these are very short little tufts that poke out to the sides in front of her ears. At the back, she has her hair tied in two low pig-tails which show that the majority of her hair actually falls all the way past her bottom to about mid-thigh.
A plain black dress is tied to her form. There is nothing spectacular about it besides the bows tied from the spaghetti straps over her shoulders. Her legs are adorned with high stockings, but there is still the barest amount of skin showing between them and her dress, showing the garter belt clips. The shoes on her feet are really not meant for the travelling she apparently plans to do: simple mary-jane style, flat shoes.
Background:
Born into a happy family in Fallarbor Town of the Hoenn region, Emma was a lovely girl. Back then, her hair was black and she did have pale skin due to the volcanic ash. She had two brothers, both younger, and they used to play together a lot. They grew up with a Gulpin, a Mawile, and a Cacnea. They never tried to claim any of them specifically belonging to one sibling and always just had fun with them all together.
She attended everyday school rather than a trainer's school of any kind and never really considered actively pursuing a life of travelling for any real reason. It wasn't until she was eighteen that things changed. Emma was going to graduate high school and move onto a college, though she wasn't entirely sure what she wanted to go for just yet. She never got the chance, though. Her parents instead convinced her to sign up for an experimental project that, according to the flyer, was not to be very dangerous but could result in some strange symptoms.
A Pokemorph project. The reason her parents were so adamant was that it promised a good deal of money and she could always go to college later in life! This was a one-time kind of opportunity, so she caved. The facility was nice, the workers the same. She had her own bedroom that was not what she expected. It was like a five-star hotel rather than the patient kind of bunking she was imagining. The experiment was done on varying different people: men, women, children. She even saw a few elderly. The point was to discover who would react the best to their treatment.
So the experiment began. Every four days, they were given injections. They were given their corresponding Pokemon to stay with and interact with. Every week, though, they swapped the current Pokemon with one of the opposite gender. It was never explained why -- maybe just something else they were testing -- but Emma got along quite well with both the male and female Grumpig that were her "partners" of sorts.
The first two years seemed to slide by without any issues whatsoever. Her skin took on a slightly more pink tinge before turning a bit purple while her hair started to grow out as purple instead. It was frustrating at first, to have purple roots and black hair, but it was the least of the side-effects, really. There was some overall discomfort for her: headaches, stomach aches, and a particular pinching sort of pain in her abdomen as well. Over time, this was revealed to be caused by a gem that was growing and eventually split her skin. Other than these issues, she seemed to be doing well.
Then real problems arose. She was starting to hear things. At first, she tried to blame it on lack of sleep, since it was most often a symptom she had at night. But it slowly got more frequent and, eventually, was accompanied by hallucinations. As a result, the scientists were required to remove the Pokemon from her quarters to avoid harm coming to them. It progressively got worse until, when she was twenty-three, she was put in a mental institute.
For two years, she was kept under careful watch and for all intents and purposes became a vegetable. Slowly, she formulated plans in her head until they made sense and seemed at least slightly possible. Without continued injections, it seemed the Pokemon genes had settled down for the most part and the hallucinations died down. Finally, actually on her twenty-fifth birthday, she had one more violent episode which put her in the hospital due to some broken bones and gashes needing stitches.
Her escape was a lucky fluke. A few moment's distraction on her guards' parts, some mild electronic malfunctions, and an unlocked window gave way to fresh air. For the following year, she had to hide. Meals scrounged from garbage, caves or trash cans as beds, anything to simply keep her going. She also travelled, getting as far away from the testing building as she could and getting through several towns and cities.
Finally, she came across a rather crazy old man. He was rather drunk and wanted nothing more than to chat her ear off... which was fine by Emma since she was always hearing voices anyway. He talked and talked and talked, telling her about his kids and his crew (apparently he was a pirate or something... or at least that's what she remembered) and just... everything. By the end of the night, he had patted her head and told her she was a good gal before handing her an envelope and walking away without another word.
Inside the envelope was $500 and several flyers and random information regarding a place called Cheyenne. Needless to say, she was confused but even when she chased after him to return it, she couldn't find him. At a loss for what to do, she used the money to buy herself new clothes and then headed for this mysterious region. Her whole life had been turned upside-down, anyway, so perhaps starting fresh and doing something she'd never planned to do before would do her some good. Pokemon journey, here comes Orenda!
Personality:
For the most part, Emma appears to be a fairly normal teenager... Too bad she isn't a teenager anymore. Rather immature, but not innocent, she can be rather grating on the nerves at times. Normally, she seems rather happy-go-lucky to the point that she will completely ignore most negative things that are said to her. She acts as if those things were never said and just responds to anything else or, in some cases, treats what was said as joking. Extreme cases have her completely replacing what was said with something more light-hearted.
The truth is that her Grumpig genes have messed with her brain much more than the rest of her. Rather than becoming super-smart or anything else... beneficial, it essentially made her schizophrenic and mildly bipolar. Emma can idly pick up on random thoughts from those around her, but has no idea who they've come from or even what general direction. The voices don't even match the actual person's so she has no way of discerning who's "talking" to her. Unfortunately, she also can't shut it off. It just happens at random intervals.
Usually, when she is "replacing" what someone's said to her, it's because some random thought interjected and she thought what she heard in her mind was what was actually said. This also happens sometimes where something good is replaced with something bad, which is part of the reason she often acts as if it wasn't said or as if it was joking.
