Full Name: Darya Parvana Lanford
Gender: Female
Age: Fifteen (May 3, 1997)
Appearance: There is something exotic about Darya; her skin is a bit more tan than usual, and that slight darkness becomes more pronounced during the summer, when she garners more attention from the sun itself. Her eyes are almond shaped and inky brown, her lips a bit more full than you'd expect. There also appears to be a bit more weight to her than you first thought - if you passed her on the street, surely she would seem as unassuming and tiny as any other fifteen year old. But then, after getting a good look at her, you'd see it. She's taller, with a maturity to her body that seems a bit out of place. Was she held back a year in school? Maybe. Darya has an air of sophistication about her, despite her age; as if she belongs in a university - that thought is probably generated by her chosen attire, though. More often than not, Darya dresses simply: with a pair of gray pants and a pale blouse, or perhaps a simply designed sweater vest over a collared shirt. She rarely wears colors, preferring monochromatic shades of gray, cream, and faded black. Perhaps the oddest thing about her (and perhaps the reason she isn't allowed out of her house) is the fact that her hair is dyed a bright green. It isn't a neon color, but it does resemble the intense hue of grass. Darya usually wears it up in a bun, pulled away from her face - or in a ponytail, but never down.
Background: Her father Archibald (fondly referred to as Archie by his wife,) met Darya's mother while studying abroad. They hit it off, and after a couple of years of wooing, the two settled down. Archie migrated his new beau over to the Cheyenne region after being accepted at a local school, as the librarian. It wasn't the most glamorous job in the world, but he enjoyed it. The newlywed Yasmin was eager to please, but found that she adored her new life within Cheyenne; the two of them lived a quiet life, until their world was changed - hopefully, for the better. Darya was an unexpected complication in their relationship. Archibald was never around, having become enamored by his quest for knowledge, and soon enough this put a strain between the lovebirds. When Darya was three years old, her father found a new job being a curator at a local museum - which put further distance between the three family members. Still, Yasmin did her best to raise her daughter. She doted upon her, as any new mother would, and they formed quite a strong bond. Eventually everything settled down, and life within the Lanford household grew quiet again.
By the time Darya was ready to go to school on her own, Yasmin was so attached to life with her dear daughter, that she would not allow it. Darya was home-schooled until she was thirteen, missing out on proper socialization with kids her own age. This did not seem to bother her though. Darya found solace the same way her distanced father did - in the form of books. She'd read for hours, and she'd read anything. Pretty soon the girl thought that she knew everything there was to know about... Well, the world, and everything in it. After fifteen years of this quiet existence - wherein she only read about Pokemon, and never really experienced life with them - she thinks she would make an exceptional trainer. Against her mother's wishes, she has sought out the Pokemon Laboratory within Cheyenne and vows to find herself a Pokemon of her own. The girl is adamant that she become a Pokemon Champion, and prove that she knows everything - that she doesn't need her mother, or books, anymore.
Personality: Quite a subdued individual indeed. Darya avoids conflict and confrontation, but she is in no means meek. Her temper does rise when she thinks she is being mocked, or if she thinks that her company is too stupid to understand her. She is very elitist when it comes to social interaction; often seeking out older people as companions instead of people her own age, which she then alienates with her arrogance and infuriating behavior. She hates to be proven wrong, and will stop at nothing to prove her own intelligence. One of her quirks (which easily becomes the best way to harass her) is the way she confuses facts. She has so much information within her head that it becomes jumbled, and often falls out of her mouth in the wrong order (such as stating an Onyx is a Water-Type Pokemon, and is weak to Rock-Type Pokemon). Darya will furiously defend her views, even if she knows she made a mistake somewhere - and can be quite insulting to others.
