She had been delegated to semi-PC role since the last time she was used, against Paris, which felt like almost a year ago. Since then, she had evolved from a Bagon into a powerful Salamence, but had not been able to really test out her full capacity, until today when the opportunity presented itself.
Sam knew that his pokemon had been severely overtrained so he needed a new strategy. The expert room provided that as every one was given a special item which evened out all of the levels. This was a great chance for him to give them a fair fight, and finally give his Salamence the fight it craved for so long.
Toothless was out of her pokeball, with her tail wrapped around Sam as she awaited her challenger. He stood there with two other pokeballs at hand, stating immediately that it'd be a 3 vs 3. No matter who the challenger was. And there he stood, waiting patiently. When the challenger shows up, he'd be ready. And they'd have an epic battle. He could feel it already.

They needed levels and they seemed to be getting restless, especially a certain monkey he knew. He signed up a for a random room and walked in. He took note of the number of people who are usually in the expert room. There didn't seem to be too many competitors today. Even if the lounge didn't get too many people in the expert room in the first place. As he approached, he took note of the surroundings that the room offered. It offered a different atmosphere than the usual battle rooms. The rooms seemed more natural for him, and well accommodating for some of his restless Pokémon. Perhaps he should come here more often
As he stepped into the room, he sent out WuKong, his best pokemon, so that he may see what it was like. "Welp. Congratulations. You get to have more battles with stronger people." He said, his voice with a tone of relief after saying that. WuKong excitedly cheered, jumping and hanging off of Tristan's shoulder and back, causing him to stumble back a bit. <Alright, finally! Lets win this! I bet I'll do so well!> As they entered, they were greeted by a familiar sight. Tristan smirked a little, but was a little shocked that he'd be battling someone like Sam. He heard a few things about the Ace Academy admin and wondered what kind of Pokémon he had. "Oh hey there. Been a while." Tristan said, taking note of the salamence he possessed. His eyes widened a bit, surprised by the site of one before him. He had never really seen one like that before. "That's an amazing Salamence. Well, if its your strongest, then I'll-" Before he could finish, WuKong pushed off of Tristan, jumping into the ring. He was certainly eager to battle, obvious by his fidgetty movements and sudden stance. <I know I'm gonna put up a fight. Don't be surprised that I win, though> He said, pulling his expert belt around his waist.
Tristan only stared, watching as WuKong's pride continued to rise. He laid himself back, his head on his hands. He sometimes wished WuKong would calm down a little. But even so, he did agree with his fire monkey. He did want to battle and certainly improve. "Whenever you're ready. I want to see what someone of your calibur can do." |

He had summoned a Monferno against Toothless which only made Sam laugh inside a bit. He felt kind of bad for the trainer, having to go against a pseudo legendary so early. This wouldn't be fun at all. Especially with a Monferno and not an Infernape. But thanks to the stipulations of the room, level did not matter so he just wanted to see how well the pokemon was trained. Sam would let him have it a bit though, just for the fun of it as he always felt a good taunt made a battle more interesting. Especially if it was one that meant no harm.
"Monferno? Haven't evolved it yet? Wow. You are really ballsy." He said. Toothless herself just roared when she heard the words from the hasty and aggressive monkey. The roar was incredibly intimidating, enough to lower the attack of the fire and fighting monkey by one which would be a nice start.
>Don't get ahead of yourself so quickly. You have a long way to come.< She said to Wukong as she was ready to make her first move. "Alright. Since it's my turn first. Leer, then Zen Headbutt." Sam said, ready to go on the offensive in the beginning. He knew a lot about the Chimchar family and knew that a Monferno was part fighting, so the psychic attack would definitely leave a mark.
And with that, his Salamence got started. She gave the Monferno a nasty leer after the intimidation and then charged in with her head imbued with psychic energy as she aimed it right for the body of the Monferno. And now, the first blow was drawn.
"If you had an Infernape. This would be more epic." Sam acknowledged after. It wasn't really meant to be a slab or an insult, it was more of an observation.

In honesty, Tristan could not believe that he himself would face a pseudo legendary so soon. However, like WuKong, he felt excited and wanted to battle. Both of them wanted to win, or at least show how strong they were and they were ready what they can. "Heh. Ballzy, maybe. But I can't do anything about it now. He's been itching for a battle." Tristan said, his voice calm. However, this time, his voice was much more focused than usual, as opposed to laid back. Its as if he was ready to fight. WuKong only wiped his lips with his thumb, obviously wanting to win. <Ya, man. I'm ready to battle. Lets win this thing!>
WuKong's pride was up and running. However, that would soon come to the test as Salamence started strong. When WuKong faced his opponent, he blinked, feeling a sense of fear for the first time in a while. He was in awe to be in such strong power. It was like he was facing Zeus again. He could see hte image perfectly, of Zeus attacking. Only this time, he was struck by the Salamence and her Zen Headbutt. The super effective move hit him, pushing him back and looking as if he were knocked out. "WuKong!" Tristan shouted, feeling concerned for his Pokémon. He did know what to say, or do. He tensed his fist, but tried to look as calm as possible. Is this the end of the battle right here? He felt the blow to his pride, like how WuKong felt in many cases.
"Dammit....." He said. But just as he said that, WuKong stood up, still somewhat able to stand up. He was breathing heavily, exhausted from the attack. He was ready to give in, but his pride would not let him do that. <Dammit, I'm not....letting that....happen again. Come on, Best you got?> WuKong said, using his body language to draw the Salamence in. Tristan smiled, relieved that WuKong would fall like that. "Alright, then. WuKong, show her what we're made of. Use Hidden Power!" and WuKong got into a stance, placing his palms together and his fingers between each other. His index, middle, and thumb fingers were together while the fingers were in between each other and down. He breathed out, focusing his energy outward. Before long, A ring of energy orbs formed behind him, reminiscent of a thunder god's drums. Suddenly, the orbs began to launch, directed towards the Salamence. |

The feeling was clear, it filled the air. It was anxiety, a feeling of fear that he was getting over his head as he feared that one attack would have easily finished off WuKong. Sam did not expect it though, so he wasn't surprised when he saw the pokemon still standing. In the expert room, he knew it'd take much more than that to beat a pokemon. But even then, he was surprised to see the amount of damage done. It seemed that even with the level split, the pure strength of the pseudo legendary was simply too much for the Monferno.
He also had been trained in battle for so long that he could almost psychically guess the counter before it came. And as he had thought, he was spot on. The Monferno went with a taunt to try and throw his Salamence off target before he sent a hidden power at the pokemon, it sent ice filled orbs at the pokemon in hopes of finishing it off quickly. Sam knew the tactic right away when he saw the expert belt on the Monferno also. The expert belt, and double type advantage made the Hidden Power a dangerous attack that could finish his Salamence off in one blow.
Unfortunately for WuKong. He wouldn't get that opportunity. Sam had a strategy of his own also. He took a gulp before he pointed up into the sky. "Fly!" He said and Toothless spread her wings and began to flap them until she disappeared into the air, avoiding both attacks that came at her.
She was safe up there for now. And likely for the next turn also as she was out of sight and out of reach. "The difference between Shelgon and Salamence are the wings. It has its disadvantage because now poor Toothless is twice as weak against ice. But it also has its strengths, for situations like this." He acknowledged to Tristan.

It seemed as though he was not surprised by Tristan's sudden fear of WuKong falling. Perhaps he had underestimated the power of his own pokemon. Something that he should never do, especially with a pokemon he can relate to. Tristan looked back at Sam, sensing the air of confidence and focus that radiated from him. He felt the feeling, going around the room. He wanted a serious battle. Tristan gritted his teeth, a little intimidated by the focus. But even so, he kept his cool, focusing on the battle.
He watched as Salamence flew, dodging both attacks with ease. Tristan watched the pseudo legendary ascend into the sky, his eyes widening as he went up and up. He knew he had to keep his guard up somehow
He sighed, showing his relief that he didn't faint. "Careful, WuKong." WuKong brushed the comment, his pride still evident. <You don't need to worry about me. I'm itching to keep fighting.> His confidence was evident as he tightened his belt once more. Tristan, however, wanted WuKong to keep calm. If his arrogance were to get in the way again, it'd be more for Tristan to deal with. He felt the same with WuKong, definitely. But even so, he knew the difference between recklessness and focus. "Keep your cool, then." Tristan said, his focus still evident in his voice. Despite that, he tried to look as laid back as possible. |

There were little to no moves that could be used to hit a pokemon while they were up in the air. Thus, he chose the right path when he avoided attacking and wasting something. He knew that they were planning a counter now as the Salamence came down from up high in the air. He knew that their plan was simple right here, they would try to meet her head on and possibly get the upper hand as she came down for the attack. Maybe a dodge and attack, that would likely be the plan and he was prepared for it. He had to get himself ready to deal with the incoming strike.
He started to look up into the sky in the simulated room and noticed that it began to glisten a bit as a very bright light reflected back at him. It seemed Toothless was beginning her descend as she flew right at the Monferno for a knock out strike. Now, they just had to strategically handle this to get what they needed.
"Leer! Then strike it!" Sam said as he saw her come down. And Toothless was able to give a very mean leer to the Monferno, hopefully to throw it off enough so she could come in and give the finishing blow with another super effective attack.
That was their plan after all, if they could get this to work they could hopefully pull off the victory in the beginning of the match already.

It was an interesting sight to him, what with the first time seeing a pseudo legendary such as a Salamence. It somehow reminded him of his past, of how he likes his freedom. Freedom. From that word, Tristan blinked, realizing the disadvantage he was in. The Salamence was up in the sky, with as much flexibility that it could use. With a powerful aerial attack, it could finish WuKong off quite easily.
"Keep focus, WuKong. We don't want to lose this." He said, trying to get through to WuKong. Once again, WuKong's pride was apparent, as he breathed out. <I got this.> He said, looking up at the Salamence in the sky. He was still breathing sort of heavily, exhausted from the Zen Headbutt attack. He could easily take a break right now, but he would not allow that. His gaze was fixed on winning the match, as he looked up at the Salamence.
Only to be met by a leer attack by the Salamence. He stepped back, showing his teeth as his lips twitched. He reacted, certainly, but he was not bound to lose. Tristan looked back at Sam, wondering what he was up to. "Alright WuKong. Steady. Wait for it to come to you...." He had a thought about Sam and what he was expecting. Was he expecting WuKong to dodge in place? Suddenly an idea. "WuKong. Rush the salamence!" WuKong looked back, wondering what his trainer was up to. but he only groaned as he ran towards the salamence, not letting up in speed. As he got closer and closer, WuKong could only hope his trainer knew what he was doing. "Now slide and use hidden power at the same time!" and WuKong did just that, sliding under the salamence and placing his hands together. The ring of ice orbs appeared again as it shot out, aimed at the salamence. |

He knew the ploy and expected it fully when the trainer had his Monferno dodge his attack and come back with a powerful hidden power. The ice move was x4 super effective against his Salamence and would faint Toothless right on the spot, especially since the Monferno had an expert belt on which made the attack even more powerful than that. It really was too bad, his Salamence was a pseudo legendary but the type disadvantage just weakened her severely.
He sighed as he got ready to take out his pokeball and return his Salamence after one attack and a quick defeat. But before he actually did it, he gave a wicked smile to Tristan, almost to signal a >GOT CHA!< while he was at it. "Protect!" He said immediately.
Toothless had a speed priority advantage with the attack and she immediately sent up a large blue orb to absorb the blast and reduce it to zero while she was at it. There, she was safe again. And hopefully, with Tristan already using back-to-back Hidden Power he would do something else this turn. And not spam an attack and be classless about it.
"Nice try." Sam said after, he had a big smile on too.

OOC: Hey you think I'm keeping Tristan's character well? Based on his profile and whatnot? [atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, width: 410px; background-color: #BFE3FE; border: 1px dashed #9abccd, bTable][cs=2]dreams that reach the sky | | [atrb=style, font-family: Tahoma; word-spacing: 1px; text-align: justify; background: white; border: 1px dashed #9abccd; color: 2f405e; padding: 10px]Tristan only sighed, a little disappointed that the attack didn't hit. In honesty, he wanted it to hit, but knew that it would have been too easy if that were the case. He was certainly impressed by Sam and how he managed to raised his salamence to that sort of level. It made him smile, as he was going to get a good battle. He smiled, feeling as though he had found something he had been looking for. "You're a top notch trainer. Suits you if you're one of the heads of Ace. You certainly aren't making it easy on me." He said, rubbing the back of his head. Honestly, he wanted nothing more than to finish this, as this was a hassle. And yet, he didn't want to just have this end. He felt as though he should put more time into this. After all, it was time for some training.
But now he was having an issue facing this salamence. Sam seemed he was starting to see the patterns in his hidden power technique. Perhaps now it was time to use different techniques. WuKong was showing much more power, as blaze had been activated all this time. However, due to the pseudo legendary's typing, it would not prove to be effective. On the other hand, He also had another attack that was normally effective. Even so, the lowered attack would set it back a little. WuKong was getting restless as Tristan thought of his options. It seemed as though hidden power was the only thing that work. Maybe third time's the charm? No, in his experience, it would get predictable and useless against the same opponent. Unless....
"WuKong. Use Leer then use Flamethrower!" WuKong shouted, his burning energy radiating as he stared down the salamence. Before long, he inhaled, then exhaled a stream of fire. It may not be much against a dragon like salamence, but it was certainly enough to cause substantial damage. |

Finally, Sam was happy that the trainer changed strategies and went with something else. Especially something that wasn't super effective against his dragon and flying type as it struck the skin of the Salamence but did not do too much damage, even with the blaze activated because of her type advantage against such an attack. Toothless was very resilient and still stood high and mighty after everything that occurred in the battle so far, which gave Sam a plan for this next move.
Should he go with Hydro Pump now? No. No. It was too inaccurate. Maybe Fly? It would make her safe for one more turn? Or rather... He gave it some thought before he finally decided. "Dragon Pulse. End it!" He said and his Salamence generated a large green orb and shot it at her target in hopes of defeating the Monferno once and for all.
The attack had everything. Strength and accuracy. Unfortunately it wouldn't be super effective against the fighting and fire type. But heck, since Blaze activated the Pokémon must have been pretty weak. And maybe this would be enough to finish it off. And Sam almost forgot at first, but when he saw the attack come he realized the wise glasses effect. It had a slight boost, making it even more deadly, and hopefully enough to finish this.

Even if it wasn't super effective, the damage was hopefully considerable. Tristan looked back at WuKong, who was still holding on and trying to win the battle. He understood how his pokemon felt, about his pride not letting him fail like this. He could see himself in his shoes, about how he felt about losing like this. Tristan groaned, watching as WuKong continued to fight on.
WuKong was strong willed: something Tristan, rather any fighting type, could relate to. To face something like dragon pulse was something simple, especially when you want to keep going in this fight. "Dodge it!" Tristan shouted, not letting Sam finish the battle this soon. He did not want to hear anything from WuKong, nor did he want to see another early loss. WuKong jumped out of the way, flipping twice before landing on the ground. "I'm not letting you end this early!"
The question now was the next attack. Tristan had a few options, but hidden power was not quite the right choice yet. He had an idea. "Thunderpunch!" The attack was simple, clean, and normally effective against someone like Salamence. It may not do much due to the reduced effect, but Tristan figured that the lowered defense would provide some boost in power of the attack. WuKong rushed, using an electrified fist to uppercut the salamence. |

Sam was beginning to get a bit frustrated with how crafty his opponent was. He was also a bit afraid of when the next hidden power would come to knock out his Salamence which was always on the top of his mind. But for now, he'd ignore this for the time being and just deal with the match at hand. The thunder punch caught Toothless by surprise and struck against her body hard. Luckily the dragon half reduced the damage, although the flying half boosted it up for a normal reaction. It still wasn't pleasant but compared to something that was ice... Heck, it was very doable.
>You are tough! Lets see how you deal with this!< She said as she opened her mouth and sent a large stream of water at the Monferno. It also received a nice boost from the wise glasses to be a very detrimental attack if it hit. The only problem was, the accuracy of the attack wasn't the highest. Thus Sam was a bit worried when he saw his pokemon use it.
But heck, he didn't care anymore. He missed with dragon pulse. So accuracy meant little to him now. "I wanted to save that because it's not the most accurate, but heck, I guess you really roused her up." He said to Tristan.

He was daftly afraid of when WuKong will cave, as his pokemon was expending much energy just to keep out of range of another hit. All he can do now is have faith in WuKong's abilities. Thankfully, the attack that came at WuKong was not as accurate as the others, as WuKong jumped out of the way, avoiding the stream of water altogether.
<Haha. I'm a lot stronger than you think. I won't lose to you!> He said, preparing his stance for the hidden power attack. However, before he could do anything, he fell over, being off balance. Tristan worried for his safety, for the amount of energy just to keep up was definitely made apparent. Wukong was exhausted, slowly getting up, all the while angry at what he had just done. Worst of all, this could be the moment for Tristan to lose his strongest pokemon, as he was wide open. WuKong, trying to hide his anger and how he fell over like that, used flamethrower, the stream of fire boosted from his blaze.
Had that slip up did not occur, Tristan could have overcame the salamence with hidden. As a result, he was a bit worried about how Wukong was feeling, or doing. Perhaps the fact that he was a monferno had caused him to be unable to stand up to the salamence as well as he could have. But in any case, Tristan knew how WuKong felt and knew what he had to do. Besides, at least WuKong reacted. "Well, that as unexpected..." |

Sam thought he would have the upper hand then but once again, he felt a bit shafted when the Monferno dodged another of Toothless' attacks which just angered the Salamence even more. She started to get a bit irrational after the two dodges as she was just trying to hit the Pokémon and could not for some unknown reason. And as she missed, she feared that the fire monkey was ready to come with another hidden power, as it took the stance to use one. But luckily, that never came and instead a flamethrower made its way at the Salamence which hit the dragon hard but was a lot more bearable thanks to her super effective type advantage against such a move.
But she had enough of this bs and she was getting ready to send another hydro pump at her opponent. Heck if she could she was ready to send all of her attacks at the Monferno at once. Sam could see the fume and he realized he needed to cool her down a bit. He needed to do so before it got too out of hand. So heck, he went for it now.
"Toothless, Fly!" He said and she took the air and disappeared from the battle field at the moment. That way she'd get time to cool down and actually get back to normal. And maybe she'd even be lucky enough to come back and strike her opponent with a super effective move.

That is 3 dodges in only 6 posts. You can't just dodge everything because you don't want a Pokémon to faint. There should be a good RP reason for how you dodged. I used Fly (95 accuracy) and Dragon Pulse (100 accuracy) so you have to be creative with those in order to dodge. Hydro Pump makes a little more sense at 80 accuracy but I should not really miss back to back moves that are close to 100 accuracy. I mean I at least used Fly and Protect which makes more RP sense CREDIT: Lunar of OTE |

OOC: I'm aware of the dodges. Sorry, forgot to take into account creativity and I have an idea on things. Plus, i usually try to match the number of dodges with the opponent. But that's not excuse, so sorry if I seemed godmoddy. Both he and his pokemon were confident, as they stood strong, WuKong dodging the moves with relative ease. WuKong's persistence and pride has allowed him to gain last minute power, making him hard to hit and much more annoying to battle. Tristan can relate, as he had somehow pulled something off like that, especially with his brothers. He smiled, hoping that this could last.
Back to the battle, it seemed as though it was time to finish this. Tristan has noticed that WuKong as been exhausted and on his last legs. Judging from his condition, Tristan assumed that WuKong only had enough energy to use one more attack before failing. Even if blaze had boosted his power, it would mean nothing if he couldn't continue, let alone take down a pokemon. As Tristan's confidence grew, so did his pride. "USE HIDDEN POWER! FINISH IT!" And Hidden power was used, missing the salamence completely as she flew up.
"Shit....." Tristan said, no longer calm while watching WuKong miss the super effective move. WuKong then fell to his knee, too exhausted to move or do anything. This set Tristan back, as he should have known that it would miss. But nevertheless, he was overconfident, as he let WuKong miss a move. All he can do now is wait and see what happens. |

Nice! He had avoided the uber effective move which would have easily finished off Toothless for good. And now, with the Monferno on the floor he was ready to put his finishing touches on the first round of the battle. "Descend. Now! Attack!" He said and he quickly saw a very bright star come from the simulated sky. This star, or what looked to be a star began to take the form of a large blue dragon when it came closer.
The Salamence was also moving very fast as it made it's way toward the battle field and at the Monferno in a quick swoop to hopefully end the match once and for all. Sam waited for the respond, crossed his arms, and could not hide the smile in his face. He had faith that this would be it. If not, well... Heck Toothless did not deserve to win then.

WuKong was pushed back, dust flying everywhere, as he was brought to fainting. Tristan only stood there in awe, proud of WuKong for his last minute power boost, but shocked at how he lost. He knew that the salamence would be a tough contender, as he thought WuKong had a slim chance of losing. Yet, why did he feel in shock? He only sighed, bring WuKong back to the benches. From his body language, one could tell he was a little sad, no matter how hard he tried to hide it. He returned WuKong to his pokeball before turning back to Sam.
"Heh. Guess you deserved that one." He said, his voice calm and collected once more. "And what are you grinning about? Battle is still drawing on." He said, grabbing for his next pokeball. He was going to win and show how good of a trainer he is. And with a bright flash, Shina appeared out of her pokeball. She stood there, scratching her face as she looked up at the salamence in awe. <Oh my, you look pretty, dear~> She gazed upon the salamence, at awe of her power. Perhaps this was intimidate in action?
"Alright, Shina. Show her what you got. Use defense curl, then night slash!" And Shina jumped, curling herself in a ball as she rolled towards the dragon type. Before long, she uncurled herself and struck, her darkened claws hitting straight for the dragon's belly. Tristan was confident that she could win, beating hte dragon down once and moving on. Not long after, he realized that the leer from before still affected the salamence, lowering the defense of the salamence. With an increased crit hit ratio, this could turn the tables. Hopefully. What a hassle this can be, but Tristan seemed to be into this. He felt the need to win, for that was the way to tell that he had improved. |

It took a lot of time and effort but he had finally done it, he had the advantage now as he still had his pokemon standing while his opponent had his fainted. The new pokemon used also seemed much more reasonable as it wasn't a type that was very effective against the Salamence which made him feel good. The Sandshrew as part ground which was interesting seeing how his flying dragon was immune to that.
But it started with a night slash which was not its type, but rather just a move it knew like many of Toothless' moves. The attack struck the poor Salamence hard but he was still able to continue after, as he had a rather strong defense even against attacks like this.
And Sam clapped his hands as he was ready to take down another foe. But he thought about it for a second and realized that Hydro Pump was too risky and too cheap. He rather go with another attack... "Go! Dragon Pulse!" He said and his Salamence nodded before she sent a large green orb at her opponent to do some major damage.
After that, she simply looked on to the remainder of the fight.

It may be a disadvantage now, but he knew that if anyone can take down the salamence, it would be Shina. She had the creativity to do it, so maybe she can pull this off. He would normally stay laid back for most battles, but this battle, the battle with Sam, was different. He was much more in tune with it and much more focused. He would not let himself fail like he did against that someone and his electivire.
But even if Shina could pull it off, it would still be tough. Tristan was a little shocked at how resilient the salamence was. Even with a lowered defense, she was still standing, even after a night slash. "Watch out for the dragon pulse!!" Tristan said to his Pokémon. Shina only rushed the green orb, hitting the attack with her back and letting her hard spine absorb the attack. The force of the attack was powerful, as it pushed Shina back to where she started from. <Tch. Like I'd let that hit me. Come on. And gee, Tristan, you seem to be getting worked up. Not like you.> Even so, she felt the attack hit her hard, even if her spines absorb some of the attack. It seemed as though it was not enough to absorb everything, especially since it was a special attack.
"Alright then. Use defense curl again, followed by a crush claw!" He commanded. His sandslash, once again, curled up, gathering potential energy until unraveling. She slammed her claw down, trying to break through to the defense. Tristan grunted, getting into stance as he was ready to fight back. If there was anything he can do, he can at least keep the chances even. He had an idea, allowing for quick claw to provide more damage. Rollout at this time was too risky, but perhaps next time he attacked. |
