Still clad in her business attire she wore when she left Unova, Feran started her journey off like any other aspiring trainer. She traveled light with only her small, sparsely filled office tote as luggage. Anything else she would need was cast aside to make room for any item pertaining to her studies in pokemon handling. She was sure that it would fill a good portion of it. She planned on carrying her pokeballs on her holster attached to her belt as well as a few in the pockets found with her blazer. If anything she could save on the balls and just commence her journey with her pokemon free beside her. But first thing's first, Feran actually needed her starter and such before she could do a thing. Getting lost in pre-planning was only going to slow her first step down.
The crossroads loomed ahead, standing as a beacon among the otherwise dead route. It was the first decision any new trainer would have to make but Feran already knew which way she was headed. She veered off to the right, the road labeled "Rangers Station", and proceeded with a firm, purposeful walk. While the laboratory offered a set choice between pokemon, the ranger station brought forth the chance of working along side a formerly wild pokemon. It was sure to be a stark difference between raising an already human-friendly creature compared to one plucked from the wild. Of course it would give the impression of more work ahead of her but Feran paid no mind to this. All she cared about was getting her notes down and using a raw pokemon would mean new, unassuming traits to aid her in her goal.
It wasn't too long before she was within eyesight of the large tent. A puzzled look crawled across her face but dissipated quickly. One would not expect to come across a tent when they expected a station, implying a more sophisticated building. But, nevertheless, it was the place she was looking for. Feran approached the station and brushed the tent flap door to the side as she slipped inside. "Hello, I'm here for a starter," she said loud and clear.

ranger encounter! "well, hey there, pretty lady," came the honey-sweet voice from within the tent. sashaying out of the carnival-sized ranger headquarters, ranger coby and his faithful skitty, princess, arrived on the scene. there stood a fine specimen of lady, with beautiful long black hair - coby was instantly in love, falling head over heels the moment he laid eyes on her. "why, for you, anything!" he said in response, strolling forward and placing his arms around her shoulders. he walked her towards the back of the tent, where fences kept people from getting into the restricted area where pokemon roamed wild and free. grinning, he pointed with the arm that wasn't around her shoulders to show her the expansive scenery. eyes moving ever so slightly down to her chest, coby thought he was being very subtle as he talked to keep her mind off his roving gaze. "hey, honey, did it hurt? you know, when you fell from heaven?" he said, as the skitty at his feet rolled her eyes and curled up into a ball to take a nap, sick of having to beat up her trainer so often whenever he found a new pretty trainer. looked like coby was going to get a free run with this prospective trainer without the fear of getting doubleslapped - more the pity for feran.

Feran furrowed her brow. She wasn't expecting to come here to be hit on by complete stranger. Regardless of her frustration, Feran allowed him to swing his arms around her shoulders and lead her. She was in his "territory", of course. Following his lead was probably the safest thing she could do. There wasn't anything more dangerous than finding yourself looking eye-to-eye with a wild pokemon unarmed. Her eyes rolled at his unoriginal pickup line, mimicking the Skitty. "Why yes I did," Feran answered, giving the boy the gift of her smile. "In fact, I died 15 years ago just like that line," she said. See, she wasn't super serious all the time, just most of it.
She paid no attention to how the ranger would react, if he did at all. Her mind was already focused on something else. "So, where do we go from here? Do I have to pass a test or something before I get my pokemon, or what?" Feran asked. She was a bit impatient, to be honest. Being stuck on that boat and train combo with the only thing to look forward to being her new job made the wait excruciating. She was like a kid waiting for his allowance at the end of the week. The more time that passed without seeing her prize made it seem like it would never happen.

ranger encounter! unswerved by her sarcastic remark to his brilliant pickup line, coby tried another one instantly after she threw it back in his face. he was undaunted by failure: after all, he did this day in, day out, every single day for the past few years at least. he was used to being rejected and so rejection had become almost routine for him. " oh darling, that tongue's pretty sharp, but i bet i could find a way to smooth it out," he said, winking. shrugging, he let go of her shoulders and motioned silently to princess the skitty to get ready and go out. " nope," he said, speaking candidly and easily to try and make this as simple as possible for his new potential girlfriend. " princess here goes out there so you don't have to, and brings you back a pokemon. it could be anything - from a dunsparce to a charmander!" he said, smiling at the end of his little spiel. whitened teeth glinting in the sunlight, he flicked his fingers in princess' direction. the beleaguered little pokemon rolled her eyes and sighed, rising from the ground and pattering off into the grounds and disappearing after a few moments. laughing a little at something she had said earlier - pass a test, that was a new one - to pass the time, coby handed her a package of goodies which every new trainer got, free of charge, from the ranger corps. " here you go! my shout," he said, winking again. " you know what else could be my shout? let me buy you a drink," he said smoothly. goodness, would princess hurry up and come back soon or what?

He just doesn't give up, does he? Feran thought to herself. Before she could muster up enough creativity to rebut, the ranger let go of her much to her relief. She shuffled to the side, leaving as much space between him and her as possible. There was only so far she could go in the tent despite its large stature. Feran crossed her arms in front of her while she listened to Coby's explanation. The whole process seemed simple enough although it was filled with more waiting. Patience was not one of her virtues even though her whole career was based on patient labor.
She took the package from his hands and nestled it deep within her tote bag. Feran certainly didn't expect to be given this much right off the bat. Perhaps a few pokeballs and a healing item or two, but not a few extra berries for the road. It was a generous notion, don't get her wrong, but she definitely had a shopping day in the future. Her eyes looked towards the area the skitty headed off to but no sign of the pink feline was apparent. She sighed knowing she'd have to be stuck with this kid for a few more minutes. "I'd rather have the money, thanks," Feran said, turning down his offer for a drink.

ranger encounter! feeling a little dejected now that his new trainer hottie was backing off, the instant he let her go, nevertheless coby's job was get this trainer a pokemon and send her on her way. with or without his number in her phone. "b]darling, i couldn't have enough money for you if i robbed a bank. beauty like that is priceless,
[/b]" he tried, one last time in case she finally relented. he didn't like his chances, but ranger coby was never one to give up. princess arrived a few moments later, herding a pokemon before her with quick yips like a dog. the reason for this became clear soon enough - the psychic sheep pokemon, gothita, hopped along on dark black hooves and settled in front of the trainer. doing an impromptu dance on those hooves - which clacked neatly on any surface including the damp earth on which the rangers' tent was erected - she showed how happy she was to join this trainer and greeted her merrily. < hello! hi! nice to meet you! > tapping away as she awaited appraisal, she couldn't keep her happy feet steady and kept tap, tap, tapping away. coby winked at her one last time before sticking his hands in his pockets and humming. " well then, you're all set. and if you need anything, anything at all," he said, suddenly bringing a hand out of his pocket with a number scrawled on the back of an envelope, " don't hesitate to give me a call." CAPTURED GOTHITA level 05 • frisk • female pound, confusion, captivate energetic, loves to tapdance[/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote][/size][/justify]

"Well it looks like you better get started on that," Feran said, brushing away a bit of her bangs from her face. The yipping mews of the Skitty brought her attention away from Coby and back to the space ahead of her. Her dark eyes lit up at the sight of her new pet. She bent down, hands placed on her knees, to get a closer look at the little psychic type. "I see you have even pokemon from Unova here," Feran commented, placing a hand on the top of the Gothita's head. It was nice to see something physical from home here, even more so since it would always be with her.
Feran stood back up, turned to face Coby, and extended her hand. "Thank you for your help," she said in a business-like manner. Grabbing the envelope from his hands before she left, Feran gave one last thanks in the form of a smile and set off towards the opening route, pokemon in tow. She'd rather wait to deal with placing her pokemon in its respective ball later. For now, she just wanted to get away from Coby and his never-ending pick-up lines.
