Nora looked around and still didn't quite notice the Bidoof as she was more worried about her Pokemon. After finding a more open area down the road as she carried her Pokemon, she found a nice place to stop and rest. Ice's ear twitched at the hissing noise, but Nora started unpacking lunch. Putting a blanket down on the ground, she rolled up the top of it to give Ice a little pillow space.
The smell of Nora's cooking gave Ice a second wind, as the French Onion soup she made was always classic... and cheap! Nora didn't believe in Pokemon food for her team, as she knew the in's and outs of cooking very well. So long as she had a kitchen somewhere, she could prepare a small feast for the road. Since the town wasn't very far from here,
Since she didn't believe in putting out, she had to please her man somehow... though most of her relationships in the past were business arrangements.
"You packed that bread too, didn'tcha?"
"Good nose!"
Ice eventually sat up, cupping the soup cup in her hands as Nora poured. It was odd for her to like hot soup as an Ice Pokemon, but it felt good doing down. The onions were soft enough not to need a spoon, and the large heated holder she kept had several servings for the road. Her satchel was fairly large, but she also had a small backpack. Opening that up, she had a loaf of home made bread.
Breaking off a piece, she laid one down next to Ice, taking a chunk for herself and dunking it into a bit of her soup.
"Feeling better?"
"Oh man! Chow never looked so good!"
If it was one thing she couldn't be accused of, it was purely lying. She did tell the Kakuna she would even cook.

[STYLE=border-bottom: 5px solid #FFC7FF;] [/style] The bidoof was still watching and was quietly sneaking up as quietly as she could through the grass and smelled the delicious food. Instead of walking cautiously, she was making loud thumps through the grass with each steps, and suddenly she stepped on like fifty branches on her way to the fire. Then she basically just sat down right in front of the fire staring at it. Mesmerized by the pretty colors it was making and then reached out a claw to try touching it, then yelped as she jumped back...running a little ways away for a minute. Cautiously approaching again, but this time, staying at least three feet away from the flames. Ooo, great fire maker, what can I get for you? So I can appease your favors, and learn the ancient ways to make FIAR, I'd love to have some food...please. the bidoof said as she rolled over on her back. Pawing at the air as if she was a dog, and was acting a little weird even for a pokemon's standards hoping her begging act would get her food as her eyes widened a little. Giving the trainer the most innocent stare possible and made her lower lip tremble softly. ::bidoof:: Level 7 | Female | Bidoof normal Simple | Unaware tackle - growl Simple-minded - Likes "SHINY" things - hates battles - clumsy

Ice was still a little groggy when the beaver Pokemon made her way over. Nora also noticed the loud tail-slapping.
"It's not too far from one of the two towns, I think we can afford to share a bit."
"She... thinks we're cool because we have a campfire."
Though Ice wasn't a fan of fire, she knew Nora needed it. Even the somewhat hard-hearted Lenora was starting to "dawwww" at the simple-minded Pokemon.
"Alright, a little bread, but I'm keeping the soup between Ice and I."
Taking a hunk of the homemade bread from the bigger chunk, she left the little bit next to the Bidoof so she could have a little snack. The poor thing appeared to be trying so hard to beg, so a small reward couldn't hurt.
"Ooohh... glad she's the friendly type. Maaaaan, am I still bruising!"

[STYLE=border-bottom: 5px solid #FFC7FF;] [/style] Even as the bidoof was still on it's back and she looked at the trainer for a minute. Was this generosity really needed just for her? Well it didn't matter she was already eating the bread right away and wagging her tail slowly at the same time as stubby as it was. Since the evolved form had the bigger tail, but she was slightly shivering suddenly. Nodding her head vigorously, but soon she was staring at the fire again as her belly was feeling better. Unconsciously starting to munch on some grass for the time she was there, and then looked back up to the human. Noticing that the ice pokemon could speak human too, but she couldn't understand it, F...i....a....r, teach me how to make fire please! she said, bouncing up and down on the spot now as she started to prance around the fire in a rather tribal fashion, using her hind legs to try standing up making her paws rise to the air in a little strange chanting gesture. Repeating that phrase over and over. "Oh... how to start a fire?"
Well, she started that one with a lighter, but... oh, it was back to Ranger Scouts with the stick rubbing. Ice was just leaning back on her blanket with her arms at the back of her head, ready to watch the hilarious ensue.
"Well, there are several ways... Oh, it's been awhile since I did it the old fashioned way."
Looking around, she found some dead grass and a few fallen leaves. Finding a decent stick was a little hard in the spring.
"It takes a long, long time, but Ice has time for a rest. You need tinder, a stout stick, a sharp knife or claw... and a lot of patience."
Finding a large enough dry piece of wood, she took out a small pocket knife and made a round area, also rounding off the ends of a stick. Putting the tinder around it, and having a small pile of tinder around, she tried to put all of her old scout training from her summer camps to good use.
"Alright... lots of friction."
Most did it with a bow, but she rubbed the stick up and down in short but hard spurts...
Ten minutes passed... and she actually managed to get some smoke to work! A sarcastic applause came from Ice as she continued to blow gently on it every now and then to try and get it rolling.

-------- WILD BIDOOF!
The Bidoof was pretty out of it, staring at the human's technique with a clearly interested expression. She constantly reminded herself to take mental notes on the fire making process, occasionally bobbing her head up and down to show to her graceful teacher that she was paying attention. Her attentive stare might've looked as if she adored every word, but what she heard in one ear hardly went processed in her brain. <I see, I see. FIARRR.> She chattered with a dumb grin on her face, unable to contain her glee with her new knowledge.
Friction sounded like quite the fancy word, so she already felt smarter at the lesson! She figured that she could use her claws and whatever things she could find on the ground in order to make a fire, so it couldn't be too bad. She stared at the Nora's construction with the same intense expression, unable to remove her gaze from the rising smoke. It looked as if sparks were appearing after all of that hard work! <Wowwww...I didn't think that was possible!> She exclaimed, suddenly eager to give it a try. She decided to give it a try with her own paws, copying Lenora by resting a mess of dry grass and twigs on the ground. Weilding a stick in her paw, she started to rake her claw against the twig in a furious attempt to create friction.
Her claw felt hot and tired after a while, so she took breaks by switching paws every now and then. She looked extremely focused as she kept working on the technique, stumbling a little as smoke refused to rise. Was she even doing it right? She looked at her twigs with doubt, but continued to work at it. Well, Lenora didn't quite make fire yet, so it was probably ok.

Pausing from her own attempt, she looked up and saw the Bidoof using her own claw as a scraping point. Ice snickered, wondering how long Nora's patience would last trying to teach the wild Pokemon how to make a fire.
"Oh no. You use your claw to carve the ends to something round. Like this. Then you carve a little dip in the wood on the bottom half. See?"
Showing the Bidoof the stick and how she carved the end so it would rub better, she pointed to the other piece of wood surrounded by timber. Motioning with both hands how to rub the stick on the piece of dry wood, she moved slowly at first, hoping the Bidoof would get it.

Obviously she wasn’t meant for learning new things… But it would be so great if she could get a fire going then she’d have something shiny she could make on her own! Granted it wasn’t the same as holding a shiny item… >Maybe instead… you could help me find a shiny item?< she asked lightly hoping the trainer would agree to.

"She wants something shiny."
"Shiney? Oh... well... what can I make shiny?"
"You still got the cases from the potions you used?"
There were other reasons Nora taught Ice how to speak... she had a head on her shoulders and a point of view that Nora didn't have. Rummaging through her bag, she brought out the two potion canisters she used from the fight before. The plastic on them was shiny enough, though it didn't sparkle like some things.
"How are these? I used the potion stuff in them, so I can't really do anything with the spray cans. I was just going to throw them away. Would you like them?"

The bidoof sat mesmerised by the fire in front of her and the knowledge Lenore was imparting to her. When she spotted the shiny canisters it suddenly became too much for the little beaver pokemon. Blinking slowly she grinned stupidly at the spray cans, making little grabby hand motions towards them. But before she got anywhere near them she collapsed in a dead faint. It was too much! She was overwhelmed with joy!
After a few tense minutes, the bidoof came around again, feet it the air, flat on her back once more. She reached towards the sky whispering, <Shinehh.....> Lenora could now safely presume that the bidoof would be happy with her gift!

Nora genuinely laughed. Ice just laid back and smiled at Nora, knowing that a rare moment like this was something she had to remember. If times got hard, she could always come back to this moment and say "Shiiiiiiineeh" and it would all come back to her. Leaving the two empty cans with the in-awe Pokemon, the camp they set up wasn't a full one.
"We have to put out the fire and head on out, my friend. Enjoy those, okay? I have to get to town and train to fight the gym leader. I have a long road ahead of me."
With that, Nora started looking for the water bucket to put out the fire. Ice was starting to feel better and stretched her shoulders out before rolling up the blanket and collecting the cups from the soup.
It would be up to the Bidoof if she wanted to come or not.

The bidoof clutched her new gifts, her eyes wide with pleasure. But at the mention of the pair leaving she looked up aghast. <Why would you go? We're wonderful! We have everything!> she declared. This sort of sounded like gibberish and in one respect it was. But the female bidoof couldn't bear the thought of the girl-who-made-fire-and-provided-shiny-things leaving. Tears stung her eyes and she held on tighter to the two canisters she'd been given.
As the sneasel rolled up the blanket, the bidoof was hit with a sudden need to do something. She jumped forward and landed on the half rolled blanket, in the middle of the soup cups. Splayed out like a starfish with one can in each paw she cried out, <If you want the blanket you'll have to take me too!!!> Courage, bidoof style.

Even the cold hearts of Ice and Nora couldn't resist the adorable nature of the Bidoof. Nora crossed her arms and smiled, appreciating her courage and determination.
"I'm out on a mission to defeat my brother. I got tired of people looking down on me when I was with my family. He's also a very bad bully. I have to get strong so I can beat him and get more... shiny things."
"Lenny... I don't see her as a fighter, but that kid's got cute written all over her. I'd say bring her for the ribbons! She wants shiny? She'll be in shiny hog heaven at those places."
Nora nodded and put the bucket down for a moment, sitting down next to Bidoof.
"There are places here with shiny things beyond your imagination. You can't keep all of them, but if you're content with a pair of empty cans and a fire... heh heh... you haven't been anywhere until you've been at a Coordinator competition. You have a natural cuteness. I think you'll do well. There may need to be a battle or two to help you learn how to defend yourself since the traveling might be dangerous, but other than that? I think you'll enjoy traveling with us."
Holding out a Pokeball, she would let the Bidoof press the button if she wanted to come along.
"I can even give you a cute new nickname if you'd like. You'll be performing on stage, so everyone will know who you are that way."

The bidoof heard something about a brother and gathered that they didn't like him. Eagerly she decided that she too didn't like him, even though she had never met him and had no idea why she wasn't supposed to like him. She nodded vigorously, sitting up on the blanket and then heard mention of shiny things! That was a good mission, an excellent mission. She was glad this person knew the value of shininess. Squeaking with anticipation she listened as Lenora described cities of shiny beyond her wildest dreams. The bidoof's eyes widened in amazement, hardly daring to believe it. Unconsciously she reached a little hand out to Nora with little grabby motions, her two canisters safely in her other paw. <Shineh citeh.... she murmured. She had no idea what this coordinator business was, the word was far too big for her. But she understood nickname and stage for sure!
<Promise?> she asked innocently, putting all her trust in this new trainer as she pressed the pokeball with her paw and allowed herself to be captured.

"I may not get it right all the time... but I do keep my promises."
Oh, she would have to put a leash on this one... once she saw the glowing lights of the electric city, she would be in heaven. Ice nodded and folded everything away. The city was not far away, but they would need to decide which junction to take to which city pretty soon. Nora decided it best to stop in Verona for supplies and a chance to sell the Kakuna.
"I like her... she's real. Dunno how she'll take to battle, though."
"Like I said... we will have to keep her to Coordinating."
Putting everything back in the satchel and backpack, they made their way forward. Ice had regained her health and they had a new friend should things get a little rough on the way. Once the city was in sight, she would unball the Bidoof to show her the pretty lights.
"So, Ice... any ideas on what to name her?"
"Bubbles? She'll be using water eventually."
"... That fits her personality, but Bubbles aren't... shiny, really."

------COUPLE TODD & MISSY!
♚ Age 15. Todd is timid & sensitive; Missy is a flippant, popular diva who often forces Todd to 'prove his worth' in battle. Unstable relationship.
With the Bidoof captured, there was plenty of free time to take a break and rest up at the camp. Nothing was going to bother them for at least a few hours, unless the trainer decided to cause a ruckus to make Pokemon appear. Instead there was nothing but silence, allowing Nora's Pokemon to regain a bit of free health. A cool breeze continued to blow past the group, giving its usual reminder that Spring had settled down with its refreshing but bitter temperatures.
"Todd, I'm cold. Give me your jacket." A sassy voice interrupted the silence of the route, though the voice was quite a bit off from where Lenora and Black Ice were resting. Their conversation would prove to be interesting, even if the young couple couldn't be seen from behind the trees. "Aww, but..." Todd flinched and held his favorite green jacket closer to his chest, not wanting to part with something so warm. Besides, he told Missy earlier that it was going to be a bit chilly today. Why'd she go off and decide to wear such a short skirt? He fretfully stared at her cold legs, then back to her miffed expression. "Don't catechize me." She could tell what he was thinking and she didn't like it at all. She stomped her foot right down as she glared right at him, hardly backing down when her dominance was asserted.
Todd gulped when she gave him that look, which meant that he had to do it if he wanted to stay in a relationship with her. "Now." That was her final warning, and her tongue was as sharp as a guillotine dangling over his head. That was enough to scare him out of his wits, tossing his coat at her out of fear. Now that was a bit awkward, and she didn't seem very happy about having a coat in her face, but she got what she wanted. "Ugh, attitude!" She snorted, shoving her arms through each arm hole to spare her body from the cold. Ah, now that was better.

Nora and Ice just paused to listen to the two bicker. Quietly Ice got close to Nora, making a "whoo-chee! Whoo-chee!" noise while flicking her wrist like a whip. Nora couldn't help but chuckle as they listened to the two bicker. She couldn't help but bring her own overcoat a little closer. Ice was... well, an Ice Pokemon. It was a little warm for her tastes.
"Pssst... Lenny... What kind of Pokemon ya think they got?"
"Two of them... they would be good practice for the gym leader... and Amp."
"Don't think she'll listen to ya much..."
"She wants to unload some aggression, right?"
It was then, as was proper trainer protocol, that Nora at last made herself known, looking the girl in the eye.
"Salutations... Out for a stroll?"

COUPLE TODD & MISSY! Well, it seemed that for the minute Lenora had been ignored as Todd kept on pleading towards Missy to give him back his jacket, saying that he was freezing cold now. However, all he got in return was a ice cold stare from his girlfriend, before she magiaclly held a mallet in her hands. "Oh god no....not the mallet!" He screamed as he scrambled to the floor and went inot the foetal posistion, wimpering slightly before Missy placed a foot on his body before raising her face to the sky as if she had won a war. It was then that she noticed the trainer, before she waved at her. "Oh hello there. Sorry if we interrupted you. My boyfriend Todd here was being rather...clingly towards somthing and refused to share it with me." She snorted, as Todd gave another wimper from the groud, wondering when Missy was going to let him stand up.

"I see..."
Nora was starting to question the sanity of this girl, but Ice at least appeared entertained. Taking a moment to put her response together, Nora decided being polite was the best thing. If the girl was that unstable to her boyfriend, there was no telling how she would react in a Pokemon battle.
"No bother at all. I was wondering, however, how close Electric City was from here. I am running low on potions and I've noticed a lot of poison-type Pokemon around here. A few more antidotes would be a good idea."

[STYLE=border-bottom: 5px solid #FFC7FF;] [/style] COUPLE TODD & MISSY! "Oh well, you're not too far off from the city of course, but I doubt you'd want to go there when you have such wonderful company in front of you already!" she said, Missy was mainly referring to herself, but Todd merely nodded since he'd get beaten if he didn't. Whatever the case may be, Todd was merely nodding his head to them, "This here is Missy," he said to her, and she flipped her hair in his face. It literally brushed his face making him sniffle, and then sneeze all over his own jacket. "TODD! That's gross, show some repsect to a refined lady such as her and myself. You don't want me to beat you again do you?" she glared at him, revealing the same mallet that had been target practice for his head so many times. Todd then started to diligently to wipe the mucus off the jacket and groaned at having to do this as he soon sprayed some disinfectant on it. Using it on his own hands too since he knew Missy wouldn't let Todd touch her at all. "Yes, Missy," he said submissively, and soon stood back a little farther than usual. "Perhaps we should prepare you for the gym, but I think we'll win in this case, I have strong confidence in my pokemon...plus no one can best us in a two on two battle!" she boasted, basically dragging Todd into this mess as well. "What do you say, girl?" she leaned forward, and inquisitively while glaring at Todd to release his pokemon. "Of c-course" Todd said as his skorupi beamed out. Then Dianne, appeared too, the sandshrew that had a smug look on her face. "This is Dianne, and that's Todd's creepy looking Dagger, I swear, you should choose more refined pokemon Todd, this is a disgrace to our battling team," she said to him, waving her finger. Todd merely nodded shyly and suddenly looked at the other trainer with those eyes that said he was whipped by Missy no matter which way you looked at it. Missy tapped her foot as she waited for an answer, and her sandshrew yawned softly, soon looking at the skorupi. Hey ugly, I bet you're jealous that I learned dig and you didn't! I can't wait to use it on these trainer's pokemon to show how graceful it is! Dianne boasted as the skorupi merely looked dumbfounded at the sandshrew. For one to be graceful in the dirt, you'd first have to be seen by the opposing party to comment on it, the skorupi retorted. Not that I wouldn't mind seeing your behind wiggling in front of me, wink wink, the skorupi mentioned to the sandshrew, causing the sandshrew to shudder as they then returned their attention back to the opposing trainer. ::skorupi:: DAGGER (M) 7 Poison/Bug Battle Armor || Sniper Bite | Poison Sting | Leer | Knock Off Creepy - Clever - Detail-oriented - Belongs to Todd
