Name: Sumi Matsuko Gender: Female Date of birth [Age]: May 9th, 1995 (17 years old)
Appearance: Sumi is a bit smaller than most her age, appearing to look years younger than she really is. Her frame is small and light, which makes her quick on her feet. Her face is nicely rounded, with slightly rosy cheeks which make her seem like she's blushing most of the time. Her eyes are large and wide, giving her a happy and innocent look, further making her look younger. The color is a vivid amber color which seems to get deeper when she's angry or sad. Her hair is a minty leaf green color, coming down in choppy layers to her shoulders. She doesn't really care what it looks like usually having it a tad messy and unkempt.
You'll rarely see Sumi without her oversized hat. It's pale orange in color, sitting comfortable atop her head. It looks so big that even her small Eevee could fit inside. The hat tends to slide to one side or the other when she's running but it doesn't seem to bother her in the least. It was given to her by her older brother who left to be a Pokemon Trainer when she was younger. Since then she's never wanted to take it off.
Speaking of oversized clothing, she also wears a large jacket, the same color as her hat. She wears it around her shoulders, letting the sleeves hang freely. It's a wonder the thing never falls off. Along with that she wears a light pink colored blouse, with a darker pink ribbion tied around her middle. She also wears comfortable, loose fitting blue jeans and simple brown shoes. Sumi likes traveling light otherwise, so she usually doesn't carry a pack unless it's needed.
History: Sumi was born into a pretty laid back family. Her Mother was a Breeder, usually off working at the Ranch, her Father a Coordinator was always away in different towns. The only other family she had was an older brother who took care of her most of the time. She followed him around everywhere, trying to copy what he did and even try to show off to him. This is most likely where she got her sometimes "boyish" appearance and attitude. Because her Parents were gone almost all of the time, there was a lack of rules in the household. She could go out whenever she liked, stay out as long as she wanted, and never had to check in. Living in Goldenrod City always gave her things to do when she ventured out into the city. Yet she would never get into much trouble despite not having any rules to abide by. Perhaps it was the influence of her brother who kept her grounded and not uncontrollable like other kids would be under these circumstances.
The only time Sumi would really see her Mother is when she ventured off to the Ranch. Most of the time she only went there to play with the many Pokemon her Mother bred and took care of. She would squeeze under the fence just to avoid her, and usually wouldn't be seen. Even when she was, her Mother would usually say hello, ask how she was doing, and before getting an answer run off to go do something else. At this age Sumi didn't really mind, or realize how uncaring her Parents were. Maybe it was because she had her brother to keep her cared for.
When she was thirteen her brother decided to leave and start his journey as a Pokemon Trainer. She begged him not to leave, yet she knew this was his dream and holding him back would be wrong. She was old enough to take care of herself now...but she still tried nonetheless. Later that day he left her with his favorite hat, a kiss on the cheek, and a goodbye wave. Other than a few emails and letters she never saw him again.
The first few months without her brother was difficult for Sumi. Before she hadn't cared about her Parents being gone all the time, but now that her brother was gone and she was almost totally alone it really hit her. The sense of having no one...it was unbearable. She spent many nights crying in her empty house, not knowing what to do with her days. She would travel out into the wilderness, befriending Pokemon and playing with them. It wasn't the same as human interaction...but maybe it was even better. They seemed to understand her loneliness, and it made the days after her brother left bearable.
Years of the same routines started to bore her. The Pokemon she had befriended began to move on, leaving her behind. She wanted companions she could keep permanently, she wanted to take care of them like her brother took care of her. That day she decided she wanted to become a Pokemon Trainer like him. Determined she got a job, worked endless hours, and saved up as much money as she could. At seventeen she visited her Mother's ranch. Finally for the first time since she was born her Mother was actually surprised. Sumi sat down and had the longest conversation with her Mother....they hadn't talked this long ever actually, yet it was nice. She explained that she wanted to leave Goldenrod, start her own journey, and begin a new life in a new place. This was the first time she saw her Mother cry...her Mother beg...it was the day of many firsts. Yet just like her brother she didn't give into the tears, and after many hours of calming her Mother down it was time to go.
Gathering her saved money, and all the other belonging she could carry, she left in search of her own beginning. Into the life of a Pokemon Trainer...and into a life where she would never be alone again.
After many weeks of traveling, she finds herself in a new region called Cheyenne. One she never heard about. Yet she's excited to see what this new place has to offer. She hopes that she can become even a better trainer than her brother.
Interactions with Pokemon: Since Sumi's Mother was a Breeder, she had almost constant interactions with Pokemon whenever she visited the Ranch. She would help clean up, and play with the Pokemon. Learning many things about them along the way. Later on after her brother left, she would venture out into the wilderness. Finding different Pokemon and befriending them. She met countless different types and sizes, not really caring other than having someone to keep her company. Even if it was a Pokemon. Earlier on, when her brother got his starter pokemon before leaving, a pidgey, she would play with it constantly. Always taking it out of it's ball and letting it fly around the house. When her brother left, that was yet another blow to her heart. She still thinks about the little pidgey to this day.
Personality:
- Energized
Sumi is always full of energy and ready to see where life takes her. It's almost impossible to dampen her light spirit.
- Tomboyish
Sumi isn't afraid to get down and dirty. Climbing trees, exploring dark caves, and even rock climbing. To put it simple, she's not a huge girly girl.
- Passion
Sumi has a passion for pokemon and companionship from them. She loves to take care of them, and it's one of her biggest dreams in the world to have pokemon of her own.
One word that could describe Sumi is, energy. She's one of the most energetic and friendly people you'll ever meet. Being raised in a very open and laid back enviroment, she's been given freedom to do almost anything she likes. Yet she's not much of a troublemaker and tends to like peace more than mayhem. Most of the time she gives off a warm bubbly aura, always trying to make new friends and make every day fun and exciting. There is never a dull time in her day really, unless she's forced to do some actual work like cleaning, or paperwork at the Ranch. Otherwise she's always running around, to different places, towns, and entertainment areas. It's amazing how much she can travel in one day, yet almost always make it back to her Ranch in time to close up. This girl never seems to run out of energy, yet she sleeps like a hibernating bear. She's such a heavy sleeper, near to nothing will wake her up until she's ready.
Just because she's bubbly and sweet, doesn't mean she's not afraid to get dirty. All her life she's been labeled the "tomboy". Mainly because her uncaring attitude towards appearance. She wears baggy, oversized, yet comfortable clothes most of the time. Also she loves getting into things, and having a fun time...not caring if she makes a complete mess of herself. This can include climbing the highest trees, exploring caves, or playing in the wilderness with Pokemon. Either way Sumi loves to have fun. This doesn't mean she doesn't like pretty things...because she does. Anything colorful, or shiny catches her attention. She also has a thing for stuffed animals, pocky, manga, and a love of technology. If she didn't have a Ranch to look after she'd most likely sit around, eat pocky, read, then run off to find another fun adventure. Like stated before, Sumi's day is never a dull one.
Not everything about Sumi is perfect though. Just like everyone else in the world she has her days too. At times Sumi can do a total 180, becoming sarcastic, and hot-headed. It usually happens when something doesn't turn out right, or if she's hurt and doesn't want to show it. But if she becomes like this you better watch out. Even her close friends won't be exempt from her anger, or rudeness. It's best to leave her alone during a time like this, but sometimes that's impossible. Perhaps the only thing that will calm her down is a box of Pocky...maybe?
On the other hand, the time you'll see Sumi in a whole new light is when she's caring for Pokemon. There is a peace that comes over her when she's working happily on the Ranch. She's caring and understanding. This also goes for friends. If she can do something to help, she will. She's one person you can come to for anything. Also someone who isn't afraid to have a great time. She's a loyal friend, no matter what happens.
Pre-starter information: ----
Goals in Cheyenne: Her first goal is to get her first Pokemon. She wants something that won't run away, and something that she can bond with. After that she of course wants to collect more Pokemon, train them, and become the best Trainer she can be. Hopefully making her Brother proud.
