This time, the Nidoran tried to get out of the way of the attack she knew was coming, but she was still too slow and ended up tripping and falling to the ground. The bug slammed into her side near her face, causing her to roll over with the Caterpie on top of her. Lily got up and pushed the other Pokemon away. This battle was getting interesting.
"Try Growl first this time," Darko said. The Nidoran nodded. She did not feel anxious or stressed because this was not a dangerous battle. It was simply for training, right? She let a low growl emit from her throat before leaping at the Caterpie, hoping to hit this time.

The Caterpie grinned with glee as she hit the Nidoran, but now poison was seeping into her body from the poison spikes all over the pastel colored rabbit. She hardly noticed until the opposing Pokemon growled at her, and suddenly she didn't feel so good.
She felt even worse when she got hit by the Nidoran's tackle once more. Grimmacing, she tried to fight through the poison and the lowered attack status, knowing that she wouldn't be able to handle the poison after too long. < Hey, um, I think I'm poisoned over here! > She called to the trainer, hoping she had something to fix it before she fainted from it.

Upon hearing that the Caterpie was poisoned, Lily first felt happy. She had managed to inflict it without even meaning to! But then she remembered the reason for the battle and she frowned. The bug probably would not last long now. She liked a fair battle. <I didn't mean to do it!> she called to her trainer. She still wanted to win, but she did not mind if it took a bit longer than normal. She did not noticed her opponent coming after her again, so she was hit by the Tackle. She felt dizzy when she stood up, but she shook it off. She waited a few heartbeats before trying another tackle.
Darko had noticed how the Caterpie had hit Lily's needles when she collided with her. Now she seemed distressed. It was safe to assume that she was poisoned. He frowned slightly. That was probably not very comfortable. He suddenly remembered that he had a couple pecha berries on hand that could cure poison. Why had he not thought of that when his Sewaddle had been poisoned by the Stunky? Oh well. He qucikly opened up his bag and pulled out the berry. He carefully set that on the ground. "You can get this when you can," he said to the Caterpie, not wanting to interfere too much with the battle.

This trainer was so super nice, she had everything thought out and such too... Her tail wriggled as she went to crawl over to the berry and gobble it up as quickly as she could. Unfortunately, now she was distracted by the tiny berry too much to notice the incoming tackle attack! Her health dove way down into the red, her strength now almost gone.
It was time to try her best, so she let out another string shot at the Nidoran who was still pretty close to her, before using the sticky white string to propel herself into a tackle attack at the Nidoran! She hadn't gotten to the core of the berry yet though, which was where all of the healing was... her health ticked down and she groaned again, knowing that she really had to eat that berry, and quick! Success! Lily smiled happily. But a second later she was hit by the String Shot. Ew. It would take forever to clean it off now! She was surprised when she was knocked off her feet by the Caterpie. She had not seen that coming. She stood up more slowly this time. She was feeling tired now, so she decided to just stick with Growl for the moment. It did not look like the little bug had much strength left anyway.
"Nice," Darko said with a nod, talking to both Pokemon. This was an interesting battle. He was proud of his Nidoran for fighting so well. She just needed more training to improve her skills. Perhaps the same could be said of the Caterpie. He liked that she was not giving up. It was something he could admire.

Yay! She had won! The battle had actually been quite fun. The Nidoran was sure she could do it again in the future. She nodded at the Caterpie. <Yeah, it was great. Good job. Just practice some more and you'll be fine.> She lay down to rest a bit. The sun felt good on her back. She glanced at Darko to see what he would do with the other Pokemon.
"Good battling, both of you," the trainer said with a small smile. He was reminded of why he loved Pokemon. He was sure he had a great journey ahead of him. He knelt down near the Caterpie so that he could see her better. "I like your spirit, little one. Would you like to come with us? I could train you to become big and strong." If he found her the right opponent, he was sure he could do it.

<Oh, yes, those are really nice,> Lily said in answer to the Caterpie's question. Pokeballs were much safer than lying out in the forest and exposing yourself to attack too. She smiled and nodded at her trainer to let him know that the wild Pokemon had agreed to come with them. The Nidoran was happy with the decision. They could use more girls on their team!
Darko got the message and smiled. He was excited to begin training the little Caterpie. She seemed to have a lot of potential. This would be his seventh Pokeball, though, so he would have to remind himself to trade one of his Pokemon once he got to the city so that the bug could have a chance to explore. He took out a Pokeball and laid it next to the tired Pokemon. It looked like she could use a rest. "There you go."

But she got to it and with her cute little nose she pressed the button on the front. With a red flash of light, she disappeared inside of the little red and white sphere. The little pokeball shook once, twice, and three times and the caterpie didn’t try to go against the pokeball trying to capture her for she wanted to be with this trainer now. And then finally a light ding went of signaling that the little caterpie had indeed been captured! Not too far away, up in the trees the leaves were shaking. What was up there? Well that was up to the trainer to find out! Unless perhaps said trainer wants to run to the pokecenter first, although when she came back whatever was in the trees would probably still be there. Darko smiled in satisfaction as he bent down to pick up the Pokeball. He carefully put it away before turning to his Nidoran. "Shall we go on?" He said. He paused when he heard a rustling in the leaves.
Lily heard it too. She jumped up and ran over to a tree. She put her paws on the trunk and stared up into the leaves. <What's up there?> she asked curiously. Her tiredness from her previous battle was forgotten.
Darko came to stand behind her. He shielded his eyes with his hand so he could get a better look at the top of the tree. "Hello?" he called. He decided to wait and see if something would show itself. Perhaps it was a flying Pokemon. He could use one of those. He had it in his mind to catch one more Pokemon before leaving the route.

The Nidoran jumped back in shock when something fell out of the tree. It was a Buneary! Lily frowned when the wild Pokemon began to cry. She did not like to see others like this. She knew what it was like to feel such sadness. <I'm sorry if I scared you,> she said, not sure why the bunny had fallen out of the tree.
Darko let out a small gasp and rushed forward. He had not meant for anyone to get hurt. This little Buneary look sad and vulnerable. He stopped himself a few feet away from the Pokemon, remembering how his Sewaddle had distrusted him at first. "Are you okay?" he asked cautiously. He hoped she was not seriously hurt. He did not like to see injured Pokemon.

Darko frowned when the Buneary began to cry again. She seemed to be upset easily. Or maybe this was just bad timing. He wanted to do something to make her feel better, but what? Last time, touching had not been a good idea. He had to first let her know that he was friendly. Could food work? He knew it was often used to lure Pokemon. It was worth a shot. He pulled off his bag and pulled out a small block of Pokemon food. He placed it in his hand and held it out to the wild Pokemon. He wanted to see if she would take it from him.

[STYLE=border-bottom: 5px solid #FFC7FF;] [/style] The buneary looked at the block of food, and was curious enough to stand on her hind legs to try reaching for it. Instead, a new Pokémon entered the scene rather forceffully as she had been sitting back waiting for the right moment to strike. As fast as she had appeared, the nincada used a scratch attack on the food block and quickly retreated back up into the trees as she skittered as quickly as she could away. The buneary jumped high in the air at the fact the nincada had appeared out of nowhere, and ended up landing on her butt again causing her to cry even louder. Then she noticed the food again, and was still sniffling as her fur was covered in tears now, and the nincada hadn't helped. The nincada was up on the branch and watching with her beady little eyes again within range to see what else the trainer had in case she wanted to jump down again. Obviously she was a scavenger and was used to getting things her way. Then she suddenly started to spout off a story randomly from where she was. Have you heard the story about the buneary and the spider? the nincada asked, and rubbed her front claws together as she licked her fangs softly with her tongue. The claws grating against each other and looked like they were making sparks as she looked at the buneary while doing so. The buneary was slowly stopping to a halt as the nincada was almost starting to make her want to cry again. Darko's whole body flinched when the Nincada suddenly appeared. He gasped in surprise as it scratched the food. "Hey!" he exclaimed. "What's the big idea?" He flicked his eyes in annoyance. The Pokemon was gone now. It seemed like she had only appeared to cause trouble. The food block was now shredded into small pieces. He glanced up at the tree with narrowed eyes as he slowly moved his hand to put the food down on the ground near the Buneary. He did not appreciate how the situation had gotten worse. He was ready if the Nincada decided to come down again.
Lily had jumped in surprise as well. She growled in the direction of the Nincada. That was very rude! <Leave us alone!> she called up into the leaves before aiming a Tackle attack at the tree.

Lily let out a small gasp, horrified at the story. She could see the Buneary did not like it either. Did the Nincada have any purpose other than to be mean? The Nidoran did not like bullies. She looked up at the spider and growled. <Why don't you come down here and fight?> It was no use. The Pokemon was too far away. Lily turned to Darko and gave him a discouraged look. <I can't reach her.>
Darko glanced at his Pokemon. It looked like she wanted to fight the Nincada. He did not think that was such a good idea. She was still tired from her last level, and that bug looked tricky. Besides, she could not reach her. Is that what she was trying to say? He looked at the Buneary. Not even the food seemed to be helping her now. The trainer only had one Pokemon on hand that could attack the Nincada with her current position. He took out a Pokeball and tossed it open. "Thep, use String Shot up in that tree!"
The Sewaddle blinked as he appeared on the grass. What was going on? He quinted up at the tree. He was barely able to make out a shape of a Pokemon with his little eyes. It was this figure that he tried to aim for.

The foolish Nincada was hit with the String Shot, and two things happened. First she fell backwards off of her perch on the branch and began falling towards the ground, her legs dancing wildly in the air. Her legs quickly got wrapped up in the remaining sticky string and she tied herself up. She was dangling from the branch like an insect pinata and there wasn't a lot she could do. She squirmed around, swinging herself back and forth. But she couldn't free herself. Buneary saw what happened and giggled softly, covering her mouth and softening the laugh with her fluffy paw. Frustrated Nincada screamed loudly, her shell glimmering as she used a harden attack. The newly formed exoskeleton cut the string holding her and she fell to the ground, quickly rolling over onto her feet.
