Parallel flicked his tail nervously as he approached the crossroads. He had a choice now, to go straight onto Route One or to head to the Ranger Station. Nodding to himself he walked down the path towards the large tent that held the rangers. Flux was only a baby, so it would be good for him to find a pokemon companion for her, and if they were given a pokemon they didn't get along with then he was sure he could set up a trade somewhere.
He reached the tent a few minutes later and peered around. Releasing Flux from her pokeball he greeted her affectionately and she purred happily in response.
Looking around he asked the air, "Anyone here? I'm looking to find a pokemon."

::rangerm:: ::charmeleon:: ----- RANGER NICK & TRICK !
♔ Age 21. Male. Nick is a very competitive Ranger that hates being one upped. He likes to boast, and he adores flirting with both males and females. He also has commitment issues, and gets freaked out whenever they show too much interest in him.
There definitely was somebody around the Ranger Station, since there had to be someone on duty at all times. Otherwise the place was no fun, and all of those silly trainers would go to the Lab. Now that was most unfortunate! The first thing to greet them was a very large Quilava lying face down on the ground, looking like a large lump of fur near the door. He was a tripping hazard right there, and at first glance, he almost looked like he was dead. Oh no, Trick was quite alive. He simply had no muse to move or interact. Ever. The lazy Quilava didn't bother to move his head at the trainer's greeting, simply ignoring them until his trainer came into view. "Why, hello there." Nick had a comb in his groovy red afro as he walked out, dressed rather eccentrically for a place like this. For starters, he was coated in glow sticks. Why glow sticks? Because he wanted to light up your world, baby.
Nick looked Parallel up and down, letting out a purr as he liked what he saw. It wasn't everyday when a Pokemorph walked into his wonderful tent. This immediately brightened up his day, and if he had a tail, he was sure that it would be wagging at this point. "Well, aren't you precious?" He smirked, taking a few steps closer to his guests with a sneaky smile. "I'm Ranger Nick. It's a pleasure to meet your acquaintance." With a hand to his heart, he further expressed just how precious Parallel was. "And I see you met Trick. He's an absolute bundle of life, that one." He laughed, absentmindedly shaking his hand as if to shoo the Quilava out of here.
Of course, Trick still stuck around. It was an odd name for a Quilava, but somehow Nick found it very fitting. Perhaps it was because Trick liked trick others about his usefulness. Most of the time the Quilava really was dead weight, but Nick made good use of him when he could. The Quilava never failed to be a good conversation starter, and he could stay so limp, that Nick could use him as a scarf. It was the most fashionable thing ever!

Flux made her way over to the sleeping quilava, pleased to find another fire type. She chirped to him, but the quilava didn't even raise his head. She blinked at him, wondering if he was sick. Sliding back over to her trainer she looked around to see someone walking towards them.
Parallel's ears flicked towards the noise of an approaching ranger. He had to look twice to make sure his cat eyes weren't deceiving him, was that guy wearing glow sticks? In broad daylight? Well, maybe they had more of an effect in the tent... "Precious? Perhaps, but that is neither here nor there. I'm looking to find a pokemon to accompany Flux and I, would you be able to help us?" he asked, nodding to his slugma as he did so. He glanced at the lazy quilava, Trick was an unusual name for such a slothful creature, it could be an ironic name.
Flux nuzzled against Parallel as she took in her surroundings. She was looking forward to finding a new pokemon to play with. Hopefully they would find one here they got on with.

----- RANGER NICK & TRICK !
♔ Age 21. Male. Nick is a very competitive Ranger that hates being one upped. He likes to boast, and he adores flirting with both males and females. He also has commitment issues, and gets freaked out whenever they show too much interest in him.
Now this was a fairly formal creature, temporarily putting Nick off as he watched Parallel shove off his advances. Where was the fun in all of these formalities? "Help? I'm a professional at helping. I learned the way of the dance back in Pacifilog City! I've scaled Mt.Moon! I've tended to the young and frail at Goldenrod's Daycare! I've done many many things, and now I am here to help you start your journey." Nick proudly puffed out his chest at his mini life story, hoping that he could impress Parallel all the while. At the very least, some reassurance would've been nice. "Now, what you need is a REAL Pokemon! Something nice and strong! Your Slugma is adorable, but you should have something with flair and muscle. If I could get you a Machop, then things would be perfecto mundo." Ranger Nick couldn't pull off that kind of luck, but he had a knack for finding Pokemon that fit his tastes.
Deciding that Trick was going to be of some use, he scooped the lazy Quilava into his arms and plopped him around his neck like a scar. <Hrmm...> The Quilava groaned, not very pleased with being man handled in such a manner. "Now now, Trick. We're about to show Mr.Serious how we do it here in Cheyenne." He beamed, motioning for Parallel to follow him out of the tent. This was a job for a fantastic Pokemon Ranger, and Parallel found the best one of the crop. "This reminds me of my Pokemon Journey. The new lands! New adventures! Undiscovered Pokemon! I'm from Johto, by the way." Nick laughed, talking merrily as he paraded around the grassy fields. Something had to come along eventually, even though it looked as if there was nothing but grass and water for miles.
<Hehehehe!> A Gligar suddenly swooped from down below, popping out of the tall grass like it came out of a whack-a-mole game. It clattered its claws together at the sight of Nick's gigantic afro, giggling as it cut and snipped away at his hair. It was all too much fun to watch people freak out about a poor fashion statement, and this particular Gligar had been teasing Nick about his afro for weeks. "NOOO! Not again! Not my wig!" Nick shrieked, furious as he saw chunks of hair fall onto the ground. This was a nightmare that had to end, or else he'd lose more hair because of this pest of a Gligar! "I won't lose to you anymore! Trick, use Flamethrower!" Nick's shrill voice demanded, holding his Quilava like an actual flamethrower. Giving Trick a painful squeeze on his paws, the Quilava's eyes popped right open as a steady stream of fire escaped from his mouth. <Uh-oh...> The Gligar gulped, suddenly engulfed in a wave of flame as it fell to the ground. There was no way it could stand up to an attack of that magnitude, and soon it was down for the count. "Phew. Finally. You've been doing this long enough, you cretin." Nick snorted, taking out a Pokeball to seal the Gligar's fate.
"This is for my actual hair! In memory of those flowing locks!" He was starting to tear up after all of this, unable to contain his emotions as he sniffled in his spot. <Come on...you're annoying me.> Trick muttered, crawling back around his master's shoulders until he got himself comfortable. Slumping back down on his master's shoulders, the Quilava patiently waited for Nick to do his thing. "Let me have my moment, gosh!" He whined, finally tossing the Pokeball at the Gligar's head. The Pokeball collided with the Gligar's hardened skin, clonking it pretty decently as it sucked it inside. All it took was two shakes and the Gligar was captured, which was pretty good for a day's work. "There. This is your Pokemon. Enjoy." Nick stuffed the Gligar's Pokeball in a Starter Pack, quickly handing it off to Parallel as if the Pokemon was diseased. He seriously wanted nothing to do with the hair cutting demon. Good riddance!

Parallel's mind wandered slightly as he wondered whether all Cheyenne dwellers would talk as much as this ranger. He looked like such a strange young man, but who was he to really judge with his cat ears and tail? Having travelled most of the regions already, anything Nick said to him didn't seem very impressive as he had seen it all before. The difference now was that he was on his own, no family, no responsibilities. Flux nuzzled him again. Ok, not completely on his own then, he had his slugma and soon he would have more Pokémon to train with. Oh, Nick had stopped talking. Looking up at the ranger Parallel murmured, "Hmmm? Oh yes, very good, well done you." The next words out of the ranger's mouth however made the hair on the nape of his neck stand up straight. So he needed a real Pokémon did he? Flux wasn't good enough was she not? A hiss escaped his sharp teeth, but discipline held him in place. He wasn't going to attack this stupid boy, it would be a waste of energy.
Parallel controlled himself mentally, a slight twitch of his tail the only indication of his irritation.
And off Nick went again... Babbling to himself. Parallel took this opportunity to scan the immediate area and was intrigued to find many Pokémon surrounding them. To the untrained eye this place seemed deserted, but Par could see tracks and nests everywhere. He followed Nick along a desire path, Flux trailing behind him happily. The ranger in front of him showed no regard for subtlety, parading through the grass like an ignorant fool. The persian pokemorph winced as he sensed practically every Pokémon leave the immediate vicinity. Fortunately there was one particular Pokémon that decided to stick around, and he seemed to have a bone to pick with dear Nick. Without interfering with the attack he knew was about to happen, Parallel smirked as the gligar latched onto Nick's head and shredded his wig. Flux blinked in surprise at this strange turn of events, but Parallel was only too happy for the interruption. He liked this gligar. Though that may just have been because the gligar also disliked Nick... But how and ever! Parallel watched, trying not to laugh out loud, as Ranger Nick shrieked and waved Trick around at the dual type Pokémon. Such foolishness, but it got the job done. The gligar was captured quite quickly due to the fact that it was so young.
Ignoring Nick's ranting, Parallel silently agreed with Trick as he accepted the pack, with the gligar's pokeball inside, from the ranger. Grinning with genuine pleasure, Parallel winked at Ranger Nick, "Thanks mate, he'll be a great addition to the team." And with that he silently padded away, leaving the demented ranger and his lazy quilava behind.
