"So this is Cheyenne," Liz observed, nodding slowly. It had only been a week ago when she and her Vulpix, Kitsune, had taken the ferry from Johto to this new region. After making her way to a small town, a nurse at a Pokemon Center had directed her here.
She looked down at Kitsune, a smiling a bit nervously. "Think we're in the right place?" "Vul-vulpix!"<Sure, just look at that sign!> the fox cooed, tipping her narrow snout towards a signpost on the edge of the road. Liz stepped closer to read it. Route 1[/size] it read. Her green eyes lit up with amusement. "How... original!" She chuckled.
Kitsune watched as her trainer crouched down beside her. Her six tails wagged as one when Liz tickled her behind the ears. "Let's do a quick storage check, mmhmm?" Liz said, mostly to herself. The pale red vulpix laid down, resting her head on her paws. This wouldn't take long. Liz began muttering under her breath as she checked her many pockets.
"Some money, pokeballs, berry pouch, TM case, pokedex... Wow, is that all we have?" The redheaded trainer sounded a bit worried. "Hopefully this route isn't too long- we need some supplies. <Maybe there are some berry bushes,> Kitsune suggested softly. Liz nodded slowly, like she understood. Then she sighed, grinning. "I'm sorry, I have no idea what you just said."

Ah, the fresh beginnings of winter. Swarms were flowing in and traveling in search of warmer places with better food. Some predators were simply following after their prey, wandering around in routes where no one would ever expect them to be. Such was the case as two Beatrics rustled through the bushes, right in the view of the trainer. Luckily they hadn't taken notice of her and simply continued onward, not paying her any mind as they focused on their journey.
A small Cubchoo was curious though, knowing that all she had to do was cry and she would find her family. It was what her mother said, at least! She wasn't able to talk, but she could sure scamper when she wanted to. With a loud sniff, she tottered over to the trainer and her Vulpix and looked at them with some curiosity.
What were they doing? Were they travelling? She tilted her head in curiosity as the youngster continued to observe them. She was definitely in plain sight, but for some reason she didn't expect them to notice her.

Kitsune let out a bark of warning, backing up and pressing against Liz's legs. The red haired girl had a question on her lips, but was interrupted by a loud rustling. Several white spots appeared in the green undergrowth. She furrowed her brow, instinctively dropping into a running position. If that white creature was a danger, she was ready. Two Beartic burst through the bushes and trudged past not giving her a single look. Her mouth dropped open and Kitsune took a defensive stance. The huge pokemon didn't look aggressive, but you could never tell.
Liz didn't relax even after the Beartic had left- no way was she letting her guard down. A new, softer noise filled the air and Kitsune growled threateningly. They both stared on nervously and watched as a.... Cubchoo walked by? It toddled toward them, looking up with big, innocent eyes. Liz smiled at the cub, crouching down. "Hello there. Are you lost? I think your parents just left- they went that way." She pointed in the direction the Beartic were headed.
It was a bit tempting to try and catch this little pokemon. She was a to-be canine specialist, but that didn't mean she could only catch canines. Wait... there were the parents to be considered. Immediately she took a step back, hoping the parents didn't notice their cub was gone an retrace their steps.

Level 1|Female Snow Cloak Powder Snow Newborn - Adventurous - Can't Talk - Scatterbrained She glanced in the direction her parents had headed off in. She knew where they had gone... sorta. And she wasn't at all worried about finding them again. Mommy always seemed to come find her when she needed mommy! So she was more than happy to just stay with the trainer and her Vulpix for right now. They were more interesting anyways. Besides, her little legs were tired from walking. So she stumbled closer to trainer and poke'mon. She plopped down on her butt in the snow and smiled up at the trainer. This was fun.
Meanwhile, off in the distance, the sound of angry Beartics could be heard... uh oh.

Liz smiled at the little cubchoo as it sat down. Actually, it looked more like its legs had collapsed and it just happened to land on its butt. She was about to say something, but the growls and roars of Beartics interrupted her. "Not good!" She hissed under her breath. "Sorry, Cub. I can't be here when your parents find you. Beartic aren't exactly fond of their cubs interacting when humans.
"C'mon, Kitsune. We really need to go." The Vulpix quickly nodded and followed her trainer as Liz began to walk off. It was lucky that she was a Vulpix. Beartic were ice-type, they may be stronger than her-much stronger, but perhaps the sight of fire would be enough to keep them away. But if that troublesome cub started whining, they could say bye-bye to any hopes of getting away unscathed.

The Cubchoo wanted to play with the Vulipix's tail. She reached out to grab it, but it soon walked away. Her hand still in mid air the Cubchoo tilted her head to the side, confused why they were leaving. And then they got farther away. The Cubchoo sniffled and rubbed her eyes. She didn't want them to leave! She wanted to play more. Tears welled up in her eyes and she let loose, her crying followed the girl and her Fire type. Sadness clearly heard in the Cubchoo's cries, she wasn't happy at all! Her friends left her, SOB.
On a side note, the noises and roars of Beartic are getting closer. Dare you go back and comfort the Cubchoo or run away?

Oh, God. The Cubchoo was crying. And its parents were getting closer, from the sound of their roars. There were only two options here.
A) Run away B) Comfort the Cubchoo before its parents came.
The choice should've been obvious- run as fast as you can. But angry pokemon had a knack of summoning entire packs of their kind. One angry Beartic was bad. A whole swarm? No thank you!! Liz bounced on her feet, quickly running through her options. "Kitsune, can you tell that Cubchoo what's happening?" But what if it was simply too young to understand. The answer came to her in a flash: that would be bad.
Vul vulpix! <I'll try!> The fox pokemon replied. She padded back to the Cubchoo with Liz close behind. Vulpix, vul vul. Vul-pix, pix vulpix! <Hi there. Um, have you ever seen your parents angry? Its not pretty. We can't be seen by them. But we'll play again, I promise.> That was a lie, but the baby pokemon probably wouldn't know.

the cubchoo couldn't stop her sobs. they grew louder as they continued walking away. as her sobs grew louder, the yowling from the older bearctic grew louder as well. she couldn't help but want to cry harder at the sound of her oh-so boring mom coming to pick her up. no one liked those stuck up parents.
she couldn't talk. she had no way else of really communicating. when the vulpix came up, few words even made sense to her. the cubchoo went to wrap her arms around the vulpix's neck, as she wanted to sob in the rusty red fur of the feminine looking fox.

Kitsune yipped in protest. "Vulpix vulpix!" <No, let go!> She barked, shaking her furry head. The cubchoo may be a baby, but its grip was strong. The fire fox turned to Liz, yelping desperately.
"No, let go please!" Liz said, trying not to panic. The ice bear's cries had no doubt alerted the parents. She kneeled down, desperately trying to pry the cubchoo off her Vulpix. The furious sounds of Beartic was steadily growing louder. Why hadn't she ran when they had a chance? No time to think- only act.
Speaking in a soft, hopefully soothing voice, she tried to coax the little bear off and loosen its grip.

why was the vulpix being so mean? why was the trainer pushing her away? she didn't do anything to deserve this! cubchoo just wanted a friend, for once, but that friend didn't seem to want her. so what did she do? when the trainer started coaxing and pushing her away from the maroon vixen, she threw her arms around her chest area.
then she began to cry loudly again.
when her mommy got here, she was going to tell her everything! the cares were not present today, as she was going to get these two in so much trouble, they were going to have to sit in the corner for days!

"Vulpix vul vulpix." <She's not listening> Kitsune said. Had Liz been able to understand the Vulpix, her reply would've been 'Uh, duh.' But she didn't understand, and only glanced at Kitsune anxiously. "We better get going." Her trainer sighed and ran down the path, closely followed by the rusty-colored fox.
The roars were getting louder. It would only be a matter of time before the Beartic reached there cub, and then went after Liz and Kitsune. "Time for a detour!" Liz warned her pokemon, spinning on her heel and leaping into the undergrowth. Perhaps they could use the plants to disguise their scent and position.

::cubchoo:: pokemon encounter ! out of the blue. or more figuratively, out of the bush around the corner, and down the path a little ways came the mother beartic. she was roaring at the top of her lungs, calling out to her baby. when she got in line of sight with it, she roared in angry. < MY BABY! MY BABY! DINGO. DON'T EAT MY BAAABY! > at once, the huge blubbering mother came charging forwards. the cubchoo wailed pitifully. wondering why the fox and her trainer was being so mean to her.
she'd just wanted to play. nothing more! she threw back her head, initally setting her off balance. she knocked her head off the floor, throwing her into unconsciousness. what an idiot. the beartic thought that they'd killed her baby. she wailed in unease. < MY BABY! > she bent down to pick her up, trying to get over her fat rolls. and also kicking her feet, trying to get the pesky 'dingo' away from her.

Liz was rather shocked when the Beatic appeared. She really hadn't expected it to have so much fat on its body. It rushed towards the cubchoo, growling at Kitsune.
"I'm not a dingo, I'm a vulpix,'' the fox pokemon protested. "And I don't want to eat your cub, either. She heard Liz calling, telling her to get out of their. "Slowly, slowly," Liz encouraged her Vulpix. "Don't rush." She kept casting anxious glances at the mother Beatrix.
Liz's eyes locked onto the limp form of th whiney cubchoo, who seemed to have knocked itself out. Not good...

::cubchoo:: you have encountered a 'cubchoo' female // level 01 snow cloak powder snow newborn - can't talk - adventurous - scatter brained knocked herself out Oh dear; Moma Beartic was pissssssssssed off with the trainer now. Not only had the trainer and her pokekmon made her darling little pokemon cry and unconcious now, it was claiming that it wasn't their fought at all. And to top it all off, they were trying to back away from the scene now, as if they were going to make a runner from Her. Well, that wasn't going to happen at all. "Where you two trying to go to now? Not trying to leave all of this mess up to me to clear now?" The beartic growled as she cracked her knuckles before slowly walking towards the pair. "Why don't you come here and explain to me what happened too my little darling over there." she said, completely oblivious to the cubchoo being unconcious.

Liz and Kitsune tended as the Beatrix stepped forward aggressively. Liz kneeled down and placed a protective hand on her Vulpix's back. She had no idea what the two pokemon were swaying, but Momma didn't seem to like it. Kitsune began barking at the ice bear again, while Liz Bevan's scanning her surroundings for an escape. Perhaps one of those trees would have a small root cave to shelter in...
Kitsune sighed. This Beatrix would be a pain. "Look, we didn't hurt the cub. It wandered up to us, and when we left it started bawling. So my trainer tried to comfort him and then he started clinging to me." she sounded offended. Flicking her ear, she continued, "So we tried to take him off gently," emphasis on gently, "and that's when you came along.

pokemon encounter ! oh, so they were saying that it still wasn't their fault. right, bullshit. look at the poor cubchoo. it was wailing like it'd been beaten to death. wait a minute.. the beartic's head swerved when she realized that the baby wasn't crying anymore. it wasn't even moving! < my baaaaaby! > she cried. she turned to look at the fox, and the trainer. < scram, the lot of you! i'll get you back some day! > she hollered. roaring at the top of her lungs
she raced to her baby, cradeling it. again.. apparently she was as scatter-brained and stupid as her baby. no wonder, like mother like son. or daughter. either or. it didn't matter. the trainer and her pokemon had better run, though. otherwise that moma beartic was gonna tear them apart. literally. she wasn't even kidding. If you're going to tear someone to shreds, why tell them? Whatever, they had an escape route, and the would take it. These thoughts were running through Kitsune's head as she began tugging on Liz's jeans, urging her to run. "Oh, right!" Her trainer exclaimed. Jeez. How could she forget about running ASAP?! Liz grabbed the Vulpix, tucking her in the army green coat as she had a hundred times before. Liz sprinter past the Beatrix, shouting, "See ya!" as she passed.
For a moment, she considered having Kitsune start a fire. But then it might spread, and who knows what would happen then? So instead they stuck to plan A: run like hell!!

Were they ever going to get a break? First a bratty Cubchoo and its idiot mother come waltzing by. Now some haughty old Vullaby was trying to play kind?! I don't think so! "Buzz off," Kitsune growled, the stress and fatigue making her short tempered. Its leer attack caused her to shy away for a moment, then glare back. Liz had no idea what the bird thing was saying, but the tone said everything. "I don't have time for some oversized chicken." She sighed loudly, pulling out her pokedex. "I told you to bow to me you worthless piece of meat!" The vullaby screeched as she began flapping her wings; she was quite annoyed now. She had just settled onto the ground expecting the fox to bow to her, only to told buzz off. Well, shde wasn't having any of that. "I say you would pay for not listening to me!" She said, before giving a mad cackle of a sort. Taking off into the ground, she began moving her wings rapidly as the winds gathered formed a miniture tornado, before she fired it off at the fox when she felt that it was powerful enough to beat the weakling. "Now pay fool!"
