There was lots of tension that could be felt in the air, even though the atmosphere for the Ace Trainers was a lot more calmer, almost lackadaisical. Pippy sat on top of Kikou's head, watching the world around her for any Team Death members. Kikou's Carvanha was also out of his Pokeball, following Kikou, though she could tell he would rather not. Chomper would swipe his face left and right, searching for something, or someone, to fight. Kikou believed in the ideals of the Ace Academy, everyone deserved a chance to get a Pokemon, yet she couldn't help but consider what Team Death had stated. Pokemon were being abused, and their trainers would leave them alone to be uncared for. The people from Ace Academy were a lot more nicer than the Team Death members, Kikou had to admit that she was nervous to even go speak to the leaders of Team Death, so she had gone to the more friendly Ace Academy. That wasn't her only reason for joining Ace Academy, since she agreed with their views. Kikou just couldn't help but consider the other factor as well. Team Death's point of view seemed also viable. It was such a hard toss-up on views. Lost in her thoughts, the girl became unaware of her surroundings, liable to be caught off guard. [atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,10,true][atrb=style, width:400px; background-color:#f5f5f5; border:1px solid #efefef, bTable][style=border:1px solid #e9e9e9; background-color:#f0f0f0; font-size:10px; font-family:arial; letter-spacing:1px; color:#858585; text-align:justify; padding:20px; margin-bottom:8px]What a hassle, Cress wasn't sure what the hell he had stumbled over this time. All this commotion about some crooks called Team Death trying to steal pokémon from this Prof. Winter's laboratory, he didn't recognize any of the names being repeated around him at all. However he had heard rumors about this Prof. Winter, apparently he was the local pokémon professor of the Cheyenne region, much like Prof. Elm in Johto, whom he had only heard about and seen on the cover of magazines or in articles. From his point of view, this organization named Team Death sounded more and more like the villains here. However his opinion suddenly met a crossroad upon seeing members walking around the area shouting adverts and quoted their organizations moral. No pokémon should fall victim to irresponsible trainers they said, and that their mission was to "save" these pokémon that were under ownership of irresponsible trainers. It was a radical movement, they seemed like an organization who enforced the law resolutely with their own beliefs and let the common code be damned. Cress was somewhat displeased with that idea.
Yet, something about it was appealing. As an aspiring breeder, he wouldn't want to see pokémon be cast away by young trainers who gave up. That's how he ended up with his Teddiursa after all, since her previous trainer abandoned her and threw her away. She looked so broken and devastated the day he found her at the Pokémon Pound, so he could kind of relate to why Team Death was doing what they were doing. But still... His thoughts were soon faced with the other half of this full fledged war, Ace Academy. Under the name of righteousness they seemed to oppose Team Death like they were mortal enemies. Ace Academy had a completely different philosophy, that trainers should be given a second chance, that they had the right to be given a starter pokémon by this Prof. Winter, which Team Death so persistently tried to prevent. These Ace Academy people seemed like the good guys, but he wasn't going to fool himself here. This wasn't about good or evil, it was about a moral sense of justice, what we ourselves believed to be right and wrong. And to be honest, Cress' breeder half didn't feel to kosher about seeing irresponsible trainer cast aside their pokémon. No, he wouldn't want any more victims like his Teddiursa. His love for pokémon wouldn't allow that. If someone were to raise pokémon, they should do so with love and care, not give up and run away.
Forced to take a side, Cress followed his breeder half. He couldn't help it, his Teddiursa had been abandoned before he found her and took her under his wing, no more would he want to see pokémon so sad and lonely like her.
Siding with Team Death, believing in ways for now, Cress made his way into the premises of the laboratory outer grounds. In his arms he held the Teddiursa that was so verily dear to him. No one would take her from him, he would protect her until all this chaos was over. As he ran through the area to side with his chosen organization and assist in ways he felt were plausible, he couldn't help but wear a distasteful expression. As he came around a bend, his feet that carried him slowly stopped moving. He was standing still, his eyes catching the sight of a young blonde haired girl he had seen before. What was she doing here?! Was his initial thoughts, such a young girl to be caught up in this meaningless battle. His Teddiursa started crying at the sight of Carvanha, the fish was so scary. Hopping out of Cress' arms, she hid herself behind his leg. >Ursaaa...< The poor bear whimpered.
"K-Kikou...?" His voice stuttered slightly. The Hoppip on her head, there was no mistaking it. "...Hoppip?" His lips murmured, he was sure now. This was Kikou. All of a sudden a pokéball in his bag began to wiggle restlessly, it was Cashew's pokéball. With a sharp red light shooting out of his bag at that moment, his Hoppip materialized. >I heard Hoppip! Pewpew!< The pink little pokémon came fluttering around in the air, splashing up and down as she looked around. She was in need of friends, she didn't really have many of them to begin with except Cress. With her oblivious expression and a small but fumbling smile, she fluttered. As the wind caught her however, her soft little body swooshed over toward Kikou. >Oh no no no! Eep!<

Go look for some supporter of the other side and beat them up? That wasn't right, nor was it part of Kikou's character to go do that kind of thing. She'd rather not fight at all in the first place. Maybe if she did run into someone she could stall it out? Pippy stared around the area, then caught sight of a tall figure approaching. Ruffling the hair on Kikou's head, she tried to get her trainer's attention. <Look, look!> Kikou's train of thought broke when she felt the frantic scrabbling from her Hoppip, followed by some squeaks of its name. "What's up Pippy?" Looking to the direction Pippy pointed to, she saw a familiar face. Was that Cress?! She blinked in shock, what was he doing here? Was he a friend or foe? The feelings were mutual, since the other man seemed to wear a shocked expression as well. The Teddiursa that Cress had in his arms was now hiding behind the man's legs, crying. Chomper noticed the bear's crying, and he felt a bit unnerved. What had he done? But getting over the initial discomfort, he glared back. Grr, he wanted to fight. The tense atmosphere around the lab was making him feel uncomfortable. Kikou then saw a second Pokémon appear in a flash of red lights. It was a Hoppip, and it was heading straight for her. Uh oh! Kikou began to run to the Hoppip, seeing if she could catch the poor pink creature. Pippy also took to the air, linking hands with the other Hoppip, <Whee! This is fun!> The girl just stopped then, it seemed that her Hoppip had things under control. Hopefully. Turning her attention back to Cress, Kikou asked, "What're you doing here? I never expected to see you here. Are you on the side of Ace Academy? Or...." Kikou didn't even want to consider the idea that she would have to fight someone she knew. That wasn't very true for Cress on the other hand, whom was feeling a sudden anxiety for what was about to happen. Kikou, this young pokémon trainer he had met not so long ago, she couldn't have been caught up in all of this nonsense. But she had been, and hearing her small lips speak of Ace Academy, he knew his anxiety was spot on. "I am..." Cress braved, his expression turning grim, "I'm siding with Team Death." He couldn't believe the words that came out of his own lips, it sounded so sinister and wrong. Just because it had 'death' in it, he felt like the villain already. He didn't like it, but the situation asked that he take a side and stick with it. Much to his dismay, to him this felt more and more wrong.
Straightening his posture, his expression remained grim yet slightly disturbed. "You probably won't understand where I come from, but from my point of view Team Death are the morally correct in this dispute." The trainer clenched his fist, still feeling reluctance. "As an aspiring breeder too, I can't..." He took a deep breath, "I can't let irresponsible people just neglect their pokémon." He finished his statement. The more his words came out, the more apparent it became to him that they would have to battle. Cress had made a choice, and although reluctant to go through with it, he felt obligated to do so. Trainers who threw away responsibility over their pokémon, yes, Cress was against that. Strongly too. But to deny young trainers a starting pokémon from the local professor? This was absurd. His mind was a complete mess now, and to be honest he didn't want to think about it anymore. He grit his teeth, as he said something, entirely against his will, that he would never have said. "Kikou, you're in my way," His words started out warmly, as was his usual tone of voice, but steadily changed to a colder tone. "Our battle starts here." He concluded, resolute.
Cashew didn't like the idea of fighting, much because she couldn't even do so at the moment. However, the Hoppip kind of had their own way of fighting. Tail wagging. "Cashew, come back here, Tail Whip." He instructed, as the Hoppip came back a few paces. She was puzzled, not sure why she had to stop playing with her new friend. With a sad face, the little Hoppip turned her back to the other Hoppip and wagged her tail.
As Cress shifted his attention to Teddiursa, still hiding behind his leg, he tried to sound strict, "Eve, come out here!" Feeling the sudden tension and scare from his tone of voice, Teddiursa impulsively denied his commands and scratched his leg. Her sharp claws from those soft little paws of hers cut through his jeans, leaving a wound on the side of his upper ankle. "Eve, listen to me!" Cress grunted, his bear cub still resisting. This wasn't the Cress she knew and loved, and she would resist until her trainer came back to reality. Because right now, her trainer was descending down a dark path.

But the spell broke when Cress began to speak. So she was right, yet the fact didn’t make her feel and self-pride, it just filled her with dread. Dread that she would possibly have to fight this person, and that she might lose. What would happen then? Team Death didn’t seem like the kind of group that would have mercy on those they had beaten. What if they took away her Pokemon? Kikou couldn’t bear it if that happened. As Cress stated his reason as to why he sided with Team Death, Kikou had to think of her own reasons for joining Ace Academy. She believed in the reasoning that all trainers should get a chance to get a starter Pokemon, which was the way that any good trainer would start out. No Pokemon trainer could ever become good without getting one Pokemon to start off with and make mistakes together. That’s how someone became good in Kikou’s mind, by redoing something over and over until it was done right. She didn’t believe that any trainer would start out perfectly; that was highly unlikely. "You probably won't understand where I come from, but from my point of view Team Death are the morally correct in this dispute."Kikou remembered the goal of Team Death, but she had to admit that she agreed with some of them. She had seen Pokemon being ignored before, some were absolutely miserable. It broke her heart to see things like that. It was just too bad that there couldn’t be a compromise in this fight. Why were some people so stubborn? Although, even trainers skilled in battle can be horrible people, why would Team Death want to give Pokemon to those types of people? She had observed extremely happy Pokemon with trainers who don’t battle at all. It just didn’t add up to the young girl. She didn’t want to voice her opinions just yet, since she didn’t know the full details of Team Death and Ace Academy. However, she did say, ”I can see that some ideals of Team Death are agreeable, but not all.” Cress could understand what she meant about that right? She hoped he could. But the change in attitude of his didn’t assure her of that. He had become colder, that light tone he had when she first met him had heaviness to it. It looked as though the tension at the lab had gotten to Cress as well. When she heard Cress say to begin the battle, she almost wanted to scream out “no!”, but instead said, ”What would be the point in this fight? Explain this to me.”When the other Hoppip was called back to its trainer, Pippy just couldn’t help but feel sad. They were having some fun, riding the winds and twirling about. When the other Hoppip wagged its tail, Pippy grinned and, not noticing the sudden change in attitude from both trainers below, splashed in the air and on top of the other Hoppip. <Where’re you going? Let’s plaay!> As she linked onto the Hoppip, she tumbled over in the wind, <Whoa, wait, whaa?!> Chomper, on the other hand, just continued to watch the opposing trainer. As he watched the Teddiursa scratch at his trainer, he just turned away and readied himself to fight, focusing himself to bring energy to himself. This Pokemon didn’t need him to be scared. Kikou however, was surprised at the Teddiursa’s reaction. Cress seemed to be extremely tough on his Pokemon at the moment in her eyes, unlike the last time she had seen him. Hoppip only wanted to play with her new friend whom she had met only recently. She didn't have any friends, so it made her extremely happy when they met. She couldn't ask for anything else really, and yet she was ordered to attack? She was scared from that, it felt like a rock was sinking into her little stomach. She didn't want to hurt her new friend! Teddiursa was resisting for a similar reason, her instincts could feel that Cress wasn't in his right mind. She was feeling denial, there was no way her kind and loving trainer could change just like that. All of her abandonment related scars of the past were slowly resurfacing, would this trainer turn against her too, just because she didn't listen? The poor bear couldn't take it, all she wanted was a loving trainer, someone that didn't ask anything from her but to stay the way she was. >Tedd-iii-urrrsaaaa!< The cub cried frustrated, as she bolted across the field toward Kikou.
"Eve, hey wait!" Cress tried to hold her back, to no avail. With running tears the Teddiursa made a beeline for Kikou's leg, latching her paws on her. Fro what she could see, this girl still expressed earnest and genuine kindness. Since Teddiursa was afraid, that was enough. She just couldn't bear the thought of being alone. Her tears were trickling down her soft fur, as she refused to let go of Kikou's leg. Cress clenched his fist, retaining his grim and steadily darker expression. "Don't you see?," His voice retorted, "What Team Death are doing may be radical, but they're right. No person should be allowed to own a pokémon if they don't know how to care for it, would you want to be neglected like that?" The aspiring breeder side of himself was on fire now, this issue ran deep with him and he wasn't just going to let it go like it didn't mean anything. With assertive eyes, he kept his sights on the girl. However he couldn't help but feel uneasy, was it really necessary to go to such lengths against the young girl? This wasn't right, it just wasn't right.
Despite feelings of unrest, Cress was worried. He didn't have pokémon willing to fight in this condition. "Eve, come back here!" He beckoned at his Teddiursa, the bear replying with a loud >Ursaa!< As she cringed, huddling up against Kikou's leg, almost asking for her to save her. "Evening, what are you...?!--" His voice turned more frustrated, he had never seen Teddiursa act so defiantly against him. His head was in chaos, and his emotions in total turmoil, yet he consciously didn't want to admit it. He was right, and she was wrong. He was right, and she was wrong. He was... right. He had to be right. He had to.
Landing before his very feet was Cashew, who looked up at her trainer in bewilderment. With those sweet innocent round eyes of hers, she was genuinely worried about her friend. Her trainer. >Are you okay?< The Hoppip so innocently uttered, holding her little pink arm in front of her mouth. Something snapped inside Cress' head as he looked at the Hoppip, something was dwelling up inside him now. What was this? It almost felt like...fear.

There was hardness on his face that Kikou could observe, with a bit of some internal conflict. What was it that tumbled about in the older man’s mind? Reaching down, she plucked the Teddiursa up into her arms, holding it like how she had observed Ursaring do to their young back in Johto. Looking at the little bear’s tear streaked eyes, she said softly to it, hoping to make the little bear feel better, ”Shh…it’s alright.” Petting the little bear soothingly, the Teddiursa stopped crying. Crouching down, she gently set the bear onto the ground. From there, she sat down, not in the mood to fight the man, and wanted to try and reason with him. In answer to Cress’ retort, Kikou said, ”I know there are trainers who don’t know what they do with Pokemon. I know that there are people who abandon them. I know all of that, I’ve seen it before. But the world isn’t perfect, now is it? People aren’t perfect, and I’m sure you know that.” Kikou usually wasn’t used to speaking out loud like that, but seeing someone she knew that was about to be her enemy made her feel a bit braver than she usually was. Chomper watched in surprise as the Teddiursa came rushing over to his trainer. How strange, were the Pokemon switching sides in this soon to be battle? How strange that the Pokemon had just come over, especially with him around. Hadn’t he scared that Teddiursa earlier? With a sharp sniff to the side, he just decided to ignore the Pokemon, and focused on the man in front of him. Glaring the man’s way, he seemed to say with unheard words, ”Try and fight me.” Pippy, seeing her friend fly off to Cress, followed after the Hoppip, calling out <Where’re you going?> She had no idea of the fight that may happen. As Pippy flew in the air, closer and closer she got to the man, until his face was almost in contact with hers. Giving a little squeak of surprise, she landed on the ground next to the Hoppip. Upside down, she asked her friend, <Why’re you upside down?> Chomper, watching all of this, looked as though he was wondering what was wrong with the Hoppip, giving an inaudible sigh to himself. Kikou however, was worried about her Hoppip being so close to Cress at a time like this, and called out, ”Pippy, come here. C’mon.” Wiggling about, Pippy popped back onto her feet and flew off back to her trainer, giving a sad look to the Hoppip she left behind. People aren’t perfect, and I’m sure you know that.” The girl's lips uttered, undaunted by the scene Cress was making. He had to hand it to her, this girl was brave.
The Hoppip staring up at him made his grim expression tense up in fear, as if he had forgotten something very important. This little creature, the Hoppip, reminded him of something so simple that he was about to throw away. Such an innocent face looking so curiously up at him from the ground, Cress couldn't bear a displeased face upon seeing that. It would mean betraying his pokémon's trust if he made the wrong move here, and such a simple action would make him cease to be a pokémon trainer. And ultimately cause him to make the very mistake Team Death used as a reason to take away pokémon from 'unworthy' trainers. Was he about to become one of those unworthy trainers himself, even if his intentions weren't like that at all? Despite his pokémon so clearly putting up a fight, would he ignore this omen so openly and make the biggest mistake of his life? Even a young girl could see through him at this point, making Cress feel severely misplaced. Pokémon were attuned to nature, and if they felt something was out of place, it usually was. Having Teddiursa put up such a resistance must have made things clear to him, but at this point his mind was still clouded. As Pippy came closer, Cress found himself rather unable to move. It was like stepping into a beautiful flower garden, and he couldn't bring himself to take a step at all, afraid he would hurt the fragile flowers with as much as a movement. These Hoppip were the same right now, only hoping for better days as they cared for nothing but each other.
"I..." He began, "I know." His voice was still dark, yet vacant in zeal. Almost to the level of existential innuendo, his disturbed grimaced face tried to face up from the Hoppip's gaze. But he couldn't, not right away. He had to shake his head first, as he looked over at Kikou with his dark brown hues, a shred of reluctance in his gaze. Slowly, but surely, he braved a few paces in her direction. "But what about the pokémon that suffer at the cost of an imperfect world? At the cost of an inexperienced trainer? Would you keep giving chances to people that so leniently put their own partner through pointless misery?" He stopped, noticing the glare the Carvanha sent him. A pause ensued, before he dared continue. "Pokémon or trainers, do you earnestly believe you're qualified to make that choice?" His voice shot at her in a cocky sense. He was closer now, more intent on hearing her true reasons behind this pointless squabble. He was on the verge of breaking down himself, his tense and intimidating demeanor was putting pressure on the atmosphere around them. Although he didn't know, deep down inside he wanted answers. He was so focused on preventing more victims like Teddiursa that he almost willingly threw away everything, almost even his own pokémon. If Team Death would give him the opportunity to make a difference, even if it was radical, was he really going to take it?
Cashew was confused, having her trainer ignore her and walk past her made her even more puzzled. Attempting to get her trainer's attention yet again, she wobbled over to her trainer as she poked ever so cautiously at his shoe. >Um, excuuuse me...< She uttered in her adorable little Hoppip voice, feeling a little nervous as her eyes shifted down to the ground a few times.

His expression was grim and dark, yet maybe her talking was making him see that Team Death wasn’t the right choice? The Teddiursa still hadn’t made any move to go to her original trainer, and sat on the ground right where Kikou had placed her. Uh oh, was something more wrong with Cress than she thought? The girl had guessed that if the Teddiursa was calmed, it would go back to Cress, but that didn’t seem the case yet. It just stubbornly sat there, still slightly tearful, but at least it wasn’t crying anymore. Petting the little bear’s fur gently, Kikou thought of what to say in response to Cress’ retort. Kikou didn’t think that Cress was a bad person; he cared about Pokemon maybe even more than Kikou did. He had joined a team with a bad name, and title just so he could save those Pokemon unfortunate enough to be left alone in the world with horrible trainers. Kikou had to think to herself, would it be better if Pokemon and humans be separated? With a sigh to herself, she wished that things could be compromised. Why was it so hard to make two sides see that there could be a common ground? Pippy landed on Kikou’s head again, looking sadly back at her new friend. Why was it that there seemed to be something wrong with playing with another Hoppip? After her long mental conference, Kikou began to piece together her thoughts to say, ”You’re right...I’m not qualified to make a decision like this. Humans are…..imperfect. That’s why Pokemon are abused. I don’t like it myself, I hate it…it’s one of the few things I hate.” She stopped, thinking more, and felt embarrassed it was choppy. But she had to piece her thoughts together one by one like that, continuing on, she said, ”If humans are imperfect, who gives Team Death the right to take away Pokemon from trainers? I’m certain ….it’s not the Pokemon that are happy with their trainers. Some of those trainers aren’t good at what they do. What happens when they are deemed unworthy by Team Death?” She felt a bit stronger than usual, and she wondered why? Was it because well-being of Pokemon were on the line? Chomper began to fidget, impatient for a fight. The tense atmosphere was killing him, and he had to let his energy loose. He wouldn’t attack his trainer, even though he didn’t like her, or the Pokemon with her, so he aimed at the closest thing, the Hoppip at Cress’ shoes. Why did it have to care about a person like Cress? From what the dark-type could see, it seemed Cress was no good trainer. Summoning a ball of water, the piranha got ready to fire….until Kikou caught sight of what he was about to do. With a yelp of, ”Wait! What’re you doing!” She made a grab for the fish, but he had already used the attack, and a blast of water was fired, weaker than normal because of his surprise. By being jerked up, however, the attack was sent off course and into the direction of Cress. ”Cress watch out!” Pippy Lvl 4 (F) Abilities: Chlorophyll - Leaf Guard Moves: Splash, Synthesis (-1 DEF) Action: Chomper Lvl 10 (M) Abilities: Rough Skin Moves: Leer, Bite, Focus Energy, Dark Pulse, Brine, Snore (-2 SP DEF, -1 DEF) Action: used Water Pulse at Cress ☼Words;; xxx ☼Tags;; cress ☼Notes;; DUCK CRESS DUCK! xD [/style] |

Although conflicted, he wanted to make a point. Maybe not for the reasons he claimed to be, but for himself. He wanted his actions to have meaning, but they didn't. All they brought now were discomfort and confusion. His pokémon expressed this most of all. He was standing closer to Kikou now, who still seemed more or less unfazed by his ominous presence. And she started talking as well, Cress listening intently. But this was all rambling to him, there weren't definitive answers coming from her. At least not the answer he was looking to get from her, not in the slightest. "Their goal is to take pokémon from unworthy trainers, and treat them better as they so well deserve." He uttered strongly in response to the girl's final inquiry, coldly.
Just as he was about to take another step toward Kikou, ignoring the Hoppip by his feet, he found himself struck by a wet force of pulsating water. It struck him completely off-guard, he barely only managed to cover himself with an arm. The attack itself was merely water, however the force of the attack was stronger and more dangerous. He felt his whole body being pushed back from the impact, as he fell back a few paces and landed hard on the ground. The boy grunted upon hitting the ground, and a sharp pain was arching through his back. Hoppip and Teddiursa were completely bewildered, and both of them found themselves running to Cress' side as he fell. He was still conscious, yet expressed the pain he felt very well with a complimenting grimace on his face. With a little bit of added force on his part, he leaned up using his arms, sitting on his bottom still on the ground. He was soaked from the water attack, and his hair was dripping wet down his neck. His two pokémon obviously tried to care for their trainer, as Cress merely responded, "I'm fine, don't care about me." Causing the two pokémon to flinch as they heard the intentional distant statement. Hoppip wasn't sure what to do, she could only fumble and fidget with her arms as she looked at the ground. However Teddiursa knew so well what to do, she had seen enough.
>Stupid trainer, stupid trainer, stupid, stupid, stupid, stupid, stupid trainer!< She roared in her Teddiursa cry, as she ferociously attacked Cress with her Fury Swipes. Five times. Cress was already hurting, but that didn't seem to matter. Even he was having second thoughts at this moment, his Teddiursa was in a rage for crying out loud. "Eve, stop it! Hey, knock it off!" Cress resisted, the bear cub finally stopping. With a slight pause, their eyes met, and the bear couldn't keep it in. Her tears starting running once more, as the bear started bawling. She got into Cress' lap, and tugged at his wet shirt as so refused to let go. She was trying to tell her trainer that this was where she belonged now, and no one in the whole wide world was going to take him away from her. Cress was speechless at this point, he could only gaze at the bear in his lap with a troubled look on his face. The Hoppip too, upon observing this, wobbled near Cress and tugged at his shirt. As she smiled, the little Hoppip let out a cheerful cry. >Stupid!< Although she was a little out of context from mimicking Teddiursa, her intentions were just as pure and innocent. As she smiled at her trainer just so. Cress knew from that very moment that he was doing something horrible, his heart reflected this throughout his entire body. His hands gently stroked at his two pokémon, as he felt his face tense up. Tears. There were tears carefully trickling down his cheeks. Although the boy had so strongly wanted to prove something to himself and others, he was now in the midst of realizing that he couldn't do it like this. "You guys...how am I supposed to... You... You know I can't--" His words were falling apart, as he grit his teeth together. His body was convulsing as his tears flowed endlessly, swayed by the actions of his beloved pokémon.
Standing up, Cress' bangs were covering his face. With his Teddiursa in his arms, and Hoppip on the ground next to him. He was still dripping wet. His feet carried him forward toward Kikou. She couldn't see his face now, and he wasn't saying anything. He only sniffled once as he began walking in her direction, Teddiursa gazing up at her trainer. He was different somehow now, however in what way? There was suspense in the atmosphere, while Cress approached Kikou directly.

Kikou flinched when she saw the man fall down a ways off, the force of the attack must have been stronger than Kikou guessed. She must have underestimated the power of her Carvanha. However, she made no move to go to Cress, seeing that the Teddiursa that was with her had run off, along with the Hoppip, though she had to admit it surprised her that the Teddiursa was so angry that it began to swipe at its trainer. Ouch. Kikou didn't want to come up to Cress anyways, since he was acting so weird; it was creepy. Also, he seemed to ignore her statement, but she couldn't blame him for that. Her so-called "speech" had been incredibly weak, and didn't seem to have any real support to it. Kikou didn't really know how to voice her opinion anyways, much less make a long answer to something so confusing to deal with. Team Death, or Ace Academy. She didn't even know herself. She almost even wanted to give up and join with the other team, since she had to agree with the ideals of Team Death. Pokemon didn't deserve to be with unworthy trainers, but still, how could a trainer be deemed unworthy until they had a chance? Cress had a point, yet she couldn't agree with Pokemon being taken from trainers. As the three watched Cress interact with his Pokemon, Kikou began to scold her Carvanha, "Look at what you did. You could have hurt him more than just throwing him to the ground." Chomper, however, just turned away with an indignant sniff, as if he didn't have time to deal with the girl. Kikou gave a frustrated sigh, would that stubborn fish ever actually listen to her? Pippy, sitting on Kikou's head, stared at Cress as he approached and noticing he was crying, she said, <Oh oh! Why're you crying?> Kikou was alerted to the noise her Hoppip made, and looking up, saw Cress walking over to her. Why hadn't she noticed he was walking towards her earlier?! Backing up slightly, she tried to act threatening, but her threat came out shakily, "D-don't come closer, or I-I'll ask Chomper to use another Water Pulse." Two opposing sides, only one choice. Either A or B. That was how this was supposed to go down, and it was how this system worked. Each side claimed to be 'good' as they accused the other of being 'bad', but in all honesty there was no real answer. It was a question of morals, and a question you yourself had to find the answers to. There is no right or wrong, there's only the choice you make. The choice you take. You can take pokémon from unworthy trainers, and probably prevent situations in which pokémon are abandoned and thrown away. Although radical, you can really make a difference to those pokémon who have been deeply hurt. Or you can openly give starting trainers new pokémon, let the trainer and its pokémon form a bond as they learn and travel together, make mistakes together, do everything together. For those trainers who pull through, this is a priceless opportunity with limitless potential. However to those who meet failure and simply give up, it ends in disaster. That's why you're faced with a choice. However, even considering this choice itself is considered an insult. You shouldn't be forced to sacrifice one for the other, that's just plain wrong. It's not right! If the two choices initially presented force you to such a standstill, then that means this 'system' is broken. It means something was missed somewhere along the way, something important that we forgot.
We can do better than this, we can break free from this vicious cycle. And if no one else was going to stop and think, if even just for a minute. Then maybe Cress himself would have to do just that. If this system that so mercilessly craved a sacrifice be made, then that system need to be cast away. "I will... make my own choice." Cress lips uttered, faintly and almost unnoticeable.
With the bear cub so nervously in his arm, the trainer reached out with his other arm. He extended it toward Kikou, his intentions still unclear. His bangs still covering his face, as droplets of water still trickled down from the edges of his brown hair. His palm faced against her, the girl that so obviously couldn't match him in height. Warily she shot a threat at him, this didn't cause him to hesitate. She was probably scared, and with good reason to be. Cress' performance had been rather disturbing, yet this didn't seem to be the end of it. As his hand reached out toward her, the suspense dragging on, he would finally touch her. Gently, the palm of his hand met Kikou's head. He patted her. Probably much to her surprise, he was patting her head now. He was closer to her, and from underneath his bangs was his visible face. A redeemed and trembling smile, looking down at the blonde haired maiden. His eyes were shut as he wore a sheepish smirk, albeit a careful one. Tears were still trickling down his face, running across his flustered flushed up cheeks. His shoulders were still slightly convulsing at regular intervals, as the mature Cress kept nothing hidden from the young girl standing before him. He was convinced. And he was grateful, for he had almost walked down a path where his pokémon could not follow. He had been so close that the feelings inside him were overwhelming him. Although an older boy that he was, he proved to be surprisingly emotional right now. So close he was to losing himself, that he was terrified. This was why he wore such a careful smile on his face, it was for Kikou after all. The young girl that had so confidently braved stand against him. And in all honesty, she didn't look so young anymore.
Patting her head, Cress' lips again uttered words in a slightly trembling manner. This time she was meant to hear it. "You know, you remind me of my little sister." His teary eyes opened carefully, the boy cocking his head just as gently. His eyes were feeling sore already, and underneath all the fuzz he looked pretty weary. However, those words that his lips just carried, they came from within. He meant it. He couldn't say anymore, this battle was long over. There was no reason left to meaninglessly throw dispute. He was done. And behind him a Hoppip named Cashew fluttered symbolically around in circles, feeling the love in the air. >Stuuuuuupiiiid!< She grinned obliviously with her wide open mouth, wobbling her grass antennae back and forth.
Through all this, Cress had made a new resolve. Neither Team Death or Ace Academy would have him today. He was intent on making a new path, to make his own way. He would pave his own future if he so had to. If there was no choice C, then Cress would create one. The first initial of his name wasn't there for nothing after, it had a meaning now. His resolve was to create the third option, the path that didn't exist. The road that no one would believe could come to be, not until Cress himself proved them wrong. That was his resolve. For as long as his name was Crescendo Antares Voltaire, he swore this to himself. It is also said that pokémon can read the flow of nature because they're attuned to it, maybe that's why the Teddiursa in his arm was smiling so contently. Yes, there was no mistaking it.
He was himself again, he was 'home'. Together with his little heroine, angel and saviour.

As Cress approached her, his hair obscured the vision to his face, so Kikou could not see any emotions written on his face. Pippy didn’t seem concerned with anything, and just continued to bob in the air, watching the other Hoppip float around, and even Pippy chimed in once in a while with <Stupid!> Pippy had no idea as to what was going on, but she thought she’d play along with her friend. Chomper, however, continued to stare at the approaching human, thinking of the fun he’d have if Kikou really did allow him to blast Cress with another Water Pulse. His pride was stinging from the scolding that Kikou had given him, and he that didn’t help his mood.
Kikou stared at the hand that was extended, was he about to hit her? That made her flinch slightly, a sign of the nervousness she was feeling. As she stared at the hand, she thought of the conflict of Team Death and Ace Academy. It was strange, since the conflict of the two sides and the raised hand didn’t seem to have any connection at all. Kikou had just thought of it all as her mind nervously skittered. The two sides, they were just too extreme to her liking, and it seemed that neither side would back down to consider different options. Would there ever be people to say it was enough? Or to start a different side; a side that supported both ideals of Team Death and Ace Academy? Maybe it would have to start with people who cared enough about Pokemon to do something like that, people who had enough courage to not fear either Team Death or Ace Academy and stand for what they believe in. Kikou wanted to believe that people like her, who thought both sides were right, were out there.
The girl closed one eye and lightly grimaced in fear of a pang of pain as Cress put his head on her head, but it was light, even caring. Looking up, Cress just seemed to be happier, and cried. Strange that an older man like him would show a sign of weakness like that. As she heard him mention a sister, she was surprised. A sister? Her blue eyes showed confusion, so she was like a sister to Cress, what had brought that on? However, Kikou was happy that Cress had snapped out of that strange display of emotions earlier, the tension must have been tougher than she thought to have made the older boy break like that. Thinking about what Cress had stated, Kikou thought that, in a sense, she had an older brother. She didn’t have any siblings in her family, so sometimes there would be moments of lonliness. She grinned to Cress, and simply stated, ”I’m glad you’re back.” The thoughts she had before about another group, who gave a different option for people who cared about Pokemon came back to her. Maybe, just maybe, Cress would be a person who could agree with her. Even if that wasn't the case, Kikou would try to find others who could agree with her, and that hope she wanted to keep alive, a flame that would never go out.
As Chomper and Pippy watched the scene, they could feel the tension drain out of the air, yet even though Chomper didn't like how there would be no fighting, he had to admit that he felt happier then as well. But he wouldn't be admitting that anytime soon. Pippy though, looked at the pat on the head that Kikou received and felt a bit unhappy, Kikou'd head was her special spot. With a bounce into the air, she landed on top of Kikou head, then snuggled down, as if to show Cress, She's mine. Kikou giggled a bit to that, her Pokemon were just so silly sometimes. He had learned something great, and he felt so light inside. Teddiursa was feeling better as well, sitting comfortably in her master's arms. She kind of took some of the pride of convincing Cress by herself, after all she was one who had scratched ruthlessly at him to get him back. And she was kind of overprotective of her trainer too, then again she would eventually acknowledge the fact that Kikou played the biggest part in all of this. She was the trigger, she was what brought Cress back to his senses. And his trickling tears were proof of that. No way could he fake those, his gentle smile was as genuine and true as true could be. Not only that, but he felt a strong bond with Kikou now, since she actually resembled his younger sister. He hadn't thought of it before, but after this whole episode he had to admit it. Although not so similar in appearance, their personalities were alike. Equally brave and foolhardy, a very cute trait for someone her age. And her height too, played a big part in the resemblance. There just was no fooling her, just like his little sister. She was sharp, and very kind. With no doubt would she accomplish great things in her career as a trainer. And Cress would do anything to help her, after all she was his little sister now, in a sense.
He had to retract his hand, since her Hoppip, Pippy, claimed that spot for herself with a determined look on her face. He got the hint, and a small chuckle carefully left his lips. He used the backside of his hand to wipe away some of the tears on his cheeks, and shifted his attention to Pippy thereafter. Gently, he would pat her head as well, stroking around her grassy antennae. Well he figured the Hoppip wanted to be patted as well, so why not. "It's good to be back." His lips would utter those words casually. It was around then his own Hoppip hopped on his head, causing Cress to startle a little bit. He felt the soft large body of hers landing, cuddling into his shaggy hair as well. He had to lower his head a bit, it looked like he was carrying plates on his head really. But the Hoppip just wobbled back and forth, her little tail and arms wiggling around as well, ruffling up Cress' hair. She was oblivious to everything around her, just mindlessly going along with what her new friend seemed to be doing. Mimicking, if you will. Both of them must have looked a little silly, standing there with Hoppip's on their heads. "Hey you, my head isn't a playground...!" He smirked, feeling the life returning to him the more he talked.
He was so happy right now, things just seemed to be fixing itself. Well, thanks to Kikou and her hard effort. Cress knew this. Holding Teddiursa firmly in his arm, he poked Kikou's forehead lightly with his index finger. Just in a playful manner, nothing harmful. "I'm indebted to you. You and your pokémon, for putting on the bravest act I have ever seen. I'm serious." He told her, his strong integrity reforming in his manner of speech. "If you ever need a big brother to help you, then heed these words very carefully; I will be there for you." His brown hues looked at her, resolute and filled with strength. "Because...you're like a younger sister to me now, Kikou."
Cashew wiggled again and flailed her arms up in the air to express her feelings too. >You're speeeciaaal!< She said playfully, smiling with the wide open creepy look that we all love so much. All that wiggling and joyful moving around that Cashew did made Cress strive to keep his balance for a moment, but he didn't mind.
The battle was over now, there would be no more selfish victims from his hand. He swore to himself he would break the system that didn't work, and that's just what he would do. Team Death be damned, his younger sister was more important. For she...made him feel alive.
