It wasn't often when Seamus came over to the regional areas, mostly having business in the city or in the routes for some strange and bizarre mission that made no sense. Today he wanted to escape, needing a break from it all in the most quiet place he could find. There was a small, abandoned church up on the hill near a graveyard. He chose to sit right outside of it, simply staring off into space as the little Pokemon he brought along curiously explored the tombstones.
It wasn't as if he knew anyone in particular buried around these parts, but there were some relatives that he had hidden around the place. Ones he hardly knew or never met. He wanted to look around for them at one point, but instead the walk up here had tired him out. It was a gloomy afternoon, sighing as the cold weather was starting to get to him. Thankfully he had a nice, warm jacket that was all black to help gather warmth from the sun.
Not having people around was nice, and he hardly expected anything living to come to join him today. If anything, he thought he'd have a meeting with the dead. <So tall and elegant, they look like castles.> The small Barboach commented as she creeped around the place with shifty eyes, slithering as she had fun playing by herself. It wasn't a Pokemon Seamus used on his team, but he decided to give his newly hatched Barboach a bit of a break when he decided to come down here.

Ghosts and the paranormal weren't a good friend of Ariana's. But these weren't really on her mind as she found herself walking slowly, with Dally scuttling right beside her. The cemetery was the only place where Ari figured she would be guaranteed some peace and quiet. Besides from her stuttering, shy, and nervous wreck of a Spinarak. She quickened her pace only the slightest as she saw it appear on the horizon, zippering up her sweater in an effort to maintain body heat. Ariana glanced at Dally for a second to make sure he was following, which he was. "Are you cold, Dally?" she inquired, slowing so she could scoop him up if necessary. But the Spinarak shook his head. "I'm f-f-fine." Ari spared another look at him, and shook her head as well. The bug normally stuttered, but this time, his legs were shaking as he walked. She unwrapped her scarf from around her neck and bent down so she was eye-level with Dally. "You're shaking, she retorted, wrapping the scarf so it wasn't dragging but he could still walk. Then they both resumed their stroll. To where dead people lived. When they finally arrived, Ariana planned on sitting down somewhere, just to consider things. But what she found changed that idea. Something was moving around the graves, she realized. Ari stopped abruptly, and so did Dally. "Hello? Who's there?" She tried to keep the shake out of her voice. ::spinarak:: Lvl 5 | Male Swarm | Insomnia Poison Sting, String Shot, Scary Face Nervous - Shy - Stutters Is scared and frozen.

It wasn't the most uncommon to see people visiting graves in a cemetery, but Seamus had assumed that it would be a relatively quiet trip when he came up here. He lifted up his head to look at the young girl that was passing through with a Spinarak before settling back down, not finding a need to go up to her. She was a teenager, he was a grown man. Most teenagers were Pokemon Trainers anyways, so it wasn't as if she was 'lost' and couldn't find her 'mommy'. It would've been weird for sure if he talked to her, and he wasn't exactly sure what kind of a mood he was in today. Perhaps at the most, he was lonely, but he preferred being able to think to himself in the quiet.
The Barboach jumped in her place as she quickly hid behind one of the tombstones, a bit too afraid to look out when the girl called her out on it. She shivered, wondering if she was in trouble. She didn't want to be! She was being a good girl, right? Seamus said she could play around without any wild Pokemon attacking her, which was why she was having so much fun on her own in the first place. Curiosity snatched up the Barboach as her tiny head peeked out from behind the tombstone that was in the shape of an angel, one of her favorite ones here as she looked at the human's face, taking in the expression.
Seamus blinked as the girl started talking to one of the statues, oblivious to the fact that his Barboach was currently hiding behind it. Was it normal for people to talk to graves? Maybe if they were younger and had the imagination, he supposed. Still, that was an awfully big grave she was visiting. Was it someone she actually knew? He watched her quietly from afar, not able to distinguish the words that she said, but seeing her actions as she kept a small Spinarak around.

Ariana blinked. She could swear she had seen something. Hadn't she? Dally seemed a bit shaken, too. But they were in a cemetery. What exactly had she expected? She looked at the giant grave in front of her. It was particularly large, and in the shape of an angel. The family surname carved onto it didn't ring a bell, but that was probably because she had just moved from Kanto. That would explain a lot of things about her, honestly. Ari shook her head. Stick to one thing at a time. As she thought just that thing, a little head stuck out from the grave. It belonged to a pokemon, she knew at least that. But which one? She didn't recognize it as one of the pokemon people kept as a pet in Celadon. And she hadn't seen it yet on her trip here in Cheyenne. Ari snuck a glance at Dally. The spider wasn't shaking anymore, but he looked pretty spooked. Since she knew it was a small pokemon, she knew she had nothing to worry about. "Hey there little thing," she cooed, "I won't hurt you."Ari then realized something she hadn't thought of. What if the pokemon had a trainer? Only ghost-types lived around here, didn't they? Because of this, she didn't say anything else. However, she did try looking around, trying to spot a person. She could swear she saw a figure near the abandoned church, but she didn't want to go anywhere near that thing. It was way too scary. ::spinarak:: Lvl 5 | Male Swarm | Insomnia Poison Sting, String Shot, Scary Face Nervous - Shy - Stutters Is nervously watching the Barboach.

The Barboach felt lured in at the girl's presence, as if she somehow felt attracted to being near another girl. There was something about girls that gave her a comforting feeling that Seamus didn't give her, like there was a different sense of companionship. More understanding for emotional needs. She seemed to feel that off of Ariana's gentle voice, starting to creep out from her hiding spot as she slithered a bit closer to the girl's hand. She raised her head up, antennae's twitching as if to detect something in the air, but her Anticipation didn't reveal anything. She felt safe.
She slithered closer now, looking up at the girl with frightened but curious eyes. The Spinarak was spooked so she didn't know what to make of him, but she liked the human girl. <H-Hello?> She managed to squeak out, not meaning any harm at all. It was her first encounter with a stranger though, never having to deal with them in the past. It was a new experience that concerned her, but she didn't feel the need to run back to Seamus.
Seamus was debating going over there though, standing up as he watched from afar, knowing that the girl was talking to his Barboach. She didn't look like a bad kid though, looking more for something to play with than to actually take it from him. He debated going down there, wondering if it would ruin the moment between the two. Would it be better to watch and see what would happen? Should he go right down there and tell her it belonged to him? He couldn't make up his mind, simply watching to see what would happen next. The moment his Barboach went out of sight though, he was definitely going down. He wasn't going to lose any of his precious collection any time soon.

Ariana wasn't really sure what she was expecting the Pokémon to do. After a second, her mind clicked. It was a Barboach! She listened as it let out a shy greeting, but it was Dally who responded, to Ari's surprise. "H-hi." Most people wouldn't make that much of a deal out of it, but Ariana knew Dally. He found some courage somewhere. He wasn't normally like this. Ariana knew she had to butt in anyway. The Barboach was slithering closer, and she gave it a small smile. "Really. It's ok. Do you have a trainer?" She questioned the pokemon, wondering if they actually were in any danger. She doubted it, honestly. But better to be sure. As Ari looked back to where she had seen the figure, she realized that it had grown in size. It had either stood up, or they were in some serious trouble. She was hoping for the first. Ariana tried to shrug the whole idea off, thinking her mind was playing tricks on her. Even if she did want to find out, any sudden movements or loud noises would most certainly scare Barboach. The Barboach perked up at the Spinarak's reaction, feeling more at ease when both human and Pokemon were willing to talk to her. She eased her head back down with her tail slowly curling around her as if she was a type of snake. <My trainer...?> The Barboach passed Seamus a glance as she said that out loud, concerned that he had gone off somewhere without her. She would feel so lost and alone without him, as he was the only care giver that she had ever known. She smiled and nodded at the female, knowing that she could call Seamus something like that. <Y-yes. He's at the church.> She remembered that when they arrived, he talked about some things out loud, mostly to himself.
He wasn't the kind of guy that believed that his Pokemon could understand everything he said, though she was aware of the concepts he was trying to communicate. <I heard this was supposed to be a lonely place.> She started to say, looking at the many tombstones that looked like large castles. She liked them, they were pretty and elegant. <What brings you here?> She decided to ask, even though she saw this place as a playground that no one visited, she wondered what would bring such friendly people and Pokemon here. <I'm just here for fun, I guess.> The fresh air was nice, and it was peaceful. She understood that there was something special about each tombstone, but she didn't quite get what was going on down there.
'Eh...should I go down?' Seamus thought as he kept glancing down at the trainer and the Pokemon, coughing from up on top of the hill. He decided he probably should, just to check up on them. If Ariana thought that his Barboach was just some wild Pokemon, she was going to have to be told otherwise. He started down towards the hill at a leisurely pace, knowing that they wouldn't get far even if she started walking away with the Barboach.

Dally wasn't really sure about the pokemon in front of him. Barboach seemed nice and all, but the spider wasn't sure. He didn't trust that many people or pokemon to begin with, though, so the pokemon shouldn't take offense. Even though some did. Ari noticed the Barboach sweep a glance behind her, and Ari's mind clicked. That figure was Barboach's trainer! Ari gave a small wave towards the figure, shyly lowering her hand after a second. She had no idea what the trainer was like. He could be some insecure 40-year-old. But she had already waved. Too late now. "I see him." She gave a sheepish smile, honestly not that eager to meet the trainer. "I thought it was lonely too," Ariana confessed, looking to Dally, who seemed ok for once. "I just wanted somewhere to think, y'know?"Dally, being a bug pokemon, was the one most comfortable here. He looked around, in the slightest bit of awe. If he was given time, he could probably find some fellow Spinaraks here, even. But he would have to be careful. He didn't know how strong they were. As he realized Ari was talking, his attention snapped back and he chimed in, "And as her pokemon, I have to come along." He didn't mean it in a bad way, it was just the truth. As a matter of coincedence, Ari looked up the hill again to see the trainer coming towards her. She and her pokemon exchanged glances, and Dally scuttled a bit closer to her. He didn't seem in that much of a rush. With a small smile though the largest she could muster, Ariana called out, "Hello?" She kept her gaze on him, so he knew she was calling to him. There wasn't anyone else around, but better safe than sorry. ::spinarak:: Lvl 5 | Male Swarm || Insomnia Poison Sting | String Shot | Scary Face Nervous - Shy - Stutters Is close to Ari, a bit scared.

Seamus saw the girl wave at him in a friendly, disarming manner as he started to approach with a nervous smile of his own. She was a younger thing, dressed very casually and didn't seem like the kind to be flashy and show off. Very tiny too, reminding him that he probably appeared to be very intimidating due to his age. He was awfully pale as well, as if he had not been in the sunlight for quite a while. To be expected; it was cold these days, and even the swarms were moving into their new habitats. He had seen several Rufflet fly by, but so far he had yet to encounter the angry bears that were prowling around. Hopefully they avoided this place, since he wasn't sure how to react if he ever encountered one.
The Barboach was a bit too young to understand fully why the girl wanted to think by herself, since thinking was kind of boring after a while. She preferred doing compared to thinking, and that was due to her young age. Still, sometimes she liked to play alone more than playing with others, so she could kind of understand. <Yes, that makes sense.> She said a bit properly, nodding her head at Ariana's statement. <Don't you get bored doing that after so long though?> The Barboach asked, tail flickering as she turned to see her trainer coming down to greet them. She chirped, pleased to see him and actually TALKING to strangers, as it made her more comfortable around them all of a sudden.
<R-Really? Does that mean you fight?> She asked, curious because she had never battled before. All she did was play with Seamus's other Pokemon at his work place, whenever he didn't take her out for additional study. The Barboach didn't even have a nickname, which showed just how unattatched Seamus was with some of his Pokemon. Still, he liked their company as much as the next guy. "Sorry if she bothered you." Seamus said as soon as he was within a safe arm's length from her, which was good enough. You couldn't dare get him to move much closer to a female, unless she was younger, since it was simply different with kids. "This is a strange place for a young lady like yourself." He was a formal speaker, but he was a little nervous too. "I hope you weren't dared to come here to stay the night." He looked at her with some concern, as if she was lost or something. He heard stories about how children dared others to spend the night at some spooky place, trying to scare each other out of their minds. Bad things usually ended up happening from that.

Ariana had her eyes on the trainer, unsure of what he was like. He looked a lot older than her, at least not a teenager like the many idiots that were swarming the routes and towns, training their pokemon and trying to fulfill their huge dreams. Like she was. He was pretty pale, and much bigger than her. The horrible realization struck the small teen that if she got him angry in some way, she wouldn't be in a good position. Not at all. Barboach, on the other hand, seemed small and fun. In a way. "Well, I didn't even get to sit down yet. I didn't plan on being here long, though."[/I] Dally, through this all, was clinging to Ari's leg, unsure of the new arrival. He was unsure about a lot of things, honestly. When the trainer was finally within arm's reach of Barboach, he scrabbled up Ariana's arm, making her squeak in surprise. He perched on her shoulder, where he knew it was safer from experience. Ari, still not one hundred percent used to a giant spider crawling up her shoulder by now, barely heard Barboach's question. "Y-yes. W-we do fight. But it's all in safety-" The trainer started to speak, cutting off her run-on sentence. "Oh, no. Not at all. She makes good company." Flashing a shy little smile, she looked to Dally, who was still a bit nervous. A dare? When she was thirteen, she had played truth or dare and was dared to go to a cemetery. The 'or else' was to kiss a boy there. His name was Andrew. This couldnt have been any better for Ari. Andrew was actually Ariana's crush, so she had no problem with it. The cemetery gave her the creeps anyway. It still did. The difference now, though, was that she had decided to come here on her own. "No, no. N-not at all. I chose to come on my own."[/color] He actually looked pretty worried. Ari realized how strange she probably seemed. Such a little thing, with her pokemon in the cemetery. ::spinarak:: Lvl 5 | Male Swarm | Insomnia Poison Sting || String Shot || Scary Face Nervous - Shy - Stutters Is perched on Ari's shoulder TAGS|| "Ariana" "Dally" "Seamus" "Barboach" "Cemetery" TUNES|| None. Seamus might've been older, manlier, and bigger than the young girl, but he didn't have the most impressive build ever. He had to be lucky to not be completely scrawny, but he had to be careful with his health and any strenuous work. Ariana spoke in a way that actually didn't bother him; not one of those high pitched squeaks or an obnoxious preppy voices that teenagers walked around using. He overheard some of the things that she was saying to his Barboach, which earned a confused tilt of his inquisitive expression as he watched her. It was odd, watching another person talk to a Pokemon that was his own, and not even he could understand. He thought it was all just foolishness perhaps, the imagination of younger minds making them believe that Pokemon could talk.
Interesting. The Spinarak made frightened but not hostile movements as it suddenly retreated to its trainer, making him cringe and inch backwards, but he otherwise wasn't concerned. He was smart enough not to taunt a frightened Pokemon, so he simply pretended to ignore it as he retained interest in the conversation, which seemed one-sided to him. The Barboach however frowned at Ariana's response, realizing just how sad of a place this was. No one liked to stay here long, how sad. <I guess we all have plans.> She mused, looking at her with a curious look when she mentioned being safe about fighting. It still sounded frightening though, especially when combined with mean wild Pokemon on the routes.
Seamus looked a little relieved when the Barboach wasn't creating many problems for her, or none at all really, and Ariana didn't appear to be here for any unsafe reasons. "Ah, then just visiting I take it." He smiled a little softer, feeling some empathy in case she actually knew one of the poor souls around here. "Or perhaps...vandalizing the statues." He wondered out loud with a near accusing stare, trying to get a reaction from her as the Barboach appeared startled from it.
