{desc=Whirlaway | Zer0gravity | Open} The cafe was warm and nice, and the coffee tasted good, and warmed Scottie to his core. It was still winter-time out in the wide-world and it was exceedingly cold today. The blonde boy had decided that it would be better to take a break from his training with the pokemon he had acquired.
Right now the trio of pokemon sat in the booth opposite of him, none of them taking up much space themselves. Riolu was a tiny little blue fighting type who was in the midst of trying to share a strawberry sundae with the Seedot that Scottie had recently captured on the road. The little acorn was making a hell of a mess though, and caused a growl from Riolu each time a fresh dollop of ice cream fell on his coat.
Solosis, Scottie's longest lived companion and trusted adviser was simply floating by the window, looking out at the snowy city. Occasionally he mentioned something about the journey they were on, but it was not heard by anyone but Scottie. It was rare for psychic type pokemon to share their psionic abilities with anyone, but Scott and Solosis made a habit of only conversing with eachother through exstrasensory methods.
Scott himself was taking up much of the booth, much to the dismay of the owner of the cafe, who was dealing with a crowded coffee shop, and was having difficulty finding seating. With his cast, Scott was having to prop his leg all the way across the broad seat, with his crutch leaning up against it.
On an almost positive note, the black eyes he'd received on Articuno's Vision where now no longer making him look like a raccoon, but had faded away to a gross greenish color that reminded him of zombies in the movies. He had pondered picking up some cover up this morning but had decided that he was too manly these days to even think of such a thing.
"Is that good guys?" He asked. Riolu grinned in agreement, but the Seedot he'd blindsided was still giving him the cold shoulder, which he couldn't blame it for. A blaze kick to the face would make anyone angry.

the teen asked, as if the young Pokemon was capable of reading. Instead, Nelly's insipid gaze floated across the coffee shop's patrons in search of anything to try. His eyes settled on a group taking up the corner booth comprised of three Pokemon and their trainer. He'd wriggle in Faye's arms as communication, punctuating the motion with quiet utterances of parts of his species name. Glancing over to see a pair of Pokemon enjoying a sundae, Faye nodded and patted Nelly's scaly skin. Coming out of the line with a cappuccino and and a banana nut muffin for herself as well as the strawberry sundae Nelly took an interest to, the girl meandered through rows of occupied seats until she came upon the booth Nelly was eyeing earlier. There wasn't much room elsewhere and she figured the trainer wouldn't mind... too much. Sitting down on the same side as his Pokemon, Faye set the food on table and situated herself with Nelly on her lap before staring at the rather sickly looking boy with a look of surprise, “oh, can I sit here?” [/ul]

Alex had been in the busy coffee/icy-treat parlor for some time before Faye's arrival, waiting for her arrival as well as utilizing the ebb and flow of the incoming/outgoing crowd to make himself a few extra dollars through sleight of hand. Faye's arrival was timely, as Alex had reached the point in his stationary endeavors that he felt like any further theft would result in his subsequent discovery. When the young woman sat herself across from Scottie's battered form, Alex began his casual saunter toward the two. With a quiet whistle, Alia emerged from the shadows beneath a booth and began following quietly behind him. Alia was presently uncomfortable with this place; she was not fond of too many humans in cramped spaces, nor was she fond of the amount of heat that the shop put off to warm incoming travelers. Being naturally an ice-type from a cold region, Alia found the current heat quite displeasing.
When Alex arrived, he pushed his way into the booth and settled in beside Faye, completely disregarding whatever consequence those movements might have had for Scottie's injured leg. "Pretty nippy out, isn't it?
" He directed the question at Faye before taking notice of the totally battered image of the teen sitting across from him. " What happened to you? On the receiving end of a Hitmonchan Sandwich?" His lips twisted in a semi-sarcastic smile. [/blockquote]

"Yeah, go right ahead." Scottie said to the girl who had plopped down into the seat across from him, scrunching Seedot and Riolu together some. Those two were not the best of friends yet, and to prevent a scuffle that would ultimately end in Seedot becoming more depressed, Scott quickly pulled out Seedot and Riolu's pokeballs and stowed both of the pokemon on his belt.
With the pretty girl came another trainer and his pokemon. Scottie repressed the urge to whip out his pokedex and figure out just what they were, and instead looked to the two trainers. The boy had just asked him a question about all the injuries he'd sustained. "Oh, um no... the broken nose is from a railing on a boat. The leg is from a pissed off Machoke." He explained a little sheepishly, being very self-conscious of the fact that he looked like death.
"I'm Scott." He said after a few moments. "Who are you guys?"

Faye responded with quite an uppity accent, grinning a 'hello' at Alexander's arrival. The chill indeed found its way to her bones, but that was easily remedied with a few ginger sips of whipped cream and cappuccino. She wasn't sure what drove Nelly to order ice cream on such a day- perhaps the cold didn't affect him like it did Faye, or perhaps Nelly was naïve to what exactly ice cream was. Regardless, Faye stuck a spoon into the sundae and scooped out a generous portion before spinning the spoon lightly to tie up the syrupy ends. Since the Feebas couldn't help himself (without making too much of a mess), Faye fed him the first bite and found the Pokemon startled by the coldness of the dessert but nevertheless enjoying it. “You can't eat ice cream all the time, Nelly.”Faye would spoon some of the strawberry sundae for herself, smearing it onto bits of her muffin. The battered boy recalled the two Pokemon sitting on her side of the booth and the girl slid over for Alex and Alia. “Oh,” Faye seemingly lamented after Scottie's explanation for his injuries, “boats are dangerous.” She then happily spaced out during the following moments of silence. And then, with her eyes still riveted to the space near the ceiling, “I'm Faye. And this is Nelly,” she gave the Feebas a light bounce on her lap. [/ul]

Alex chuckled lightly as Scottie listed the sources of his injuries; he wondered then how it was, exactly, that Scottie managed to anger a Machoke-- to the point of attacking a human. A wild Machoke might have had it in him, but the very brief and nondescript words that Scottie had used lead Alex to believe that this had all happened around the same time, perhaps in relation to one another. When Scottie introduced himself and asked the two traveling compatriots to do the same, Alex opened his mouth to speak, but closed it again when he heard Faye utter her quite profound declaration about the nature of boats; shortly thereafter, she introduced herself as if her own name had been a wayward thought, transient as the two of them were. Alex smiled softly at Faye, finding her typical absent-mindedness cute as ever; even today, though, he wondered where it was that her mind happened to wander off to during such times. He dropped a hand to her lower thigh, just above her knee, and squeezed to recall her attention to the present time. After all, it was impolite to disregard potential new friends (regardless of their physical well-being.)
"I'm Alexander Drake-- Alex or Drake for short, depending on what kind of person you are," he smiled at Scottie as he spoke, pausing for just a moment to offer a light shrug that indicated that Scottie could call him just about whatever he wanted; then, he continued, "And this is Alia, my Sneasel. Now, if you care to, why don't you go a little more into the specifics of what exactly you managed to do to anger a Machoke? Or a ship's railing, for that matter?"

At Alex's urging, Scottie leaned back some and reminisced on the crazy story involving his friend Wade, and a boat that had been filled with fossils in the hull.
"Alright, well the broken nose I did on the railing of the ship, and well it's not super important to the story, but I'd been kind of drunk when that happened. Champagne..." He mumbled for a few minutes about the evils of drinking too much before he continued on. "Well, we apparently were there to stop some bad guys, but we wound up getting a Machoke and a Scyther going after us."
Scott took a sip of his coffee and rolled his eyes. "I barricaded myself into a bunkroom, but the Machoke broke through and he tossed a dresser onto my leg. Snapped it like a toothpick, luckily my buddy's Beedrill was able to beat the Machoke before it whooped up on me any further."
The story didn't sound as epic as the parts of it that Scottie remembered, in fact, he felt a little stupid telling the whole thing now. Sounded more like the two of them had just been meddling where they shouldn't have been and somebody took offense and sent their pokemon after them. "Anyway, tell me about yourselves." He tried to change the subject quickly, so that they wouldn't ask anymore about that stupid night.

she would add absently cheery, forgoing the battered trainer's name since she had sort of... forgotten it already. It'll come back to her soon, hopefully. Faye was still shoving spoonfuls of dessert into Feebas's mouth, the Pokemon having lost the greatest enjoyment from eating the ice cream as his tongue ran cold. Regardless, due to the girl's unintentional insistence and how good the first bites were, Nelly wasn't opposed to finishing the whole thing. The feeding only paused as Faye fished her pocket for the small Pokedex. It was recently that she'd gotten a handle of the device. The girl found it incredibly helpful given her inexperience of the Pokemon world, and the gadget even gave advice on how to care for Nelly! (Not that advice really changed her care for the creature.) As Scottie spoke, Faye pecked at the keyboard with a hand, typing in the Pokemon names- Machoke, Scyther, Beedrill- to see the picture representations of them. They all looked like a dangerous bunch! Pocketing the Dex, Faye's free hand warmed itself on the warm cup of cappuccino. Scottie's story only reiterated the point of boats being dangerous, and becoming confident because her statements were correct, began again, “well I hope you're back on both feet soon.” The topic shifted and Faye didn't fight it, continuing, “Alex and I come from Johto, we're traveling buddies! I've lived in Olivine City all my life and haven't left it- well... I guess I did since I'm like- here. I got Nelly from the Pokemon lab recently. Nelly, like the sea monster, get it?” She beamed, still misinformed. “I'm a boring person,” the statement was chased with a sigh, “my hobbies are gardening, reading, sewing...” Even Faye could tell with a glance at the two boys' faces that her show-and-tell time was long over. Without much change in her vacant expression, words stopped coming out of her mouth and hesitantly closed. [/ul]

Alex leaned over the table's top, listening with great interest to Scottie's story. "Sounds like you ran into a really rough bunch. Good thing your friend's Beedrill had the strength to fight off that Machoke, or you would have been in an even worse way." He broke his speech off momentarily to squeeze Faye's leg one final time before fishing a berry from his coat pocket and passing it to Alia as a quick snack. When he returned his attention to Scotty, the teenage trainer began to answer his counterpart's question, "Mm, it's as Faye says. We're from the Johto region, though I'm from Blackthorne City, just a hop and a skip from the Kanto and Johto Indigo Plateau. Alia here's been my partner for many years, though we haven't started focusing on battling until just after we arrived in Cheyenne. Before you ask why we're here, I'm here to collect the Cheyenne Badges and compete in this region's Pokemon League before carrying on to search for a certain person. Faye's along for the ride, as she didn't have the most interesting life before I came along..." Alex trailed into a quiet chuckle; he had amused himself with his own half-sarcasm, as the comment was ment to be a playful jab at Faye while also telling a quite truthful tale-- her life had been rather mundane before the two began their journey. Honestly speaking, Alex wasn't sure how she had managed to keep trudging on in those conditions, as he had grown quickly accustomed to constantly moving, and settling in one place tended to make him restless after a few weeks. He supposed that he was like his mother in that regard, though he loathed to admit to that comparison.
"Mm, and that's our story. What're you doing here?"

Scottie listened to Faye talk, not bored exactly but with his mouth hanging open a little bit in the dawning comprehension that the girl was terribly misinformed. He debated for maybe a moment or two on whether or not he should tell the girl that Nelly was not and never had been the name of any sea monster, anywhere. Of course he finally thought better of it, and instead just smiled and nodded.
Alexander Drake seemed to be much more the spokesman of their little duo and he gave Scott something of a crash-course n their lives before coming to the Cheyenne Region. He also thought it best not to press Alex on who the person was that he might be searching for. It did not really matter all that much in the long run.
When prompted, the boy began to delve into his past, explaining some of the events that brought him to Cheyenne. "Well, I'm from the Unova Region, and my dad was a past league champ." He said, not sounding proud, but just stating it as a matter of fact. "After that he opened up a little school for trainers to learn how to use their pokemon to the best of their abilities. I spent a lot of time with him learning about them. I never made a whole lot of friends, but my dad eventually gave me a pokemon and told me that I should go out and see new places and meet new people. I guess I'm here just because I took his advice. I wish he'd told me to be more careful on boats."
The youth paused for a moment to look at Faye's Feebas, which appeared to be suffering from brain freeze. "Um, my hobbies are pretty simple I guess. I like to read, and anything about pokemon fascinates me quite a lot. I like music, and my mom taught me some other girly hobbies when I was younger, but I'll not get into that."
He finished talking and gazed at the pair of trainers across from him. "Have you guys had a chance to do much battling lately?"

Alex listened with mild interest as Scottie recounted the gist of his life's story to date. Champion's son? The battered boy's heritage greatly intrigued Alex, and was only further interested in Scottie when he declared that he had learned the nuances of battling from his father, the former champion. "Mm, nah, we haven't had that much experience in battling. I've done some battles here and there, but nothing too complex. I'm fairly new to the battling scene, and Nelly is Faye's first pokemon. Say-- You wouldn't happen to be interested in giving us a crash course in what your father taught you? I mean, learning from the disciple of a champion is a sure-fire way to prepare myself for the League Challenges ahead. What do you say?" He offered a half-cocked smile, as if taunting Scottie to prove his mettle and validate his claims.

Faye sat rather still, preferring to enjoy listening in on a conversation than really participating in it. The Olivine native could not imagine Alexander's past no matter how many times he repeated it. How could someone's life be so chock full of adventure? Adventure was supposed to be brought it by rumors and whispers of the sea, not by a teenage wanderer heading west from the other side of Johto. Alex's playful joke went through her capacity again, and Faye only managed a kurt nod to confirm the truth- that her life had been beautifully bland, devoid of any blip of excitement besides the small pranks and games of her youth. The girl then took a sip of her caffeine before continuing to feed the last of the sundae to Nelly. At this time, the lingering vanilla dessert melted into a soupy mixture and Nelly was rather grateful the last spoonfuls weren't so freezing anymore.
Even after Alex's introduction, Scott's history still sounded much more eventful than hers. Why was everyone else so connected to Pokemon? Faye squeezed her new Feebas in a small hug, probably not the best thing to do after feeding the thing all that ice cream. “It's okay to have girly hobbies,” uh- his name again? Faye continued her reassuring statement, “I have some manly hobbies.” She couldn't immediately think of any interests of hers that qualified as manly. Maybe walking. Or eating. Did sleeping count? Faye would shake her head as the conversation continued, moving on to the prospects of Pokemon battles.
