Route One. It was right there on the map, the starting point. Eri didn't bother reading it - she couldn't fathom to think about that damned piece of paper, with it's century old creases and freshly drawn routes. The note left behind by her father - not for her eyes; or maybe it was, and he was just having fun rubbing in the fact that she was a daughter, and not the son they wanted. This was a rare moment for Eri; she wasn't usually angry in this manner, but then again, she wasn't usually wandering around on her own - with a Pokémon on her shoulder - and no way to get home again.
The cyndaquil was silent as they marched, carefully perching (with surprising accuracy) upon Eri's right side. The path before them wasn't very well maintained, but Eri didn't think about that. The first destination on the map that had been circled, was a gym. She remembered that much. Which meant that her first stop would be there, and she would have to use this little Pokémon (cyndaquil nudged at Eri's cheek as soon as the thought blossomed in her mind, but she did not turn her head). Was she a trainer? Not yet, not.. Not really. The idea was still foreign to her; but Eri had to make the most of the situation.
Around her, the grasses shifted with the breeze, almost like they were welcoming her with a subtle summer dance. The girl looked from the tall grass to the long road ahead of her, and picked up her pace.

-------- WILD LARVESTA!
The long road that led to Ile Electrique introduced a fun fork in the road, allowing trainers a chance to take the long way to the city if they wanted to explore. While one path seemed like a more direct route to the looming skyscrapers in the horizon, the other one led to a gigantic oak tree that was decorated in ribbons and shiny pieces of scrap metal. It looked as if several wild Pokemon had worked together in order to properly praise the tree, and one of its celestial envoys was traveling down the path to talk to all kinds of common folk. A fuzzy but lovable Larvesta crawled across the dirt path, wearing a bright red ribbon that matched the giant ones dangling from the oak tree's branches. She looked as chipper as the blue bird in Zip-a-dee-doo-da, and she even hummed a merry tune as she enjoyed the relaxing weather.
Everything about this place felt fresh, and she was more than glad to have left her swarm for a place like this. It was the place for her! Not many predators bothered to attack her either, since they all feared her Flame Body ability that kept them at bay. She was extremely careful when it came to staying on the path, absolutely refusing to leave the center of it as she approached Eri. When she finally noticed the human, she couldn't help but wonder if she was dealing with a friendly stranger or not. The human was about as dark as an Ekans, and her gaze didn't look very friendly.
Perhaps a simple hello would change that? <Hello, friend. Would you like to learn about Celebi's Oak Tree today?> She asked her in a sweet tone, not even sure if the human could understand her. Not that it mattered, since she was giving out Celebi Protection Charms anyways. Giving out gifts was a universal language, and there was no doubt in her mind that even the coldest serpent would warm up to a treasure like that!

Eri didn't notice the Pokemon at first, but that was no surprise. She wasn't watching the road so much right now - her mind was filled with thoughts of her father, and the overwhelming hurt that he had brought to her. She roused only when her cyndaquil kicked off of her shoulder, sliding down her arm (as if it were a fireman's pole!) and then landing a few feet away. Confused, Eri paused. She didn't take a step forward, but she also did not run - she was confused. But her starter, with it's nose in the air, seemed to notice something that she didn't. That was when the white fluffball of a creature paraded in front of them both; chattering away, all that Eri could hear was (what she perceived to be) the Pokemon's name. Crossing her arms over her flat chest, Eri watched as the cyndaquil took a defiant step towards the strange creature - and then it flared up. It's rear was suddenly engulfed in flames, and the girl began to panic.
"Oh no! What are you doing?" The poor trainer nearly shrieked, as she finally recoiled from the scene. The cyndaquil did not appear to be harmed however, and continued to sniff at the air around the Larvesta. Unbeknownst to Eri, her starter was having a conversation. And the conversation, hidden from the new trainer, went like this:
"Halt! Who goes there," the cyndaquil had chortled as soon as she could sense another nearby; this was when she was still perched (expertly) upon Eri's shoulder. With a quick slide, she had (skillfully) launched herself off of her trainer's arm and on to the ground (landing without a hitch, of course).
"This trainer is under the protection of-" Cyndaquil was starting to spout nonsense, but then was caught off-guard by the Larvesta; as soon as a response was heard, the fire-type flared up with a display of her firepower (it was mighty, it was fierce, it - scared her trainer?) "A tree? You want us to visit a tree. Pah, we can't stop now, we're going... Um." The 'quil turned her head (and in effect her whole body) in order to look at Eri. She was still shocked by the fire, and looked as white as a sheet. "Where are we going?"
But of course, Eri couldn't understand anything that was going on. She had yet to forge a true relationship with her starter, and thus, they were not linked deeply enough for the communication barrier to be lifted. The girl did not know of this, though. All she saw were two squabbling Pokemon - so she did what she thought trainers were supposed to to. "Cynadquil! --" the little fire-type canted her head to one side, listening, "A-Attack it!" But the cyndaquil just peered over at the Larvesta, with a small shrug of her little shoulders and an apologetic look on her face. (Yeah, like she's going to do that).

They seemed new to the area, especially considering they didn't seem to realize just how amazing and important this particular tree was! <My friend, i'm afraid this isn't just any tree! This tree has been there for hundreds of years...millions even! It also is Celebi's home! Yes, she's been gone a long time but one day she'll return and the trees leaves will turn golden, flowers will bloom, and there will be peace through out the area! She'll reward all of us who have taken care of and protected her tree too! It'll be absolutely fabulous!> With a glance back towards her tree, the Larvesta let out a long sigh, her mind still lost in it's thoughts of how amazing it'd be for Celebi to come back to the tree -- even if it apparently hadn't been seen there for decades. <Come on! This is a once in a life time opportunity! Who knows, maybe Celebi will even grant your wish?> she said softly, clearly eager to show off just how amazing her beloved tree really was. ::larvesta:: LARVESTA (6|F) [FLAME BODY] Ember||String Shot Guardian of an old oak tree, this Larvesta feels as if touching another tree means cheating on her old oak tree.
