Stella, acting as a sort of look-out for her new trainer, swooped down and called softly to the Marill, so as not to frighten it by just fluttering down in front of its face. She didn't want the little Pokemon to wake her trainer.
{Hey, you!} she whisper-called, slowly decending to become eye-level with the Marill. {What are you doing in here? She's sleeping, but that won't stop me from fighting you if you try to do anything to my trainer!}
The whispering didn't wake Chloe, as she was dog-tired from walking around all day. She hadn't had that kind of exercise for a while and the fatigue coupled with the dull pain in her leg had rendered her in a sort of comatose state while she slept. She merely rolled over into a different position.
Spindle was a lighter sleeper, though, and he woke up at the sound of Stella whispering and looked around. There was just a little Marill standing in the entrance, but it looked a little frightened at the thought of someone else being in the cave, so he just curled up and went back to sleep. Stella could handle it.

The Marill was caught between relief and anxiety. At least they don't seem to find me annoying or going to through me out yet. thought the Marill, slowly making his way inside the cave, keeping a wary eye on the zubat. He knew that that pokemon wouldn't have any problem fighting in this dark cave. Oh, if only I were a Geodude, then I could just blend in with the rest of the background.
But he wasn't, was he? He was a fat water mouse thing who could barely stand the cold outside. He shuddered at the thought of being thrown out, or worse, getting knocked out by Stella. His ears flattened in a statement of submission, his tail slump low. He stood quite still, still unsure what he should do, and then, very slowly, he inched his way deeper into the cave.
But then, as he was almost confident that the Zubat was going to let him through, one of the rocks moved, scaring him. It was Geodude, a pokemon he had been fantasizing to be just a moment ago. The Geodude wasn't at all worried by the humans and pokemon, all this pokemon cared about was being able to look for a much more suitable dry and rocky place to make his home. Everything was fine.
Except, the Marill had given a loud scream when he did see the moving rock in the darkness. In his frightened state, he began sending sprays of water all over the place. Hitting Stella, the sleeping Chloe and even the innocent Geodude.

Stella watched the Marill slink away warily, fluttering there in the air between the ceiling and floor, using her echolocation to keep track of the little Pokemon. Not having eyes was fine with her, but she couldn't wait to be a Golbat. . .
She had started to think that all was clear and was about to go back up to the ceiling and take watch from there, but then the Marill gave a surprised shreik and Stella was suddenly blasted in the face by a jet of water, sending her spiraling into the wall. She fell to the ground, quite dazed.
Chloe had been dreaming a nice little dream about her being a Gym Leader, with a trusty little Pachirisu at her side. Why that Pokemon? No one but a dream analysis could know. She was just about to win her match when a wail cut through her dream and woke her.
She opened her eyes a little bit, planning to roll over and just go right back to sleep when she violently splashed with some water. She sat bolt-upright, causing her head to fuzz for a few seconds, and she looked around wildly, waking Spindle in the process.
"Oh my God! We're under attack! Thundershock, Patches!" Chloe cried, her dream still vivid in her mind. However, she didn't have a Pachirisu at her side, just Spindle, and the little Spinarak was throughly confused as to why his friend had just called him Patches and asked him to use an attack he couldn't possibly know.

The Marill was absolutely in hysterics now. The plump water Pokémon was emitting loud, obnoxious screams as she propelled the water throughout the cave throughly drenching everything, including Chloe's only form of a sleeping bag. The frigid cold was starting to seep into the water-chilled cave. The night was officially ruined and unsalgable. Thanks to that Marill.
Once he stopped spraying the water, he let out a shudder that went through his bones. Even with his thick fat, he was a weakling for the cold. Letting out a whimper he gazed around at the eyes fixed upon him. Feeling self-conscious he shrank against the wall once again, his blue body turning pink in shame. <U-u-uhh...> he stammered, before deciding to shut-up and remain motionless.
The Geodude meanwhile was furious, he was roused from his nice warm wall and if that wasn't bad enough he was completely drenched. Letting out a mighty roar, he grabbed the Marill by the tail and yanked it to eye level, where he was hovering. <YOU STUPID MOUSE!> he hollered, certainly waking up anything was would possibly still be sleeping.
The Marill tearfully replied with a Tackle to the Geodude and quickly scampered towards the safety of the back of the cave. The trainer was blocking the way though, and he was caught between three Pokémon and a trainer. This was not looking good for him. Quickly he charged towards the trainer, hoping to make it safely past her. He had not noticed the Spinarak nearby though, and was unaware of the possible danger he was currently in.

Chloe stared at her sleeping bag type bed roll in dismay. Her only chance of getting warm! Sure, she had this really big jacket, but she still managed to get extremely cold no matter what. Her sorrow had completely blocked out everything else that was going on in the cave.
Stella got up from the ground and flew to the ceiling, shaking out her short, blue fur and letting her wings hang as she attempted to dry them, all the while glaring at the Marill angrily.
Spindle glanced up at his trainer and frowned. She seemed so unhappy that her sleeping bag was sopping wet. She was pretty drenched herself, but she didn't seem to notice that fact at all. The poor girl had already started to shiver.
Angry at the little pudgy mouse Pokemon, Spindle skittered out in front of his trainer and used a string of his sticky web to lift him up into the air.
He hung upside down, then spun around quickly, wrapping himself up in more of his web-like material until all that was noticable on his body were the eye-like marks on his abdomen. They turned slightly to make it look like they were glaring at the Marill. It was his Scary Face attack.

The marill was almost near the gap between the trainer's legs when suddenly an evil face glared at her from nowhere. The blue mouse almost choked at the sight and was able to let out a high-pitched cry of fear. She found herself incapable of moving, though her mind was practically begging her to flee; symptoms of a typical 'Scary Face'. Marill didn't know what that attack was and what it did, instead believing that ghosts were holding her down. At this point the blue mouse simply panicked, eyes wide and mouth dripping with foamed saliva. Why was everyone attacking her? She curled into a ball, quivering not from the cold, but from the danger she was in.
The geodude had no idea of what the marill was feeling, and kept attacking her even as she curled up into a ball. With a roar, the moving rock tackled the blue ball mercilessly, as if he was directing all his anger towards it.

Spindle unraveled himself from the web he had created and stood back down on the ground, looking proud at what he had done. He had merely wanted to get revenge for his trainer, and now he had it by making it impossible for the little Marill to escape the battle.
Chloe came to her senses and looked up from her sopping bed and blinked at the Marill and Geodude. The Geodude was totally wiping the floor with the poor mouse, and she felt a pang of sympathy run through her.
"C'mon, Marill! You've got the Type advantage! Use Water Gun or something!" she encouraged the little water mouse, engendering confused looks from her Spinarak.

The marill, reduced to half its hp from the geodude's violent onslaught, heard the calls from the human and came back to her senses. The trainer's words seemed to encourage her a bit; that was enough to make marill stand a chance. Uncurling herself, the blue mouse shot a glare at the rock Pokémon and tackled him with all her might, which sent him flying towards the wall with a sickening thud.
The marill turned towards Chloe with gleaming eyes, and, ignoring the spinarak, approached her. When she was close enough, she darted up to her and clung to one of her legs, tears streaming down her face. <Please help me,> The blue mouse begged. <My trainer abandoned me near here, and..> Tears flew from her eyes like a fountain as if they'd never end. Overwhelmed with sad feelings, she plunged herself into the human's leg and drowned it in tears.
Farther away, the geodude lay face-down on the floor. Obviously he was knocked out; you could even capture him, if you want.
[Spindle gains a level for participating.]

Chloe smiled as the Marill took care of the angry Geodude, then looked at it in surprise as the little Pokemon started to cry into her legs. She winced as she hit her injured leg wrong, but said nothing about it.
To make it more comfortable, Chloe picked up the little blue mouse and cradled it. "It's alright. . . I'm sure that trainer wasn't right for you, any way! Any person who abandons such a great Pokemon isn't all that smart anyway!" she said, trying to comfort the sobbing little mouse.
Stella watched the Geodude suspiciously, hoping that if it woke it would be smart enough to go find a hole somewhere to sit. Otherwise, it would probably get stuck losing again.
Spindle looked up at his trainer in surprise. Hadn't Chloe just been mad at the Pokemon? Now she was trying to comfort it? Man, humans didn't make any sense sometimes. . . Ah well, he just scuttled up against her and started to nod off to sleep.

The Marill sobbed into Chloe's pant leg, not noticing that the trainer was crippled in any way, shape or form. The small blue mouse, sniffed as she was gently picked up by warm hands and clutched. The kind words made tears well up in the poor pokemon's eyes and tears started trickling down her face only to get absorbed by her skin.
<Y-you are so PERFECT.> the Marill blubbered, clutching the girl tightly. Gradually the Marill began to compose herself though until she was simply sniffling. <Sorry about that... I've just been so alone.> she said, looking slightly abashed. Her eyes drifted downwards to the sodden sleeping bag and she flushed a deep red. <Oh, ah... Sorry.> she muttered.
<But... you really think I'm great?> the Marill questioned, her azure eyes shining brightly with hope.

Chloe smiled down at the little Pokemon and nodded. "Of course. You handled that Geodude pretty well once you got over the shock of being attacked in the first place. I don't see why any trainer would abondon you. And you're cute, to boot!" she giggled.
She glanced at the sleeping bag and shrugged. "It'll get dry eventually. I'm sure my Pokemon wouldn't mind keeping me warm for the time being," she said, glancing at Stella and Spindle. Both Pokemon nodded, and Chloe had a few more in their Pokeballs that she thought wouldn't mind, either.

The marill felt warm and comfortable in the trainer's grasp. In her heart, she knew that Chloe was the best person to be with, rather than her last trainer. She rested in Chloe's arms for a few moments, the tears around her eyes slowly drying as she reorganized her thoughts.
Her next words, clear and confident, fell out of her mouth like a faucet: <Let me come with you.> She was almost startled by the intensity of her voice at that moment, but her outward appearance didn't falter as she added, <I'll try not to let you down.>

Chloe looked down at the little Water Pokémon and studied it for a few seconds, then smiled. "I don't believe it possible for you to let me down," she giggled, setting the Marill down so she could fish through her pack. She dragged the bag from its little hiding spot behind a rock and found that it was actually dry despite the Pokemon's little fit a few minutes ago. She dug inside until she pulled out of her many Pokeballs, then she turned back to the Marill. "Alright. Welcome to the team!" she said cheerily, gently tossing the Pokeball at the Marill. "I promise I won't let you down as your new trainer."

The Marill eyes shone with unshed tears, and her smile was one of pure joy. <Thank you! I-I promise anyway! I'll fight my hardest!> she exclaimed, as she was set down on the ground. There, unable to restrain her happiness she did a small dance, her arms waving above her body.
As the pokeball was tugged out of the pack, the Marill stared at it in wonder, but with slight fright, remembering the last time she had been captured in one of those. Her trainer had been cruel and abandoned her. Chloe's soft smile and gentle words soothed her and as the warm, scarlet light surrounded her, she was sucked in.
Without even a tremble, the ball pinged, this Marill had no problem joining the team.
Congrats! You have captured a Marill!

Meanwhile, the torrent of rain slowed a bit. It didn't stop by any means, but it slowed to a moderate drizzle. The Geodude slowly awakened, struggling up to his hovering state. Dazed, he retreated further back into the cave, quickly disappearing from sight. He was weak, and easily capturable, but you'd have to go after him. Or you could simply go an see what lays in the cave's depths.
Explore the Cave? Go after the Geodude? Or head back out? Or do something else?

Spindle and Stella watched the Geodude abscond, then both huffed. At least it wasn't going to try and pick another fight. They settling into taking a nap. Well, Stella didn't. She was nocturnal Pokemon, so she hung from the ceiling and kept watch.
Smiling, Chloe picked up the small Pokeball and examined it. "I'll call you Marcee," she yawned, placing a hand over her mouth. While she did that, the Pokeball shimmered, then disappeared, being automatically sent to her PC. Her party was full with six Pokemon, so she didn't have room.
However, she knew she could fix that with her Pokedex. There was a little button that could switch out Pokemon, but she would deal with that in morning. There were other things she wanted to be doing right that second.
She was feeling extremely tired and had yet to get in a full night's rest. She lied down next to Spindle and drifted off to sleep, curling into a small ball. It didn't take long for her to start sawing logs.

The night was indeed calm and peaceful so, many Pokemon had scurried off to sleep for the night. On the other hand, one curious Pikachu with the personality to get into everything she could trotted up to the sleeping trainer. [Are you dead?] She asked and poked the top of the trainer's head with her tiny finger. Looking over at Spindle, Pikachu grew a tiny smile and decided to use a jolt of thunder shock to awaken them.

When the Pikachu had poked Chloe's head, she merely took a deep breath and turned over, mumbling something incoherent in her sleep. Maybe she was dreaming again, but this one she wouldn't remember when she awoke.
Spindle clicked his mouth parts together at a sound, but didn't stir. That is, until the electricity got him. Both he and Chloe woke with a jolt of pain, crying out at the electricity coursed through them.
Stella had been watching the Pickachu warily, then saw too late that it was a hostile. She squawked noisily and flew down in front of the Pikachu, opening her fanged mouth and emitting a shrill cry, her Supersonic attack, in order to confuse her foe. {How dare you attack my trainer!}

The Pikachu giggled with delight when the trainer and Spindle awoke. <WAKE UP> It squealed as it blushed in satisfaction. Seemed like it was fairly young. The wild mouse pokemon was too happy with itself to notice the attack from the bird. It was hit by the supersonic. <WAHHH!> It knew nothing of the world of pokemon trainers and the comment that Stella had made had it more confused then the attack.
<If you're going to be mean then feel my... my....> It sneezed violently sending out bolts of electricity in every direction. <Wrath?> Pikachu used Sneeze Thundershock

Stella was hit by one of the stray arcs of lightning and crumpled to the floor. Chloe bent over to the ground and covered her little Spinarak, then returned her Zubat when she had the chance.
"Hey! Pikachu! I'm trying to sleep! I don't want to play right now!" Chloe yawned. Spindle skittered out from under her and glared at the little yellow mouse, clicking his mandibles together. "Maybe in the morning."
{Yeah! Now scat or else we'll have to teach you a lesson!} Spindle huffed, nodding his head sharply once. {Where do you get off shocking someone without provocation, anyway?}
