Chloe hissed mildly through her teeth as the Spinarak skittered expertly over the forest floor to wherever it was he was going to take her. She wanted to plead with it to slow down, but her pride kept her mouth clamed shut.
She walked around the puddles that the Spinarak tromped through, not wanting to slip and fall and get herself even more soaked.
Chloe pushed herself harder to keep up with the Pokemon, but her leg had started to throb most uncomfortably, and the pain had started to ebb toward unbearable. The cane could only keep so much weight off of her crippled limb.
Practically collapsing when she finally reached the cave the Spinarak had led her to, Chloe sighed with relief. She could sit and rest now, and she was also out of that freezing rain. Normally the darkness would have bothered her, but not now. The Spinarak was there, and she was going to get dry!
"Oh, thank you," she muttered through ragged breaths, setting the cane to the side and massaging her leg. She finally took out the bottle of pain-pills she always carried with her and swallowed two of them dry. "Wish I could start a fire, but I think we'll manage without one."

Were all humans this breakable?
The Spinarak thought it over. He had never really been this up close to a human. Natural instinct told him to stay clear whenever humans were near. And anyway, humans also tried to stay clear away from his species. Maybe afraid of getting bitten or they considered his species as pests. He had always been told that humans were on top of the food chain and had heard of stories that pokemon in the wild were captured by humans, depleting their numbers drastically all the while.
Why was it like that anyway?
He doubted he could summon the courage to ask this human and then perhaps she would answer defensively about her own specie, as would he. He sighed, he had a lot on his mind today. <"The rain won't last too long."> The Spinarak decided to answer, clicking his mandible to answer. <"The clouds seem darker than usual today, maybe winter is near.">
He shuddered at the thought of winter coming early this year. He had enough trouble as it was.

Chloe nodded absent-mindedly and drew her knees up to her chest, trying to quell the shivers that still shook her little body. She thought about calling on one of her Pokemon to cuddle with her, but she didn't want them to catch cold.
She thought about striking up a conversation with the Spinarak, but she couldn't fully understand Pokespeech. Only bits and pieces, enough to answer yes or not to some question and get the main idea of what a Pokemon was trying to say.
"I hate this time of the year," she said at last, when the silence became deafening. "It's always so cold. . . I'm always so cold. . . ," she continued, really ranting than anything else. She was a bit smaller than other girls her age, and being kept inside for years had slowed her circulation, making it easier for her to get cold.

The Spinarak had never met anything that didn't understand him before, so simply believed that the trainer was being ignorant. It barely tutted, and scutlled over to the cave wall. With the sucker pads on it's spindly legs, the bug-type began to walk up the wall, until he was rested vertically on the rock face. But Spinarak didn't realise that they weren't alone in the cave. They were being watched...
With a shreik, a hoarde of Zubat dropped from the ceiling, swarming around Chloe. They didn't like non-pokémon intruders in their cave! Sqeaking and beating their wings, the batlike creatured converged on the human. Spinarak seemed to be being attacked also, for some unknown reasons.

"Ack!" Chloe cried, instinctively throwing her arms up over head and doubling over into a little ball. She tried to protect her head and face from the angry Zubats.
Groaning, Chloe swatted at the bats, trying to get them to leave her alone, then she pulled out all three of her Pokemon's Pokeballs and tossed them into the air. "Get them away!" she cried, flailing her arms some more.
Twizzler jumped into action immediately and started to move his heads frantically, his two beaks glowing brightly as it used Peck on the frantic Zubat flying around the little cave. It squawked as it moved, moving his talons quickly, making it look like he was dancing.
Jayda, however, took things a different way. She flew up and hovered halfway to the roof of the cave and her eyes started to glow a calming blue color as she used Hypnosis to put lull the Zubat into sleep.
Kipper and Static were back-to-back, but that wasn't going to last very long. Static jumped to Chloe's side and growled at the Zubat, hoping that his Intimidate would be enough to keep the bats from attacking his trainer.
Kipper was a little more productive, like the other two Pokemon. He was using his Water Gun to try to propell the Zubat away from his new trainer.
Chloe had a plan of her own. She took out a Pokeball and tossed it into the fray, hoping to catch one of the blue bat Pokemon. One wasn't going to put a dent in a flock of twenty, but she thought catching one of them would pretty ok for her.

The Zubat faltered as the four Pokémon came out. But they didn't look that strong, especially not against 20 Zubat. That meant five against one! And they were favourable odds, in the Zubats opinion. But suddenly, things began to go wrong. Zooming too close for comfort near the lead bat, a glowing beak whizzed through the air, taking out one of her comrades. The Doduo had got a lucky hit. They were down to nineteen! Just as she was about to go for the Doduo, she felt something hit her back hard. Whirling round, the Zubat leader realised that it was another Zubat. Unconcious! But wait, it was not unconcious, merely asleep! Looking around, the Zubat noticed that about four of her cave-dwelling freinds had fallen prey to the Jade Hoothoots attack, collapsing on the ground. This was becoming a predicament. There was a cute growl, from what her ultrasonic waves told her was a Shinx, but fortunately it did nothing. Her Zubat colony were made of stronger stuff! Angrily, the lead Zubat soared at the Hoothoot above her, two more of her allies savagely blasted by a water gun behind her. But before she could reach the nocturnal bird Pokémon, something hard and mettalic hit her in the back. She felt herself being sucked into the sphere, with barely enough time to shreik in shock. It was a Pokéball! The red and white ball fell to the floor, wobbled once, twice, and was still.
You caught a Zubat! ::zubat:: Level: 9 Attacks: Astonish, Leech life, Supersonic. Gender: Female
At the sight of their leader being captured, the twelve remaining Zubats (not counting those who were asleep) became enraged. Frenzied, four of them broke off to attack the Wooper, using four simultaneous leech life attacks on it. Four more darted upwards towards Jadya, using four Supersonic attacks at the same time, to try and stop her from sending any more of them to sleep. Finally, not caring about the Shinx, who had done next to nothing, the last four flew over to Twizzler, two using leech life and two using supersonic. Sutely, no Pokémon could fight off four attacks at once?

Chloe sent the Shinx off to fetch the Pokeball, and he brought it back to her obediently, weaving in and out of the frenzied Zubat. He dropped the Pokeball in her lap and went back to standing by his trainer's side, just trying to keep the Zubat away from her. Though it seemed they were now occupied with attack his comrades.
Twizzler squawked as the Zubat came at him. He used his Quick Attack right then and managed to avoid two of the Zubat's Leech Life attacks, but both Supersonics, being made up of sound, hit their mark. Twizzler stumbled and crashed to the ground, feeling dizzy.
Jayda was higher than most of the other Pokemon there, but not even she could avoid four Supersonic attacks. She cut off her Hypnosis and banked hard to the left to avoid colliding with the Zubat, but her head became all fuzzy from the high-pitched screeching. She ended up running into the wall and falling to the ground, but she got back onto her talons, shaking her feathers out.
Kipper was a little more well-adept to the situation, as he had a long-range attack. He used Water Gun to attempt to blast all four of his enemies away, but in the mean time the Shinx was there, leaping at the nearest Zubat with his head lowered for a Tackle attack. He couldn't just stand by!
Chloe looked down at her Pokeball and thought for a few seconds, then picked it up in her right hand. Maybe the Zubat in the Ball could convince the others to leave her and her Pokemon alone. . . They were only acting in self-defence, after all. . .
Nodding to herself, Chloe threw the Pokeball into the air and released the Zubat within. "Tell them to leave us alone!" she commanded. She would think of a name later.

OOC: I know you did end up typing a lot, but it would be a little helpful to the Mods and everyone else to actually role-play the Zubat talking. Otherwise, it isn’t really happening at all. ^^’ So, don’t take my own post the wrong way.
BIC:
The two Zubat that were struggling with Twizzler were utterly confused, their echoes weren’t pinpointing the Doduo properly. To anything with eyes, it was easy to see what had happened and it was simple to react accordingly. But to them, Twizzler had disappeared into thin air, and were constantly trying to search for moving targets among the madness in the tiny cave.
<Here! Get it!> Two cries from the other two Zubat were shouting a warning, sensing the distraught movements of their companions. The four were quick to gang up on the Doduo again, two of them using Astonish on the birds legs, while the others began latching onto whatever part they could find with Leech Life.
One of the Zubats were about to charge straight at Jayda with its teeth coming even closer, the other three backing it up when a String Shot came out of nowhere to tangle the group together. The wild Spinarak had the four in his grips, and with a determined smile, he swung them to the ground with the help of gravity. The blow h ad defiantly hurt the four Zubat, cursing themselves for forgetting that they were supposed to be against the blasted spider as well. The most they could do was shout out insults and Supersonics at the Spinarak, which was all it took to make him confused as well.
Kipper had it fairly easy, managing to knock three of the Zubat back while one escaped just in the nick of time. With its speedy maneuvering, it was able to sense another force hurrying to his side as well, which began to make him nervous. With an aerial spin, he shot like a bullet to the left and right, all around the Water Gun as if he was playing with it. If that blasted Shinx wanted to get it, he was welcome to. But would he risk getting wet? A dangerous thought, because no one wanted to electrocute themselves. He was only inches away from the Wooper, when he suddenly shrieked at the top of his lungs, preparing to tackle the Wooper with an Astonish.

[OOC: Totally understand.] Chloe's newest Pokemon, Zubat, appeared in a flash of light, fluttering her wings as she swayed back and forth. She wasn't at all happy to have been caught so easily, but she had a trainer now. . . Wasn't she supposed to listen to her? While the Zubat warred with herself, Twizzler was trying to free himself from the four Zubat that kept attacking him. He flailed both of his heads around, beaks glowing as he tried to bat the bats away with Peck attack. However, he was still confused, so he ended up stumbling around and bumping into the walls of the cave as he darted around with Quick Attack. Chloe looked around wildly. She had to do something to help her Pokémon! Her new Zubat was just floating there in the air, looking a bit helpless. Chloe sighed. Of course she would be a little hesitant to go against her former comrades. How could she have been so stupid? Kipper squealed in fear at the loud noise and scary face the Zubat had made for Ashtonish and he fell over, tumbling and gaining a nice big bruise after landing on a rock. Static growled, then leapt at the Zubat, trying another Tackle attack. Jayda was still standing on the ground, trying to un-fuzz her head from the Supersonics attacks. She looked around and decided not to move at all. That way she would lessen her chance of hurting herself from stumbling around in a drunken manner. She waited for the right time to attack. "You don't have to attack them, Zubat! Just tell them that we don't mean them harm and we just needed shelter from the storm!" Chloe called to her new Pokémon. She didn't like the odds of this fight. The Zubat looked around. She didn't like her fellow Zubat getting hurt any more than Chloe liked to see her Pokémon getting hurt. She flew forward a little bit, then used her own Supersonic attack to try and gain the attention of her former flock. {Hey! Leave them alone! They're not here to hurt us! Just get back to sleep and leave these Pokémon in peace!} she screeched.

These zubats were very angry, they wanted to continue to attack. All of the zubats were about to use Poison sting, they wanted to destroy the trainer, they wanted her to feel misery, they were pokemon and they despised everything trainers stood for, their were the ZZZs. Almost like the KKK's yet a smaller version and lamer. They heard their old leader attack and flew away.
They had loyalty to her and hid back into their caves, they let out numerous screech attacks and went back to sleep.

Chloe sighed and plopped down onto her back as the Zubat started to fly back to their caves and stop their attack. At least that ordeal was finally over and she and her Pokemon were pretty much ok.
Jayda hooted with pleasure and fluffed out her feathers a little bit before hopping over to her trainer and smiling brightly. Her confusion had finally worn off and she was ready to go.
Twizzler was still flat on the ground, too afraid to move, as his head was still spinning unpleasantly from the Supersonic attacks he had suffered. Chloe sighed. She struggled to get up and hobbled over to her Doduo, the rest of her Pokemon following.
Kneeling down, Chloe put a hand on one of Twizzler's heads. "You did great Twiz. You deserve nice little rest in your Pokeball," she mumured, taking out his Pokeball. She scratched his head one more time, gaining a happy little croon, then returned Twizzler to his Pokeball.
She turned to the rest of her Pokemon and smiled pleasantly. "You all did great! I'm so proud of each and every one of you! You all deserve a long rest!" she said quietly to each one of them, petting them. She just wished she had better gifts to give them. Chloe returned all of her Pokemon to their Pokeballs except for her new Zubat.
The Zubat fluttered down to her and hovered there-- well, she was mostly just flitting back in forth in front of her new trainer-- and waited.
"Thank you, Stella," Chloe said, holding out a hand. Stella came and rested in her palm and looked up at her. "I know that was probably hard for you to deal with your former friends, but you did great. I'm glad your on my team."
Stella squeaked happily. At least this trainer seemed to be really nice! She figured that it could have been worse, and she hopped into the air and flew circles until Chloe returned her Pokemon.
Suddenly, Chloe remembered the Spinarak. She looked around to try to find it, but couldn't see it anyway. "Are you still here, Spinarak? Are you alright?" she called quietly, afraid to awaken the Zubat flock again.

The Spinarak had been cowering behind a stalemate in the cave, cuts and bruises dotted its petite green form. It had been perching on the top of the cave when the swarm of bats attacked. Taken by surprise, the Spinarak had quickly fallen to the ground, where one bat had followed. The bug Pokémon had put up a strong fight, but she was already weak, so she had been submitted to the mercy of that foul Zubat.
Luckily for her, that particular Zubat had fallen asleep, right on top of her. Where she was now pinned, even with all of her six limbs, she was unable to hoist the dead-weight off her.
Letting out a weak groan, the bug type hearing the trainer's call muttered something weakly. <Here... help.> She hated being caught in a helpless position like this, but she was so tired, she didn't even care.
<HURRY UP I CAN'T FEEL MY LIMBS!> she yelled, hoping this would hasten the trainer a bit. Her legs were indeed falling asleep and an uncomfortable prickling was easing its way up her leg. She didn't want to deal with a numb limb, so the faster they got over here, the better.
Staring up at the spiky ceiling she let out a exasperated groan at the predicament she had gotten herself into. Listening, she noticed that the normal steady pounding of rain had eased up a bit, but now the sky was darkening, with a slowly retreating sun.

Chloe looked around at the sound of the Spinarak's call, then followed the noise, limping forward. She tried to hurry up when the Spinarak started to yell, but her leg wouldn't let her move any faster.
Luckily, though, the Spinarak was rather close by. She kneeled down in front of it and gently picked up the sleeping Zubat and freed the Spinarak. "There you go," she said quietly, setting the Zubat down on a ledge to allow it to sleep.
Yawning, Chloe sat down and covered her mouth. She knew the Zubat flock would be waking soon. She was feeling a bit sleepy, which meant that night was beginning to fall. Her stomach growled hungrily and she felt herself blush.
"Everyone's probably hungry. . ." she said to herself, pulling out a bag of Pokemon food and some bowls. She filled the bowls with some of the store-bought Pokemon Food, then called on her Pokemon. They all ate while she started to make a sandwhich.
Chloe looked to the Spinarak and indicated to another bowl that was currently empty. "Do you want something to eat?" she asked. "There's plenty."

The Spinarak looked around the route now that the mass amount of Zubat's vanished without a trace. Well, more so with the zubat's leaders screech. His body shook; it seemed that this Spinarak was very hungry. She crawled up and into the bowl and spun around around it, trying to indicate she was hungry.
+FOOD!+ he called out as he watched the Pokémon food dis-appear from their plates into the bodies of the other Pokémon.
What's that? The Spinarak rushed into the trees and grabbed a small gift for Alivia who was going to feed her.
A small brown bag appeared in the mouth of the spinarak and was placed by Chloe before the Spinarak ran back to the bowl Alivia recieves 5 pokeballs x5

Chloe giggled and reached out for the bowl. "I'll take that as a 'yes'," she laughed, pouring some food into the little dish for the Spinarak.
She looked to the bag as she sat down the bowl, then glanced at the Spinarak. She looked back down at the paper bag and opened it, peering inside. There was a whole bundle of Pokeballs inside!
"Where'd you get these?" she asked, staring at the Spinarak in bewilderment. "That's so nice of you!"

The Spinarak gave the best giggle like noise it could before letting go of the brown paper bag and diving into the bowl in front of it. <Food, glorious food!> It cooed in delight between gulps. When Chloe referred to the pokeballs the wild pokemon looked up, pieces of food caked to it's face. <Found them... Or had them thrown at me periodically.> The throwing term meant that other trainers had tried to catch it but it was lucky enough to get away. Chloe smiled and looked down at the Pokeballs, then put all of them away except one. She let the Spinarak finish eating, then she moved a little closer to him and glanced back at her five Pokemon.
They all looked up at her from their dishes and looked from the Pokeball to the Spinarak, then they just went back to eating. Twizzler nodded his head once, then both heads went to fighting over the last pellet of food.
Rolling her eyes and giggling, Chloe turned back to the Spinarak. "Hey, how would you like to come along with me?" she asked him, holding the empty Pokeball out to him. "I'd love to have your company."

The Spinarak glanced back up at the trainer from the sudden offer, nibbling quietly on the bits of food that it still had in its front limbs. This was one of the few times when it was actually attached to a trainer, and not forced into a battle with one like in the past. Something told it, that if it went with her, there was a better lifestyle waiting for it.
<I wouldn’t mind. I don’t like those Pokeball things very much though. They hurt.> It frowned at the thought of having the red and white orb thrown at its head. It was funny how little kids could be so violent, but they were.

Chloe smiled. "I'll be gentle," she assured the little spider. She reached out and gently tapped the Spinarak's back with the Pokeball, then let it back out when it was caught.
"Ok! So eat up, guys! We're going to have to stay here for the night," she declared, filling her Pokemon's bowls with more food. She didn't feed them too much, as she wanted to the Pokemon food to last for a while.
When everyone was full, she bowls away and then rolled out a little bedspread for her to sleep on. "Does anyone want to sleep in their Pokeballs?" she asked, turning to her Pokemon.
Stella answered by flying up to the ceiling of the cave and hanging upside down. She wasn't much for sleeping at night, so she was going to hang out and keep watch over her new friends. Maybe go out for a little flight or something.
However, the rest of her Pokemon didn't care either way. Chloe didn't have enough cushion for her Pokemon, she returned most of them except for her new Spinarak, who wanted to sleep outside of the Pokeball.
"Alright. Oh! And I'm going to call you Spindle," she decided, patting the little Spinarak lightly on the head.
Spindle smiled up at her, then scuttled off next to Chloe's little bedroll and curled up to take a little nap. She smiled and lied down next to him, setting her cane close by in case she needed to get up quickly, then she stared up at the ceiling and tried to drift off to sleep.
It was cold in the cave, so she ended up crawling under the little sleeping-bag type thing. Maybe she should have just gotten a real sleeping bag. . . At least the rain had stopped and the cave kept some of the heat in. It wasn't long before she finally fell into a light slumber.

::marill::
Even in the middle of the night, the occasional Pokemon needed to find shelter from the rain. This included any nomadic Pokemon, leaping from place to place in search of greater things. A Marril had unwittingly waddled into the Zubat Cave, only relieved to be out of the rain and into a warmer and more comfortable place. It was true that he was a water type, but he was a bit of a wimp when it came to temperature differences. His thick fat? Not thick enough! Right now, he was freezing his butt off as he sat next to the entrance with a bit of a sniffle. In fact, he couldn’t stop sniffling.
‘Geez. I must’ve caught a cold. Oh man, I hope this rain ends soon. I hate being all alone in the dark. It’s probably the worst part about travelling. ‘ He thought pathetically to himself, only wallowing in self pity without realizing that someone else might be in this very cave. In fact, very subtly he was able to sense the gentle breathing from Chloe and Spindle from deeper in the cave, but wasn’t thinking much about it until he did a double take. Stammering, he was back onto his two feet in shock. So many things were going through his mind at that moment, were they going to think he was a thief of some kind? This wasn’t even his home! Oh no! If they lived here…He would be out in that awful storm once more!
‘Did they hear me come in? Aw man. I hope not. If they did, they would send me out at once. I can’t let that happen. Now’s the time I wished I was a Shroomish or something, and then I could just use Sleep Powder, and wouldn’t worry about a thing. ‘ He was thinking so fast, he couldn’t keep up with himself.
