Sora walked along the path with Paras next to her. The little Pokémon stopped every now and again to sniff some particularly nice flowers. Sora smiled at her, enjoying the cool summer breeze. She wondered what Pokémon she might encounter. Sora didn't really care, so long as it was cute.

A Spearow had been soaring over the forest that surrounded Route One, the Pokémon had been enjoying the rush of air flying past his wings and the thrilling feeling of feeling faster than any being on earth. This Spearow was also enjoying the feeling of flying too much and being starving because he was reluctant to return to the ground.
With a soft sigh, the Pokémon scanned the forest floor for an edible treat. Oooh! There were some mushrooms perched on a orange rock. Scrumptious. The flying pokemon, aimed himself at the rock, put his wings to the side and barrled down with the help of gravity. He attempted to bite off the mushrooms without stopping. Although, instead of gliding gracfully towards the mushrooms he barreled into the orange rock.
The rock moved with him, which the Spearow thought was odd. Rocks were supposed to be harder weren't they? Oh well, what did he know. He was lying on the ground stunned after all.

Paras felt the Spearow on her back and screamed in terror. She tried to run away from the bird eating her mushrooms. Sora saw what was going on and prepared for battle. The Spearow wasn't cute enough to catch but Paras could use the experience. "OK Paras, use Sweet Scent to distract it and then try to hit it with Scratch." she commanded, sounding more confident than she was. She wasn't sure if Paras could reach up to her back but she had to try. She suddenly remembered that thanks to Paras' special ability, if this attack hit it had a ten per cent chance of causing sleep, paralysis or poison. As she thought of this, she took out her Pokedex and scanned Spearow. A genderless voice started to say "Spearow, the Tiny Bird Pokemon. These common Pokemon have very short tempers. They often chase people in large flocks. They have a high-pitched cry to warn each other of danger that can be heard half a mile away.". Realizing she still hadn't scanned Paras, she pointed her Pokedex at her. "Paras, the Mushroom Pokemon. Paras shares a symbiotic relationship with the mushrooms on its back. They store the nutrients Paras needs but they can't survive without a host. They live in caves or dark forests because long periods of sunlight or dry air hurts their skin." the same voice said. Sora looked guiltily at Paras. She knew that Pokeballs adopted to their resident Pokemon's needs but what if the sun was already hurting her Pokemon's precious skin?

The sweet, sweet aroma of fresh flowers, ripe fruit and cool meadows washed over the spearow, sending it into some sort of trance. It couldn't see any of the beautiful things that it was smelling, and boy, was it enraging. Suddenly, it spotted the walking mushrooms. The delicious smelling air was tinged red around them, and the source of this was coming from the orange rock! How angry this made the Spearow. It was fooling him, mocking him with the tantalising non-existant things that he was smelling. In a blind rage, the Spearow lunged forward with A viscious peck attack, it's stubby beak pointed at Paras. The Spearow may have only been level five, but it was tired and hungry and enraged. Not a good combination for a Spearow, especially not around these parts.
(Why must people always make spearow ANGRY?)

Sora wasn't going to let this, this... bully pick on her sweet little Paras. "Use Scratch. Show that meanie what you're made of Paras!" she shouted as memories flew before her eyes. Getting picked on at school, crying alone in her house, hiding in her room. This Spearow was just like those bullies and she wasn't going to let it hurt her Paras.

The scratch attack took Spearow by surprise, and it's peck attack missed! An ugly scar formed across it's face as a result of the scratch. Now it looked REAAALLLY mean. 'Th-The walking rock... Scratched me? Caawww!' Screeched Spearow. In a single flap, Spearow ascended high into the sky. The cool air soothed it's wound and rippled it's feathers enjoyably. It was good to be back in the air. But not for long. Spearow folded it's wings, and dropped like a stone. The flying type plummetted towards Paras, effectively dive-bombing the walking mushrooms. This peck attack would surely hurt it! Or hurt himself, if he missed. But best not to think about that.

"Paras. Distract it with Sweet Scent and then dodge. Got it?" she said to her Paras, who was really terrified by now. She was a bit upset that her Effect Spore hadn't worked but then again, it was only a ten per cent chance of it working. Paras released a sweet, sweet smell from its mushrooms and had to struggle not to be distracted herself. She then bent her legs and prepared to dodge out of the way. Sora decided to find out about their attacks. She held up her Pokedex and pointed it at Spearow. It binged into life and said "Peck. A flying attack used by Pokemon with beaks. It has a power of 35 and an accuracy of one hundred per cent.". Hearing this Sora looked up panicked and shouted "Paras, forget about dodging! Just use Scratch.".
OOC: Can you believe Peck always hits?!

The Spearow soon became mesmerized by the Sweet Scent, which really let the Spearow open for the Scratch attack. <I'm going to clip your claws off if you scratch me again!> The Spearow wailed angrily.
After taking a few more cuts upon it's tiny body the Spearow quickly recovered it's balance and continued to fly at the Paras with his elongated, keen, glowing beak. It just knew that this Peck attack was going to hit! Maybe it was because of this little bird's determination to win this battle.
OCC: That's interesting ^^!

The Peck hit dead on and Paras squealed at the Ultra-effective damage. "Just keep using Scratch Paras. There's always a chance that Effect Spore might kick in." commanded Sora. Obediently, Paras raised its pincer to Scratch the bird again.

By pure chance, (Or luck, whatever you want to call it.) As paras yet again scratched Spearow, Effect Spore kicked in and Spearow dropped to the ground like a stone. He was still concious and awake, but his limbs would not move, save for the slightest twitch, and he couldn't get up. "Spearrr.." He murmered, afraid and paralysed. Well, that's what he got for trying to eat mushrooms. He should have never gont to the ground!

Sora almost felt sorry for the Spearow but Paras needed to level up. "OK Paras, keep using Scratch while it's paralyzed." she said. Paras obediently raised its pincers and started to bring them down, the first of many blows.

As the scratches hit their mark, Spearow felt his health slowly draining away, the successive cuts now appearing on his body taking their toll. In the end he could take it no longer and let the darkness claim him. His concious slipped to the unconcious and his eyelids slowly closed. The Spearow had fainted, exhausted. PARAS GAINS A LEVEL CAPTURE OR MOVE ON?

"Let's keep going Paras. I don't want such an ugly Pokemon. Good job by the way. I'm proud of you." said Sora gently as she bent down and stroked Paras' back. The small bug enjoyed the feel of her trainer's hand and closed her eyes as she was petted. "OK, let's get moving then." Sora said as she stood up. She walked forward slowly with Paras scurrying behind.

'Pii! Pii!' Came a faint sound. In the distance, a small flock of floating pink blobs were bouncing towards Sora, aided by the breeze. As they got nearer, it was clear that it was a group of three Hoppip that had been blown towards them by the wind. Co-incidentaly, the wind died down as they got nearer and the three pink Pokémon floated to the ground infront of Sora and paras. "Pii! Hop hop pii!" They cried, happily. They seemed a peacefull trio, in no mood to fight or be fought.

Sora stopped as the three Pokemon landed in front of her. Her eyes lit up as she looked at them. "Ooohh, they're so cute. What are you doing here little Hoppip?" she said as she picked one up and stroked it. Paras frowned at this and Sora noticed. "Oh don't worry Paras. You'll always be my favorite." she said. She put Hoppip down and picked Paras up again. "You're my Pokemon and I'll always love you".

"Piiip!" Squealed the Hoppip happily, as it was picked up by Sora, and again when it was placed down again. Suddenly, the wind picked up once more and the two Hoppip that had not been picked up drifted away again with the soothing breeze. But there was something wrong with the first one. It began to wail unhappily. The wind was angrily tugging at it's fragile body, but there was a protruding tree root where Sora had placed it, and it had trapped one of Hoppip's feet. It struggled and struggled, but try as it might it could not free it's trapped apendage. "Hoppiiiii!" It wailed.

Sora noticed Hoppip's squeals and when she turned to see what was wrong she spotted the root. "Oh I'm sorry. Are you alright?" she said worriedly as she put Paras down. This time Paras understood that Sora didn't care about Hoppip more than she cared about her. She was just kind.
Sora carefully untangled the leg from the root and held Hoppip up to examine it. "It looks OK. I think you're going to be fine." she said relievedly.

The Hoppip chattered happily and nuzzled Sora's face in gratitude. There was a small cut in the space between it's foot and it's body. Suddenly, the Hoppip closed it's eyes and began to hum quietly. Solar energy began to radiate around Hoppip and shiny orbs of light formed in the air, floating slowly towards the pink Grass Pokémon. Due to the sunny spring weather the orbs were especially large and almost instantly healed the cut. "Hoppip!" It squealed, hopping up onto Sora's head and gripping her hair, so that the wind couldn't blow him away. He evidently wanted to stay with sora, despite the fact that he had hardly any attacks.
HOPPIP WAS BEFRIENDED CAPTURE?

"Hmm. You want to come with me? Oh, you're so sweet," squealed Sora happily. "What do you say Paras? Do you want Hoppip to come with us,". Paras nodded eagerly. It would be nice to have a friend and now she wouldn't have to battle so much. Seeing her Pokemon nod, Sora reached down and grabbed a Pokeball. She held it out to hoppip with trembling hands and hoped it went in.

Willingly, Hoppip was absorbed into the red and white mettalic sphere, and without even wobbling it dinged and glowed red, the sign that it had been captured.
HOPPIP WAS CAPTURED. Hoppip ::hoppip:: Level: 5 Attacks: Splash, Synthesis Gender: You choose Personality: Carefree and freindly, goes wherever the wind blows, litteraly and metaphorically.
