Nightfall had descended upon the earth by the time pokemon trainer Jack Slater had reached the forest of Route Three. The boy stood before the great collection of plants, a chilling wind running through the long blades of grass surrounding him.
The large trees towered above, their thirsty branches reaching towards the clear black sky, stars above winking and teasing them. No path was set for those who wished to explore the depths of the dense wood, no merciful gap left between the tangles of limbs and leaves. Darkness clawed at every inch of the forest, an ominous sign that the empty plain just before the wood would be one's last peaceful stop until they were completely out of the enormous throng of exponentially thriving vegetation.
The wind combed through the large black mullet atop the trainer's head, gelled to maximum volume above his arched brown eyebrows. Steely blue eyes pierced through the night, retaining their bright color despite the dark surroundings. Not that the setting was dim; the accent of the dark sky and moonlight accentuated the green of the environment quite beautifully. The essence of the sun's burning rays that bounced off of the moon's reflective surface also touched Jack's face in such a way that it took away the almost sickly pale he normally contained, the dark circles around his eyes reduced somewhat. Billowing around his toned torso was a thin white shirt, two long tails flapping behind him noisily along with the hood. Small silvery buttons kept the top fastened around his chest. Hands were stuffed into warm black pockets of his dress pants, which clinked and jangled in the wind due to the multiple metal fastenings dappling the fabric.
Slater had returned all of his pokemon for now, including his rarely housed flaaffy, for he decided that they all needed some rest after the huge gym battle he had recently emerged from victoriously alongside his pokemon partner, Sekel.
Now here the teenager waited, examining the forest and relishing the open air for one last moment before they became confined within the dense throng of trees.

A slender figure kept in pace near the boy with the mullet, petite hands fiddling with the ribbons that held her blonde hair together. The night make her a little tense, but she surely didn't show it to Jack Slater the rockstar. She never showed weakness. Well, tried not to.
A sigh escaped from her slim lips, her loose hair in her braided bun flowed behind her as her black "school girl" shoes flattened the weeds and midnight dewed grass. It would be normally calming to others, but for Sekel it made her jumpy.
Her aquatic green eyes lowered to the ground to see the pale fur of her eevee, Satusuki, who elegantly took one paw at a time. Her neck glimmered as the moonlight beamed on it, showing the diamond neckless the fox-like pokemon just had to have. Then Sekel narrowed her eyes to Jack.
"When is the city?" She muttered, trying to not show her shaky voice. Indeed, the trainer was only afraid of one thing: Darkness.

As the girl's voice crashed through the silence, nonexistant debris flying every which way, Jack's steely eyes snapped back into focus, away from the realm of his deep thoughts. Sekel's words transferred through his brain, neurons hard at work converting electrical impulses to chemical reactions as he registered her question.
"I don't know," came Slater's quiet, deep voice; it was a bit cracky from the fact that he had not used it in a while. Slowly the rocker turned his mullet-topped head, face expressionless as his gaze landed on his female companion.
"Let's go," this time his voice was sly and inviting, his mouth curving into his trademark crooked grin upon his narrow face. With that, the boy turned his head back around to face the forest, and pushed himself through the initial barrier of trees.
Darkness plunged upon the trainer as he entered; this was not the darkness of the night, but a darkness like no other. Silence filled the environment up like water, plugging up every hole and crevice of Slater's body. It was as if a strong ocean current had suddenly pulled him under, crashing him into the sandy ground.

::shunt:: Sekel released a sigh once more, looking down at the ground as she examined nothing in particular. She had once heard if you counted silently to yourself and closed your eyes it would all go away. Or quicken up.
Her eyes shut, and she began counting to herself, 1..2...3..4..5.. She was almost to ten when Jack's voice cut her off. Damn him. She could have already been out of the forest.
"Let's go,"
She perked up, confused and all she spat out was, "Go wh-" but was cut off as his pace quickened. Sekel followed, fixing her ribbons once more out of boredom.

From behind a shadow began to form, it rushed toward Jack and Sekel as then you could see a figure on a pokemon. Jay had been on top of Metang who had been flying his way toward Sekel and Jack. "Thank god I finally found you!" he replied to them as he returned Kotestu as he smoothly continued to walk with the new formed group.

Jack pushed through the overgrown weeds and tremendous trees, hands pushing aside various vines and thin branches that dared stand in his way. He tried as best he could to keep his nice, clean dress shirt safe from harm, but failed almost straight away. There was no protecting your clothing in this forest. His pants were almost already torn to shreads, thorns and the like snagging into the fabric.
"Wonder if we'll see any pokemon.." He muttered, a quick glance up at the darkened heavens as he continued pushing through the shrubbery.
Just then, who should show up but Jay, the pokemon trainer dude!
Jack jumped as the boy appeared, his sudden presence surprising him.
"Jay! Wow.." Jack said as he regained his composure, running a hand through his black mullet. "Fancy seeing you here."

A purple figure lurked in the shadows of the forest. Gem-like eyes scanned the group of kids. Having a reputation for spooking, these kids would be like all the others. A wave of darkness filled the already dark air, an obvious night shade attack. It was aimed at the blonde. +Boo.+ The Sableye hissed with a deep tone.

Sekel turned to see the familiar face of the one known as Jay, whom she had spoken to earlier when she wandered off to train Satusuki.
Cold, blueish green eyes gazed at him as if to reproach him. Why would he interupt her and Jack's journey? But a thought struck her, a memory, and she groaned lightly under her breath.
She had allowed him to meet each other on route three. Well.. He was a good trainer, not to useless. Perhaps he might come in hand for battles. But her and Jack had always been a team.
"Hey.." Sekel murmured, narrowing her eyes slyly to her eevee who continued to preen herself continuously. Satsuki stopped soon enough as she noticed a glint in the darkness. It was Sableye.
And as it aimed a Night Shade attack at Sekel, she let out scream as pain wrenched through her slender frame. But she would not back down -- No, no she wouldn't.
"Satusuki, use Shadow ball!" She ordered, feeling weak. The eevee reluctantly eyed the gem-eyed pokemon and gracefully leaped afront of it. It's mouth opened, revealing dark energy that formed. With a strong push, the shadow ball aimed at the psychics pokemon.

Jack let himself become enveloped within the crushing darkness of Night Shade, eyes frantically jumping around to see the pokemon that had caused it. As Sekel's scream reached his ears, he looked over to her, quite surprised at her reaction. He found himself slipping a hand around her waist, just in case he was needed.
Jack also kept himself at the ready to bring one of his own pokemon out, just in case the sableye proved too much for Satusuki.

They gem like eyes sensed the attack. +Humans. So predictable.+ It growled. It leapt into another patch of darkness, and avoided the shadow ball attack. It quickly followed up with another night shade.

The eevee frowned as her attack was avoided, but elegantly also dodged the the night shade -- yet just barely.
"Satusuki, use another Shadow Ball! Lighter on your paws, use more agility and flexibility this time!" Sekel said, aggravated. But seriously, when was she not? She flattened her skirt, eyeing coldly at Satusuki as she prepared for the attack.
The vixen swiftly moved to the side and used another powerful black energy ball attack, it building up more powerful at the five seconds that it grow even larger and larger. With another thrust, it was sent violently at the Sableye.
"Eevee! Ev!" She said with a "hmpphh" sound, her diamond collar glinting.

The shadow like creature was blind sighted by the ever so familiar shadows, as a shadow ball was sent towards it. With a high pitched screech, it fell to the ground. +Hmph.+ It protested. IT quickly got to it's feet, using a leer, directly followed by a scratch attack.

Satusuki felt her defense decrease, making her not prepared for the following scratch attack aimed for her.
"Eeeevvvveee!" -Don't ruin my face! My beautiful face!- She cried, running the other directed. The rather lovely eevee turned around, still terrified for the sake of her own appearance. Sekel sighed, rolling her eyes. Vain eevee. She thought bitterly.
"Alright, use quick attack!" As the fierce words slipped roughly through her trainer's mouth, Satusuki began to race toward the purple, gem-eyed pokemon. She began to gain speed, barely seeing her surroundings since she was going so quick.

Jay cringed as he jumped into the forest hiding himself from the battle, if anything were to happen to him, Kotestu would be able to help in the battle.
Kotestu grunted once as their eyes never left the sight of Sekel. Jay had a brilliant idea as Jay returned Kotestu and let out Artemis.
The Umbreon shook her fur a bit as it used a Helping Hand on Satusuki.

The Pokémon cackled, allowing the normal-type attack to phase through it! It was impervious to normal types, even with Helping Hand! Snickering, it extended its claws and used Scratch on Eevee, seeing how Night Shade would have no effect.

But the eevee was not an eevee any more, but indeed a lithe espeon. It seemed it had evolved on another thread.
"Esss!" Satu hissed, two tipped tail swishing from left to right. Though she still had a even more graceful look as she dodged the attack.
"Satusuki, use shadow ball again!" The beautiful espeon stepped back, growing dark energy as once more she sent a huge Shadow ball at the ghost pokemon.

The shadow ball hit the sableye, sending it back into a tree. The newly evolved eevee, stats now increased, had almost caught the purple pokemon by surprise. Less then half of the HP of the pokemon was left, but it could last a few more turns. It replied with another scratch attack. It quickly swiped its claws vigorously at the purple feline.

The vain espeon frowned as the scary pokemon aimed another scratch attack at her. The claws raked against her pinkish purple fur. The helping hand the Umbreon had did helped her stats increase even more, there for Satusuki felt stronger then ever.
"Sand attack!" Sekel yelled, narrowing her eyes coldly. Satusuki turned around swiftly and, very gracefully she began kicking sand at the Sableye.
