Facing them was something he'd never wanted to do. They were tough, he was the first to admit that. In all the years he'd known them, he'd never known them to go easy on anybody, not even one of their own.
Hands jammed deeply into coat pockets, Syl strolled into the arena and pulled out a single pokeball. "Would one of you come out and battle me?" Thin lips twisted into a cruel smile - maybe they were afraid, like him.
After all, he was one of them. An elite. One of the most powerful trainers in the world.
Some said he hadn't earned his place. Some said he wasn't worthy. Some said he'd never collect all of the badges, and yet here he was, standing on the opposite end of the arena.
Now was his chance to prove them all wrong.

Blaze yawned a bit as he came out. It was finally his turn to battle against the challenger and he really didn't feel like it. It wasn't that he was afraid, but he just thought that he'd most likely get bored.
And then he saw the challenger.
Syl.
Perfect.
He was suddenly wide awake and ready to fight.
"So, we finaly meet on the battefield," said Blaze. Hell and Hades were let out as he asked, "You think you can beat me?"
Ryuuku was standing behind him, waiting for his turn. Blaze told him to be patient, and that if he didn't get the chance to fight, they'll go and beat up some other trainer later on.
"Challengers first."

Syl groaned. Of course it had to be him. Without a word, a pair of pokeballs were tossed onto the battlefield, spilling their contents. Blaze was a simple opponent, specializing in fire types. A perfect chance to take down his biggest rival.
Sticking with typical brute-force strategy, it was no surprise when a hefty Dragonite and sleek Kabutops emerged. The Kabutops flexed his muscles, displaying crimson-tinted scythes to both opponents. More subdued Dragonite merely folded her chubby arms across her chest, a habit clearly inherited from her trainer.
"Aqua Tail. Mud Shot." Apparently, he wasn't prepared to take things slow. Shaky hands withdrew a thin white cigarette, and quickly lit it. Smooth smoke was sharply inhaled. Noxious. Soothing.
Speedier Dragonite was first to act. Shooting her trainer a puzzled look, tiny wings propelled her forward, tail lashing violently at Hades.
Kabutops was a bit slower. Rock-armor weighing him down, a clumpy stream of mud was hurled in Hell's direction.

"Is that all you can do? Agility and Stomp!" Hades relaxed her muscles a bit as she used the attack. Just at the hard blow of the tail was about to hit, she darted away, lot faster than before. Stilll, not fast enough, her fur was dampened in certain places from her foe's attack and she didn't enjoy it too much. Bearing her fangs, she got ready for another attack. Knowing her trainer, it would most likely be either a Bite or a Fire Fang.
Hell had a bit more trouble with his attack. Just as he was about to leap up to use the stomp, the mud hit him in the chest. Grunting a bit, the mighty Entei didn't give in and closed in for the blow.

"Maybe." Syl spat. Golden eyes were focused on Scio, the Dragonite. Vicious Arcanine was ready to use her fangs. Maybe if she got close enough...
"Safeguard; Slash." A second wave of attacks were given, deviating from the intended plan only slightly. Stakku on offense, Scio on defense. Dragonite summoned a mystical power, protecting her from the likes of paralysis and burns, among other things.
Stakku reeled from the vicious stomp attack. Entei was considerably larger than him, and much angrier. Still, the very same clunky rock-armor that weighed him down also provided more than adequate defense from physical attacks. Kabutops wriggled out from under Hell, expertly slashing with razor-sharp scythes.
Syl pursed his lips. He was more nervous than he should have been, but then again... He was part of this 'team'. He knew they were ruthless. Being on the wrong end of them was never pretty.

Hell immediately reared back from the attacks, attempting to avoid them. However, at such close quarters, it was near impossible and two large gashes were dealt on the Entei. "Fireblast! Quick!" yelled Blaze. "Hades, Bite!" A large ball of fire was shot out of the legendary's mouth, soon branching out to form five branches, loosely spelling out "fire". The attack hurled over to the Kabutops and Blaze could only hope that it would work.
Hades leaped over to the Dragonite, ready to sink her fangs in the large dragon's flesh. With her boosted speed, thanks to the Agility, she looked like a streak of red, darting across the arena.
Blaze glanced over at Syl, smirking. No way his team would lose against some damn guy that looks like a girl.

Even with the dual-resistance to fire attacks, Kabutops faltered a bit, unstable from the vicious flames. His blackened body struggled into an upright position, scythes providing extra support for wobbly legs.
Although Syl hadn't specifically given any orders, Arcanine was closing in fast. She had to think on her feet. The insant fire-canine sank her teeth into her, a chubby hand balled tightly into a fist. Sparks flew, as she punched at Hades with all of her might. Scio might not have been an electric type, but her thunderpunch was honed to perfection.
"Aqua Jet." Scio fine for now, Syl shifted his attention to Kabutops. A rocky start, fitting for his challenge here.
Kabutops did his best to comply, shifting targets and loosing a steady stream of water at Hades. Hell would just have to wait.

Hell wouldn't take any of that. How could that slimy Kabutops just... take its attention off him and leave itself exposed? Almost insulted, and maybe a bit concerned about Hades, Hell jumped in the line of the water jet. Hades let go of her target as the Thunderpunch hit her squarely on the head. Just a bit dizzy, she surveyed her surroundings. The water was about to hit her when Hell blocked the attack. Worried, she switched targets as well, going around the Aqua Jet to use a Thunder Fang on the Kabutops.
Blaze purshed his lips a bit. The moment one of them got hurt, the other would always jump up to help. Instructions were barely needed now, but he still kept in eye out for anything that could happen. Hell was severely hurt by the attack, but still up for from down.
"Get out of the water and use an Ember on that dragon! Let Hades handle the Kabutops for now..."
The large canine pushed himself to the side to get out of the water. He almost regretted taking the attack for Hades, for his own energy was draining now...

Embers scorched Scio's feet. She shot Hell an annoyed glance, giant tail being slapped around wildly. Aqua Tail attacks abounded.
Thunderfang was probably the biggest surprise to Syl. He certainly hadn't planned on that. "Damn it!" He swore, taking a drag of his cigarette. "Slash! Hurt one of them."
Stakku was stunned. He shook his head violently from side to side, ignoring Syl's order and firing another stream of water at Hades. Kabutops leaned more heavily on his scythes, feeling a bit weak.
Syl swore again, withdrawing a third pokeball in case something happened to Kabutops.

"Hades, hang on!" cried Blaze as the Water Jet hit the Arcanine. Her fur, now wet, clung to her body and slowed her down a tad. "Bring it down with a bite. Hell, dodge that Aqua tail and use a fire spin to trap that dragon!"
His eyes darted from one pokemon to the other, wondering which one would faint first. Hopefully none of his...
Hades' attack was taking longer than expected as the water jet took down quite a chunck of her HP. She panted a bit, trying to regain a bit of strenght, before pouncing for the attack.
Hell had moved further back, ready to avoid the upcoming attack and readying one of his own. Fire swirled in his mouth, ready to be released at any second.

This was not going as planned. Golden eyes quickly scanned the situation, assessing damages on both sides. The totals in his head didn't equate to what he'd counted on.
Of course, what did he expect? To waltz in and beat them all into a bloody pulp? This was the big leagues, gone were the days of pathetic gym leaders with two or three pokemon. Five people now stood between him and victory.
With a sigh, Stakku was recalled. The poor Kabutops had reached his limit already. Although resistant to fire attacks, the ill-timed thunder fang had caught him off guard. Another pokeball was thrown, revealing an energetic tenticle monster...
...Actually it was a Cradily, but it could indeed inflict some pretty nasty things on innocent japanese schoolgirls. In any case, Taco's beady eyes flitted from Hades to Hell, before settling on her trainer. She would wait for an order.
Meanwhile, massive wall of fire swallowed Scio entirely, inflicting minimal damage from all sides. With a roar, she charged through the fire, taking more damage in the process.
"Dragon rush. Ancient power." Two offensive attacks were called out. Syl took a drag of his cigarette, before tossing it to the ground and crushing it with a heavy black boot.
Scio was first to act. Always swifter than her team-mates, bulky dragon used her tiny wings to propel her through the air at a massive speed, body glowing an eerie blue. Power of dragons from all generations flowed through her veins, burned in her mind and soul. She roared again, targeting Hell.
Much slower Cradily summoned similar strength. A mass of boulders dropped from the sky, seeming to appear out of thin air. Their target was Hades.

The attacks both hit their target, bringing them down. Blaze didn't think they'd fall this quickly, but it WAS another one of the elites that had come to challenge them...
"Hell, Hades, you did a good job. Ryuuku will finish the match."
The black dragon behind the trainer let out some smoke from his nostrils as it flew into the battlefield. Finally, it was his turn! He heard the command for a Dragon Claw on that dragon and he immediately flew over, ignoring the Cradily, a purplish aura around his claws.
Blaze let out a little grin. With Ryuuku on the field, nothing could stop him.

Syl glanced at the Charizard warily. He was quite acquainted with their power, owning one himself. He cringed as it's claws ripped through Scio, cleanly tearing through flesh.
It was the first major blow she'd been dealt. All of the others she could handle, but this left her breathless. There was but one option.
"Roost." The command was simple enough, but could she execute it? She'd never had to resort to a recovery tactic before.
She nodded, twisting her head around and burying it under her tiny wings. Precious HP was restored as her nap came to an end.
Satisfied she would be okay for the time being, Syl shifted his attention to the other battle participant. "Toxic."
Cradily was mostly there for defensive support. With a nod, a thick goop of acid was hurled at Charizard, highly noxious concoction poisonous to the touch.

"Don't let the attack get to you," said Blaze, knowing full well of its poisonous properties. But Ryuuku was far enough to avoid it, and as long as he didn't come too close, the Charizard should be fine...
"Smokescreen to cover up the area, and follow up with an Air Slash!"
Blaze eyed the arena as his pokemon send out thick streams of black smoke, making it harder and harder to discern the shapes. He saw the tip of his pokemon's tail as it dive in for the kill, ready to take away the precious HP that the dragonite had just regained.
Or at least Blaze hoped that that's what was going on...
This would probably be the last command from him before the smoke dissipated, for the trainer had no idea what was going on in there. Now, he just had to trust Ryuuku to end the match swiftly...

As Charizard drew near, visibility diminished. Scio looked around nervously, trying to determine which direction black-dragon was closing in from.
Suddenly, she felt it. Razor-sharp claws ripped into her left side. It had to be him. With a roar, another aqua-tail attack was launched, this time from close range. She was tired, and wanted this battle to be over already.
Hearing the commotion, Cradily peered around for any signs of a struggle. She was ready to use ancientpower, but was wary. Hitting Scio was not advised.
Syl slapped his forhead. "Damn it. Amnesia, Taco."
Hearing her name, the Cradily abandoned Plan A in favor of heightened special defense.

Blaze was a bit reassured as he heard the command given to that... thing. At least it isn't going to be a two-on-one battle yet. The trainer winced a bit as he heard the cry of his pokemon as he assumed the Charizard got hit. With what, he was't too sure, but he didn't think it was anything good.
Ryuuku was almost ashamed that it let out a cry. How could he show such weakness? But that attack hurt. A lot.
This time, as he came back for another attack, it was the power of the dragos that he wielded. He would show that Dragonite who was the stongest of the dragons...
He wouldn't be beat!
Ignoring his breath that was starting to become a bit ragged -the attack cut his wind off for a second there-, he moved in for the kill.

With a soft cry, Syl's second pokemon succumbed to the power of Blaze's specially trained team. Dragonite crumpled to the ground, totally wiped out.
"Damn it," Syl hissed, recalling Scio. A fourth pokeball was withdrawn, the last one he was allowed to use. It was a no-brainer. "Sen, help that Cradily!"
Through the thick cloud of smoke that still blanketed the arena, Emuritto could faintly make out the shape of her opponent. Or at least, what she thought was her opponent. Channeling feelings of anger from beloved trainer, Emuritto unleashed a thunderbolt attack from her tiny form.
Cradily, still stuck in place, was powerless to aide her new companion. She sighed to herself, roots intaking precious HP.

Although relieved that the dragonite was down, Blaze was know ignorant of what pokemon his opponent had put out.
"Ryuuku, concentrate your attacks on that plant," he yelled. His voice was drowned by the sound of a loud thunder attack. It was followed by a grunt from his pokemon, who plummeted to the ground. The large black dragon slammed onto the dusty arena, hurt from the rather effective thunder attack.
At least Blaze now knew where his pokemon was...
"Don't give up! Show them an ember!" he commanded.
The Charizard got back up with some difficulty, but still managed to take off once more. Blaze wasn't too sure how long he'd last, but long enough, he'd guess.
Balls of fire was unleashed on the Cradily, stuck to the ground.

"All right, we can see him now," Syl's voice was slow, steady. His words sounded like a foreign language to his ears, all jumbled and hastily strung together. It would hopefully be over soon. "Ancientpower, and thunderbolt! Offense go!"
Cradily's eyes snapped shut, rock-plant taking a fair amount of damage. Heightened special defense allowed her to endure the flames relatively unscathed. It would have been a lot worse if amnesia wasn't used. Her attention quickly switched to her own attack, absorbing energy from the ground and forming it into a powerful beam, fired at Charizard. Ancientpower was nothing to mess with.
Emuritto giggled at Ryuuku. Silly Charizard, he reminded her of Jin. And Jin was irrational and fairly idiotic. Maybe all Charizards were this way. Charging up a second bolt of electrical energy, it was released in her opponents direction. At least it was easier to see.

"Dodge it... dodge it! DODGE IT!" yelled Blaze, panicking. Those attacks would be fatal for his precious Charizard, and he couldn't afford to lose! Well, he could, but how would he look, getting beaten by that... girl?
Fortunately, one out of two attacks missed. The Thunderbolt did quite a bit of damage, but his dragon managed to dodge the ancientpower.
"Stay strong! I know you can do it! Use an Shadow Claw, and add a scary Face to that as well!" The trainer wasn't too sure if his command got through, for Ryuuku, seemed to be using quite a lot of energy just to stay concsious.
A few seconds later though, a terrifying face appeared on the Charizard as it moved in on the Cradily, a dark shadow starting to form around his claws.
