Spiro- such a fitting name held much promise, potential, and power, a calling to his future Rentorer, striking statically charged fear into any of his opponents, a destiny which appeared much too far away as his Spinx played with a useless pokedoll. The electric type was actually amused, twirling it between his tiny paws like a yarn ball, shaking it between his miniscule teeth, tail wagging despite a leer from his owner, arms folded crossly in disappointment. Training, he needed to grasp the point, or take a hint from the million times Matteo sighed noticeably. “Spiro, listen now!” he commanded one final time, voice raised, enough to capture his pokemon’s oblivious attention, eyes looking up innocently while he abandoned the toy, readily listening now. “You apparently require some work, go tackle that bush,” Matt said, gesturing towards the foliage. It took a minute to have Spiro register that, but once he did he charged head on, a squeaky battle cry emitted. Gosh, good thing no one saw this.

(( A little pointer-- put the link to your character's pokemon pc in your signature so that mods can easily get to it.. cuz sometimes they wanna. C; ))
An innocent, small little pokemon scurried into sight, large eyes blinking expectantly as it approached the trainer and pokemon. A thin tail curled into itself behind the pokemon, waggling to hopefully add to its cute factor; it wished to appeal to the human so that it would perhaps offer food of some sort.

Well, great, he gets some faultless rattata to train on. The opposition should be a slighted, purposeful objection, something to not make him feel guilty for after he beat that belittled challenger- if he won, that’s all he pathetically did, and on the rare chance he lost, that was utterly humiliating. He didn’t go much to cute, negligent teal eyes diverting their witness path to his eager-to-greet Spinx, an order towards battle sure to come to the pokemon’s dismay. “Spiro, end it quickly. Use spark,” he spoke demandingly, a flicker of emotion passing his features before disintegrating as his companion gazed back hesitantly, following through. Spiro charged forwards, electricity falling in surges across his body, taking on the newfound pokemon with endurance.

"RAAAATTAAATATAA.." The trusting and unexpecting pokemon screeched as the spark attack collided with its small form, sending painful electrical impulses throughout its quadriped body. It moaned as it lay on the ground, one eye shut tightly from the pain, its purple and white fur tarnished with blackened, burnt areas. Weakly, it waggled its tail, pathetically attempting a tail whip attack.

Wonderful situation here, was it not? Even worse, he used sarcasm, which possibly meant he did have a care towards that pathetic opponent, his youthful visage turned away from the site, waiting on Spiro’s finishing job, countenance blank. It was not like he would suddenly gain an undying compassion, wasting that former attack, and his wretched revival pack, this was merely business he attended to, “Again,” he said, brows furrowed. Hey, maybe the rattata would learn a skill by being beaten- yeah, that’s a sure fire positive to keep him going, intentions wavered, but unchanged. Spiro ran more at a tackling pose, the electrical current flowing as he went at another spark assault, less harsh than the last.

This second attack did it for the rather weak rattata; it flew through the air from the super-charged collision, landing in a disgruntled heap on the earthen floor. Spiro gains one level; if one were looking to capture the rattata, it'd be best to do so now.

All this experience seemed to be was simple spoken practice, bitter sweet satisfaction overtaking the swift victory, Matt's call retreating to another side of the route to get some more levels in, Spiro trailing behind, somber. He only wanted the best, and those nit-picky choices he made were in his ego's defense, since he believed that rattata would make a sorry rendition to his team. Please, it was not cold, now, was it? Maybe for Spiro, his stubby tail stopped in its almost constant wagging motion, steps bounceless. Ah, well, they'd move on.

"Frreeeerreeeeee!" Chirped a purple butterfly pokemon, small blue hands clutching its round chest as it soared above. Wings flapped magnificently, ebbing and flowing as large red eyes stared ahead towards the heavens.

Besides the butterfree flying overhead, one might also be able to spot the small yellow pokemon slowly inching across the way, large red nose obnoxious beneath its small eyes.

[Zomg, I just realized its Shinx not Spinx xP]
More great levelling oppertunities; Spiro would benevolently take them on aided by his trainer's persuit, first to head up that lucky Butterfree, surely to gain strength there, then maybe capture, though not his style and then send the other bug packing in a strategic manner. Matt wanted to get creative since coordinating contests' artistry interested him, his compulsive nature targeting the 'harder' in his paths before him to therefore earn more. Definitely the Butterfree. "Spiro, use charge. When you reach the butterfree, spark," he said, eyes directly facing the fluttering pokemon. The shinx looked daunted gazing at his chosen combatant, attempting to carry through orders, gaining momentum in his preparations to do a powered tackle.

The butterfree was too lost in its own thoughts to notice the oncoming opponent until the last moment, ergo unprepared for the onslaught of the shinx's chosen attack. (( Sorry if I'm godmoding a bit here by saying your pokemon already did spark- it's just easier this way so that we don't have to drag this out into 3-4 posts.. If you mind, I'll just edit this post. )) The lion-esque pokemon was able to fully collide with the butterfly, super-charged electrical surges zapping through the entirety of Butterfree's body. Due to its being unprepared, the pokemon suffered much damage and fell right out of the sky, plopping heavily onto the ground below. Down but not out, the pokemon lifted what now felt like heavy weights upon its wings, pushing itself off of the ground and into the air again; though it certainly wasn't as high as it was before. Its advanced red optics located the one who had attacked it, eyes enhancing its accuracy as it attempted to lock onto the blue and black pokemon. Without further ado, the butterfree waved its semi-charred wings at the foe, sending powerful confusion waves towards it.

Spiro descended the height it reached to attack the bug pokemon, landing with a jaunty leap below, pointing its keen gaze towards the area in which the opposition fell, but quickly recovered to retaliate a wave of confusion rays. The attack caused fair damage, although it did not achieve full immobilization in the electric type’s actions- it would probably take a second time to completely mix up the zeal filled thing, ready to parry the next blow. “Use bite on its wings,” Matteo commanded, getting into the battle, suspense lingering on whether he would be able to beat the pokemon, his expectations grueling to Spiro if he lost. Success in anything really drove Matt, and he cleaved that in desperation, determination to prove to those no longer there, or even himself. Spiro ran ahead, bolting into the air, intentions set on sinking its teeth into the current one’s weakness, the wings.

Flying upwards with desperation, Butterfree struggled to dodge but managed to do so. After this, however, it slinked down, still unable to fly at a safe distance from its foe. Looking panicky, it wasn't sure what to do. It shot a String Shot indecisively at the Shinx. The attack was quite low on power, and it was easy to sense the Butterfree's fear. Weedle, on the other hand, inched closer and inspected the Shinx naively.

With the newest addition to the team, Matteo figured he should use the Natu’s abilities for good, releasing him out of the pokeball in a maroon flash, the bird type flying out gaudily, Matt deciphering now how to take on the double battle, his gaze switching from the Butterfree to the Weedle. Merely appointing his acknowledgement to the Natu, in the weedle’s direction, he dove forwards for an aerial peck attack, sure to distract away from the preparing Shinx. Butterfree dodging the bite assault put a dent in, but did not stop Spiro in his streak, a yelp escaping him as the wobbly string shot encased his little body, sparks breaking the hold on him and re-aimed at his enemy in the electrically charged tackle.

Weedle's eyes widened as the Peck attack closed in on it. Like a base being bombed at, it tried to shoot back. Flipping its body into a c-shape, it fired continuous rounds of Poison Sting. It didn't last long, however, as it was knocked down. A super effective hit!
Butterfree, fairing a little bit better, caught the electric Tackle right where it wanted to see it and fired a simultaneous Confusion attack. Surely they'd clash, but if it cancelled out the damage, then it wouldn't matter so much.

Naru remained the stalwart attack, speeding downwards straight at the weedle, air rushing past him in his constant, controlled motion, zipping past the few little poison stings that barely grazed his side for the saturating peck. Indefinitely, the assault was affective due to typing advantages- the Natu flapping his wings in pride, preparing the same edgy bombardment on his trainer’s command. Matt’s main focus was not on the other battle, he nodded quickly to tell Natu to presume the same strategy before looking back on his Shinx, who had taken on the confusion’s diffused power. Static bounced from him as he fell to the ground, gaining some recovery in his paws countering earth first, a growl released once he realized his attempt caused no mutual damage. Unfortunately, Spiro beheld no way getting around butterfree’s confusion, all his strikes happened to only work upon contact, and so they would have to beat out the confusion’s strength via charging up, quick to gather energy up. After that, Spiro lunged once more at the bug pokemon in a vigorous static tackle.

After this last peck, the rather weak weedle gave up, slumping on the ground in an unconcious pile. Natu gains one level, and weedle is now up for capture.
Spiro was able to collide with the flying pokemon, the butterfree not having been given enough time to prepare a counter attack or to dodge. The purple pokemon fell to the ground, emitting a small meep as it felt near the last of its strength waste away. The butterfree struggled to get back into the air; it took a lot of will power to get its wings flapping. Weakly, it sent a string shot at Spiro, hoping to win enough time to recooperate somewhat.

As the string shot intended to do, it reduced Spiro’s speed, ultimately contributing to the strength of the attack- that is, a capable retaliation after clumsily bouncing around in its silk encasement, breaking free with a triumphant meow. Matteo became curious as to how much damage bite would do, and to mix it up, decided it could not really hurt, the battle hopefully coming to a close, “Alright, Spiro. Try getting it to the ground, use bite,” he instructed. Hmm, once this was over he would probably take a break, maybe do something to rest his pokemon’s energy. Yet again the shinx jumped forth to the opponent’s lowered height, teeth bared to get at the wings, the slight upper hand in their situation having Spiro tire of leaping into the air.

Once the butterfree realized what the frusterating opponent had in store for it, it hastily tried to zip out of range, but failed miserably. The shinx's teeth sunk into the wings, tearing through their delicate white material. The butterfree was quickly apprehended, the yank on its wings immediately causing it to fall to the ground, limp and forelorn. With one last, "Eeee..." the butterfree fell completely unconcious, leading to Spiro's gain of one level and the opportunity for the butterfree to be caught.

Having the Butterfree up for capture, Matteo swiftly rummaged through his starter pack, pulling out the pokeball with significant appreciation- the first pokemon he would officially catch, its whole theme was one of memorable, honoring extents. Go out in style, be proud to say you earned the companion in a felt battle. He dangled the red and white device in his hands, before tossing it forth at the fainted being, teal eyes wistfully searching the result to see if a first attempt worked. Meanwhile, Spiro also examined on hand, satisfied in his won combat.

Once the pokeball had consumed its entire being, the butterfree struggled somewhat to free itself within its mysterious confines.
One twitch followed by an odd pokeball noise...
Two twitch...
Threeee...
Butterfree was captured!
