Matteo sighed, dumping his pack on the ground, resting his back against a tree trunk, hands behind his head, allowing his pokemon to regain their energy somewhat for the path obstruction to come, releasing his newly captured Butterfree. He reviewed their names: Spiro, Naru, and Takara, all humble members of his team, lazing about the frontier, his shinx needing it most after the recent opponents’ vigorous force, a yawn escaping the electric type. Eh, who knew, maybe he would find another way to get a pokemon through befriending them, an unusual dealing indeed, or a trainer to battle, possibilities here were endless, he just should wait to see what happens. He had to admit he was tired too. I mean, he never had talked so much in a short time.

"Oh, what nice pokemon!" Came the voice of a presumably young girl as she walked slightly pigeon-toed towards the small throng, unkept brown hair falling to just below her tiny shoulderblades. She held a fist up to her hand in a "cute" way, giggling in her blue, red, and white school girl outfit.

Matteo had been closing his eyes- a very short reverie, if you will- letting his small congregational party nose around the area, Spiro's attention immediatly caught at the young girl. He hopped over, his squeaky meow revelating his trainer's conscious into what happened to be then, perhaps an opponent? Naru descended to the ground, much too weary to settle himself upon Matt's shoulder for fear of rejection, soft feathers ruffled and poofed out. The youth gestured his head to his pokemon, hair flicked in the process, "So, here to battle then?" he wondered presupposedly, looking forward to his first real one-on-one. Of course, she could have different reasons, but how should he know, he thought a journey was standardly set like this.

"Oh, sure!" The girl said, nodding. "I'd love to! Then you can meet MY cute pokemon!" She giggled, before grabbing one of the pokeballs lined on a thin belt on her red skirt. "Goo, Kai! Ah-hah!" She threw the pokeball forward dramatically, performing a one-legged twirl, skirt hugging her thin thighs.
The pokeball burst open in midair, releasing a small eevee. "Eeeveeee!" It exclaimed with a smile, awaiting orders.

Judging as all great, shallow trainers did by a critical examination of appearance, he guessed the ideal eevee was around Naru's level, a fortunate development for Spiro or Takara having them battle; but both needed to recooperate their shrinking energy, which left his Natu now. He motioned the bird pokemon forwards, the curious young thing tottering onto a makeshift dirt battlefield, ruffling his feathers readily. "I'll make the first move, Naru, fly up then use peck," Matteo ordered in defense, hoping his team's aerial influence would take the upper hand against her eevee. Naru complied, darting into the air to dive back down in a powerful swirl, aiming his beak at the opposition.

"Oh, no!" The girl gasped, holding the standard school girl pose as her eyes watched the Natu, quickly falling to view her own eevee. "Kai, sand attack!" She gasped in desperation.
The small brown fox pokemon looked up at the oncoming bird, frightened, and was unable to execute sand attack before the opponent fully collided with peck. "VEEEE!" The minute eevee screamed as her legs gave out beneath her, the peck causing her to fly backward. "Vee..." She exhaled, getting back to her feet; she was significantly damaged, but still in the game. From where she was, Kai initiated sand attack, kicking up the dirt with her small paws.

From the peck attack Naru glided inches above the ground to angle back upwards in an effortless, austere motion, but before he reached the atmosphere's hype a flurry of earth wrecked his pattern, officially reducing his accuracy. It became a likely possibility his next attempt at peck would fail, and so Matteo instructed his pokemon to lower the eevee's defense with leer, his natu's intent, glaring eyes hoping to frighten her in a short distance on land instead of air.

"Vee!" The small eevee whimpered, eyes large and indeed intimidated by her opponent's leer.
"Oh, Eevee!" The girl cried, worried about her pokemon's well-being. "Let's do a cute attack! Growl!" She said, thrusting an arm enthusiastically at the green natu.
The eevee puffed out her furry white chest, opening her small mouth to emit a high-pitched, rumbling noise.

Wow, you'd think one of those jaunty, exaggerated stylistic actions would've made an unpleasant impression upon Matteo- perhaps it was just his unperturbed, nice mood that spared any critical looks, expression quite solid on the battle. "Naru, use another peck," he said, definitely not willing to let the eevee's defensive tactics weaken his pokemon's attack further. Instead of executing it from the air, the Natu took off a very tiny distance above ground to reassure a hit target, navigating a straight, speedy path at the eevee.

"Veeee!" The petite, young thing cried, falling back as the peck collided with her delicate body. Upon making contact with the ground, the eevee had fainted.
"Oh, come back, Kai!" The girl trainer exclaimed in a whiney voice, retrieving the pokemon's pokeball and returning her. She remorsefully latched the pokeball onto her belt, taking the only other pokeball that had kept previously said one company. "Come on out, Totodile!" She exclaimed, performing the same stunt as before with the twirl and throwing forward of the spinning round device. A small blue alligator popped out, smiling with an open mouth, displaying jagged rows of teeth. "Dile!" It declared upon its release, watching the opponent with interest.

Lucky shot, eh? Matteo praised his pokemon's success with the most obscure, proud grin, his fist barely raised then brought down in a signature 'yes' motion, searching Naru's appearance for any signs of weariness. He was tired, and it seemed as though he would not last, recalling the drained bird from the field to have Spiro take his place. The shinx had recovered a bit, probably not as energetic as the totodile, but Matt hoped the major electric advantage would overtake the Totodile quickly. In the moment being though, they would have to wait on the trainer's moves, seeing as Spiro surely couldn't dodge now, only defend. Spiro realized his situation, intimidation traces scarce to the mentality of the game, his wellbeing at the assault's mercy, tail wagging side to side.

"Ich, scratch attack! Careful though!" The trainer called, wide eyes on her dear pokemon.
Toothy smile widening, the totodile jumped jovially at the shinx, claws bared for a scratch attack.

An attack requiring physical contact was exactly what Matteo wanted to transpire; a devious grin crossed his roguish, light features, teal optics expressing more than his countenance as they followed the Totodile in their amateur little duel. Spiro caught onto the hints, after the intitiative scratch assault hit its mark, the pokemon squinting in displeasure, he comitted a sharp spark.

Totodile lept up as painful electricity shot through its small frame. It flailed a little bit, but countered with a powerful Rage attack. It wasn't going to last much longer at this rate...at all.
"Ich!" the trainer cried.
