Thin fingers traced the injury deftly. Peering into a compact, Syl made a face. A long scratch stretched the length of his face, beginning under his right eye and stopping just above his chin. The odd part was he hadn't a clue how it got there.
Grumbling, he scooped scraggly strands of crimson hair into his fist, tying annoying locks securely back with a trusty rubber band. From his seated position on the ground, he stared at the darkened sky. ... or what he thought was the sky. It seemed he was in a cave of some sort.
"I must have fallen through the roof." Tiny spots of light filtered down from high above. "... hence the scratch."
He sighed, clamoring to his feet... and falling right back down again. A twisted ankle is no good in a cave filled with wild pokemon. With a groan of discontent, trainer hastily released a pokemon from one of the many orbs on his belt.
[You needed me?] Psychic feline stared disdainfully at her trainer.
"Shut up and keep watch." He growled at the Emuritto. Crossing her arms, the pokemon hovered above Syl, still struggling to stand.

As expected, the route lived up to its name. Filled with all sorts of sinister creatures, from dark types to ghost types, it was considering a good thing that one would have to cross it late in their journey. After all, trespassers had to be prepared. A large shadow loomed over, casting a shadow over Syl...

Cowardly Emuritto hovered behind her trainer, fearful of the shadow.
With a growl, a pokeball was hastily thrown. "Flamethrower. And don't waste any time."
The Charizard that emerged obeyed, more afraid of disobeying his trainer than the unknown lurking beyond the shadow.

OOC: Wow, my writing was terrible in the last post. Apologies xDDDD
By the time the attack had been ordered, the shadow had gone. Instead, it appeared somewhere else: a few meters infront of Syl. It shifted a bit, and a loud cackle emitted from it. This was no doubt some kind of ghost Pokémon.

Shining Charizard looked genuinely confused. He whirled around, embers still burning from previous flamethrower alighting on the ground before slowly flickering out.
Awkwardly shifting to the side, equally confused trainer issued another set of orders. "Light up the cave, you idiot. Find out what's causing the shadow..."
[It's something scary...] Emuritto clamped tightly onto Syl's thin shoulders.

The sinister being cackled again. This time, however, it finally made its appearance. Apparating from behind, it prodded the worried-looking Emuritto on Syl's shoulders.
"BANETTE!" it screeched in attempts to frighten the little psychic Pokémon. Flailing its arms as it casted a large shadow again, it looked quite menacing for a tiny puppet-like creature.

[OHGODOHGODITSGOTMEHELP!] Terrified psychic feline flailed around, slapping her annoyed trainer in the face several times with her tails. In a final act of desperation, a psychic barrier was thrust between Sen and her attacker, sheilding the cowardly Emuritto from a barrage of attacks.
"Useless," Injured and tired, Syl sighed at his pokemon. "Can't even hurt a sorry little Banette. I oughta dump both of you off on some newbie trainer, since you're both totally worthless."
Jin stiffened, hurt by his trainer's comments. With a roar, he took to the air, speeding passsed Sen and her sheild. For the third time, flames poured from his jaws.

"Ban!" the ghost Pokémon exclaimed, 'All right!'
Spinning around, it used Shadow Ball, intended to collide with its fiery foe's attack. Snickering, Banette seemed to find this somehow amusing. It liked to piss people off, but was a pretty good battler...apparently.

Dark energy sailed through the flames, effectively slicing thin ribbon into two. Jin never saw it coming. Massive orb collided with his stomach, sending him sprawling backwards into the cavern wall.
Syl actually laughed. "Haha, if this thing is actually going to kick your ass, I just might catch it and bump you off the team."
From the safety of her shield, Sen glared at her insensitive trainer. [Don't be an asshole.]
He waved a hand, dismissing the psychic-type's comment. "That's like asking the pope not to be catholic."
Grunting, Jin struggled to his feet. The hit had knocked him out of the air. Steaming dragon flexed his wings, lifting off the ground. Razor-sharp claws extended, radiating dark energy. Jin lunged forward, swiping at Banette several times.
[ooc //attack is called shadow claw XD. I've yet to see it in the games since D/P aren't out yet but I assume it goes something like that. just fyi]

OOC: S'all good ^^ Haha, I love Syl's thinking. He's so great xD
The Banette managed to dodge the first few swipes, but was caught on the last one. It was pushed back a little and wasn't surprised that it had been an effective attack. It was a ghost move, after all. Shaking its head, Banette sighed in disappointment. It looked bored at this point. Snickering, it used Faint Attack, a move it knew that couldn't miss.

Bulky dragon blinked. Banette had apparently vanished. Jin looked from side to side, whirling around several times in his efforts to sniff out the terribly strong ghost-type.
Meanwhile, Syl slumped into a seated position, opting to rub his injured ankle in lieu of watching the battle. Sen was silent. Crossed arms and lashing tails were indicative of the Emuritto's foul mood. Protect finally fading, one of her thin, whip-like tails grazed her trainer across the face.
He didn't even look up, but an annoyed grin tugged at the corners of his lips. "I oughta get rid of you, too. I'm sure some collector would love to put you in a pokeball and keep you on a shelf. Or you could be with some screaming brat, tugging at your tails nonstop. Yeah, that would be a fitting punishment for a stupid pokemon like you." Harsh, teasing words were mostly empty threats. Mostly.
Shining Charizard was distracted by the comments. When Banette finally reappeared directly to the left and ripped into his flesh, it was a complete surprise. He roared in pain, firing off a powerful flamethrower in the direction of the attack. Banette was close. He could feel it this time.

Caught a little off-guard, Banette was sent backwards. Cringing, the massive flames singed its body. Brushing off its dangly arms, Banette smiled.
"Ban, Banette" it complimented as it shook its joints, 'Much better'
Pausing for a moment, Banette's mouth opened suddenly. Releasing a huge gust of air, a terrible cry escaped its mouth. It was a particularily nasty Screech attack, aimed at severely lowering Charizard's defences: the ghost Pokémon was smart enough to prepare. Banette knew that Shadow Claw and Flamethrower were its two main worries. They hurt. And they weren't fun.
After using Screech, Banette followed up with Shadow Strike, a very fast attack that was similar to its normal type counterpart, Quick Attack.

Frightened, Sen ducked behind irresponsible trainer, still fiddling with his foot. The eerie sounds radiating from Banette sent a shiver up her spine, and the fearful Emuritto wanted no part of it.
Jin cringed. Eyes squeezed shut, trying to concentrate on something other than the screeching sound. When it failed to work, he awkwardly rushed forward toward the sound, striking wildly with his wings.
Trainer smirked. "Fool."

Banette snickered, allowing the wings to pass through its transparent body. Unless this became a planned Wing Attack, it simply had no effect. Sneering, Banette used Knock Off. It just wanted to see the bumbling Charizard fall, which was perhaps a little careless considering its enemy was practically defenseless at this point.

As expected, Jin fell. Clumsy pokemon crashed into a rock, knocking himself unconscious.
"Tsk, tsk." Syl shook his head. Leaving the Charizard where he fell, another pokeball was hastily thrown. "Finish the job, Kei." For the first time in awhile, trainer looked up from his foot, golden eyes scanning the situation.
Gazing at her fallen partner, Umbreon idly wondered if this would be the last time she'd see him. With no tolerance for losers, Syl would probably leave him here, passed out in a pool of crimson. Blood gushed from a gash on Jin's stomach. He wouldn't last long.
Shaking the horrid thoughts out of her mind, Kei focused on the task at hand. With a growl, blue-ringed feline disappeared into thin air, only to reappear at Banette's side moments later, glowing with dark energy. Faint-Attack was sure to hit without fail.

With a sudden Faint Attack, Banette was sent flying. Such power! A super effective dark-type move was powerful in this situation. Figuring that it wouldn't take much more to do it in, Banette used a cleverly timed Destiny Bond. A duo of circular shadows were aimed to intertwine the fates of both Pokémon. Banette cackled.
"Ban, Banette Ban" it cooed, 'You're going down with me if I fall'

Umbreon glared. To hell with it all. With a last sideways glance at Jin and her irresponsible trainer, she vanished once more.
Eyes glowing an eerie yellow, she reappeared, sinking her teeth into clever ghost-type for a repeat performance. Kei cringed, suddenly feeling very lightheaded. Destiny Bond gripped her tight.

After being hit with a couple of effective hits from Charizard and two super-effective, non-dodgable moves, Banette crumpled on the floor. Its body lost all of its transparency as it became opaque. Sighing, it grinned.
"Ban Banette" it said, on the ground, laughing, 'Good job, you gave me a run'
Banette was finished at this point and fell unconscious on the ground. Destiny Bond took effect as the Pokémon fainted. Smiling in its slumber, it appeared this had actually been fulfilling for the prankster.
Banette fainted! All participating Pokémon gain 1/2 a level (I think) Do you try to catch it or leave it be?

Without a word, trained tossed an ultraball at Banette. Two more orbs were retrieved, as the unconscious Kei and Jin were silently returned despite their failures.
A small smile lit up observant Emuritto's delicate features. Sen landed on Syl's shoulder, silently thanking him for not abandoning his pokemon.

Considering Banette was right out, it didn't have much of a chance at resisting something like an Ultra Ball. Despite this, the sphere rocked several times before finally coming to a halt. You caught Banette!Banette Gender: Male Level: 42 Nature: Impish Attacks: Destiny Bond, Faint Attack, Shadow Ball, Night Shade, Screech, Shadow Strike.
