Of course, Pochama had no possible way to get away from the Scratch attack. Would she be able to fight back at all or was she completely paralyzed? Beth took off her backpack and started looking through it. Unfortunately, she had nothing that would cure paralysis. It would be best to just end the battle now, and return her Pokemon... She took Pochama's Pokeball in her hand and held it up, but she noticed that a droplet of water landed on the red and white ball. As she looked up, there was more and more water dropping. Just as she expected, the rain was coming... and not a moment too soon. The rain was getting heavier, and it drenched the girl and her Pokemon... But now, Beth found that maybe she didn't have to run from the battle. The rain was washing away the Stun Spore, not completely, but enough to lower the effects a bit. Pochama slowly got back on her feet. "Pochama, you okay now?" the trainer asked, and the Pokemon nodded. "Good. Now, use Pound attack." Pochama ran at the Paras and lashed out with a Pound attack, the strongest move she'd done yet. Perhaps she was getting the hang of this.

The Pound landed with a critical hit, and the Paras flew backwards on its back, the wind knocked out of it. Weakly, it attempted a Sleep Powder.

"Pochama, try to dodge it!" Beth said, as she took a Pokeball in her hand. While she knew it was easier to catch a Pokemon by making it faint, perhaps the Paras was weak enough by now that it wouldn't be able to escape the Pokeball. She tossed it at the wild Pokemon. Pochama wasn't quick enough to evade the attack, and she fell asleep. If Beth's plan didn't work, then she might just have to return Pochama and flee the battle...

The dripping rain was really starting to get to the paras. "Par!" <Ugh!> It cried in disgust, running under a leaf. It shivered from the cold, and finally just turned frozen.
Then the ball reached it, and it was sucked inside like a piece of dust into a vacuum cleaner. The ball rolled once, twice, but the Paras came out, still frozen.

Obviously, the Paras wasn't going anywhere. Beth took Pochama in her arms and attempted to wake the sleeping Pokemon. When the little bird awoke, she hopped down and looked up at her trainer, waiting for the next command. She was told to use Pound, and Pochama walked up to the frozen Paras. Pochama refused to attack. That's not fair... she can't fight back. Beth shrugged. The Pochama just didn't get it.

The paras didn't seem to move, as if it was waiting for the penguin to hit it. The ice was melting slowly off of one of it's claws, and as soon as it could move it's claws freely, it attacked the Pochama with a scratch.

Pochama was lucky enough to dodge that time. Beth sighed. "Now, will you use Pound attack, Pochama?" The Pokemon glanced at her trainer, then went after Paras with a Pound attack.

The paras couldn't dodge this one, and winced as the penguin pounded at it. It was depleted of it's health, and fainted by collapsing on the fresh-wetted mud. The rain continued to keep dropping non-stop.
All participating pokemon under lvl 20 gain 1 lvl! If not, 1/2 a lvl.
Attempt a capture or Move on?

The Pound hit one of its 'shrooms, making it unable to use anymore statues inflicting powders. Instead, it tried another (and weaker) scratch.

Pochama ran back to Beth and jumped into her arms. "You did good, Pochama," the girl said. She took a Pokeball in her hand and tossed it, attempting to catch the Paras a second time. Now, it should be easier since the wild Pokemon had fainted.

The bug pokemon was sucked in. However, just after a few rolls of the pokeball, it popped back out.
"Par, paras, par ras paras. Paras, par par, paras. Paras ras paras par, par paras." <Sometimes, pokemon escape the pokeball. But most of the time, they're very weak. You have another chance to catch them when you beat them again.>
After it's delightful little speech, it raced at the Pochama with another scratch.

(It can still come back out! It just normally only takes one more hit! And then can be caught the second time!)

Pochama was hit again by the Paras's scratch attack, and she fought back with a Pound. "You've almost won, Pochama.. It's really weak now."

The Paras took the one last hit, before fainting again.
(Do you catch it?)

Once again, Beth threw a Pokeball. Since this was the second time it fainted, (which is impossible, by the way, without it having a revive) she figured that it wouldn't escape again.

The sky grew darker and the rain started pouring harder and harder. Soon, it was difficult to even see the path ahead, so Beth decided to stop traveling for a while. Finding a group of a few trees close by, the trainer and her Pochama ran to them for shelter from the storm. Pochama climbed into Beth's backpack and she climbed onto a branch in the tree, where the thick leaves provided some shelter from the wind and swiftly falling rain. Judging by how dark the sky was all around, it would be quite a long while before the storm was over.
