Jay was breathless as she stumbled into the gym. She gazed around her at all the tall statues and other trainers waiting in line for their turn to battle. Padding along beside her was Nero, her newly-evolved Quilava.
After about an hour of waiting and twirling her hair, she made a face. "What the heck is taking so long... All I want is to battle with the gym leader..."

The girl trainer blinked, running a hand through her long hair. If she was ever going to move to the next town, she would HAVE to win a badge here.
Nero was beside her, gently grooming his paw. As anxious as he was to have his first 2-on-2 battle, he was primarily concerned with how he looked. When he won, he didn't want to look shabby.
(OOC - why in blazes is nobody replying to ANY of the gym threads...? *glances at the "0" replies threads in this category that have been there for days* Err... I think we need more mods that are willing to play parts -other- than their characters... more wild-pokemon, more people willing to be gym leaders... *sigh*)

((OOC - Okay then... -_-; Looks like I'm going to have to do this the hard way.))
Haru blinked at the girl. "Don't be so impatient," he scolded gently, pulling out the pokeballs containing his trusty Plusle and Minun. "A battle it is you want? I assume 2 on 2 is okay with you..."
Jaymie nodded her ebony-haired head. The yellow-haired gym leader flashed a confident smile, and released Ready and Go onto the battlefield.
"Plusle... and Minun?" She blinked, rethinking her original strategy. Her gaze shifted to Nero, who was already igniting the flames on his back. "Er, you might wanna throw some water on that, Ner." She told the quilava. "I'm going with Kaight and Kasis for this battle."
The Quilava glared daggers at his trainer, but slunk to her side and sat down on the ground, ready to observe the battle.
Reaching into her bag, Jay quickly found Kaight and Kasis's pokeballs, and tossed them onto the battlefield. In a flicker of red light, a tough-looking Eevee and a friendly Dratini were ready to battle.
Haru didn't waste any time. "Ready, use thunderwave!" His gaze shifted to the Minun. "Go, use quick attack!"
Sparks flew from the plusle's cheeks, and zapped the dratini into paralysis. Kasis screeched in pain, trying desperately to regain his mobility. Jaymie bit her lip; she was going to need Kasis during this battle, and if he was immobile... Meanwhile, the blue-mouse pokemon raced towards Kaight at top-speed.
"Kaight dodge it!" Jay cried, but it was too late. The Eevee had taken the full attack, right to the stomach. She glared at the Plusle, ready to do anything Jaymie asked her to do. "Kaight, use tackle! Kas... Try a thunderwave yourself!"
The dratini's eyes glowed yellow, and tiny electic waves encircled the Plusle. It too was sticken with paralysis. Go cried out for his partner, and rushed to her side. While he was busy with her, Kaight slammed into him, head-first, for a devestating tackle attack.

Jay beamed at her pokemon. "That's the way guys!"
Haru only smiled. "Ready, Go, use double quick attack!"
The black-haired trainer blinked. Doubel quick attack? What the heck was that? "Kaight, get out of there!"
The eevee nodded, and bounded back to her paralyzed partner. Kasis didn't look so good, and was drooping nearer and nearer to the ground with every passing moment, earning a grimace from his trainer. "I hope he can make it..." She whispered to Nero, who only glared.
Ready and Go darted back and forth across the battlefield, racing towards their opponents at top speed. They were impossible to follow, and it was impossible to predict where they'd strike. Jay gasped in awe of the two pokemon's ability to work together as a team.
"Miiinun!" Go cried, tackling Kasis with all of his might. A second later, Ready lagged behind, still suffering from the paralysis. The light-blue dragon pokemon saw this one coming, and managed to dodge Ready's attack. This sent her crashing into the ground for a KO. Go was infuriated, and without waiting for an order from his trainer, gave the Dratini a quick jolt of electricity, effectively KOing him as well.
Jaymie's sigh matched Haru's, as they recalled their Dratini and Plusle repectively. Haru's ocean-blue eyes danced with excitement. "You're not bad, not bad at all." He said cooly. "But the battle isn't over yet. Go, use thunderwave on the Eevee, just like before!"
"Oh no you don't! Kaight, double team!"
The eevee nodded. She began running, faster and faster in a circle around Go, effectively multiplying herself. The blue-mouse pokemon's cheeks sparked again, but he was disoriented. He fired round after round of paralyzing electricity, but was unable to hit the correct Kaight. It was now Haru's turn to grimace.
"Now Kaight, use tackle!" Jaymie called, pumping a violet-gloved fist into the air. The false-eevees dissappeared, as the real one attacked from the left of Go. She tackled him hard, driving the mouse pokemon into the ground and landing on top of him. They glared at each other, each fighting for their fallen partner.
"Go now's the chance!" Haru yelled. "Use thunderwave!"
The mouse-pokemon nodded. "Miiiiiii!" He screeched, but no sparks came out. Jaymie grinned.
"He used up so much electricity earlier trying to hit Kaight, that he doesn't have any left." The dark-haired trainer giggled. From his place beside her feet, Nero glanced lazily at the battlefield, still miffed that he wasn't the one out there battling.
Haru's smile quickly faded. "I see.. Well, we don't need electricity for a quick attack!"
"And we don't need ANYTHING for a tackle! Kaight tackle!"
Kaight leapt off of Go, and the two pokemon faced off. Their glares were evenly matched. Panting heavily, they both took off straight for each other, colliding in the middle. Both scambled to their feet, and eyed each other.
Time seemed to stand still, as the two pokemon sized each other up. Kaight's fur was matted and tangled from the fight, and both of the Minun's ears drooped.
Finally, after what seemed like an eternity, Go collapsed. Haru gasped.
"Impossible... Simply impossible..." He could barely speak, as he grudgingly recalled his pokemon.
Satisfied that her job was over, Kaight allowed herself to be sucked into the comforting red-light of the pokeball without a fight.
Jaymie strode over to the dumbfounded gymleader, and held out her hand to receive her badge. "I believe I won, fair and square." She beamed.
Glaring, he thrust it into her open palm. "Get the hell out of my gym."
