It was a beautiful day. The sun was shining, and the pidgeys chirped in harmony with the spearows, who tended to their nests in a motherly way. Critters along the ground retreated to their homes when a figure came along, walking on the road with no cares at all.
"The lab is boring... doctors are mean..." Ribi didn't seem to remember that doctors worked in hospitals and not in labs. Perhaps it was because she was thinking about the whole incident, the one where she had lost all her friends in a gun-shooting accident. But she put that behind her as she walked forward to her destiny.
Her pupils took a glance at what seemed to be a very old building that had the title: "P O K ' E M O N L A B". It looked boring. Who wanted to get the same pokemon every trip, eh? She looked around for somewhere else where she could obtain her first pokemon, and her eyes fell upon a wide amount of tall grass, where the top ruffled as various pokemon explored through it. In front of the whole thing was a small building with a ranger and a linoone standing and waiting for someone to come by.
Ribi knew that this was the alternative for people who wanted a random chance to get a pokemon. Wordlessly, she fast-walked down to the Patch of Tall Grass, ready to get her first pokemon.

The ranger was a middle-aged man, clad in a jade-hued uniform, oversized khaki trousers, and a crimson bandana 'round his neck set at a decidedly jaunty angle. He stroked the dark bristles inhabiting his chin and lower cheeks, the unoccupied hand resting upon the head of a lithe beige weasel harboring an elegant set of jagged chocolate streaks. Both of the beast's glacial eyes fell upon the potential trainer traversing in their direction -- obsidian pupils still riveted to the human, a faint bark escaped its muzzle, briefly exposing an impressive set of pale canines whose glisten put the most treasured of pearls to deplore.
The man donned a strained smile, tired eyes inspecting the lass. Another? Today had hatched a relatively busy afternoon, and he found himself more fatigued than usual, in spite of the everpresent adoration for his occupation. "Welcome... may I help you?" he inquired, a gruff but gentle quality within his tone. The Linoone idly flicked its brush of a tail and clawed purposefully at the loam, anxiety piqued. The arrival of such a newcomer meant, naturally, that something of its interest would be occurring in the near future.

Ribikuu smiled politely as the man greeted her. "I would like to catch..." eyes drifted downwards to his linoone. "... ahh...! SO CUTE!" She ran up to the what seemed to be well trained linoone and hugged it around it's neck. "What's his name? Awww..." She smiled innocently as she awaited the man's answer.
Then she forgot what she came here for. Her train of thought had fallen off track...

It was obvious the Linoone's nerves were on end. Its hackles were bristling wildly, and it seemed to be quite keen on turning around and clawing the girl's windpipe out before eating it with maple syrup.
But it didn't.
The ranger indulged in a sharp intake of breath before exhaling, gazing warily at the lass. "I wouldn't do that if I were you," he stared simply. Unfathomably violated, the Linoone weaseled from her embrace and fairly hid behind its master's leg, the only visible portion being a cream-hued tailtip flicking with suppressed hostility.
"Okay, let's... cut to the chase. Before you go off and hug some Rhydon and end up getting decapitated and I get sued for it. 'Kay?" the exhausted ranger murmured austerely, eyeing the girl critically. "What can I do for you today?"

"I don't like Rhydons," She said with a blissful smile. A part of her told her that that wasn't the point, but she merely ignored it.
"Erm... uh... well... I think I was... oh, yeah! I was gonna catch my first pokemon... right?" She gave an unsure expression, and then leaned on her knees by pushing down on them with her hands.

The ranger arched a brow and shrugged. "Yeah, sure. Saw that coming." Upon the word 'Pokemon', the Linoone slinked smoothly from its hiding area, keeping the girl well within visionary with felid ears pricked for the faintest essence of a command. It didn't have a great deal of time to wait. The man clucked his tongue at the badger, expression pensive. "Go and get one, Lynn," was the authorative murmur, and swiftly as a blaze of subtle beige and chocolate, the weasel faded into the dense thicket of grass. The noises of an imment struggle emanated from the foliage, several muffled, "Cheriii!"s muffled by the eruption of snarling and snapping on the Linoone's part. Within a mere elipse of minutes, a small creature of magenta hue fled from the shelter of the tall plantlife standing sentry over its territory. Within moments, "Lynn" had pinned the creature with long, blunt claws that gleamed a fatal obsidian. The ranger deftly tossed a bicolored orb at the struggling form, and the Linoone's claws sank to the ground as it faded into a shapeless mass of crimson light and was devoured by the PokeBall. The lid of the device snapped shut, and with hardly a stir, the Cherubi was captured. Level: 5 Gender: [ you decide ] Name: [ you decide ] Personality: [ you decide ] Attacks: Tackle The ranger summoned forth a strained smile and offered the sphere to the girl. "Take care of it -- a very lucky catch, that 'un was." he fawned, forking over the following supplies in a large grocery bag. Pokeball x 6Healing Potions x 2PokeDoll x 1PokeDex x 1Room Key ( two nights )Ribbon Case ooc|| :x I used one of those randomizers. Cherubiii.

{{OoC// *o* omg. I could never catch one of these in D/P D:}}
The girl squealed in delight, grabbed the stuff that the ranger gave her, and slung the backpack over her shoulder. "Thank you, mister!" She also scratched behind the Linoone's ear, to congratulate it for it's great capture. "And you too~"
With her new pokemon, she set off onto the first route.
