Why they decided to come to such a strange, desolate and natural part of town during the middle of the night was beyond them. Perhaps they were bored. Perhaps they were scouting for some sort of mischief that needed to be managed. Either way, the unlikely duo had found the entrance the peculiar Patch of Tall Grass with relative ease and proceeded to break-and-enter.
Hectate and Scarlet managed to find Windra in the middle of the moonlit mass. She was just removing herself from a section of town while cursing and sputtering and carrying on. Her face was flushed red with pure rage, putting volume into her words without even realizing it. Zed vented her frustrations to them in passing, and with a few reassuring pats on the back and softly-spoken words, was sent off to get some sleep. The poor girl was exhausted, as it was. She'd need some rest to fall back on in the couple days, if adventure was indeed in her future.
With nothing left to do but entertain themselves for the night, the red-skinned woman with large nails and the fighter-clad brunette stalked into the grassy areas. There was no real reason. They were curious, and curiosity demanded to be satisfied. Hectate lead the way, slightly crouched so as not to attract unwanted attention - they didn't know if this was private property or not. Scarlet followed closely. Too closely for the former's comfort.
"Scar!" snapped the leading lady suddenly, her head swiveling back. "Watch your step, that was my foot!"
"WHAA?!" yelped the crimson woman suddenly. She stared blindly at the ground, presumably where Hectate's feet were ... and suddenly launched down to them. She grabbed one sole and lifted it into the air, unceremoniously flipping Hectate onto her back without even realizing it.
"Urk!" Nemo groaned, her back throbbing. Damn, why'd a rock have to be under her?
"Poor footsie!" cried Scarlet in sheer agony while Hectate tried to squirm out of her death-like grasp. Juggernaut rubbed the heel, cooing. "I sorry! No be's steppin' on ya next time, kay?"
"Scar, you loon, leggo!" Her wish came true, but in the way one would expect. Distracted by a sudden hoot in the distance, Scarlet dropped the foot and stepped onto her partner - not appearing to notice the grunt and pained growl beneath or the sudden plush under her boot - and off again, disappearing into another patch of grass.
Hectate was soon behind her. "I hate you," she grumbled.
Her head was locked into a noogie. "Aww I luff ya too's!"

A linoone shuffled through the grass and behind it a Pokémon Ranger. Why was she out this late? Because she was the party animal of the Rangers. She had gone to club in the far side of town and brought her linoone with her for protection. Strange thing was that she wasn't drunk, thats right not drunk. She absolutely hated the taste of alcohol. She just liked the music, dancing, and of course, free food.
By now she had adjusted to the night and could see as well as she was ever going to. And with that sight she spotted something moving in the distant. Sounded like people. "Come on Lin, let's get them before they do something stupid." She sighed, wanting to go to bed.
Approaching the two she held in a laugh at the sight of one getting a noogie from the other. "Excuse me? Are you two here for your starter Pokémon?" She was so unobservant that these two were B+E'ing. Whether that was breaking and entering or bacon and eggs

It could hardly be called Breaking and Entering, since there was literally nothing to break and enter aside from grass and wilderness. For all they knew, this was part of some wide expanse of forest that was just itching to be observed and explored. Had they known otherwise, Hectate would have probably dragged Scarlet off quicker than lightning, determined to not get her into any more trouble than she was worth.
Scarlet blinked at the trainer, cocking her head. Her arms were still coiled around the neck of her comrade, currently gritting her teeth and pushing against the grip with all her might to no avail. Hectate huffed, fighting the urge to bite Scar to get her to back off. But instead she sighed, head hanging limply in defeat.
"Starter ... Pokémanz? repeated the red-skinned Juggernaut. There was a definite fire in her eyes now. Or there would have been, had the post-mortem milk not been there to coat it. Lipless maw twitching downward into a frown, she offered a puzzled look about. "But dis ain't no Laboratorryyy." Hectate mocked putting a gun to her head ad pulling the trigger with her free hand. "No professor or nuthin'. Whatchoo talkin' 'bout Willis?"
"Begging your pardon," the more mature member of the group interrupted, finally managing to shove outof Scarlet's death-lock, only to stumble backwards a bit before regaining composure. Once certain of her freedom when Scarlet did not pursue her, Hectate bowed her head a bit to the woman and her Pokémon. "My apologies for our intrusion at this time of night. Scarlet and I are newcomers to Cheyenne. We only arrived in town an hour ago."
Thumping her broad chest, Scarlet chirped, "I hitched a ride with dis pervy dude!" A thrumm erupted from her throat, almost cat-like. "Dead sexeh, he was. Mmhmm."
The brunette rolled her eyes, struggling to hide a faintly amused smirk before continuing. "But if you please ... What do you mean, Starter Pokémon? Is this the Lab ... of sorts?" A broad hand gesture encircled the entire enclosure with one sweep.
But Scarlet clapped her hands and bounced from foot to foot. "I wanna Starter! I wanna Starter!"

"But dis ain't no Laboratorryyy." Hectate mocked putting a gun to her head ad pulling the trigger with her free hand. "No professor or nuthin'. Whatchoo talkin' 'bout Willis?"
The Ranger frowned at the two, thinking that they were here to make fun of her. But it was late at night, so it could be anything. Were they robbers? Though if she had to ask, if they were probably already drunk and wanted to mooch some off of her. Shame she didn't have any. Hopefully they hadn't followed her from that Ranger Party, because that would've been a wasted effort.
"Its a part of the Laboratory. This land here belongs to the Professors of Cheyenne. " She began slowly, exchanging nervous glances with her Linoone. The Pokémon sensed that something was off with the scene, but could only growl to itself as its partner talked to them.
Hectate was definitely a lot easier to talk to, but she couldn't feel safe around either of them. Not after such a dramatic entrance like this. But, they seemed curious about getting a Starter Pokémon anyways. Why in the world were they in the first place? Now she was getting confused, and frankly, she wasn't in the mood for it.
"Its a part of the Lab. Trainers that want to test their luck allow me and my Linoone to catch the first Pokémon we see out here. Its for diversity, variety, and the chance to let fate give you the 'Perfect Pokemon'. which could easily be a Caterpie..." She mumbled under her breath, beginning to cross her arms at the two. Was she going to have to make a capture for the two, or not?

Hectate hung back with an intrigued look upon her face. The land belonged to a professor named Cheyenne ... and this patch of tall grass was part of the Laboratory. Albeit it was an open-air one. She parted her jaws to ask something else, but froze when realizing how sour the girl looked. Damn, did they come in at a bad time or what? Even the Linoone looked a little irate. Gulping a little, she dipped her head and grinned sheepishly at the two. Her voice was firm and earnest, tinged with her own fatigue.
"I'll admit that my curiosity's been torked," she told them in something above a whisper - loud enough to be heard by them and them alone. "But it's late. Sorry to bother you. Besides - "
Her arm was nearly wrenched out of its socket by Scarlet, who lurched forth while grappling onto the brunette's wrist. "Sho Deadthiiiing!" she chirped, eyes closed and smile beaming: her teeth were exposed, displaying something closely resembling something closely resembling the jaws of a shark. Each tooth was sharpened and serrated. You definitely did not want to get bitten by her ... "Shosho! C'mooon, wanna get a Starter?" Releasing Hectate from her grip, she suddenly turned to the Ranger and her partner while striking a pose. One hand thumped against her chest while the other pumped the air in the form of a fist. "We could be's kickin' some gym ass n' stuff, be Mastahs and journey 'round like dat kid from ... Pallet!"
The reference hit a spot with Hectate and she groaned, rubbing her eyes. "Scar ... ," she began softly. Become a Trainer? But the fae didn't think it was the right thing. Back where she came from, pitting animal against animal was not only considered inhumane, but it was a crime. You could get arrested. And she'd rather not watch Pokémon beat each other to bloody pulps until one of them fainted, was hospitalized, or worse - died. "I don't thi - "
Once again, she was cut off. Because Scarlet made the decision for both of them, whether Hectate liked it or not. "Sign us up puhleaaazzzeee," she pleaded with the Ranger. Juggernaut's expression mocked that of a little child. Grabbing Hectate by the wrist again, she tugged her forth so hard that the one-eyed brunette nearly fell on her face. "Yus? We'll be's lovin' ya foreverrr if ya do?"

The Ranger rolled her eyes as she let the two talk it out, a life desicion made within a couple of seconds. Her attention leading to the night sky above her, she began to wonder about which types of Pokemon they might get. Certainly in the dark, different Pokemon appeared. The chances of getting ghost and dark Pokemon simply sky rocketed, since capturing a sleeping Pokemon wasn't the nicest thing to do. It was rude to just surprise them like that, the shock alone was pretty damaging. "You don't need to sign anything. Just scan yourself with the Pokedex's in your Starter Pack. After you go to a Pokemon Center, have them load it onto their computers so you can qualify for the Pokemon League Challenge." She shrugged to herself as she walked over to the Ranger Booth, not that far away, and returned with two Starter Packs. Now for the difficult job of catching two Pokemon in the dark. Linoone didn't have night visionor anything, so they would have to rely on its keen sense of smell. "Linoone, go catch." She mumbled, referring to dogs and the game of fetch, it was Ranger humor. The Linoone gave a swift nod as it dived into the Patch of Tall Grass, the girl nodded to them before following her Pokemon into the wild. It took a while, seeing as none of their usual attacks pin down ghost Pokemon right away, but it worked. The two came out feeling like hereos as she handed them the Pokeballs. "Have fun." Was all she offered to say, before heading in for the night. Hectate's Pokemon

It was a peculiar happening, at best. And out of the blue. Had they suddenly just become Pokémon Trainers? Hectate rubbed her eyes, utter disbelief wading it way through her veins. There was no way this was happening ... being a Trainer was against everything she stood for. The only people she fought in the past were those who were beaten down by her own fists - she would never use another to do the dirty work (despite being the tool used by others herself). And here she was given only one road to take because of Scarlet's eagerness to do something fun and strange a neat and NOW. She rolled the pokéball about in the palm of her hand, staring at it blankly for a few long moments before gazing at where the Ranger had been. She was gone now, leaving them to their fate as Trainers.
Scarlet was less melodramatic than her calmer counterpart. And she was more ADD prone. Bouncing about like a drunk on acid, she threw her Pokéball up into the air and down again. Up and down, up and down, up and down, up and down ... Whoever or whatever was inside the thing was bound to be puking its guts out right about now. Hectate rolled her eyes, reaching for Scarlet's arm and forcing it to a stop.
"Chill, Scar," Hectate mused silently, turning her frown into a bitter smile. "I don't think your new little friend will appreciate being chucked about like that."
[/b]"Awwww,"[/b][/color] bemoaned the Juggernaut. But she nodded in agreement, staring down at the red-and-white sphere. "Whatcha think it is?"Resigning to her fate, Hectate pressed the button on the ball. Scarlet followed suit. "Only one way to find out ... As rays of red light shot forth from their holding cells, Hectate could not help but wonder what she had gotten herself into. But as Scarlet would remind her time and time again in the next few minutes, there were tons of things that could be done with a person who had a Pokémon. They didn't necessarily have to Train ... There were other options. Best to explore them ... soon. Fin
