Reena Stillwing, who at sixteen was only just begining her Pokemon journey, set out down Route 1. She liked the french name, french was such a pretty-sounding language. You could say really horrible stuff, and make it sound pretty. Or so her teacher had told her a few years ago.
She sighed slightly, forcing her mind away from that teacher. She had had horrible expierences with her, and almost failed her class for multiple reasons...
Reena reached to her belt, and pulled off the first minimized pokeball hanging there. She enlarged it, and just looked at the shiny surface for a moment. Inside was her first Pokemon, her starter...A Wooper named Motion, or "Mo". He was going to be a handful, the Ranger had taken quite a while to catch him, and the level five Wooper had managed to drench the Ranger and his Linoone before the fight was over. But this would also mean that Reena had a bit of an edge on the competition. Her Pokemon had heart, and he wasn't afraid to take on someone stronger than himself.
"Motion, come on out!" She called, pressing the button on the pokeball with her pointer finger. She felt it slip into the orb, and then the ball was opening, and red energy was jumping out, taking the form of her Wooper.
"Woooo!" He cried as he matieralized, standing tall and twitching the coral-like structures on his cheeks.
"Hey, there, Mo," Reena smiled, kneeling next to the Wooper and patting him on the head, "I'm Reena, your new trainer."
Mo nodded, shutting his eyes happily at the pat. When he opened them, he also opened his mouth, and let out a stream of water.
"Wooo! Per!" He exclaimed happily.
Reena, however, just stood up, and wrung some of the water out of her hoodie.
"Whatever, Mo. I was gonna take it off anyway." With a quick motion, she took her hoodie off and stuffed the damp garment into her backpack.
She shivered slightly, her tank-top was wet, too, and it wasn't the warmest day ever. Oh well, you knew training wasn't going to be easy.
"Let's go, buddy, and find some Pokemon to fight. And catch." She smiled, and walked down the path, Mo hopping along at her heels.

Over in the distance, there seemed to be some sort of commotion. Whatever it was had caused a large group of random forest Pokemon to run away in terror, and the flames and electric moves that were being fired into the sky seemed a little foreboding.
Check it out, or ignore it?

Reena's head had bent, and she was staring at her feet as she walked along. She had a pretty short attention span, and walking wasn't her favorite activity by a long shot. Suddenly, Motion jumped up.
"Wooop!" He shouted, gesturing wildly with his tail in the direction of the fire and electricity.
"Holy sh-" Reena started, but cut off as Mo rushed off.
"Hey, come back! You don't know what might be happening!"
She couldn't deny that she wanted to find out, too, though. So when Mo didn't instantly come back, she ran after him, her gaze moving rapidly to find the source of all the commotion.

In a small clearing of the Route One forest, the attacks that seemed to be launched into the air had quieted down. Leaving only a thick cloud of dust to scatter up into the air, and a large coughing noise from the creature in the middle. As the dust cleared, a surprisingly tiny creature remained in the area. Giving an agitated glance at the area around it, to find that there were absolutly no Pokémon in the area. Or the one it was looking for, at least.
<Grrr...WHO STOLE MY BERRY? Where are you, ya stickin' theif.> Its voice indicating it was a male shouted out into the endless sky, yet to human ears it would only come out as 'Munchlax munch'. Basically a bunch of gibberish that was transformed into a language known by all Pokémon. Its sensitive nose picked up on the scent of food supplies nearby, and turned around to see Reena and the Wooper. Within seconds it was heated up with rage again, and called from the distance.
<So, was it you who stole my meal? Came to rub it in, how you SAVORED the meal that I spent hours gathering?> He hissed with clentched fists, now looking like the picture of the angry Pokémon that scared the others away.

Motion jumped back, eyes wide, as the Munchlax's mood spiked into rage.
"Woop! Woop!" <We didn't eat your meal. Swear!> He squeked, planting his feet on the ground and staring at the Munchlax.
Reena was looking intimidated by this Pokemon. It would probably be hard to beat, and she wasn't sure if she could. Not on her first battle. Usually you started out with Bidoof and stuff like that, didn't you? At level 2. Not a Munchlax with anger issues, and especially not a Munchlax with anger issues that had just lost his food and was ready to take his anger out on anyone he saw.
"Woah, it's ok!" She said, without thinking, "We didn't take your food, but we have some extra. Here."
Reena reached into her backpack, and pulled out some berries. She had intended those for her and Motion's next meal, but if this Munchlax needed food, wanted food, whatever, she'd better give it to him. Besides, she and Motion were pampered townfolk, this Munchlax had to fight the elements every day to survive.
"Here," She repeated, holding out the berries.

The Munchlax really wasn't trying to hear the innocent "thieves" explain the fact that they really didn't steal his berry. Letting his anger control him the pokemon swiftly ready his chubby fingers and moved them in a mystical movement, which soon glowed a soft blue. Could it be that the Munchlax was about to use Metronome?
"We didn't take your food, but we have some extra. Here."
After hearing those words the Munchlax quickly lost focused upon his attack and canceled it. He then slowly walked over closer to the trainer and her pokemon. <Hmp!> The pokemon grunted, swiping the berries from the girl's hand swiftly, and greedily. He then looked up at the trainer and her pokemon, as if he kinda felt sorry for blaming them for taking his berries, and for taking theirs greedily. Could this rude pokemon really have a soft side?

Reena felt a thrill of fear as the Munchlax prepared to attack, and almost fell over in relief as he lost concentration and took the food.
"Thank God..." She sighed, before noticing the look in the Munchlax's eyes.
It was kind of cute, when it wasn't about to kill them. Mo heisitantly crept closer to the Munchlax, cooing a questioning, "Woo?"
Confidence rushed back into Reena, as she felt the pokeball remaining on her belt wiggle slightly. It was a Pokémon she had just recently received, a level ten Cranidos whom she had decided to name Imp. If worst came to worst, she could always use him in a fight. So she smiled confidently at the Munchlax.
"You're fine, bud. You're actually kinda cute," She said gently.

After hearing Reena's comment, the Munchlax carefully threw a few berries into his mouth, and returned the other few to Reena's shyly as he began to blush a little. <Please forgive me for my rude behavior, I seem to get like that when I get very Hungary,> The chubby pokemon explained.

Of course, Reena couldn't understand Pokemon languague, but the Munchlax's actions and expressions were clear enough. Taking the few berries left back, Reena grinned. He was absolutely adorable, despite his food issues.
"It's ok," She responded to his apology, "I think we all get a little crazy sometimes, especially if we're hungry."
Motion nodded, jumping forward with a smile. He began speaking rapidly. <We're just starting out on our journey, and could really use some expierence. Maybe you could battle us? If we win, you could come with us, and then you wouldn't have to find your own food. But if you win...Well, you could decide something...>
Reena watched, realizing what Mo was asking. Of course, a battle would be a great idea. But could they win? And if they did...Well, of course she'd love to have the Munchlax on their team, but could she really feed him? She'd definately have to work hard to do so.

Once hearing Reena accept his apology, he inwardly sighed in relief. Thatw as one embaressing situation out of the way, and there wouldn't be negative repucutions afterwards.
The Munchlaz gave a quizzical look over to the Wooper as it began talking in a super fast motion, and almost lost track of what Motion was trying to say. Something about a battle, and everything else was just for extra effect...Useless words, but what the heck. The chubby little Pokemon didn't mind having a battle, it was time to lose some calories anyways!
<Battle? Sounds good. > A short and stubby arm pounded against his chest before turning around to give some distance between the two Pokemon. He gave one small warning glance to Reena, however.
<Better stay back, or you might get hurt.> He sounded as if he was teasing the girl, but there was a sense of protectivness in his voice. Resting his arms by his side, he went charging at the Water type with a Tackle.

Reena smiled and stepped back, giving both Pokemon plenty of room. Her gaze brightened, as she took in the situation. It would be a hard battle, but it'd be worth it if they won...
The Munchlax started to charge at Mo. The small blue water-ground-type tried to side-step, but tripped over his feet. His tail swung wildly as he fought for his balance, causing a tail whip attack effect. He was hit by the tackle, which caused him to fall over, but he rolled to his feet to glare angrily at the Munchlax. He wasn't mad at the Munchlax, he thought of him as his friend, but he was mad at his own inexpierence.
"Mo! Use water gun!"
Mo opened his mouth wide, and water rushed out.

The Munchlax felt a small but hard tail being wacked in his face and felt a little more defensless. Then he felt a large gush of water splash all over him. He narrowed his eyes and decided he'd better regain his defense first. He curled up into a ball using Defense Curl and felt tougher right away. He smiled and pondered what to do next.
Eventually the blue puff ball decided on Metronome. He stuck out his index fingers and waggled them around and sang, <Munch, munch, munch-- LAX!> he ended with his fingers pointing at the Water type pokemon infront of him. 'Metronome can be any type move,' he thought, and hoped for it to be a good one. Out from his fingers, traveling through the air was... rings of water!! 'Water Pulse, awww,' he thought and mumbled, <So much for good,>.[/blockquote]

Mo smirked as both of his attacks worked. Reena felt better about the battle, until she saw the Munchlax use Defense Curl. So much for the defense lowering they had just done, but it couldn't be helped. The metronome attack made her flinch, and she actually shut her eyes for a moment. Then Mo let out a slightly triumphant "Woop!" and she opened them to see water rushing at him. For a moment, she forgot his ability of Water Absorb, and almost cried out for him to move. Then the water hit him, and he...sort of glowed. With a soft grunt, he jumped up, seemingly healthier than before.
"Oh! Water Absorb!" She said outloud, almost laughing at herself.
"Right, well...Mo, how about you try the same thing as last time?"
Motion nodded, jumping forward, and twisting to whack his tail towards the Munchlax. He landed, and opened his mouth, the water sacs inside his body contracting to force more water towards the Munchlax.
Water fight! Reena thought, vaguely, then laughed softly.

Munchlax was mad now. He defense curled again, making his defense even higher than before. He felt tougher, even though the Wooper was now healthier. He planed to try and turn this around, with a Tackle.
The small baby pokemon lunged towards the water type, he shifted all his weight to his upper body and flung that half of him first. He was guaranteed to at least graze the water pokemon, but it was possible his aim was off, he wasn't really looking.

Motion, becoming overconfident, twisted about, trying to dodge the Tackle. It didn't work, though, as he tripped and fell the wrong way, right under the bulk on the Munchlax. Despite being a baby Pokemon, the Munchlax was still really heavy!
Motion sturggled, pressing his small feet against the Munchlax and finally rolling from under him.
"Per." He hissed, getting back to his feet, though he looked a little unsteady.
"Motion! Don't get overconfident! That'll lose this for us. Use Water Gun again."

The Water Gun pushed against the Munchlax's thick body, his raised defense didn't really help much against this non-physical attack move, and felt his body get slowed down from the weight of the water that his long fur absorbed. Giving a tiny grunt, the Normal type felt like trying its luck with another Metronome.
It wasn't like Tackle would get him anywhere, he was rather slow at the moment that it didn't seem like any of his attacks would hit. Raising two glowing fingers in the air, he made a rhythmic dance by swaying side to side, before a random attack exploded from its fingers and onto his body. It had turned into a Focus Energy, much to his disappointment, but maybe it could help...Maybe...

Motion felt bad for the Munchlax, it must be horrible to get waterlogged like that. Good thing for him, it wasn't possible. Water could only help the small water-ground type, thanks to his Water Absorb ability...
Anyway, the Metronome came as a surprise, he had been expecting another tackle quite honestly, and so had Reena. When it turned into a Focus Energy, Motion took a slight step back. Great, just what he needed, an already strong, big (or at least bigger than he was) opponent, getting even stronger and more pumped.
"Alright, Motion. Watch yourself. You know what to do," Reena said quickly, and the Wooper nodded.
With a jump forward, he opened his mouth and unleashed another Water Gun.
So what if it was repetitive? It was working wasn't it?

The jet of water carefully pushed the Munchlax back a little more, lucky the attack still didn't do too much damage to the Normal type pokemon. After taking the Water Gun Attack the Munchlax slowly shaken it's body, and started to do, yet another rhythmic dance, with a few seconds the it's claws glowed a metallic color, and the chubby beast began to run at the Wopper with a Metal Claw.

((Sorry it took so long to reply. I had a lot of school stuff this past week.)) Motion jumped in surprise, not expecting the Metronome to turn into something useful. It hadn't so far, so why should it start now? He hissed in pain, as the Munchlax tore into his side with sharp, metallic claws.
"Woop!" He snarled, gritting his teeth. A few spots of blood dripped from his side, which only added to his anger at being caught off-guard again
He opened his mouth, and released another Water Gun, without waiting for his trainer to order him to do anything.
"Geesh, Mo, don't bother waiting for me." Reena mumbled, rolling her eyes.

The Munchlax grinned as it made it's hit and turned around just in time to see the jet of water about to hit it. But remember it was just in time to SEE it so it had no chance to avoid it. It was pushed back again and out of the hairs near it's feet feel an apple that it seemed to have forgotten about. It gazed down at the apple then at Wooper.
It then picked up the apple and chucked it at Motion. Then it charged with a tackle. It hoped the apple would catch it off guard but it was a horrible waste of such a delicious food.
