Ethan swore. "Freakin' flashlight..." He mumbled to himself, smacking his flashlight against his palm. It kept blinking on and off and Ethan had no idea why. He ran his hand through his hair in impatience, green eyes scanning the graveyard. Of all the places to have a broken flashlight, it was the scariest part of the region. e sincerely hoped nobody would see his little blinking light.

A pair of Zubat had been leisurely resting on the bottom of a dead tree branch, it being a miracle that the branch could support their weight in the first place. Hanging upside-down while gossiping to each other about the other Pokemon in the graveyard and their stories when the flashlight blinked right on them. Without eyes, one wouldn't expect them to be so sensitive to the light. But they were, in fact, they despised the light. Screeching in response to the sudden attack, the fluttered off of the tree branch to separate into the night. Flying quickly across the skies to try and search for the source of the fiendish being, and pinpointed it from where Ethan was standing. <There it is! Get it now! Now! NOW!> The female of the two cackled, diving down at the human boy like a swarm of bugs. The Male was eager to agree, sensing that this was a living being. One with actual blood and flesh, a treat for them compared to the dried up meals they had everyday. <He is ours, get him with Leech Life!> He laughed, trying to take a tiny bite out of the humans neck. Just a little bit of energy was all he needed to go totally crazy. It didn't matter if the boy flailed around with his arms or not, he would pursue his prey to the end.

Ethan was watch the Zubats carefully until he found out what they were hunting. He knew it was too late for one of his Pokemon to not only appear but protect him so he had to protect himself. He aimed right at the zubats with his flash light and it flickered on for a whole two seconds before dieing again. Ethan just had to hope it was enough.

The Zubat screeched in surprise and pain as the fluttered away from the trainer, they knew that the light had come from him in the first place. Neither had expected it to reappear, assuming that the light device was broken for the time being.
<It burns! Zubat, stop him!> The female cried, flying behind the male to use his body to shield herself from the light attack. He was in just as much pain as she was, and was about to fly away in fear until he accidentally bumped into her, forcing him to stick around for a little while longer.

There was another flash of light, but it hadn't come from the flashlight. It was bright red, and it left Bristle and Gem standing in the dark.
Gem's keen eyesight found the two flying types immediately and knew why she was let outside her Pokeball. Why can't Ethan take care of himself? She thought angrily, using a water gun on the female. bristle was happy to out of the Pokeball and thrilled it was for a battle. He zigzagged his way over and growled before using tackle on the male.
Ethan sighed in relief. He had seen his Pokemon battle and he knew he could take care of themselves.

The female was the one that was supposed to be hit by the Water Gun, but she cleverly hid herself behind the male’s body, using him as a shield as she cringed. A misty spray of water getting on her as the force of the attack sent both her and the male backwards, but higher into the air. They just got high enough to dodge the Zigzagoon’s attack, not that they knew about that move.
Separating from each other, the two flying types flew around in circles in frenzy. Making them harder targets to hit, while trying to use sonar to figure out where their opponents were. They were able to detect all three life forms on the ground, and decided to attack the Pokemon first.
Making a blunt attack on the human was pointless when there were two bodyguards to defend him, they both decided to themselves. The two were more concerned about the one flying up in the air, knowing if they stayed high enough, the Zigzagoon couldn’t reach them. However, the two weren’t perfectly in sync. Struggling over which attacks to use, the male tried out his Astonish on Gem. Letting out a sharp cry to try and make the opponent flinch, but was quickly covered up by the female’s Supersonic on Gem.

Gem fell to the ground, utterly confused. She tried to attack, but hurt herself instead.Bristle had been watching the way the female flew and had detected a pattern. If he shut out how the male was flying, he could easily predict where she was going to fly. He tackled there in advance, knowing she was much faster than him and he would only make it if he attacked earlier.

The female Zubat cackled in victory, before shooting a glare at the male. <I'll take care of the ditsy bird! You! Stay out of my way!> she snapped at the male, turning her back on him and doing a few more loops to confuse the Pokémon even more. Just as she was about to attack Gem with a Leech Life she was distracted by a fierce blow to her side. The land bound Zigzagoon had somehow managed to connect with her.
Hissing angrily, she turned on the spiky furred Pokémon and quickly attached herself to the neck of the Zigzagoon, gulping greedily as she regained health lost from the Tackle. Leech Life!
The male was growing infuriated with the cockiness of the female Zubat, she was the one cowering behind him! And he had attacked first! Snorting softly the male dived down towards the Wingull and used Astonish once again, letting out a high pitched squeal at the end to attempt to make the confused Pokémon flinch.

Gem flinched horribly. She was not at all prepared for a fight in the dark, especially confused against Zubats. Bristle knew if he was going to get another hit in, it had to be immediatly after she finished her attack and her gaurd was down. He felt his muscles weaken with the leech life so he quickly growled then tackled.
Ethan winced. Gem was going to take hit after hit if he didn't do something. Somebody might call it cheating, but Ethan knew desperate times called for desperate measures...meaning a flashlight. Ethan knocked the little flashlight against his thigh and the light flickered on. He aimed at the male, not knowing how long it would last. It died beforehe could aim at the male for more than one second.

The male Zubat was enjoying his feast, especially with no resisitance he could eat until the pokemon was dried up. Well, that's how it normally went. But the annoying human shined the light ceating device at him, making his skin prickle and his eyes burn. With a girlish squeal he backed off, seeing white disorianting spots all over his vision. Distracted, he floundered around. Guess that second was enough.
Meanwhile the female was not having such an easy time either, using her sonar she attempted to pinpoint the Zigzagoon. The pokemon had somehow managed to slither away from her, and now she had no clue where it was lurking. She pinpointed a growl, that weakened her attack power.
The female Zubat, soared upwards but not fast enough. The Zigzagoon tackled her and knocked her to the ground. Angrily, while they were at close range, the Zubat used Astonish letting out a piercing shriek at the end to cause the foe to flinch.

Bristle flinched. This was no doubt his toughest battle yet. These two Zubats could have mopped the floor with the old Gem easy, and this scared Bristle.
Gem was up. Her eyes were narrowed in anger. Adrenaline pumped in her. She was all kinds of mad now and ready to battle. She charged up her water gun, something she hadn't done before and sent it straight toward the male poison type. It was the strongest she'd ever attacked before and she was a bit surprised.
Ethan smiled and put away the flashlight. Gem was back up and now those Zubats were toast.

The female Zubat snickered to herself at the fearful little Zigzagoon, knowing now that this was her opportunity to do some real damage against him. Clinging onto him for dear life, she began to try and sink her teeth into his soft flesh for a Leech Life. Hopefully he would stay nice and still for her to get an extra large health boost, since she wanted to last as long as possible.
'Play it safe for now...Then go all out...' She felt like a genius at her so-called plan, all she had to do was hope that the male wouldn't go ahead and mess it up. Speaking of the male, his screaming was really beginning to get on her nerves. The light wasn't that bad!
<Agghhhhh! That stupid, lousy, no good, worthless, stick human!> He began to swear under his breath until his mouth became fill with gallons and gallons of water. Choking, he struggled to spit it out while closing his mouth so no more of the water gun would get in. It was cold, and stinging him, and now he was getting pushed up into the air against his will. It was enough to get more than half of his health knocked away, but he couldn't help but fly around in uncertainty. How did such a little body hold that much water?
While he struggled with his lack of common sense, he kept his distance up in the air. Not knowing if Gem would come up to chase after him, or shoot another water gun like that from down below. It didn't matter to him, because he had learned from her little trick from earlier. Already, he was charging up a strong Supersonic in the back of his throat. Just itching to be released and confuse anyone that heard its horrible high pitched squeal.

Gem immediately pushed off the ground and took to the sky. She charged her water gun again, sending it at the male Zubat as soon as she could. Inside she was swearing angrily. They had completely overwhelmed her and made her look stupid. They would have to pay.
Bristle started squirming violently. He wasn't going to let her just take him down. He growled angrily before thinking hard. Hoping she wouldn't let go, the Zigzagoon began rolling on the ground like a crocodile's death roll.

The Zubats were now getting tied out it had felt like they had been battling forever! There health was obviously dwindling but they weren't going to let that stop them were they? The male Zubat was ready to release his supersonic, but before he could the powerfully Watergun came shooting at him full force. he was hot upward making him slam into a hollow tree branch above. He slowly fluttered back toward the ground landing on his head, ouch. He seemed to finally be unconscious, but every so often how would twich around. The female was just starting to get her first bit of juice when she was sent tumbling along with the Zigzagoon. She squealed in pain as she was thrashed around but she somehow found away to release herself from the Pokémon. She flapped he wings weakly to get as far up in the air as possible. She glanced toward her partner to see how he was doing. *GASP* he was fainted! She was in total and utter shock how could he faint?!!?! She looked around nervously. "I'm leaving this joint!" she mumbled flying off into forest surrounding the graveyard. You defeated Zubat! All participating Pokemon Gain 1 Level!Capture fainted Pokémon?

Gem grinned. Evil little Zubats. They deserved that. She had half a mind to chase down that female Zubat and water gun the heck out of it. but Ethan had the flashlight and she wasn't going alone. She perched on Ethan's shoulder and gave him a big smile.
Bristle shook his body as if his fur was wet. He and gem shared the same hatred of those creepy bats. But he was much more tired than the water/flying type was. He quietly and peacefully returned himself.
Ethan reached into his pack and grabbed a Pokeball. "Vamp." He named it as he gently tossed the red and white ball at the Zubat. A sense of relief hit him, until he realized he was in the Spooky Graveyards. Who knew what kind of Pokemon were lurking in here?

The Pokeball hit the Zubat despite the darkness, and he was thankful for that much. No more of that cursed light would be able to harm him as long as he was inside of the Pokeball, that is, unless his new trainer decided to mess around with him while under his command. Which would suck, but what could you do about it?
You've captured a Zubat!
::zubat:: Species: Zubat Gender: Male Level: 10 Attacks: Leech Life, Super Sonic, Astonish Special Note: Seriously hates light, would prefer to battle it out in the dark
There was yet another Pokemon that travelled around here blindly, but this was one that preferred to walk on land than fly in the air. Not that it could, but someday, it knew it would be able to fly. Until then, it was stuck on the ground eating whatever minerals it could in order to grow stronger. It was how most bug Pokemon like it grew up, by having big appetites and being heavy sleepers.
Stopping at the base of a tombstone, the Nincada's instincts began to kick in. It was a built in warning system, full of sensitive nerves that could detect Ethan right away. The only thing left for it to do was decide if he was a threat or not. So instead of attacking or running, the Pokemon remained perfectly still. If anything, it wanted to avoid encountering him at all costs. But a battle would help it grow up a little bit, the only benefit to a Pokemon like it.

Ethan let Vamp go into the PC, and began working on his flashlight. He realized it just needed new batteries and quickly remedied that. The flashlight burst on working beautifully. He passed it around on the floor before walking. The beam of light had passed over the Nincada and he hadn't even noticed.
Gem had. She leaped up from her perch on Ethan's shoulder and dive bombed the bug/ground type with a water gun. It was absolutely perfect for a water/flying type.

The Nincada's tiny antennae were quick in detecting the Water Gun, exactly 160* to the left. It was ready in a heartbeat by making a short leap behind the strike point, its legs kicking up a giant cloud of dust while coming to a complete stop. It wasn't sure about what to do, but with an extreme distaste for water it didn't want to go close to that flying thing.
'It is up there. I doubt I can reach with the size my body is at...' The Nincada thought with a shudder, feeling rather helpless in this type of situation. It was never attacked by a water type before, and frankly it didn't like it.
The only thing it could think of trying was by creating a diversion for the being up there, assuming that it needed eyes to see. Kicking up a Sand Attack, a large dust cloud began to rise into the air. It wouldn't hurt, but it would make it invisible for the time being. Allowing it to take cover behind another nearby tombstone, leaning against the dark stone as camouflage. Not that it knew that, it just felt hidden in the darkness of its shadow.

Gem winced and dove down, landing on a tombstone. She blinked repeatedly, trying to get the stinging sand out of her eyes. The little bug type had surprised her completely with that Sand Attack and she had been caught off guard. The little thing was quick for its size too, further angering the flying type. Her sharp eyes scanned the area, seeing a little fleck of green and white on the black tombstone. She charged up her water gun (trying to form a habit) and let it loose, hoping it wouldn't damage the grave.

The Nincada wasn't able to sense what the Wingull was doing without its eyes, the only thing it could do was hide in waiting. She was still flying up in the air, but apparently some of its sand got in her eyes. It was the only explanation for her shaky and unsettling movements in the air. With a nervous sigh, the Nincada’s head suddenly shot up at the air. Almost as if it was looking right up at her and the charged up Water Gun attack, before getting trapped in its own hiding place.
The Super Effective strike left it and the ground around it damp and moist, much too thick to kick up as a normal Sand Attack. Mud was much harder to fling around, and it wasn’t at a high enough level to learn the technique. With a surprised squeak, the Nincada was quick in shaking the water off like a dog would. Now it knew that it had to attempt to reach the Wingull, but it wouldn’t be easy.
Hoping with its flea like body up onto the top of the tombstone, it sensed the Wingulls position by sensing the air currents and vibrations in the air. As soon as it felt that the Wingull was close enough, it made a mighty leap into the air with its claws extended, lashing out with a Scratch attack.
