Gem took the normal attack with a plan. While she watched the ground type speedily make its way over to her, she was preparing herself. When he got near for the pysical attack, she let loose a supersonic, hoping to confuse the Nincada.

The Supersonic attack had failed, even for a creature that relies on hearing for a living couldn’t succumb to the Supersonic’s effects. Perhaps because of the time and energy spent on charging the Water Gun from earlier had affected Gem’s ability to use other attacks that involve a little bit of charging had become affected as well. The Nincada cringed, the only bonus for the Wingull before sending another Scratch attack at the Wingull while it still could. Only this time it was with the other claw before making a harsh landing onto the ground.
It remained in a slight daze while it was on the ground, still a little edgy from the moist ground that it was standing on. It was more than uncomfortable in a situation like this, but it was next to impossible to run away from a Pokémon with wings. They simply had too many advantages compared to a tiny bug like it.

Gem winced. That scratch had definetly been a critical hit. There was a small scar where the bug type had attackd, and Gem got angry. That little bug had got her! She charged up her water gun, not even thinking about confusing the ground type. She wanted him hurt and hurt bad. After a couple seconds of charging and aiming, she let loose the attack.

The Nincada had no room to run around when the newest Water Gun was shot down at it, and with a tiny squeak the tiny bug used a Harden in hopes of protecting itself against the blasts. It was like a powerful waterfall, its entire body was trembling in horror from the moist area around it, holding its breath in an attempt to save its lung from the attack until it was over.
By that time, it had rolled over on its belly with swirls in its eyes. Spitting out whatever water that got lodged in its mouth and nose, coughing and sneezing all the while. This one had taken more than it could chew, there was simply no where else to go for him so might as well give up.
Gem gains a level, capture or move on?

Gem grinned. Take that. She thought to herself smugly before returning to her seat of power...Ethan's shoulder. She was really glad of her progress. She was training much faster with this idiot of a trainer than at home in the patch of grass. At this rate she'd be strong in no time.
After four minutes, Ethan finally managed to find the tiny bug type's body in the dark. After two throws, he finaly managed to hit the Pokemon's body with a Pokeball. Ethan sighed. This was not his night.

The Pokeball was thrown at the Nincada, sucking it inside with a more than frustrated expression. But in its weak state, the most it could do is sigh away its annoyance before fighting a new opponent. This blasted Pokeball!
Shakeshake...shakeshake...shakeshakeashakeit.
DING!

Ethan grinned before the Pokeball was sent to his PC. He had liked that little Nincada. He would make sure to take it out of the PC later. He quietly started moving the flashlight over the gravyard, careful not to wake anything...alive down here.

She was a bug Pokemon with a simple mind, hopping to and fro from the gravestones in search of dropped food. Trainers were rather common here, and tended to flee in terror while leaving some precious goods behind. The Venonat was nibbling on the edge of a Rare Candy, peeling through the wrapper before gulping it down with a single bite.
As soon as the flashlight shone against her fuzzy body, a guilty expression crossed her mind, thinking that this was the previous owner of the Rare Candy. Quickly hiding the wrapper behind her back, she turned to hop away to avoid any trouble until something clicked in her mind.
Could it be...? Portable light...?
A quick Pokedex scan would say that Venonat like her were obsessed with light, especially in the middle of the night. She was basically the living expression 'like bugs drawn to a light' as she hopped even closer to the trainer. Her beady eyes examining the curious object with total bliss, each direction the light beam was pointed at, she had to follow it. She couldn't quite explain her need for the light beam, it was just instinctive.

Ethan immediately felt the need to go "Awww" when he saw the fuzzy purple blob that was the Venonat. With its big red eyes and its tiny arms and cute little antenna, Ethan thought it was the cutest thing ever. Thats when the worst happened. Gem took off from his shoulder as if to battle the little poison type. He grabbed her foot before she could get going though. She made an angry face at him but eventually resigned to sit obediently on her trainer's shoulder. He moved the flashlight so the light was right at Ethan's feet. He hoped the Venonat's fear was less than its obsession with light.

The Venonat was caught off guard by Gem's sudden appearance, crying in total horror at the sight of her horrid expression. If looks could kill, well, this time it seems like they do. The poor Venonat was flat on its back, arms huddled together in a fetal position with swirls in its eyes.
The poor thing was scared out of its wits, and fainted on the spot. Not even its precious flashlight will revive it, and it was easy to see that it was 'out like a light'.
Gem doesn't gain a level for it though, but its pretty darn vulnerable out here. What will Ethan do?

Ethan quickly threw a Pokeball, grinning from ear to ear. Sure it was a cheap win, but when life hands you lemons, throw a Pokeball at them. Plus, he really wanted a Venonat on his team.
Gem smiled smugly. She didn't even attack and she won a battle. She would love torturing the Venonat about this incident later once the Pokeball clicked. She yawned. It was pretty late out and she wanted to sleep. She returned herself to her Pokeball to sleep until morning.
