Tess walked into the town, glancing fretfully around, a determined look on her face. In her arms was the wild Oddish she had befriended. Both were looking for the Oddish's father, and she had told Tess that a trainer had caught him and brought him to this town.
"Can you see him anywhere?" she whispered to the little Oddish, keeping her eyes on the people around her. She would rotate her body every now and again to make sure the Oddish got a good view of the people around them.
She looked for any sort of trainer that might have a Muk out, but they had just entered the city. She figured they might have to walk around a little more. Maybe if they couldn't find anyone on the streets they would look around in the Pokémon Center or Mart for the culprit.

The Oddish had been chirping a surprisingly cheerful tune for someone who was supposingly looking for her pokenapped father. Apparently she had rather enjoyed the short trek with the trainer. The tune was in a strange language, not pokespeak, but too percise to be a random asortment of words.
As they appraoched the city though, the Oddish was fully alert, every nerve nding on her body tingling as she waited to spot the man and get her trainer back. Eyes darting around as Tess turned, she was silent for a moment before replying. <Not yet, let's keep looking. The guy looked kinda shifty-- let's checkcheck in some darker places.>
And lucky for the Oddish, the closest dark place you could find was an alleyway just around the corner. Leaning against the wall was a rugged man with a face fill of unshaven stubble. A muk in a puddle, half asleep. A cloud of smoke floated up as the man took another drag on his cigratte.

Tess looked down as the Pokemon spoke to her and she took in the Oddish's words, but she blanched a little bit. Shifty? Well, that didn't sound too pleasant at all. . . Setting her face with a determined look, the Fire Pokemon trainer squared her shoulders and marched forward. "Alright!" she muttered to herself.
She looked around for a nearby alleyway and turned a corner, stopping for a second to give the Oddish time to look around, but then she herself spotted a Muk sitting on the ground, looking like it was dozing. There was a trainer by it, so Tess leaned closer to her charge so as not to alert the trainer to her presence, just in case this was just some random trainer with a random Muk.
"Is that the guy?" she asked quietly, keeping her eyes on the shady man. Didn't he know smoking could kill him? Though then again, he did hang out with a highly toxic Pokemon. . . Suddenly, Tess began to wonder if she would be able to take the trainer if push came to shove. . . Maybe she should try asking nicely first.

The Oddish gasped quietly as they turned around the corner into the alleyway, she let out a surprisingly loud growl for someone as small as her and screamed, <YOU MEANIE HEAD. GIVE MY DADDY BACK!> The small pokemon stomped on Tess' shoulder in anger before apologizing heavily and nearly falling off her perch.
Holding on, she pulled herself back up and nodded, eyes still burning. <Yes. That's him.> she said.
The man looked up quickly a guilty and nervous expression on his face, a little fear even flashed through his eyes. However once seeing it was an Oddish screaming, he visiably calmed before frowning slightly. <Hey. That pokemon got a problem?> he asked, almost daring her to say yes. <What? Need something or are you just staring? he asked.

Tess screwed up her face so that she looked angry and threatening and she strode toward the man, the Oddish still with her. "You took something from this poor Oddish!" she declared. "And she either wants her father back or for you to make ammends!"
Outside, the Fire Trainer looked really pumped and ready for a fight, but on the inside she just hoped Mr. Shady would be willing to comply. He looked really shifty, and she had just started her training. A guy like him would probably thrash her! However, if the Oddish was willing to fight with her, maybe they had a chance.

The man looked quite confused for a moment, he didn't remember seeing this Oddish before. What the hell was this girl talking about. The rugged man, held his hands up, and took a step back. "Whoa girlie. Take a chill pill. You've got the wrong person." he said, before growing weary. "Are you with the cops?" he asked, taking a step forward, looking ready to get in a fist fight.
Then a lightbulb popped into the man's head. "Oh! That Oddish. Yeah, another Pokémon defeated it so I decided I might as well capture it." he said, nodding before smirking slightly. "And you think I'm just going to give him to you sweet?" The man shook his head. "I don't think so."
The mid aged man, yanked a glistening bi-colored orb out of his coat pocket and held it up to the sun. "What's in it for me?"
