Rose walked down Route One. Everything hadn't gone as expected back at the lab, but she was satisfied with the results. She stopped after a few minutes and took out the Pokeball Aaron had given her.
With a flash the Swinub appeared. He looked up at Rose. <Hi. Are you my trainer?>
Rose smiled down at the little guy. "Yes, I am." She bent down to rub his back.
<Then what's my name?> the Swinub asked.
Rose frowned slightly. She smiled when she got an idea. "How about 'Tiko?' It's a good solid name."
<Alright,> the Swinub said excitedly. <Let's go!>
Rose smiled. "That's just what I was thinking." She carefully picked up Tiko. She started back down the path, her new friend securely in her arms.

::weedle::
”Hzchoo! Sniff…sniff…” Snot dangled from under the tiny Weedle’s nose as he inched out of his burrow, made entirely out of weeds and dirt. It was more of a fort than a home, but it did more than enough to keep the freezing snow out. Though he had caught a cold right now, it was only because of his late night foraging. Hey. When a man’s gotta eat, a man’s gotta eat! And boy! Was he hungry! His little red legs started working, much like a train, running side by side in order to propel the whole structure forward. All of this walking was enough to start to create some body heat, but it was far from comfortable.
<Food…food…food…> He was like a machine. No thoughts whatsoever. And if there were any in that head of his, it was clouded up by his strong need to eat! In order to get strong, he needed to eat! In order to grow, he needed to eat! Sorry to say, dying young in the middle of the winter wasn’t on the agenda. The Weedle’s eyes were focused only straight ahead at the usual dining area, a Pecha Berry Bush. Ripe, pink berries could sometimes be found hidden in its depths. Hiding from predators like him, that is.

Rose scanned her eyes across the forest floor, on the lookout for Pokemon. She had just gotten started and was eager to prove herself in battle, even if it was just against a weak wild Pokemon. She smirked when she saw the Weedle wiggling across the ground.
Rose gently set Tiko down. The Swinub looked up at her. She smiled down at the little Pokemon. "Ready to battle?" she asked it.
Tiko glanced over at the Weedle. Figuring it wasn't much of a threat to him, he turned back to Rose and nodded. <I'm ready.>
Rose grinned. "Great! Use Tackle."
Tiko ran along the ground with his little legs towards the unsuspecting Weedle. The cold air chilled him a bit, but it was nothing he couldn't handle. He had to focus on his fight now.

The little Weedle didn't suspect anything out of the ordinary as he reached the Pecha Berry and began to dine on it. The ripe pink flesh fell away easily, allowing the Weedle to get to the soft meat inside.
Before he knew it however, he was on his back at least a foot away from the food. His little eyes scanned the area, finally alerted to the danger that was apparently very nearby. It took him little time at all to find the source of the Tackle. A little brown pokemon that he'd never seen before. It certainly didn't live around here anyway.
<No fair! That's my food!> He cried, guessing that the pokemon had attacked because it, also, was hungry. <Go find you're own!> He squeeled, launching a String Shot in it's direction as a warning. Nothing was going to get between the Weedle and the Pecha Berry.

Tiko smiled when he made direct contact. <I don't want your food,> he said. <i just want to battle.> He looked up at Rose, suddenly doubtful. <Maybe we should wait until he's done eating.> He ducked as the String Shot came his way. He fell to the ground and tried to rub it off.
Rose shook her head. "I can't wait. It can eat after I catch it." She frowned at the Swinub's attempt to get rid of the String Shot. "Ignore that for now. It's not doing much damage. Use Tackle again."
Tiko rolled back onto his feet and sighed. <If you say so.> He ran towards the Weedle again, this time wary of a counter attack.

<Eeep!> The Weedle cried. He clearly saw the pokemon coming towards him, but a set of rather slow reflexes caused him to just stand there while he was hit with the same attack...<I want to eat...only to eat!> He muttered to himself as he stood on his hind...four legs? Instead of worrying about his beloved Pecha Berry, he took an offensive. The stinger on his head began to glow as several tiny dart-like projectiles shot towards the Swinub. The Weedle had every intention of poisoning the brown pokemon, but that was something he couldn't control yet. <HA! That'll teach you to not touch MY food!> He yelled triumphantly, not checking to see the result of his attack, but instead; turning to do a victory dance of sorts to his invisible audience.

Tiko frowned. He really felt bad about disturbing the while it was eating. But he had to obey his trainer. She knew what she was doing. He gasped as sharp needles flew towards him. He ducked down, managing to avoid most of the attack.
"Try another Tackle," Rose suggested.
Tiko sighed. He wished he knew another offensive attack. This was getting tiring. He ran towards the Weedle yet again.

Once again, the Weedle was quite ignorant of the battle that the Swinub was trying to continue on with. The Tackle hit with precision, this time knocking the Weedle into the trunk of a tree.
The small bug was starting to feel the wear of these Tackles. Maybe it was time to get serious. As he fell to the ground, he slowly got to his feet, this time ready to defend himself from any attack that might befall him again. He aimed his horn at the brown pig and fired off another Poison Sting. On the inside, he feared he may have gotten serious too late as he was wearing down before anything had begun and the Swinub was still almost fresh out of the pokeball.

Tiko watched as the Weedle hit a tree. That would certainly tire him out. Hopefully this battle would be over soon. He was getting pretty hungry himself. He whimpered as another Poison Sting hit him.
Rose nodded at the mostly one-sided battle. She would have preferred a more offensive opponent, but a battle was a battle. At least it was attacking back. "Alright, try one more Tackle," she ordered.
Tiko stayed still for a second, taking deep breaths to ready himself. Then he ran towards the Weedle one more time.

Weedle saw the pokemon coming at him yet again. He knew this would probably be the end, but it was worth it to fight for his beloved food. As the Swinub came at him, he shot another String Shot, trying to at least delay the inevitable. Even if it had slowed down Swinub, it didn't stop the amount of damage that was done.
The Weedle fell the the ground again, and didn't get up this time. He was utterly exausted by the barrage of tackles he'd endured trying to protect his food.
You've defeated the Weedle. Tiko gains 1 lvl. You may catch the Weedle or Move on.

Tiko ducked his head down as the String Shot hit him. It blinded him, but he already knew where the Weedle was. A little slower this time, he knocked into him. When he was sure he had hit his target, Tiko worked to get the sticky web off of his face.
Rose grinned when the Weedle didn't get up. She took out a Pokeball from her bag. She aimed and threw it at the Weedle. This is the first Pokémon I'm going to catch! she thought excitedly. It was a bid day for her.

The pokeball soared towards the Weedle. When it hit, the bug Pokémon fell into a ball of red light. The Weedle put up no resistance, allowing the ball to quickly encase the Pokémon.

Rose grinned widely. "Yes!" She quickly ran to pick up the Pokeball. She kissed it once. With a flash she let out your new Weedle. He looked up at her tiredly. "Hi," Rose said cheerfully. "Your new name is Jaxle. You can eat now."
<Yes! Food!> Jaxle exclaimed. He made his way over to where he had last left his Pecha Berry. He happily began to eat.
Rose smiled as she watched him. She bent down and cupped some melted snow in her hands. She walked over to where Tiko was still struggling. She dumped the water over his head. He sighed in relief when the string shot was easier to come of. "You can eat too now," Rose said. She took out some Pokemon food from her bag and gave it to him.
Both of Rose's Pokemon looked a lot better after they had finished eating. "You two deserve a rest," she said. She quickly returned them to their Pokeballs. She started down the path once again, excitement surging through her. She wondered what would happen next.

Up ahead on the path there seemed to be a rather odd pokemon laying in the path. It didn't seem to be hurt, nor did it seem to be awake. But one thing was for sure, it was still breathing.
::Wooper:: Lvl 6

(It's fine. ) Rose blinked when she saw something up ahead. Curious, she started jogging until she reached the blue thing on the ground. It was a Pokemon! "I wonder what it's doing here," Rose mused. She knelt down next to the Wooper to inspect it. "Hmm..." Rose said thoughtfully. "It's not safe for you to be here." She considered simply moving the little Pokemon, but she was too curious to know as to why it fell asleep in the middle of the path. She gently shook it, hoping it was enough to awaken it.

The wooper smiled slightly as the trainer approached it, but remained still, still acting like it was unconcious. Upon the trainer's touch the pokemon did not react for a small while, but a faint shudder traveled up and down the wooper's body. His eyes fluttered open and he stared at the trainer confused for a moment.
Within moments the wooper had rolled away and leapt to his feet, his tail smacked a branch behind him, with a clattering sound. A huge net had fallen ontop of the trainer, coming to fast for her to possibly get out of the way in time. Well, that was quite unexpected. () Poor Rose, she was simply trying to help out a pokemon and instead got trapped in a net.
<Pssh. You humans are so easy to fool. You hearts are too kind.> he said strolling up to the trainer, not caring if she couldn't understand him. <YET! You TRAP MY entire FAMILY in those capture devices of yours! Now I'm all alone and YOU get to see how it feels to be trapped!> he yelled, smacking his tail down inches away from the young woman.
<HOW DOES IT FEEL?>

Rose stared the the Wooper curiously as it opened its eyes. She blinked when it got up. What was it doing with its tail? She gasped as a net fell on her. She instinctively put her hands up to stop it, but it did no good. She glowered at the Wooper. "That was a dirty trick!" she spat.
Rose jumped back, startled, when the Wooper smacked its tail near her. She narrowed her eyes at him. She got the gist of what he said. "That's the way it's supposed to work, stupid. Where did you come from?" She quickly took out a Pokeball. She wouldn't let this Wooper make fun of her. "Go Jaxle!"
The Weedle appeared outside the net. He looked in alarm at his trainer trapped in a net. He turned to face the Wooper, slowly trying to comprehend the situation.
"Jaxle, Poison Sting!" Rose demanded.
Jaxle nodded. He was in fighting mode now. He aimed his horn at the Wooper and shot out poisonous darts.

Still jumping and dancing around, the Wooper was unaware of the poison Sting until it hit him. He squeeled as the small stingers stuck into his backside, injecting a deadly poison for such a small bug pokemon. He didn't feel the effects instantly, but he had experience with poison. He no longer had a long time to taunt the girl and her Weedle before his vision went fuzzy. He stumbled foreward in the grass before letting his eyes grow red in a Leer, then rushing foreward in a Tackle. This stupid trainer wouldn't get the best of him. She was in a net after all, she couldn't fight back!

Rose nodded in approval when Jaxle's Poison Sting hit the Wooper. That would do. "Ok, now try to stop him with String Shot." She hoped his attack would be powerful enough. It was their best shot.
Jaxle felt his defenses lower with the Leer attack. He instantly felt weaker, but he couldn't worry about that. He had to concentrate on fighting now. Once he got started, there was nothing that could stop him. He got directly in the way of the Weedle. He shot out his String Shot with as much force as he could muster, hoping it would be enough.

(You mean he got in front of the Wooper?) The Wooper could feel the poison creeping slowly across his back, slowly making him incapable of movement. He didn't have much time and he knew it. Slowed by poison, the Wooper practically let the String Shot hit him, but not without some retaliation. He continued foreward in his Tackle attack, feeling the ground begin to sway under him. <You can't beat me. I'LL AVENGE MY FAMILY!>
