Already 3 steps into the Route and Hurin was already bored of this. He wanted to get some hard training in before the end of the first route. By his own expirence, he'd often found that first routes were invariably short, to accomadate to new trainers and their inexperience.
"Nero, what say we find out what pokemon that Ranger gave us?" He asked, in an unnaturally happy mood. Without waiting on an answer, he tossed the pokeball out in front of him waiting for the white light to fade. To be quite honest, he looked not disapointed, but purely astonished. "That Ranger is going to get it, he did this on purpose!" He yelled to the sky, quite angry with the resulting pokemon. "A Grimer? Of all the things to give a Coordinator. Is this entire region testing my full ability as a Coordinator or something?"
As Hurin went on and on and on, Nero was silently shaking with laughter. The Grimer, who in fact was a she, looked rather confused. <Since Hurins rather upset, can I name you?> Nero asked, taking and instant liking to the unusual pokemon. The Grimer looked from her new trainer to the friendly Seel. <Umm, my mother called me Yrin. Could I just take that name again?> She asked gently, not moving much from the spot she'd taken in front of Hurin. <He's my trainer, right? Then I'll do whatever he says. Her voice was petite compared to her unruly looks. She sounded like a Kirlia, but looked...well, she looked like a large pile of sludge.
<Yrin, huh? I like that name. Yeah, you can be Yrin. And I'm Nero. Nice to have you on the team.
<C'est une pleasure to be here.>
(Hehe, a ladylike and subservient grimer who speaks French. XD)

[[ xDD That's one educated and well traveled Grimer. ]]
The small, Pokémon shivered around the corner, her delicate leaves trembling as if they were barely holding onto a tree during one of the horrible windstorms Cheyenne got. This time, they were shaking for a different reason. The small leaves were attached to a small Budew, who was trembling in the cold.
The small Pokémon had woken up from it's slumber, and seeing the sun had mistakeningly thought it was spring already and with her excited cry had woken up her hibernating roomates.
Angered, they had kicked her out and now she was stuck in the cold, where the sun was indeed shining but the temperature was deadly to a small grass type like her. Taking trambling steps, the Budew was determined to find another place to rest. Somewhere warm.
Seeing a pile of sludge, the Budew was repelled at first, but after staring at the pile sitting in the sun, the warmth of that pile soon sank into her mind. The Pokémon only hesitated a moment before sprinting towards the Grimer and settling down ontop of the pokemon, she was oblivious to the fact that the pile of sludge was acaully a Pokémon.
The Budew was acaully quite a tomboy, so a little filth bothered her none.
A wild Budew appears!

Hurin had finally calmed down from his long rant about how society must hate him to befall him with two pokemon he was so high above. He sighed gently as Nero explained to him in few words that the Grimer was called Yrin. Hurin was only half-listening to the Seel when the was a quiet yelp from little Yrin. A small Budew seemed to have mistaken her for a sun-warmed pile of crap and chosen to lay on her for the winter.
Nero burst into giggles while Hurin showed little emotion. His calculating mind was thinking. "Budew evolves into Roselia, those are decent contest pokemon if you raise them right." He made up his mind. He would have to catch this one if he was to have even a small shot at a Ribbon run this time around.
"Your name was Rin, right?" He asked, not really caring at this time whether he got it right now not. <It's Yrin, but it's pronounced like Rin, sir.>
Sir, he liked the sound of that. "Well, then Rin, or Yrin or whatever, start off with a Pound attack on that little Budew. Let's see both how strong you can be as well as how elegant you can make a simple attack." He said, moving to stand in front of the Seel who had yet to return to the pokeball. Hurin had a bad feeling that Nero would choose to stay at his side, rather than in the pokeball.
<Elegant, huh... She murmured. She's never tried to make a move elegant, but there was a first time for everything. She tried to wave her body in a kind of rhythm that accentuated her invertabrae-like body and smacked the little Budew with a hand.

The Budew let out a sigh of sheer bliss as her body slowly sank into the sludge, the warmth of the Pokémon regenerating her body heat, and relaxing her. The stench was quite bad, but the Pokémon simply breathed in her own sweet aroma and was able to rest fairlt comfortably. The goey stickiness of the Pokémon didn't even faze her as she settled down.
Her azure eyes fluttered open quickly at the sound of laughing, and from the sound of it, it surely sounded like it was laughing at her. She paused for a moment, but shrugged, not bothering to get mad, but simply peered around. Spotting a Seel and a trainer, she smiled at the two. <Well! Hello there! It's a little chilly out isn't it?> she commented, before frowning at the trainer, the Yrin commented seemed directed at her.
<Why, no, I'm sorry, my name is J-> she began, but soon let out a scream as the sludge she was lying on began to speak. <A pile of sludge named Yrin?> she stammered, before attempting to fight her way out of the pile of glop. It was stick, but she was frightened and managed to tear away from the Pokémon.
She landed on the ground in a heap though, and while defenseless was struck by the Pound, although due to the fancy motions the attack was slightly less powerful, but it indeed looked elegant. The Budew leaped to her stubby feet and glared at the Grimer.
<YOU TRIED TO EAT ME!> she yelled, feeling like she was lured into a trap. Taking a deep breath, she pumped her self up with a Growth while growing ing size a few inches. Angered and slightly hurt, she charged at the Grimer with a straightforward Tackle.
Budew has attacked! ::budew::

Yrin was suprised to see that Budew so mad at her. This was a battle, was it not? She was supposed to attack. She could feel the grass dying below her body. To save the grass, she would try to move as little as possible, though that way of thinking probably wouldn't last tooo much longer. Still thinking 'beautiful', she awaiting Hurin's next command.
Hurin grunted. One thing she would quickly learn would have to be how to make attacks beautiful while still keeping their power at the regular level. If she kept at this level, she'd never win a constest battle.
"Rin, counter it with another Pound. Make it stronger this time." He said simply. There was almost no emotion in his voice. The way he was used to things, they happened when he said. Raising his voice meant that someone was doing something he didn't like and wasn't listening. At least Yrin was listening to him.
The Tackle hit Yrin's Pound. Evident only on the ground, there was a decent collison between the two. The loose dirt on the ground had blown away leaving only the solid ground and maybe some partyway dead grass.

The Budew charged with all her might towards the pile of slop, she wanted to cause damage, pain. This pokemon was not normally a fan of inflicting violence, but the Grimer had tried to eat her! The feeling of slowly sinking down into the overwhelming body of filth gave her the shudders and the memory only served to fire her up even more.
The pokemon saw, right before the collision, a sudden attack, the Grimer's arm smashed down upon her. She grimaced, but knew that her attack had hit somehow as well. Feeling the ooze of the Grimer upon her body made her stop the attack, and fast, with a cry of disgust she lept away.
The small grass type was in quite a bit of pain, she was tiny compaired to the Grimer and it had a lot of force behind that swing. Bits of slime had acually been flung from her arm with the force and speed it had landed.
The Budew scowled, well, she sure wasn't going to get any closer to that beast. She was the beauty and she would kill that beast, with a exhale, the pokemon called within her a glowing green aura. Within seconds, a multitude of green bubbles hovered around her. With a smirk, the Budew quickly sent her Absorb attack towards the Grimer.

Yrin had recoiled from the Pound offense turned defense. Her hand was sore and it was clear she was starting to dislike this little Budew. But she was also far from out of the match. Without waiting for an order from Hurin she opened her pores, releasing a gas that her body made naturally. To many living creatures, it was considered poisonous giving the move its name: Poison Gas.
Hurin was forced to take a step back. He hadn't called any move, but the Grimer had attacked all the same. She would need to know exactly how he ran things. He told her waht to do, not the other way around. The purple gas was spreading over the field. He had to admit it, the move had procceded well. She was a natural fighter, but still had to learn that he was in charge.
"Since you seem to think you can attack without telling me, we'll continue. Use the gas as a distraction of sorts and Pound it again, just like before."
Yrin would have followed orders this time, but a sickining sensation came over her. It felt like the life was being drained out of her. The Absorb had hit it's target. Weakened further, Yrin carried through with the Pound.

The Budew panted, she had given that Absorb attack all she had, and it left her out of breath. She watched with sasisfaction as the bubbles were hidden in the purple haze floating near her. They would be able to see the Grimer, but the Grimer couldn't see them. The Budew was quite pleased before a sickening feeling trickled over her.
There was a purple smog coming towards her.
Her gasp of relization came too late, and although she lept away, she was out of breath and the poisonious gas entered her lungs, clogging her airway and traveling through her bloodstream. With a cough, she sighed as she felt the effects of poison on her body. The feeling of prickling needles, taking away her health.
Needless to say the Budew was much relieved once the bubbles returned to her and she was flooding with a health boost. That boost was quickly made null with the surprise pound attack from the Grimer. Reacting quickly, the Budew tossed a mulitude of small glowing orbs towards the Grimer's hand as she withdrew from her pound attack.
The were weak and small but many, it was an Absorb attack.

Yrin was feeling rather proud of herself. She was holding up well in a battle, though she should have the advantage. Grass had a slight weakness against poison after all. But without an excess of moves, she could only use what she had. She breathed in the purple gas, enjoying it's almost minty flavour before exhaling again. She was showing off by proving that the noxious gas didn't affect her in the least.
She could see the bubbles heading towards, their shiny green color suprisingly deceiving. They would steal her health again and there was nothing she had that could stop them.
"Use Harden." Hurin commanded in Yrin's midst. He knew that it wouldn't take away the damage, but it might at least lessen it. "Make it pretty and don't forget!" He muttered with force enough to knock down a building.
Yrin moved to comply, feeling her body harden and though she didn't see it, a silver sheen covered her body for but a second.
"Pound."
She followed orders again, swinging her body foreward to land another Pound on the Budew. She was starting to feel sorry for the little pokemon, who'd only been looking for a place to sleep and now she was dragged into a battle where Yrin had poisoned her. What a way to start the day.

The pound hit and the budew flew backwards and landed on the cold rough ground. It felt absolutely terrible. Not only was it bruised and poisoned, it also was still freezing and most likely had a cold. The cold was making it feel tired and all this physical exertion was starting to make her physically tired aswell. As it lay in the dirt, it began to go into a coughing fit. The thing it really hated about being sick was that it made it weak. She hated to be seen as weak in other people's eyes.
It, being the tomboy it was, attempted to get up. But no, it couldn't and even as stubborn as it was, it knew when to give up. She sighed in defeat and looked away. <Just kill me know you horrible person!> Such shame in losing. Atleast she wasn't fainted.

"Pound again. Finish it." Hurin stated simply. He had already pulled out a pokeball and was ready to catch the tiny green pokemon. He didn't care for her appearence right at that time, but when she became a Roselia or a Roserade, she would be a good pokemon to use for contests. Or she could rot in his pc. It didn't really matter to him, all the effort was up to her.
Yrin moved in for the kill, trying to keep Hurin happy while being elegant in her moves. She spun once before bringing her thick arm down on the Budew.

She hadn't really meant what she said, about being killed and all, and her eyes grew large with terror as the sludge covered beast approached her for the kill. With a raised arm, she flinched, closing her eyes and ducking in shame and fear, awaiting the fateful slap. It could send her flying into a tree, a rock, or even into the snow for all she cared, and it would all be plenty miserable. She was smacked into the ground, and with a tiny grunt, she stopped moving. Fainted. Most likely. Or she was faking just so those creeps could go away. It doesn't matter since they still gain a level.
Yrin gains a level. What'll you do now?

Yrin glanced over the small grass pokemon as she lifted her arm fromo it's body. She instantly felt sorry for beating the poor thing. She'd just been trying to find a place to sleep, after all. Yrin looked back towards her trainer who was holding a pokeball. "Out of the way, Yrin." He muttered as he threw the ball. She obediently moved out of the way, noticing for the first time that a small fire pokemon was standing a few feet behind Hurin, seemingly waiting for him to notice. At it's paws was a small pokemon doll, silver in color. The Growlithe looked at her strangely. The two hadn't met, but it seemed that they'd hit it off right away. <I'm Kahn.> He said slowly, motioning for her to come sit with him until Hurin noticed he was there. <I was hatched a few days ago in Hurin's care. I guess I don't really care for him, but he wants me to be beautiful and I want to be beautiful, so we get along.> Yrin nodded and replied with her own name and how she met the strange coordinator. Kahn nodded. <I just got back from the Wishing Well. Ignorant wish granting pokemon there misunderstood my wish for a Skarmory or an Azurill and gave me a Skarmory doll instead...I'll bring you next time. Maybe Jirachi will be nicer if I have a girl with me.> Yrin giggled as she waited for Hurin to notice she'd left his line of sight. He seemed utterly focused on the thrown pokeball.

The glistening orb touched the Budew softly and the pokemon was absorbed into the ball, within moments of touching the Budew the ball began to shake violently nearly tearing the ball open. It was clear this Budew was stubborn and did not want to go with this trainer. However the vicious slaps delt to it by the Grimer made it too weak to resist and she was unable to cling onto her only thread to freedom.
As the ball dinged, the thread was broken and the Budew let out a miserable sigh. What a fun life she was going to have.
Congrats! You have captured a Budew! ::budew::
Gender: ::female:: Ability: {Natural Cure & Poison Point} Level: 6 Attacks: Growth, Absorb, Tackle
A flying type was soaring the skies above, quite enjoying the nice day. The sun was shining and the snow was finally melting. Spring was coming and the pokemon were rejoicing after a long winter. As a glint of silver caught the pokemon's eye, the Taillow let out a shriek of glee as it caught sight of the Skarmory doll. He had a friend that looked like that! Surely that would be a good gift? With a dive bomb, he attempted to grasp the doll in his beak and fly to the nearest branch, safely away from the group. That fire pokemon made him nervous. ::taillow::

Hurin picked up the ball without hesitation. Hopefully the Budew would learn to deal with him, since he wan't really in the mood to release her now. Dropping the ball into his bag, he made a mental note to name her later. He'd been ready to go deeper into the route when a weak swooshing sound made him pause. The next second, a low growl and then a bark made him acually jump a few feet off the ground. Behind him, a Growlithe he'd hatched before coming to the region was staring angrily at a Taillow in a tree branch. The bird was holding a small, silver pokemon doll that looked strangly like a Skarmory. Holding out his two occupied pokeballs, he recalled Yrin and tried to recall Nero. The little Seel seemed adamant to not be recalled in a flash of red light. He gave the Seel a hard glare and received the same in return. Hurin sighed, not wanting to deal with this right now. Nero would stay out for the time being. "Kahn." Hurin said slowly, still keeping an eye on his now unruly Seel. "See if you can't get that bird back into the air." The Growlithe eagerly agreed and began Roaring at the little bird, wanting his new toy back!

The Taillow let out a brief sigh of relief and a muttered thanks to the lord. He had been so nervous yanking that doll out from underneath the fire-types muzzle. A muzzle that hid many sharp teeth and a large amount of flames. Not something he wanted to get too close to.
The flying-tyoe chirped happily upon getting the toy and reasting on the branch, he wanted to catch his breath a little bit before continueing onwards, towards his nest. He was hoping to make it home by nightfall. He had been traveling for a few days and he was sure his friends were worried about him by now.
The Taillow was watching the group warily, prepared to flee if anything happened. Beady eyes glanced over the trio and just as he glanced towards the Growlithe an enormous, roaring sound ripped through the forest. The Talliow shot up in fright and quickly started flying away in the opposite direction.
Perhaps not the best move to use since Roar makes wild pokemon flee. You might want to hurry if you wish to get the doll back.

Kahn gorwled softly, not as an attack, but just in annoyance. It wasn't that the little doll was important to him or anything, but the bird was getting the best of him! Nobody got the best of Kahn the almightly Growlithe. It took about 5 seconds of delayed reaction for the dog Pokémon to chase after the Taillow. He had no attack that could reach that high, so he'd follow it until it gave up for dropped the toy. Hurin said nothing, but followed Kahn at a slower pace. He was thinking of names for his new Budew. The name had to suit a Roserade, nor could it evne resemble a stinky Pokémon of any type. "Laeth is good, but that would be for a boy. Mal...no. Tryce..." He paused at the insteresting sounding word. "Tryce. I like it. She'll learn her new name when she battles again." He murmured, watching Kahn follow the Taillow up ahead. "Come on Nero. We'll have to follow him. Don't get lost, I want to be able to find my way out of the forests if need be."

The Pidgey let out a cooing sound of delight once seeing the pokemon was quite a few paces behind him. He grunted mentally though, readjusting his grip on the pokedoll. It was heavier than he thought. It kinda felt like the Skarmory was acually made out of metal. Either way, the Pidgey continued at the same speed, but started falling towards the ground, getting within reach of the Growlithe if he stepped up the pace.

Kahn eagerly moved forward, softly growling. He didn't feel his feet growing tired. He seemed a bit numb at that point. He leaped towards the falling bird, trying to sink his teeth into the small doll.
Hurin followed at a distance. He wanted to see what the Growlithe would do instead of ordering him to do something again. He'd never raised a Growlithe or Arcanine before, so raising this little rebel would be a challenge for sure.

The Growlithe might not have been tired, but this bird pokemon was getting tired of flapping its wings. A soft, tired sigh emeraged from its beak. He had been flying for most of the day, and when he had taken the doll away, he had been planning to rest soon, but now he was involved in a high-speed race with that pokemon.
Unaware of the looming danger, he still believed he was ahead of the pokemon and firly high in the sky. How much wronger could he be?
As the fire-type lunged for the doll, the Pidgey was suddenly yanked downwards. The doll was ripped from his grip, but it was too late for him to regain his balance. He was sent to the ground with a crushing thud.
Miraciosly the doll itself had not ripped, but shocklingly, still looked brand-new. The same could not be said for the Pidgey who laid in a heap, groaning slightly. He was still dazed from the sudden impact, but relizing there was a danger, sent out a hasty Sand Storm attack, trying to shroud his location.
