backgroundinformation
As would a normal child be brought up, GIvanke was raised in a well to do family. From young, he had been accustomed to manners and proper education. His background was relatively formal, and this shaped him into a person who preferred order. Living in Petalburg did have its quirks, Givanke saw the everyday wannabe trainer rushing to and fro, bringing it Pokémon native to the area, such as Zigzagoon and Poochyena. He grew to like those, very much. At the same time, he balanced life with his family - Normal parents and an older sister. The thing about Petalburg, was how trainers came to Norman for battles, only to sent off. Now and then, stronger trainers returned to this quaint town to challenge him, and won they did, and such battles spurred Givanke on.
He was a studious child - by the age of five his parents had enrolled him into school, where he spent most of his days in Rustboro to study at the Trainer's School. It was around that time his life took a turn, as his sister turned ten and left home to Littleroot, a Treecko in hand. Givanke admired it. In school he had been entrusted to battle any trainer itching for a battle, given an Abra to work with. Of course, who else would turn up but Priscilla Attento, his very own sister. Being younger was in no way hindering to him, but when she still beat him he handed over the TM he had been told to give out, and she left wordlessly, leaving him downtrodden and saddened. He took the loss harshly. Givanke preferred to be the person who was pretty tough, but that proved to be quite the problem when he encountered a little girl around his age, playing amidst the mud. She was absolutely dirty all over. He'd ruined it in an instant, and as he rudely said at her how abnormal she was to be playing in the mud. In return, she retorted and questioned how he was being normal like this.
The question had stunned him, and changed his entire mindset of the world. Soon enough he had believed that he would only do what was considered normal, and became studious, easily topping the class all the way until he was ten. Five years of studying had done more than enough to make him knowledgeable, and armed with this knowledge he returned home, only to know that his sister had left for new horizons and had long finished the gym challenge in Hoenn and had directed herself towards Sinnoh. A sense of envy and jealousy towards her, Givanke followed in her footsteps, but rather of turning to the lab for Pokemon, he looked upon Norman, his long standing idol and requested for him to help. He caught a Zigzagoon, and that became his first Pokémon. He went on to get more Pokemon, and Normal types became his obsession, and through it all Givanke began to win gym after gym, that he finally returned to Norman for a battle.
He lost.
It was enough to hurt his pride for long enough. Givanke set aside all his Pokémon and left for other places, left for other regions that he would be better welcomed in. he returned, two years later, with a new arsenal of Pokémon and this time, he won. Yet, the same joy he had battling back then was completely lost. As he left the gym, news of his sister returning from Sinnoh reached him, and Givanke appeared stunned, appeared happy in a way. She had returned with her Pokemon, stronger than ever. Ambitious Givanke challenged her for a battle, and a battle he got, only to lose yet again. The rivalry he shared against his sister was reignited, but she only stayed long enough to just check back with the family before she left again, and headed off for new places with her now Sceptile and various other Pokemon, all of which Givanke envied. As she left, she had remarked, "How is it wise to only have Normal types on a team?" Rather than surprising him, Givanke left for Cheyenne, abandoning the goal he had been working for and set out to a place recently discovered, hoping he would be able to outshine his sister in all that she did, hoping he would be able to start with a clean slate, to prove that he could beat her, one way or another.
insidetouches
Givanke is, as how his life has shaped him - Normal as ever. He's very bent on staying normal as much as he can. He has this belief that it is only normal by being normal himself. Givanke is smart - His IQ is beyond high, only because he has been studying for so long. His years spent in the Trainer's School in Rustboro truly did pay off - His mind is forever filled with some kind of information - His mind is constantly whirring or constantly on something. His words are usually contemplated upon before he says something, but not all times are they well thought out.
Givanke's pretty assy. He says what he feels and doesn't really regard the feelings of others, which proves to make him quite the insensitive bastard, in other words. But, it has only been rigorous training and all the hell he's been through that has brougth him to such a state. Particularly spurring him on is the desire to become just as good as his sister. Givanke particularly likes snarky comments and eyerolls, which perfectly define his way of talking. Most of the time he'd rather express his opinions in less words, or just use facial expressions.
Givanke's very serious in what he does. He likes solitude and is more task orientated than trying to find friends. He's not good with trying to be a smooth talker and believes not in romances or the like. He does like the occasional risk, but he'd prefer solid evidences and theories that are reliable and can be trusted. He reacts quite badly to foreign advances towards him but if someone he knows is the one hitting on him, he either remains oblivious or just ignores.
He has an odd attitude towards Pokémon. If they're generally weak, Givanke has this interest towards bulking them up and making them stronger. He's extremely strict on their training and toughens them up the strict training way. Pokémon that are relatively stronger he goes a little less harsh on, and prefers to let them do as they like. He however, does have soft spots that Pokémon like Togetic and Swablu have managed to pick on, and towards them Givanke is gentle and more friendly towards.
It is definitely possible to get him flustered, if you're the right kind of person.
