[she's going out for grunt, btw.]
The duskull floated listlessly around the girl's head. It kept relatively quiet, something that ghosts seemed to have down pat. Yomawaru was the girl's new pokemon, and would most likely be her life partner. He settled on top of her head now, as she walked up to the gate.
Shiori had heard about Team Death. They were supposed to be the bad guys. She didn't know what compelled her to join them. She wasn't particularly evil, not even bad, really. But she was here now, and she gulped down the sudden resentment. Yomawaru looked down at her questioningly, and Shiori took a deep breath. She stepped forward.
She didn't call out. You had to watch your step in places like this, and the air rested heavily around her. She blinked. The duskull floated off her head, going further ahead. Before she could stop him, he floated up to the gate and peered through with his strange ever-changing eyes. "Yomawaru!" She hissed angrily. He turned around, giving her another one of his questioning looks.
She balled her hand into a fist, gritting her teeth, trying not to call out and call him back.

He was the only one on duty that night. Most nights actually. Cigarette quivering between his thin lips, Syl's eyes narrowed at the newcomer. "Another one? God, I'd hate to think we're becoming some sort of fad organization..." He muttered to himself.
He took a drag of the cigarette, feeling the noxious smoke fill his lungs to capacity. "What position are you after?" His voice preceded him. He exited the gates, sliding a thin card through for ID. Golden eyes scanned her from top to bottom, inspecting the newest rookie.

"What position are you after?"
The gates opened, and a man with long red hair came out. He seemed to be observing her, so Shiori could only be polite and do the same for him. Her duskull, however, leaped back wildly as the gates opened. He emitted a low "skulll!" and floated back to sit on Shiori's left shoulder. He gave Syl a wobble-eyed red glare.
"Yomawaru." Shiori hissed again. He refused to look at her. Finally, she looked up again. "Mmhm. The name's Shiori, and I'm here to apply for the position of Grunt." Yomawaru turned around to look at her, breaking off from glaring. He gave her yet another questioning look.
[oh bah. i can't come up with anything more. :\]

"I see..." Thick, smoky voice trailed off, eyes locked on hers. Reaching into the black bag dangling at his side, a thin metallic clipboard was pulled out. Pen hit paper, a few things were scribbled down. He paused only once, to look at her for a fleeting moment, and then finished his report.
"Right, you're in," Syl said, handing her a dual-colored badge. "You are to report for duty immediately. Badge number's on the back of that," He motioned towards the badge he had handed her. "Don't lose the badge or forget the number - you'll be needing both."
With that, he turned and re-entered the gates with a slide of the ID card, leaving Shiori alone with her pokemon.
