It had been quite a long time since Seamus felt like doing another Pokémon battle. He felt like his team was trained well enough to protect him in a dark ally, but he was growing restless lately. He was feeling his regrets creeping up on him, and the lack of time in his life was robbing him of his sanity. He chewed nervously on a toothpick as he stood in front of the Gym doors, debating whether he should enter or not. He felt like he was ready to take on his first Gym Leader, but were his Pokémon?
He had them for over a year now, and they still weren't as useful in battles as the other Pokémon in the region. At the moment, they were quite pitiful. But they were all he had. The tall, dark haired man sighed as he held all of his courage in his trembling hands. Would he do it, or merely turn away?
He opened the door gently, at first seeing nothing but darkness inside. Then the lights turned on automatically as he entered, assuming that they were motion sensored. "I'm here for a battle." He spoke, hesitant about the whole thing. He had two pokeballs ready in his hands, assuming that this was a double battle, much like the rumors.

"Well, well. I haven't been challenged in a long time." A voice echoed as the lights continued to turn on until they ended in the back, where a pompous - looking black haired woman sat upon a throne-like chair. She rose, curly hair bobbing as she did, and stepped down to her side of the battlefield that was laid in the center of the room.
"My name is Adrian. Here we operate by double battles. I'll allow you to make the first move." Her red lips parted in a smirk as she said this - she hadn't talked to an aspiring trainer in a long time, and the sound of gym rules was melodious to her ears. She placed a delicate hand in her bag and pulled out two small pokeballs, which, when she pressed their buttons, inflated.
Her voice rang out: "Go, my darlings! Show this trainer that we cannot be messed with!" In a flash of red light, the two Pokémon stepped out of their capsules and onto the battlefield, stretching their sore limbs. It seemed like forever they hadn't seen the light of the gym.

Seamus adjusted his orange glasses when the lights finally shone upon the figure of the Gym Leader; who was quite the ravishing female specimen. He normally didn't like female contact, or even speaking with them, but as long as she kept a distance away then he would be able to manage quite well. Besides, he was more nervous about the upcoming battle anyways.
"I've heard good things about you, Miss Adrian." He replied, finally grasping the two Pokeballs that he wanted with some ounce of confidence. "My name is Seamus. Let's make this a good battle." He pressed the button on each Pokeball, not bothering to toss them in the air like most children did.
Out came a Totodile, who stretched her arms out as soon as she came out. The lights bothered her at first, but she was more interested in her partner that emerged next to her. The second Pokemon was a Shieldon, who merely shook his rugged head to crack the kinks out of his neck.
"Acetate, use Taunt on the rat. Ethyl, prove yourself with Metal Claw." He slipped the two empty Pokeballs into his jacket pockets as he crossed his arms, appearing indifferent to the battle. The Shieldon sprung into action with a teasing wink towards the Rattata, pulling down his eyelid as a dark aura surrounded his body. It was all a big trick, really, to lure the Rattata into only using attacking moves.
Ethyl attacked the only free target, assuming that the Rattata was mad enough to only attack the steel type. Her nails hardened as if they were made of steel, using them as mini daggers in order to slice against the Meowth's soft body. ::totodile:: ::shieldon::

At the Shieldon's tease, the Rattata hissed impatiently and prepared to strike the helmet pokemon for his insolence, but the sound of his owner's voice made him change his target. "Quick Attack on the Totodile, Rat!" Swerving, he ducked down and attained speed that would make a sprinter proud. His new target was Totodile, rage from the taunt serving as a power-up.
Meowth froze at the sight of the little crocodile's claws becoming shiny. <Oooo~, shiny thing!> Meowed the kitten just before the ripping daggers came down on the soft flesh of her belly. She emitted a hiss and then spat angrily as the pain enveloped her, rendering her slightly weaker. "That's alright, my dear Cat! Now, Bite that Totodile!" Commanded Adrian, her confidence for her pokemon ringing through her voice.
The cat regained her composure and rose up again. Her face betrayed rage that she'd been tricked by the shine of Totodile's claws, and she rushed at the water pokemon to exact her vengeance. Sharp jaws opened wide as she prepared to clamp down on the crocodile's tail.

Things appeared to be going as planned, although he hadn't expected two attacks against tiny Ethyl. Wouldn't the Shieldon be a much bigger threat to her team? Seamus knew his stuff, and that normal type moves had a lot of trouble against steel Pokemon. Well, that gave Acetate plenty of time to prevent that Meowth from lowering his own stats. Then with Ethyl, well, he had plans with the injuries she sustained.
The Totodile was hit square in the chest from the Quick Attack directly after unleashing her Metal Claw, making her stumble backwards as she caught her breath. That Meowth though, she wouldn't give her the chance. She already had her fangs sinking into her tail, making her voice crack from the damage.
"Acetate, Taunt that Meowth. Ethyl, use Aqua Tail." Seamus replied with a bored tone, hinting that he was starting to feel neutral about the whole thing. He had plans for Ethyl in this strategy, yes, but that bite made the Meowth vulnerable.
Acetate started by making more silly gestures at the Meowth, and even turned around and started shaking his rump in her direction. Water started to form all around the Totodile's tail while the Meowth's teeth were still latched on. With a violent shake, she tried to fling the cat off of her. "Now use Take Down." Seamus added, and the Shieldon instantly charged towards the Rattata.

Meowth took a sideways glance at Acetate as the silly Pokémon began to tease and taunt her, even going so far as to shake his butt to her. She prepared to hiss a biting insult at the Shieldon before water began to collect rapidly in her mouth.
"Get yourself off her, Kitten!" Cried out Adrian, worried eyes glancing nervously at the Meowth as she began to struggle - the croc's tail had expanded with liquid, which began to fill her jaws. Screeching, she worried less about being flung off of Ethyl's tail than her airpipe, which was being blocked from the liquid. Eventually she unlatched her jaws from the wet blue appendage and was flicked off when it was swung around once more. She landed not-so-softly on her back as she coughed up water and spit. Gasping for air, she stood up and shook her fur off violently. The attacks had done quite a bit of damage on her.
Biting her lip, Adrian commanded, "Use Fake Out on that meanie, sweetheart!" The Pokémon that her foe was using were quite strong, unlike other trainers whose fighters could've used a bit more toughening up before challenging her. She was far more used to sending pathetic little boys away crying in failure - but she supposed she could still make it out of this battle with a little effort. The pained white kitten straightened with effort, then neared Totodile and attempted to trick the crocodile, gesturing in one direction while aiming to stomp on the reptile's foot while she was hopefully distracted.
She turned and saw Rattata preparing to use Quick Attack once more on the Totodile. "Use bite on the Shieldon, my dear!" She called, impatient that the little shield-faced dino hadn't been hit yet. The rat registered her command clearly and rushed at Acetate, aiming to sink his teeth into the petite Shieldon's hide.

Ugh, that Fake Out was really starting to put a dent in his plan. Seamus watched as Ethyl stumbled backwards from the painful stomp, biting her own lip in order to endure the pain. Suddenly she couldn't take it any more and proceeded to clutch her injured foot and hop around like a ballerina with the other one. She didn't even care if she had managed to hurt the Meowth, she merely wished that this pain would go away!
Ethyl has Flinched.
Since Acetate's Take Down in the previous turn had been a total failure, it left him pretty open to an attack. Thankfully it wasn't something that could actually harm him, as the Rattata's teeth managed to sink into his tough rump. He grunted at the odd feeling of his hiney being eaten, but it hadn't hurt him too much.
"What are you waiting for? Use your Scary Face." Seamus grunted, annoyed that the Pokemon hadn't acted on reflex. He breathed a sigh of relief as the Shieldon instantly turned to give the Rattata a most devilish glare that could even frighten away ghosts. "Then use Body Slam." He ordered, feeling that the speed dropping move made the Rattata vulnerable for an attack. The Shieldon lifted his hind legs into the air; all 125 pounds of him, and attempted smash the biting Rattata into the ground.

Adrian grinned devilishly as she watched her Meowth land a successful Fake Out on Totodile. "Now, give the Totodile a deadly kiss to the lips, my darling." She purred. Cat knew exactly what her owner had asked of her, and she approached the Totodile as she continued to jump around from the pain of the Fake Out. Opening her jaws, she jumped and attempted to latch on to the crocodile's top lip - a large enough target for her.
Rattata unlatched himself from the dinosaur's butt and jumped back in fear as the pokemon's face morphed into a devilish gaze. His blood ran cold and he stood still in fear even as the Shieldon launched himself to the air above him. He was squashed where he was standing, the air forced out of his lungs, and gravity combined with the Shieldon's massive bulk nearly broke his poor bones. He wanted to cry out but couldn't - there was no air left in his lungs, and he couldnt breathe. In that state he obviously couldn't try to attack that turn.

Oh, she was starting to get upset. Feeling that nasty fish breath smelling cat's breath against her lips was enough to make her cry, but feeling those sharp teeth digging into her nostril? That was quite hard to forgive! Whatever happened to common courtesy in battles? She looked at the Meowth with a whimper, trying to shake the darn thing off as her emotions started to take full control of her.
Her Rage was made of less anger, and more anxiety, panic, and frustration all built into one confusing emotion. She started scratching and kicking in a fury, her attack going up by one after she finished with her attack. Seamus felt a brief moment of pleasure when he saw that move come into play, why, he was about to ask her to use the move himself. Since she was such a target, surely it would become useful. He was also pleased that the Rattata was no longer moving, and felt like a checkmate was in order.
"Don't give it time to react. Take Down." Seamus commanded, feeling a little bit excited now that he sensed an opportunity to take one of the Gym Leader's Pokemon out. Well, he could've been underestimating her Rattata. However, it looked paralyzed. Acetate obediently charged towards the rat's fallen body, knowing that if he didn't, he was sure to be the next target.

Meowth was finding it harder and harder to stay clung on to the enraged crocodile as it continued to get more emotional. The 'dile's face had changed from joyous to angry in a matter of seconds as she ripped and ripped through the cat's skin. Eventually she found it necessary to let go, not seeing the point in allowing her own body to continue getting hurt for the sake of clinging on.
Adrian recognized the use of Rage; after all, she'd studied rigorously in pokemon school before becoming an esteemed Gym Leader. Knowing that attacking the reptile would just make her more angry, she turned towards Cat and related her commands. "Bite on Shieldon, my kitten." The cat nodded, then advanced towards Shieldon with parted jaws that were already bloody from biting Ethyl's nose. She was very tired by now, so she was slow to get to him this time.
Meanwhile, Rattata had found himself in quite a bad state of affairs - he'd been crushed under the weight of the Shieldon and not been allowed to move. At least, until when he jumped up. He made as if to go, inching himself in an attempt to move aside from where the dino would land, but was far too paralyzed to get out of the way quick enough. He felt the hard body crush him again, and a crack was heard as one of his hip bones broke from the weight.
Adrian cried out in fear, quickly calling back her now unconscious Rat. "Return, oh, my poor little darling!" She cried, cuddling the pokemon to her bosom. She turned her head to the side quickly. "Assistant!!" She called, and quickly two young men came out to help. She tossed the pokeball containing Rat to them and continued urgently, "Take my poor darling to the pokecenter - he's broken a bone." As they went to do as she asked, she turned back to Seamus with a look of rage. "I'll get you for that," She hissed.
Retrieving another ball, she sent out a pokemon that usually fought in her other pair -Worm the Wurmple. He wriggled around on the floor playfully when Adrian called his attention back with a command. "Poison Sting the Shieldon, sweetheart," He obeyed, worming his way towards the shield-faced pokemon and shooting sticky poison barbs at him.

Seamus started to idly twirl his long dark hair around his fingers as the Rattata was knocked out. Honestly, he didn't think that the thing would last all that long anyways. It was outmatched, and didn't even have a trick up its sleeve. How uninteresting. At her sudden threat, he chuckled, showing a rather bold side of him.
"Sore loser, are we?" He raised an eyebrow, not caring about the Rattata's health in the slightest. Honestly, Gym Pokemon were supposed to be better than this.
Stupid Gym Leader, as well. Didn't she know that poison moves were ineffective against steel types? He scoffed, thinking that maybe he should lead her on a little. If she thought that the poison sting could hurt Acetate, it could make an opening.
"Protect yourself, Acetate. Ethyl, use Leer on both of them." He commanded, giving Acetate a free turn where he couldn't suffer any damage. As he surrounded himself with a weak green shield, the Meowth's fangs would hardly be able to puncture it and the poisonous stingers would merely bounce off.
Ethyl worked up a death glare at the Meowth Wurmple, making sure that they would be much weaker to any attacks that came their way. She was too busy mumbling in her rage to even make an attack this time around. She was still rather inexperienced at battling.

Adrian hissed at herself when she saw Acetate use protect. "Cat! Use Growl on the Shieldon and then Fake Out on the Totodile!" She called out, her voice echoing around the gym.
The Meowth pokemon nodded, issuing a half growl half hiss to the steel type before running at it, only to make a quick turn and race towards Ethyl. The leer hit her but she paid no mind, focusing more on the task at hand. As she neared she leaped left at the last moment and aimed at the reptile's tail once more.
Adrian looked towards Worm now and called out more commands. "Worm! Use String shot on the Shieldon and then poison sting the Totodile!"
Worm, happy to serve her trainer shot a bunch of sticky string at the steel type. Maybe it would be stuck to the ground for a bit or at least slowed. Turning her attention to Ethyl, Worm moved her way towards the reptile, it's tail appearing with a purple tint as it approached.

That was a really good combination of attacks on Adrian's part, which only frustrated the older man. Why had things went for a turn of the worse? He didn't really know, as he thought that he was doing so well guiding the horse along, and now it was bucking like a bull. He rubbed his eyebrows to try and calm himself, clearly disappointed that Ethyl had been hit by another Fake Out. She was so stupid, that she fell for that same attack twice.
Not to mention that there was a Poison Sting coming her way. If that hit, it could be really bad. The damage was really racking up on the water type. Luckily, he had a plan.
"Acetate, dodge that web." He responded, his anxiety showing in his voice. His Shieldon responded with a nervous huff, scampering away from the String Shot to the best of his ability.
"Take the Poison Sting for Ethyl." He commanded, and the Shieldon reacted instantly, since he had the same idea in his head. Standing boldly in front of the Meowth and Totodile, he angled his sturdy shield towards the sharp needles, making them completely useless. Why use protect when one was naturally immune?
"Take Down that Meowth." He ordered harshly, wanting to save his powerhouse as much as possible. It was true that the Shieldon wasn't all that strong, but he was extremely defensive. All of that weight would be enough the scare the Meowth away from the Totodile, at least until she could attack again.

{{ooc/ agh sorry for missing this most of the daay ]: <33 ilu}}
Meowth jumped back to follow up her successful Fake Out, watching their opponents carefully. She made the mistake of focusing more on Acetate, whom she was getting frustrated with due to his many resistances, than Totodile, who'd then been ordered to take her down. The sudden crash knocked the cat far, and the feline ended up sprawled on the ground. Her face had taken most of the blow, causing her nose to bleed incessantly. But that wasn't the worst part - the damage she'd accumulated over the course of the battle now took its toll on her, and, unable to stay conscious, she allowed herself to go limp.
Sighing, her displeased gym leader called back the Pokémon. "You did good, my darling," She murmured, not really meaning much by her words but rather spouting them in response to her urge to say something meaningful. In truth she was dissapointed - her cat really needed more training on how to stay focused the whole way. Unlatching her last Pokémon from her belt, she held the sphere to her lips and pressed a kiss onto it before flinging it toward the battlefield, where it opened to release a Natu that looked fiercely at the two opponents. She knew that if she'd been called out, their opposition had been tough enough to take out Cat and Rat.
"Now, my precious, use Night Shade on Totodile!" commanded Adrian, a sour look on her face which had once been a confident one. Natu nodded, then turned and aimed her stare straight at the crocodilian pokemon. Hypnotizing rays were projected from the bird's telepathic mind towards Ethyl, intended to make her hallucinate.
Meanwhile, Worm was standing and waiting for her trainer's command. Turning towards her, Adrian gave a call: "Tackle on Totodile, Worm!" She commanded, pointing her finger at the target that seemed to be weakening more and more. The insect complied, wriggling hastily towards the reptile and aiming to hurl herself at the side of her blue target.

Once he saw that her first two Pokémon had fainted, he felt a brief sense of relief. Then she had to send out another one that could be used to double team his Totodile. He would've told Acetate to use protect, but he had his doubts that it would work after being used once. Instead, he let Ethyl take both attacks before she was completely knocked out, unable to move from the harsh blows.
"Return. So, how many more Pokémon do you have? This battle is getting tedious." He questioned as he recalled the Totodile from the battlefield. During this brief interval, he quickly switched to the next Pokeball in his roster--his starter Pokémon. Chromate wasn't the strongest on his team, but he was much stronger than Ethyl and Acetate.
"Alright then, Body Slam the worm. Chromate, come out and use Fury Attack!" He threw the Pokeball out onto the field, and the Beedrill quickly emerged with his stingers revealed. Like a trained killer, the Beedrill snickered as he zoomed in on the first Pokémon in sight, which happened to be the poor Natu. Right behind him, he could hear fat Accy's footsteps barreling towards whatever opponent was there. Not that it entirely mattered to him, but it meant that he was in a double battle. How fun.

At the man's sly question Adrian ground her teeth in exasperation. She said nothing in response, but simply tossed her hair and continued to watch the battlefield.
"Dodge the Fury Attack, Bird," She ordered, but didn't say anything for her Wurmple, who was battered by the Shieldon's tough body. Natu was able to take flight just before the bee began to jab his huge spikes at her, much to Adrian's relief. "Quickly, use Night Shade on the bee." She commanded. The little green bird stayed afloat for a few more seconds and glared down at the bee, emitting hallucinogenic waves towards his mind.
Meanwhile, Worm was still quite healthy and ready to fight. "Tackle on the Bee, dear," She purred. The Wurmple did not disobey; wriggling quickly towards the beedrill, she jumped and aimed to slam her little body into his abdomen.

<Bee? Bee? The name is Chro-motha-frickin-mate, bitch.> The Beedrill hissed, raising his abdomen stinger at the Gym Leader as if he was flicking her off. That ego of his was always the one thing that dragged him right into the ground though, because he had lost sight of the Natu. Where was it? Flying in mid-air, the Beedrill's wide eyes scanned the area around him and found the bird to be right above him. Oh mother...
<Eeek!> He screeched as a dark colored psychic beam was fired his way. It was only as strong as the Natu's level, but it still annoyed him. Shaking it off, he gave the bird a sharp glare as he started grinding his two front stingers together dangerously. If they could've made sparks, they would have.
<Incoming.> Acetate warned from below, noticing that the Beedrill was getting double teamed. Somehow the Wurmple had gotten away from him, which was a bit of a surprise.
The Wurmple tried to use some kind of tackle on Chromate, but he merely flew above the blow. Honestly, he was a worm once. He knew how they moved. He nodded some thanks towards the Shieldon, but he never needed the help anyways.
"String Shot the bird, then hone in with a Twineedle." Seamus explained, just remembering that psychic types had a weakness. Twineedle was a bug type move, and it would be pretty powerful against the Natu. Chromate shot out a sticky web from his mouth, hoping to lasso the Natu like a horse. Once that was done, he swiftly flew closer with his sharp stingers ready for a rapid fire assault.
"Another Body Slam, Acetate. Keep the worm occupied." Seamus said, rather carelessly towards the Shieldon. He knew with Chromate on his side, that this battle was already his. He gave Adrian a malicious smirk as his Shieldon charged forward with all of his weight towards the Wurmple, ready to crush it.

Adrian let out a gasp and raised a hand to her bosom in pure horror at the bee's audacious behavior. "My, my. Your Beedrill is very badly trained, I must say!" She spurted, eyes still wide with shock. Huffing indignantly, she returned her gaze to her two pokemon who had already executed their attacks.
Natu, seeing the stringy substance exiting the bee's mouth, attempted to dodge but was caught in the sticky web anyway. Struggling to exit its confines was futile; the bird was pulled towards the Bee and jabbed twice with the terrible claws. This left inside of her a horrible feeling as the poisons rocketed through her body. "Night Shade it at close range!" Commanded Adrian. The bird stopped struggling as she executed the command, aiming yet more waves at the beedrill.
Worm, meanwhile, was having trouble of her own. With her slow body, she was unable to assist her feathered counterpart and was knocked away by the Body Slam, landing hard on the ground. "Don't worry! Take your chance and use Stringshot on the Shieldon!" Shouted Adrian, thinking critically now. The worm shot the sticky web at Acetate, hoping to slow the critter down.

Chromate had just finished executing a perfectly fine Twineedle attack, and to be safe, he started to fly backwards to wait for further commands from Seamus. Unfortunately, the Natu had decided to retaliate right then and there, and at her trainer's command, unleashed another annoying Night Shade at his crunchy bug body. It ended up flinging him back farther than necessary, almost like tripping in mid-air, as he tried to regain his composure.
"Badly trained? On the contrary...he is only ill mannered." He gave the Beedrill a disapproving glare, but Chromate didn't particularly care for the man's words. Personality traits couldn't be helped, at least in the Beedrill's mind. So why not let them shine?
"Take a breather, Chromate. Use your Focus Energy. Think, for Pete's sake." He advised with an impatient stomp of his foot. As if that gave anything a dramatic effect, but it was more of an impulse. Chromate wasn't pleased with the boring command, but stood in the middle of the field in complete concentration, ignoring the Natu and Wurmple below him. At least he appeared more relaxed.
Acetate however, was caught completely off guard at the String Shot ambush. The sticky substance completely surrounded him, and he found himself unable to move in his restraints. Pulling his feet out from the sticky web, he tried to free the rest of his body, but that was going to take some time. Curses.
"Use Taunt on that Wurmple. Geez, this was the last thing you needed." Seamus commanded, now officially annoyed at this Gym Battle. The Shieldon, from his vulnerable position, didn't want to use a Taunt, but saw that he had no choice. He was going to get attacked either way, so with an inward sigh, stuck his tongue out rudely at the Wurmple.

Adiana didn't let the hits get past her sour mood. This battle still wasn't in her favor and a few good hits weren't going to change that any time soon. She had to keep a level head and pay attention. She once more ignored the trainers rebuttal and kept her eyes trained on the field. "Bird, use a peck on that Beedrill." If Bird was to get a possible free attack might as well be an effective one.
Bird immediately went into action on command and took flight. It soared straight for the hovering bug pokemon, it's beak at the ready to pierce it's opponent.
She turned her focus now on Worm. "Dear, tackle." She spoke simply and and figured the Wurmple would know who she spoke about to attack. Sure enough, Worm ignored the taunt (though is still affected by it) and charged it's bug body up to the hard skinned Shieldon before it, throwing it's body at it.
