Henrietta blinked, looking up from the book she was reading in a cafe. A woman with brown hair in a curt bun was glaring at her. "If you're not going to buy anything, I'm afraid we're going to have to ask you to leave." She hissed, causing Henrietta to recoil. Oh no, not confrontation!
She whimpered something about money, pulling her bag up onto the table in front of her. She began pulling things out of her bag, including a few old textbooks with the corners folded, a pretty little purse with a flowery pattern and a bag of peanuts which burst and scattered over the table.
Henrietta froze, staring down at the peanuts which had gone everywhere. "O-ohhh." She squeaked, before looking up at the woman who was looking fierce. "I-I'll help clear up, I'm so sorry, I really am, I didn't mean to at all, the bag slipped or ripped or something and went everywhere-"
"I can see that." growled the woman in a voice that made Henrietta sink into her chair in fear. "I suggest you leave so I can tidy this mess." Henrietta's mouth opened and closed, making her look surprisingly like a fish before she decided not to say anything. She looked down, her face turning a brilliant shade of ruby red. She quickly packed up her belongings and scurried out, conscious of the gaze of everyone in the cafe. She scuttled away as quickly as she could, which was surprisingly fast for someone so awkward. It was probably because she had such long legs; she'd be good at running if she didn't have to tendency to trip over her own limbs. After what she deemed a suitable distance, she paused, her face still red at the thought of that embarrassing encounter. Kicked out of Little Honey's Cafe... Oh dear. She shook her head, trying to put the whole episode behind her. Perhaps was the excuse she needed to do what she'd come to do - visit the laboratory. It was around here somewhere, right? - - - A short while later - about an hour and a half - she found herself at the Ranger station. She was hopelessly lost. She wasn't aware that it was possible to get a Pokémon here, but she thought at least they'd be able to direct her to the laboratory. It should be worth a try, at least. She gulped, building up her confidence to knock. She always got anxious at initiating conversation, but she'd have to get over it. She needed to find herself a Pokémon if she was going to be exploring the region... She knocked and found herself wondering if there would be any dinosaur like Pokémon available. "Don' bother knocking on tent doors, little miss. It doesn't work too well, it doesn't." The voice came from behind her and was followed by large, loud, thundering footsteps that made the ground shake. It was a ranger, riding on a much-too-large Rampardos, sitting right between the hump on the large dinosaur's back and its head. The Pokémon itself was twice as big as it was supposed to be, simply towering over everything in its vicinity. It approached Henrietta a bit more before stopping and allowing his trainer to jump off, landing gracefully, even putting a bit of a flourish in his pose as he stood up.
"My name'd be Xavier, and this beautiful hunk of a pokemon'd be 'Zilla. You here for one of your own?" he asked her. "A pok'mon, that is." The Pokémon behind him stood a little taller, a little prouder, displaying its full magnificence. Zilla was his trainer's favourite, her size a good indication of the pampering she received, along with the abundant source of food. Xavier hadn't been expecting a Rampardos, twice as large than most, but he was not unhappy with the turn of events. Who wouldn't love a giant, 10' dinosaur?

Henrietta jumped visibly as she heard the voice behind her. She'd not been expecting anyone to be there, she'd been expecting someone to emerge from the tent, or call her in, or something other than behind her.
"Don' bother knocking on tent doors, little miss. It doesn't work too well, it doesn't."
The words reached Henrietta's ears and she found herself turning red again. Oh, she was so stupid sometimes. Of course it wasn't going to alert the people inside to her presence. She fumbled with the zips on her jacket, turning around,
"I-I'm sorry, I didn't want to be rude and just barge it, I thought that it would be polite to knock and I did- oh my." She squeaked, eyes widening as her gaze fell on the beast in front of her.
"Oh, aren't you beautiful!" She gasped, gently holding out a hand to pat the creature's side. She waited for a few moments, careful not to anger the pokemon, before . It was huge, much larger than the ones in her books, she knew that much. But, she'd not seen a Rampardos in real life, so this was probably the most excited she'd ever been. She stared intently at the reptile, her head thundering in her chest.
It really was beautiful - those blues were so much more vibrant in reality than in her books. She was speechless for a rare moment, taking in every inch of the creature before her. She wanted to steal it away, but she'd never take another's pokemon. "I think I'm in love..." She murmured, "Did you know that their brain never grows because their skulls are so strong and sturdy?" She asked the Ranger, before something clicked in her mind,
"Wait a minute, how on earth did you get it?" She asked, questions immediately flooding her mind, "They're still extinct here, right? Or did you find a fossil? Skull Fossil, right? Where did you find it? I thought they were only native to Sinnoh... Or did you get it from Sinnoh? Are they in Cheyenne? Do you know where I can find one? Are there any other fossils here? Is it possi- ack!" She stopped, apparently choking on something (most likely her own saliva). She shook her head, trying to get her thoughts unjumbled, "I'm sorry, I just really want to acquire a prehistoric pokemon... They're just so... awesome." She purred, gazing up at the Rampardos.
"O-oh! That reminds me... Do you know where I can obtain a pokemon? I'm looking for something to help me - uh, well, help me hunt for fossils..." She looked to the ground. Great, she'd already given the impression that she was a psychotic dinosaur-mad girl. Again. "Um, I'm Henrietta Jones. Junior." She added, "Forgive me if I'm being rude, I tend to ramble when I'm nervous..." She looked down, her hands fiddling with the ring on her middle finger.

::Rampardos:: ::RangerM:: The Rampardos seemed quite content to allow the girl to flatter her and run her hand over his scaled skin. Yes, she was awesome indeed. A loud rumble of satisfaction came from her chest, though it was a lot louder due to her massive size.
Xavier laughed at bit, finding the girl quite adorable. Her reaction was much more than he had ever seen before, though he was quite happy to see someone so deeply in love with his Rampardos. "I'm Xavier. It is a pleasure to meet one passionate young'un like you. As for Zilla... I was quite lucky, I was. Helped out old man Donovan and he gave me this beaut." The ranger placed a hand on the cool scales of his pokemon. "They're not easy to find, but m'sure you'll find one for yourself," continued the ranger.
Xavier hit the strong pokemon's side a few times with an open hand, though to Zilla it was nothing more than a loving and friendly pat. "Time to work, girl! Find this lovely lady a pokemon, wouldja?" He went over to the gate that stopped the wild pokemon from roaming out, opening it for her.
The Rampardos let out a little grunt before moving, careful not to hit any of the small humans around her, before stomping her way into the field. Her large size and heavy weight made all the pokemon around her flee as flocks of pidgeys and starlys were seen as they screeched their way across the sky. The large pokemon didn't go too far, looking around for any pokemon that remained before she found something. Picking it up, the small pokemon fitting in her dinosaur palm quite well, she marched on back, her trail quite obvious in the grass. Xavier had a little smirk on his face. The other rangers are not going to like this, but their reactions would be priceless.
The Rampardos came over and dropped the pokemon onto the ground, next to Henrietta.
::Dunsparce::
Xavier looked at the pokemon in question. Was that... damn it he wasn't quite sure what that was. But it was a pokemon, and that is what mattered. From his belt, he plucked a single pokeball and handed it to the girl.
"Here, try and catch it," he told her.

Henrietta blushed heavily at the male's compliments, and smiled nervously. She was extremely envious of his pokemon, and his luck! Helping out someone and getting such a wonderful pokemon in return... She would have to make sure she was helpful to people as much as she could, maybe good things would come her way too. What was the guy's name? Old man Donophan? Donovan? Oh, something like that...
She watched with a mixture of horror and avid curiosity as the dinosaur stopped off, scattering birds. She wondered what was going on - she'd managed to miss the fact that the Ranger Station gave out pokemon and was completely oblivious. As far as she was concerned, the Ranger - Xavier was it? - hadn't been especially helpful. He hadn't even hinted at the location of the Laboratory!
However, the terrible lizard returned before long, holding something in its claws. Henrietta blinked as the creature was revealed, unsure of what to do. What was that thing? It took her a few moments to even realise it was a pokemon, and a quick glance at the Ranger told her that he didn't really know either. She chuckled nervously, about to say something when the man unclipped a pokeball and handed it to her.
"Here, try and catch it." He said calmly. Henrietta's mouth opened and closed again like a magikarp as her brain worked to try and piece together the bits of information she'd gathered. "Um. What?" She said stupidly, staring at the Ranger. "C-catch it?" She realized she'd already taken the pokeball, clutching it in her pale hands. She looked at it intently, blinking. "D-don't I have to weaken it first?" She asked, "I mean, I don't have any pokemon of my own, so I can't fight it or weaken it. I don't think I'd even be very good at fighting,I get scared at confrontati- Oh." She looked at the Rampardos, "Oh, wait. Zilla weakened it?" She blinked dumbly, before looking nervously at the man.
Right. Catch it. That shouldn't be too hard, right? She stared at the strange thing, wondering where she'd seen it before. It took her a while to remember - it was the Dark Cave in Johto. She'd gone there on a holiday while they were swarming. What were they called..? Dunspace? Dunsparce? Yes, the latter sounded about right... If she remembered rightly, they were extremely good diggers. She studied the pokemon's tail. Yes, that would be very helpful in her search for fossils in deep, dark caves of the region.
Her clammy hands re-gripped the pokeball, gently passing it from hand to hand. Okay, here goes nothing... She gently rolled the orb along the ground. For a fateful moment, she thought she'd rolled it too far to the left. That certainly would be embarrassing. Missing her first capture from a matter of feet away. "I've always wondered how pokeballs work, I suppose I really should find out if I'm going to be using them." She murmured, bashful. She really hoped this worked, she'd be awfully embarrassed if she messed up this early into her collecting career.

The ball rolled toward the little dunsparce before finally touching it. Upon contact, the ball opened up and released a stream of brilliant red light, engulfing the small land snake. Dunsparce was sucked in and the pokeball shook once, twice, three times, before it clicked shut.
"Well, there you have it. A pok'mon, all to yourself. Hopefully this little critter can help you find your fossil," said Xavier, with a smile. He went and picked the pokeball up and handed it to the girl. "I also have some things that might help you out."

ooc; Ooh, an egg move! Thank you! :3
Henrietta watched with a mixture of horror, excitement and nausea as the pokeball hit the Dunsparce and it disappeared inside. The ball twitched for a few moments before falling still. She'd just caught her first pokemon. Her heart thundered as she let out a sigh of relief, almost unable to believe it. She had a pokemon.
"Well, there you have it. A pok'mon, all to yourself. Hopefully this little critter can help you find your fossil," said the Ranger, placing the pokeball into her hands. Henrietta clutched it as if someone would snatch it away from her, "I also have some things that might help you out." He continued, causing Henrietta to gasp as the objects were given to her. She peered into the bag, noting the pokeballs and potions. Oh, they would be very useful indeed.
"Oh, thank you so much!" She squeaked, "I-I really appreciate it, I'm sure it will be super helpful. Thank you for the items as well, I didn't know they were given out, it's really nice of you guys. Um, thank you again!" She rattled, patting the Rampardos again with a longing look before departing and heading towards the first route.
