Was this the direction Rex had told her to take?
Having already surpassed the sign that would have directed her to the lab, Autumn was, quite frankly, lost. Rex, who was the only other Pokémon trainer in their large family, had given her the directions to the lab right before she'd left. He'd suggested writing them down, as they lived quite far from the place to be honest, but she'd tried to be tough and insisted that she could find her own way. "Got any more brilliant ideas, Autumn?" she asked herself sarcastically. It was lonely without her myriad of brothers to poke fun at her mishap, but she figured she'd adjust to the home sickness once she had a Pokémon. It would be her new partner, and she'd love it just like a family member.
After another half hour of walking in what seemed like large circles, she came across some sort of a tent. Autumn briefly recalled her brother saying something about what it would signify. "It likely means there's a Ranger Station there. They help new trainers like the lab does, but you never know what kind of Pokémon you'll get."
This intrigued her.
She hadn't really planned which Pokémon she'd take from the lab, anyways. Autumn didn't know what types she liked, nor did she care about the gender of her new partner. Love them all equally, and they'll stay by your side in return, Rex had told her. So wouldn't this be an interesting path to take? Headfirst into a world of chance and luck? Mhm. She did, in fact, think that this was going to be a good idea. So, instead of asking for directions to the lab, she'd ask for one of the rangers to help her get her first partner. "Excuse me?" she called. It was loud enough that anyone could hear, but it wasn't deafening. "Anyone around? I'm looking to get a Pokémon."

As sunny as it was outside, the tent seemed to be step forward in time to twilight. Hardly and of the lights were on and most of it was clad in shadows. Only one figure was in the room and the only reason one would see it in the darkness of the tent was for the fact that it stood in just the right spot for one of the lamp overhead to reflect off their... attire.
The man was currently staring at Autumn before, without a word, stalking over to a few boxes, grabbing a bag, and putting a few objects into it. It took only a few moments, obviously they knew what they were looking for and had done this more this just a few times. It was pretty apparent that this was a Ranger, however strangely dressed.
Leaving the boxes, the man approached Autumn, holding a bag in front of him. His stern expression he held spoke louder then any words he could have uttered. 'Take the bag now.' He wasn't much of a patient man was he?
x 5 x 3 x1
Turning around, Ranger Bruce headed towards the back flap and with a wave of his arm, he motioned for the girl to follow. He was either always this grumpy or Autumn caught him on a bad day. Most would go with the first however.

Her first thought was that he was insane.
I mean, what else was she to think? Autumn was shifting her weight from left to right foot as she waited for someone to appear. Her brother had told her that the Ranger he'd went to had been nice, kind, and helpful. This had given her an impression that they were particularly normal people, with a normal life, and normal qualities. What else would you expect from a kind, helpful person?
Certainly not Batman.
She had to hold back the urge to laugh at his ridiculous costume. He seemed to be taking himself quite seriously. How the hell had someone like this gotten a job as a ranger? It didn't make any sense at all to her. Look at the guy! He was absolutely ridiculous. Still; if it helped her get a Pokémon...?
He thrust a bag in her direction, and she accepted it almost gingerly, as if worried it might bite. Anything from someone dressed like that had the potential to be dangerous. "Erm... thanks," she said anyways, not sure what else could be said. And now for the Pokemon, right? He motioned for her to follow him, and so she did, however reluctantly.

::starly:: His muscular body of manly masculines flinched as he heard the restraints of a laugh as she first saw his appearance. The face of justice was certainly not something to be laughed at, but instead of reprimanding her he merely scowled with a low rumble escaping his mouth. Ranger Bruce shook his head in annoyance as he guided her out of the "Bat Cave", and he paused right in front of a big field of grass. Lots of Wild Pokemon were known to live around these parts, though as pretty as the tall grass might have been, you never knew when one Pokemon was going to be territorial. "ZU-ZUBAT!" An angry hiss escaped from the depths of the grass, rising up into the sky despite its usual hatred of the sun. Flying frantically around Batman in an effort to find a good place to attack his body of steel, Bruce had already released Robin to face the Zubat. "Robin, go forth." He ordered in an eerie, deep tone. His Starly complied and charged after the Zubat with a Quick Attack, effectively knocking it down from the sky in a one-hit KO. His Starly immediately landed on Batman's shoulder, looking at his victory with pride. Taking out a spare Pokeball, he glanced over at the trainer as if to command her to 'watch and learn' as he enlarged the Pokeball. Once it was nice and big, it was capable of catching anything. He tossed it at the Zubat, and even before the first shake it was caught. "Retrieve." He commanded, and Robin swiftly flew off of his shoulder and picked up the Pokeball with his talons. Flying gracefully over to the new trainer, he carefully dropped it in her hands. You get:
::zubat:: Zubat Level: 5 Attacks: Leech Life, Supersonic, Nasty Plot

This dude was giving off some serious vibes, and Autumn was now almost certain that she didn't like him. Shrugging it off regardless, she followed him out of the tent - though, knowing his obvious obsessions, she doubted he'd call it a tent himself - and wondered what sort of Pokemon could be caught out here. His partner was a Starly. Nice Pokemon, cute, too, although she didn't care so much for cuteness. She preferred tough, strong Pokemon. Autumn planned to train and take on the league one day. This was her goal.
And of course, it's name was Robin.
Holy crap, what level was that Starly? It knocked out the poor Pokemon which burst from the grass; which from it's frantic call had apparently been a Zubat.
Cool.
She liked bats. She wasn't squeamish around them, like most girls. Her brother had a Crobat. She'd always thought it was awesome, and the idea of owning one of her own was quite enthralling. She accepted the Pokeball from the bird Pokemon, nodded her quick thanks to 'Batman' - what was his real name, anyways? - and departed. It was route one next, for them.
