[/tt] Blaze scoffed at the new gym. What was wrong with the old ones? What was wrong with having type-based gyms? Every other gyms were like that. It was probably the professor's new shiny idea to make them more 'unique'. More stupid, if they had bothered to ask him. Especially when they decided it'd be a good idea to just replace all the badges. He picked out a little box from one of his coat pockets and opened it, eyes running over his old badges. He remembered getting his first one, the electric one. It had been such a triumph in the past. Now... this was going to be a piece of cake. " I've come to challenge the gym leader," he said, placing his badge case away and taking out two of his pokeballs. He could send Hades and Hell out, but that would just end the match in a single attack, and possibly give all the spectators a heart attack. Not that he minded. It would surely show his mastery of the fire Pokémon. But... he needed to train up his other Pokémon too, and practice getting the synergy between his two eevees just right, so Moon and Flare it was. " Lunar Flare, get ready to destroy this gym," he said, releasing his Umbreon and Flareon. The two Pokémon stretched as they were released. The dark Pokémon then went over to the fire one and gave her a few words of encouragement. This was her first official battle, and she was a bit nervous for it. But with Moon by her side, everything was going to be alright... right? Moon | M | 36 || Flare | F | 22

{Gym Leader Adrian Appears}
One of the referee's ran over to Adrian's private training room, where she had Cat and Rat lifting weights. Tiny ones, yes, but enough to get their muscles prepared for any battle come there way. The referee was all frantic, making use of his black and white striped shirt as if he was a bee with a 'warning' label on front. She turned to him, annoyed that her special training session had been interrupted.
"Yes, sug? What is it?"
"A challenger has appeared! B-but not just any challenger. It's Professor Blaze!" He cried, waving his green and red flags around like a mad man. Adrian stared at the fat, balding man in shock. Blaze was here to challenge her? That couldn't be right, could it? She glanced over at her Meowth and Rattata, which stopped their work out to look at her curiously. Who was Blaze?
"We can't make our guest wait. Come along, you guys." She held the door open for her two Pokemon, who happily ran out with eagerness for a battle. Right as the referee was about to follow, she immediately slammed the door in his face. Heh. She never did like him. She led her leading team out onto the battlefield, where she sent a confident look over to the fire trainer.
"I've heard much about you, Professor. I'm Adrian, the Electric City Gym Leader. We fight now." She smiled coyly once she saw his two Pokemon out on the field. They were certainly beautiful, weren't they? "First strike! Fake Out on the Flareon, Cat. Rat, get the Umbreon with Quick Attack." She responded with haste, figuring that Blaze had plenty of time to prepare his Pokemon to battle. It was time to see how good he really was. Cat went forth first with speedy legs leading him in a zigzag pattern towards the Flareon, and with claws extended lashed out at her. Rat merely ran as fast as he could, his body becoming a blur as he sped towards the Umbreon.

[/tt] Blaze couldn't help but feel accomplished that people still remembered him as a professor. Maybe these new gym leaders weren't all a bunch of losers the other professors found at random. At the very least, they knew their history and didn't dawdle before a battle. Perfect. He listened to the gym leader's commands and issued his own to counter them. " Flare, you'll have to endure this attack, but try to use a helping hand if you can. Moon, close-ranged dark pulse, as soon as it hits you," he commanded. The Flareon could do nothing but stare as the attack came to her. She tried to dodge it, but the meowth's movement were unpredictable and took the Pokémon by surprise. Flare flinched at the attack and tried to help Moon out and channel her energy to him, but she as already too late and the attack had gone off. The Umbreon had taken the quick attack like a champion, tanking the hit before using his counterattack. His rings glowed blue, the only warning the rattata got before he released a powerful pulse of dark energy. Moon | M | 36 || Flare | F | 22 Flare was hit by Fake Out! Flare flinched. { Gym Leader Adrian }
Following her two speediest moves in the first turn, she thought she made a rather good impression on the Pokemon Professor. Well that was good, making enemies with the strongest trainers in Cheyenne was not on her to-do list. She took another look at the Pokemon that he was using and was instantly able to gage which one was stronger. The Flareon showed more signs of weakness, and not just because of the flinch condition.
Rat was struck hard by the Dark Pulse, unable to dodge at such a close range made him feel every muscle burning spark of damage. He cried out from the intense blast, his body rolling against the battlefield like a rag doll. It was obvious from the one move, he had fainted. Adrian scoffed at this, knowing that she didn't stand much of a chance. Still, she had to try. Returning Rat, she called out her Natu, Bird so keep up with the predator and prey theme.
"Bird, use Leer on both Pokemon." She replied, keeping a watchful eye on the flinching Flareon. It was bound to move at any second, so time couldn't be wasted on it. "Cat, use Scratch. Bird, use your Night Shade on the Umbreon." She brushed back her luscious brown locks of air, looking nervously at the field. She hated losing, she really did. She had to try her best to win anyways, for her Gym's Reputation. Cat made a swift movement towards the Flareon, preparing to scratch her beautiful orange fur to pieces. As Bird leered at her opponents, her eyes started to glow a mysterious black color, finally shooting out a Night Shade at the Umbreon. Luckily, this was a more that no one had resistance to.

[/tt] The first Pokémon went down right away and Blaze felt a surge of adrenaline rush through his veins. One down, and at least two more to go. Maybe he should have done his research to see how many Pokémon this gym leader had? It did not matter, though. The more Pokémon he defeated, the more he would be able to train Flare, who was in desperate need of experience and confidence. The leer attack made both of his Pokémon a bit wary, but Blaze quickly issued his own set of commands. " Moon, Helping Hand. Flare, Quick Attack -- don't let that Scratch hit you," he said. Obediently, his Umbreon lowered his stance a bit to focus his energy toward the fire Pokémon. It did not flinch as the Night Shade washed over him, doing minimal damage. Flare could feel the more experienced fighter's help come her way, energy flowing through her muscles to give her that extra boost of speed she needed to swiftly dodge the scratch by running left, aiming for a hit on the cat's flank. Flare squeezed her eyes shut when she was getting close as she hoped she'd be able to make contact with her opponent. {Gym Leader Adrian}
A helping hand powered Quick Attack? She knew that her Pokémon did not have any other speedy attacks that could be used to avoid that move. Rat could probably dodge with a Quick Attack of his own, but he wasn't able to fight right now. Not after that Dark Pulse, which made Adrian wonder what other moves Blaze had at his command. Cat stumbled forward after the unsuccessful Scratch, and hardly getting time to pinpoint the Flareon's location, she had already tackled into his side. Whatever effects that growl had from earlier certainly weren't working right now. With a swoon, the Meowth fainted from the move.
"...geez. You were brave, Cat." Adrian returned the Meowth into his Pokemon, giving the red top a peck to show her gratitude. Now she was down to her last two Pokemon, and both had a type disadvantage. She took out Worm's Pokeball and released him, a look of vengeance in her eyes. By god, they needed to get at least some decent damage on his team.
"Worm, make a String Shot trap on the ground. Bird, get into the air and attack the Flareon with Night Shade." She commanded, feeling like this was the best strategy she could come up with at the moment. Bird went into the air with haste, leaving Worm to spray a messy String Shot across the ground, looking like a sloppy spider's nest. This would make both opponents a bit slower, or at least she hoped it did. Bird then proceeded to fire off a weak Night Shade at the Flareon, hoping to make an accurate strike.

[/tt] Blaze was almost amused by the strategy the gym leader had gone for. It was creative, that he had to admit, and the string shot on the ground would be a great hassle if his pokemon got caught in it. But if he wanted to avoid the sticky substance all over the battlefield, his pokemon would be pretty limited in actions. "Do not step onto the string shot," he said immediately, lest his pokemon think otherwise. "Moon, protect." Now, how was he going to hit those pesky pokemon, if his movement was restricted to less than half the battleground? Well, he figured that is what special attacks were for. There would not be as accurate this far away, but it was worth a shot. His umbreon had leaped in front of the flareon, taking the hit for the fire pokemon. Both were waiting for their next commands to counterattack, and Blaze delivered.
"Lunar Flare, Special Barrage," he said. Okay, he had made that up on the spot because it sounded kind of cool, and though Moon was starting to act upon his command, Flare was still helplessly clueless. "Ember on the wurmple," he added, just for her. The fire pokemon's face it up in revelation as she charged up a couple of fire balls before shooting it across the string shot trap. While her ember flew across stage, Moon unleashed her own attack, another Dark Pulse directed towards the flying pokemon.

{Gym Leader Adrian}
Raising a worried eyebrow at the strange attack name, Adrian instantly shifted her arms so they crossed against her breasts protectively. Whatever was about to happen, she knew that she wasn't bound to like the sight. She watched the String Shot trap as it suddenly caught aflame, leading straight over to her own Wurmple and catching him before he could flee. With a pained cry, the Wurmple rolled about on the ground until the flames went out.
A weak squeak came out of his mouth as he collapsed from the damage, though he was plenty relieved that he wasn't on fire anymore. Several of the engulfed string shot on the ground became dangerously close and beneficially close to Moon and Flare respectfully. Bird had tried to fly away from the Dark Pulse, but its speed and accuracy easily shot it out of the air and onto one of the charred string shot. It was safe to say that it had fainted.
"Hmth. Clearly I'm no match for you. Perhaps you'll find more of a challenge at the next Gym." She replied half-heartedly, not wanting to hear any smug remarks from the fire trainer. That would've only put salt on her damaged wounds that covered her pride. Walking across the Gym Floor with a feminine sway of her hips, she handed him the colorful Symmetry Badge.

[/tt] Blaze gave a little smirk. Though the burning of the web had been accidental, he would make it look as if it had been planned. It had looked cool, so why not? "You did wonderful," he told Flare before returning her into his pokeball. "Same as always, Moon." The umbreon looked at its trainer and blinked before he was also returned in a flash of light.
Once his Pokémon were carefully slipped into his coat, he took the first badge from the gym leader. "Perhaps. Maybe next time I drop by, the match'll be a bit fairer," he told the gym leader. "Though I would suggest going back to the old theme. It was more of a challenge," he added with a little smirk. He took out a little case, where his previous badges, never completed, were pinned into the velvet backing. Underneath the original thunder badge the Symmetry one was placed. "Have fun with the rest of the loser trainers that pass by," he told Adrian, before leaving the gym. His had no more purpose in being here.
