Nathara thought for a moment as the hoppip began to walk off. This pokemon was hungry, and rather defenseless. There had to be something she could to do help...
"Wait, I think I can help you find some food."
Well, she didn't have any food herself, but there had to be some berries nearby.
<Maybe some Chesto berries?>
Now that the situation had grown more serious, Razel had started to consider an answer to this problem. Chesto berries weren't very fun to eat if you didn't like dry flavors, but at least they had a lot of flesh to eat. However, none of the trio remembered seeing any berries along the path.
<Or Pecha berries!>
Since the hoppip was no-longer bouncing on him, Tego flew down lower and joined his two friends, adding his own suggestion.

The Hoppip was slowly picking her way in the direction of the wind, trying not to be blown away before she decided which direction she wanted to take. There were many advantages to being so light, but one disadvantage had to be the wind, when it didn't agree with your travel plans. One big gust and - whoosh - she'd be off, soaring through the skies with no idea where she'd end up next. It wasn't always as fun as it could be. Sometimes she ended up in some very odd situations.
She stopped and turned when the trainer spoke to her. Frowning lightly, a little hesitant to believe someone that made a habit of catching and taming wild Pokemon, she considered her options. <That would be nice...> she mused, though still doubtful. She'd lost her lunch, after all, and she was hungry, but that trainer with the Yanma, the one that had tried to catch her, had seemed alright at first.
<Okay,> she sighed. <I guess if you could help, that would be alright. But no pulling any funny stuff!> Her dramatic seriousness returned for a moment as she rounded on the trainer, as if threatening.

"Of course not. I just want to help you find some lunch. I wouldn't mind some food myself."
What now? Where are some berries? Really, she was just as ill-equipped to find food as the hungry grass pokemon.
<Yeah, I'm hungry too!>
As if to prove his point, Razel's stomach growled. Tego nodded in agreement.
<Same here! I could really go for a Pecha berry right now.>
"Alright. Tego, you know this route pretty well, right? Do you know where some berries are?"
<I...>
They both stared at him expectantly.
<...don't know.>
How could a pokemon who lived in this forest not know where a food supply was?
"Tego, how is that possible?"
<Come on, Tego! We're all hungry!>
<I'm sorry guys, but I just wandered around until I found something to eat. I never needed to remember anything.>
Nathara sighed, and chewed her lip for a few seconds.
"Well, we'll just have to do the same. Lets go look for some berries."
She continued down the path, scanning the undergrowth for fruiting bushes. Razel followed, and Tego hovered a little ways away, looking deeper into the forest with his compound eyes.

The Hoppip, or Super Dude as she called herself so affectionately, waited for a moment, then nodded. After all, if they were both hungry, then they were in the same boat. But she wouldn't hesitate to use her super awesome powers of saving the world running away with the wind if they tried to catch her, or something. The human then began to converse with her Pokemon, and the Hoppip listened to make sure they weren't planning anything.
From what she could hear, however, they were only talking about how to get some berries. This was normal and acceptable enough. Like Razel and Nathara, the Hoppip assumed that Yanma should know the area well enough to be able to locate some food pretty quick. But, of course...
Nothing.
She resisted the urge to sigh pitifully. After all, despite the bug Pokemon's incompetence, it wasn't like she herself could do anything to help. They all decided that they would just wander around until they found something. <I guess I'll come along, as well.> After all, they'd said they were going to help her find lunch.

Finding something to eat proved to be much more challenging than was first believed. They had been walking for several minutes, all three straining their eyes for a hint of something edible.
"Maybe we should leave the path. There has to be berries deeper in the forest."
<Yeah, that's a good idea. Tego can keep us from getting lost in the underbrush.>
Nathara's mind suddenly came upon an idea. She smiled, and pulled out two pokeballs.
"Or, we could ask these two."
Enlarging the two spheres, she released Vexant and the sentret, whom she had decided to name Irene.
"Do either of you know where we can find some berries?"
Vexant didn't answer, only giving his trainer a defiant look before starting to scratch idly at the ground. Irene thought for a moment.
<Berries...there were berry bushes at home.>
"Do you know where that is? Maybe they would lend us a few."
The question sounded dumb even as she said it. Irene didn't know where her home was.
<Nope, I''m not sure where home is. Sorry.>
"It's okay."
Calling both pokemon back into their balls, she returned them to her bag.
"That wasn't very helpful. Should we just leave the trail, and hope for the best?"
<Anything is better than starving to death. Lets go!>
Razel vanished into the bushes, leaving Nathara, Tego, and the hoppip in the clearing.

Hoppip floated there, unsure if she should follow after him or not. He did look like a capable pokemon, able to take care of himself. The little pink beast sighed and decided to count clouds idly, awaiting the sneazel's return with a rumbling tummy.
In the woods that Razel dissapeared into, a multitude of things happened. There was a sweet smell coming from just ahead, though sounds of a battle were also coming from that direction. From the left of the sneasel there was a rustling, and the smell of something sour. From yet another area, there was a bitter smell, though it was utterly silent. And finally, from between the bitter and sweet scents, there came a wafting, spicy aroma that tickled one's nose - though it was a tad far away to see what exactly was happening over there.
Which area will Razel check?

Nathara considered following Razel into the underbrush, but her rustling would probably disturb any wild pokemon living there. She sent a pleading look at Tego. The yanma nodded, and flew into the forest.
Razel had been deciding which scent to follow when the sounds of a battle reached his ears from the direction of the sweet smell. He followed the sound, curious about what was happening.
Tego flew through the trees, attempting to locate his partner. Soon, he found the sneasel jumping through the bushes.
<Razel! Nathara se->
<Shh! Do you hear that?>
Tego listened. There was a disturbance from close-by that almost sounded like a battle.
<Is there a battle going on?>
<I think so. Lets go take a look.>
Together, they continued towards the source of the noise.

Just...just what in tarnation was going on here? Two Wild Pokémon were having a fierce stare off with each other, unfazed by the other's strength. As the shaggy looking beast to the right began to move a little bit closer, the adorable bell shaped creature let loose with a Growl attack.
Shrinking backwards from the painfully loud noise, the Zigzagoon retaliated with a Growl attack of her own. The two girls had been going at this Growl war for quite some time, all over the three Oran Berries that were placed on a near-by rock.
<I found them first, therefore, they are all mine!> The Zigzagoon panted, her voice a bit sour from all of that growling. Neither Pokémon had any visible injuries, but apparently had been going at this for quite some time.
<What are you talking about? They were just here on this rock, all by themselves! I found them first!> The Chingling challenged back, also feeling her voice weaken after being used so often.

Razel and Tego watched the exchange, both at a loss for what to do.
<Tego...I'm not sure what to do about this.>
The sneasel said this in a quiet whisper, as to not disturb the two pokemon.
<Me neither. Should we go ask Nathara?>
<Maybe, but she can't come here. They would here her rustling in the bushes.>
<Alright, I'll just ask her for an opinion.>
The bug pokemon flew off, leaving Razel to watch the two arguers.
Tego buzzed through the trees, speeding towards the place he had left his trainer and the hoppip. Finally, he spotted the two standing on the path.
<Nathara! I need to ask you something!>
The human turned, surprised to find her partner back so quickly.
"What? Is Razel okay?"
<He's fine, but there are two pokemon battling over some Oran berries. It looks like they've been growling at each-other for some time. What should we do?>
Nathara thought for a moment.
"How many berries were there?"
<Um...three?>
"Then tell them to take one each, and that you'll keep the third for yourself. If they don't agree to that, have Razel cut the third in half, so that both pokemon can have the same amount."
<Oh, I didn't think of that! Thank you!>
The yanma left again, hurrying back to the clearing.

Back in the clearing, the two Pokemon had been too intent on their Growl war to notice the intrusion to their fight. This likely wasn't going to get them anywhere soon, but the two were oblivious to this fact, each intent on a single goal; take the berries for their own. The Zigzagoon however, was clearly getting more and more irritated by the second. It clearly wasn't going to be long until the fight took another, more violent turn.
Perhaps luckily, it was at that moment that the Chingling noticed another's presence. She turned away from the Zigzagoon, who looked indignant until she also noticed the disturbance. With a gasp, she quickly rushed over to the berries and stood in front of them, puffing out her patterned fur in an attempt to look intimidating. <He must want the berries!> she said sharply.
Chingling also quickly made her way over to guard the precious Orans, now growling at the Yanma instead of the Pokemon beside her. <Nuh uh, buddy. We found them first.>
::zigzagoon:: ::chingling:: Erm... what an odd turn of events.

Oh...this isn't good.
Both of the wild pokemon had noticed Razel, and were now growling at him instead of each-other.
<Wait! I'm not here to steal your berries! I was wondering if there might be a way I can help solve your argument.>
Unless they were both low-level pokemon, there was no way that Razel could beat the two in a battle. He could only hope that Tego returned soon.
Tego flew frantically through the trees, knowing that at any second the two pokemon could discover Razel. That could be disastrous.
He had been moving at top-speed for a couple minutes when he realized that a tree up ahead looked identical to one he had passed earlier. The yanma stopped, and hovered in place, looking around at the surrounding forest.
He was lost.

The two pokemon stared at the intruder, neither of them wanting to give away their berries -- though whose it really belonged to was still to be figure out.
<He's lying,> said the Chingling. <He just wants a berry, don't you? You're probably just another one of those tame pokemon, unable to search for food on your own.> The bell pokemon's voice chimed and jingled, a beautiful sound, normally, but it became distorted when she was angry.
The zigzagoon remained silent, carefully examining Razel. Her fur was still spiked up aggressively and she was ready to attack at any moment. However, a way to end this argument was kind of appealing to her. She did not think she could beat the Chingling, who was known in this part of the woods to fight a bit dirty, at times.
::Zigzagoon:: ::Chingling:: Try to reason with them? Or run away?

Razel's pride smarted at the insult. Pushing his anger down, he was able to notice that the zigzagoon seemed more open to the idea of a solution.
<I'm perfectly capable of finding food. In fact, I smelled many different kinds of berries just before I found you two fighting. If one of you agrees to let the other take those Oran berries, I can show them where some more are.>
Well, at least he thought those other scents were berries. There was no way to be sure, because he hadn't searched for the sources of the other scents before coming here. There wasn't a reason to let these pokemon see his uncertainty, however, so he kept his face neutral.
Tego, growing frustrated with his predicament, flew upwards and over the tree-tops. In the distance, he could spot the path. Knowing now where he was, the yanma dove back below the leaves and started off in the direction he thought knew Razel was.

Chingling was still convinced that this was a trap. What if this idiot forced her to let the Zigzagoon, or worse, himself, take the berries, and then left her with nothing? She was terribly hungry, and it wasn't fair. She'd found them. The Zigzagoon had said that she'd been here first, but the chime Pokemon would deny that until her last breath! Those berries were rightfully hers! And she was willing to fight for them, if need be!
Sensing the battle-hungry personality of her unwilling companion, the Zigzagoon decided to try and end this with the least bloodshed possible. <Listen,> she said, to both Razel and the Chingling. <I have a family to feed, and->
<Oho!> Chingling challenged. <Bet you don't! Bet you just wanted them aaaall to yourself! Well I won't have it! I->
The Zigzagoon growled sharply to cut off her opponent. <Would you let me finish?> she snapped. The bell Pokemon glared, but nodded to show that she could continue. <As I said, I have a family to feed. But I also have a family to get back to, and I intend to do that in one piece, thank you very much. I don't want a battle. You can have the berries.>
Seizing the opportunity before it could fade, Chingling made off with the three Orans in the blink of an eye. Zigzagoon sighed, then glanced at Razel. <I really do have a family. Might you show me those berries you spoke of?>
::chingling:: Chingling is leaving! Interfere?
::zigzagoon:: Zigzagoon has requested your help. Accept?

Razel nodded, relieved that the situation was finally diffused.
<Of course! They're back this way.>
He gestured back in the direction he had originally come from, and at that moment Tego burst through the underbrush.
<Razel! I'm sorry I took so long, I got lost. Are you okay? Where is the chingling?>
<The chingling took the berries and left. I'm fine. Actually, I was about to show this zigzagoon where some berries are.>
<But we don't kn->
The look Razel shot a him stopped the yanma mid-sentence.
<Oh, right! Those berries.>
<Exactly. Let's go, then.>
The two pokemon dodged through the underbrush until they reached the place Razel had first smelled the four different scents.

The Zigzagoon was overwhelmed by the various scents around her. <Oh my. There are so many different smells here.> She scampered off in the direction of one smell. This one is bitter. And... and this one is sour, she exclaimed as she caught the second scent. <And... and I don't know how to describe this one.> Her nose wrinkled as she caught wind of the spicy smell.
<But I don't see any berries around here.> The Zizagoon's face crinkled in an expression of worry as her tiny, spiky head shot from side to side, looking for berries that weren't there. < Do you think someone ate them while you were away. She seemed crestfallen at the very thought.

<Oh...um...maybe we should follow the scents farther, and see where they lead.>
Razel looked to his companion.
<Could you search around and see where each scent goes?>
<Certainly!>
Tego decided to follow the sour one first, flying below the branches in order to see more clearly. If this sour smell was a berry, then it was most-likely an Aspear. They were the most common sour berry in this forest. He didn't much like sour foods, so he was half-hoping that there wasn't anything there.

The foul smell was indeed an Aspear berry, possessed by a tiny Oddish that was carrying it in both hands as though it was a great weight, which it probably was to such a tiny Pokémon. He was probably carrying his towards its den to eat later.
As he saw the Zigzagoon emerge from a cluster of grass and weeds, he squeaked in shock, dropped the berry, ran to escape, but slipped on the berry. For a brief moment, it was caught in a comedic roll as it desperately tried to keep its balance, riding the berry like a spherical unicycle, then it was hurled into the air with a squeal of terror, and landed on the Aspear, crushing it and sending a spray of yellow juice in all directions.
Zigzagoon raised her paw, splattered with Aspear juice, and licked it. Her face crinkled in an almost pained expression as she shuddered. <Good grief. Why would anyone want to taste that?" she asked, flicking her furry paw to get the remaining droplets of juice off.
Meanwhile, the Oddish sat on the flattened, pulverized husk of his berry, head bowed in sorrow. <Oh no. Oh no no no no no." He shook his tiny, leafy head. "This is not good. Not good at all."

Tego watched in shock as the oddish squished his berry, and then began to grieve for his lost fruit.
<Oh dear, I'm so sorry! Er...how about we help you find another berry?>
How much worse could this situation get? There were now three wild pokemon, hungry and looking for food, not to mention Razel and himself. They had to find something soon...
Razel stood alone for a few seconds, then decided to follow Tego and the zigzagoon towards the sour smell. When he reached the scene that had unfolded, it took mere moments for his mind to piece together what had happened.
<This isn't good.>
His dismayed comment wasn't directed at anyone in particular, and so received no reply.

The Zigzagoon was too distracted to care about the situation, swiping her tongue around her mouth with a screwed up expression to try and rid herself of the sour taste. <My, my, that really is unpleasant!> she commented, not liking it at all. I mean, alright. She was a little sympathetic with the Oddish's plight, it really was terrible to be the cause of your own berry's demise, but really! She had a family to feed, and they certainly weren't making any progress just standing around.
The two Pokemon, Tego and Razel, offered to help the Oddish next. Zigzagoon held back a sarcastic remark. After all, it was only fair. If they were going to help one Pokemon, they had to help them all, didn't they? Tame Pokemon. They were too nice for their own good sometimes. She sighed slightly, then resigned herself to continuing the trek.
Oddish, meanwhile, glanced at the Sneazel when it spoke. <Y-You'd help me?> he said in surprise. He'd never seen a Pokemon like him, looked kind of scary, to be honest, but... they couldn't be all bad if they wanted to help him find another berry. <Oh, thank you! I don't know what I would have done with->
<Yes, yes, we get it!> Zigzagoon insisted. <But really, can we start searching? Before someone else eats all the berries?>
The Oddish fell silent and waited for the tame Pokemon's reply.
