Nathara gave a polite smile, and nodded to the two rodent pokemon.
"It was our pleasure to help."
Tego, seeming quite proud of himself at the complement, started to do aerial acrobatics out of pure happiness. Razel, however, picked up on the larger sentret's expression, and wasn't pleased in the least. He jumped so that he was standing between the family and the underbrush. Nathara was baffled, and Tego stopped what he was doing, almost forgetting to flap his wings.
"Razel!"
The sneasel ignored his trainer. Instead, he was locking a fierce eye on the father.
<This daughter of yours is very special. She has hopes and dreams, which is more than most wild pokemon can claim. I won't stop you from leaving, but you better not stop her from doing what she wants with her life.>

The father Sentret's eyes narrowed at the Sneasel's outburst, stopping immediately in his path and scowled at the nosy dark type. Honestly, why did tame Pokémon have to get so involved in the lives of others? They had no business interfering with the way he raised his children!
<I realize that she's "special", but it's been my job since she has been born to make sure she survives out here. When she's old enough to pursue her dreams, then fine, but right now, it's my job to make sure she stays alive.> He argued, standing protectively in front of his daughter like a proud parent. It was true that she was young, but if she was able to last this long in the wild all by herself, completely lost...
<O-oh. You guys...you don't have to go this far.> The young Sentret blushed at the statement, feeling an extreme boost of confidence from the Sneasel's words. These were good things to remember, but she was starting to feel distressed because her father was starting to get angry. He could be quite unreasonable when he was angry.
<Go sit down.> He ordered his daughter, staring the Sneasel down with a determined glare. He would've told her to go back to the nest, but she would hardly be able to pinpoint the nest's general area, or thereabouts. The female Sentret obediently sat down, completely worried about the escalating situation.

This wasn't good. Neither pokemon seemed ready to back down, and Nathara wasn't sure how strong this sentret was.
"Razel, he is her father..."
Again, the dark type ignored her.
<She seemed to be doing a fine job of staying alive while lost.>
Razel flexed his claws, and he had to restrain himself from swiping the rodent across the face.
Nathara searched her mind desperately for a way to calm this situation. Eventually, she gave up on the search, and knelt next to the smaller sentret.
"Just how strong is your father? Razel's fast, but he's only level seven."
This was said in a quiet whisper, in order to not alert the other two pokemon.

<That's because you found her before anything could happen, and I thank you for that.> The male Sentret growled, feeling the fur on his shoulders bristle with agitation. Heck, he was a wild Pokemon. If he was frustrated, then it was perfectly fine for him to settle things out with a Pokemon Battle. It was only the civil thing to do, right?
<If you think that you're so right, then how about you show me.> He threatened, showing his claws to show what he meant by those words. There was no doubt now; the Sneasel was challenged to a Pokemon Battle.
::Sentret::
Accept or Reject? [/sup] <Um...my dad is really strong. I don't really get the level thing, but he's like, twice as strong as me.> She explained to the best of her ability, thinking that the term 'level' was some exotic people term. It was hard to explain how strong a Pokemon was, all she knew was that there were only a couple of Wild Pokemon that her dad couldn't fight in the area. ::sentret:: [/font]

Razel was too angry for the thought to register that this wild pokemon was probably much stronger than himself.
<Alright, I will!>
Without any other warning, he sprang at the sentret with a Scratch attack, aiming for his over-sized middle.
Nathara stood again, and called Tego over, concern for the health of both battlers gnawing at her mind.
"Tego, if things get too out of hand..."
<I've got it!>
The yanma started to hover over the enraged pair, ready to intervene if needed.

After seeing the Sneasel charge forth at a relatively slow pace, the Sentret had plenty of time to defend himself by getting off of his fluffy tail and curling up into a Defense Curl. He tucked his head behind his furry tail, which the Sneasel's long claws had managed to strike. It hadn't hurt as much as it could have, which was good for the Sentret. Grunting from the blow, he swiftly removed his tail and lunged forth at the Sneasel with a Scratch attack of his own.
He was mostly aiming at the Sneasel's face, but if his opponent moved away, it was much more likely for him to scratch at the dark type's chest. Once they were engaged in close combat like this, it was hard to avoid much of anything. That was mainly the Sentret's strategy, if he knew that he was stronger. As of now, he was still sizing the Sneasel up.
::sentret:: Uses Defense Curl and Scratch
<Well...at least give my papa a fair fight.> She tilted her head towards the Yanma in case he did decide to intervene. She still felt unsure about this whole situation, and really wished that it hadn't existed at all. Was it all really necessary? Did that Sneasel have to care about her this much?

Sharp claws raked Razel across the face before he could react, and pain seared through the sensitive skin. He didn't stop, however. After sending a fierce Leer in his opponent's direction, he unleashed another Scratch attack, this time at the sentret's side.
"Of course. I don't want either of them getting hurt. Tego will intervene any way he needs to...even if he has to attack Razel."
The thought sickened Nathara. Taking down her own Pokémon? It was completely unheard of. If it came to that, however...
What had caused this surge of anger and protectiveness in the sneasel, anyway? The daughter sentret was young, and her father seemed concerned, if a bit disapproving. What would cause anyone to behave in such a manner? She felt like she should know, but the answer didn't come.

The young Sentret nodded nervously. I mean, she and her father were constantly at odds, but she didn't want him getting too injured over this. But Razel was so brave, defending her like this. It was just so kind, and she didn't understand what she'd done to deserve such friendliness from those she had just met. Still, she hoped that Razel didn't do too much damage to her father anyways.
::sentret::
The Leer attack startled the chubby father figure into dropping his defense, and he was therefore inable to dodge out of the way from the next attack. Dealing critical damage, in addition to the extra damage due to the dropped defense, it managed to quite significantly put a dent in the father Sentret's health. But still, he had been raised to protect and defend, no matter what the cost was on his own health, and so he wouldn't give up on this.
Narrowing his eyes, the Sentret curled himself into a ball to get his defense back up, seeing as his opponent had lowered it. Then, without warning, he uncurled and quickly launched himself toward the Sneazel in a Quick Attack.
::sentret:: Sentret used Defense Curl and Quick Attack on Razel!

As the battle continued, Nathar became more and more nervous. Just how far was this going to go? Above the battle, Tego as hovering tensely, not quite sure if he should intervene yet.
Razel's confidence in his ability to win spiked when he noticed how much damage his attack had done. This stole away whatever slim chance he would have had at dodging the sentret. The move hit him square in the chest, and he was sent staggering backwards, the breath knocked out of him. He was almost too winded to strike back.
After the sneasel recovered from the hard hit, his mind had cleared slightly. Instead of charging back at his opponent, Razel used Reflect, then slipped into a defensive position.

Sentret's eyes widened with fear as she saw both the Sneazel and her father had taken significant damage from this turn. She bit her lip and hugged her tail nervously, subconsciously curling into a ball as one might do while in battle.
::sentret::
Sensing defeat, seeing as his injuries were deeply sapping on his strength, the father Sentret backed down with a breathy sigh. He had been too confident, assuming that his strength would be greater than that of the Sneazel's. But even though he had a little bit of fight left in him, he didn't want to be knocked unconscious. His family wouldn't know what had happened to him, and he still didn't really trust this trainer not to toss a Pokeball at him if he fainted.
<Alright, you win,> he told Razel, still breathing slightly hard from the exertion of the fight. <But what, exactly, has this accomplished?>
::sentret:: Sentret has been defeated. Razel gains 1 level.

(OOC: That's fine! ;D)
Nathara gave a sigh of relief, some of the tension easing away. No-one had been knocked unconscious. Tego seemed just as relieved. The yanma flew back down to eye level.
Razel stood silently for several seconds, searching for a reply. What had this battle gotten him? Why had he stopped the sentret in the first place?
He had intervened because he cared about the young normal type.
Why had he fought, though? This victory didn't change anything.
No. It showed both sentret that he was serious.
<I'm sorry, but I just wanted to prove that I meant what I said.>
Razel walked over to his trainer without another word.
"I think we should be going now...I'm sorry if we've caused any trouble."
All three seemed hesitant to leave though, as if the situation was still unresolved.

The Sentret was relieved that the fighting was over. She hadn't wanted her father to lose, but she hadn't wanted Razel to be defeated, either. At least this way, both Pokemon still remained conscious. Razel explained his reasoning, and she looked away from them shyly. Too nice. She still didn't understand what she'd done to deserve anything like this.
<T-Thank you,> she said shyly, when they said that it was time for them to leave. But they didn't seem to want to leave just yet. Come to think about it, the Sentret wasn't entirely sure she wanted them to go. Bounding over to her father, she leaned over and whispered something in his ear. He seemed surprised, but after a long moment, he nodded slightly and began to whisper back. Then, although still shy, the female Sentret approached the Pokemon and their trainer nervously.
<W-Well... I was wondering if... if, you know... I could come with you?> She'd never had friends before. Everyone always got annoyed by her lack of directional senses. <I-It's almost time for us Sentret to part from our family anyways, and well... I'd love to go on an adventure, if you'd like the company.> She wasn't too keen on the fighting bit, but it would be okay if she had friends to help her, right?
::sentret:: Sentret has made an offer! Accept/Reject?

Nathara watched as the two sentret conversed in quiet tones, unable to hear what was said. What could the possibly be discussing? Tego refrained himself from drifting closer.
Finally, the young normal type asked to accompany them. Nathara smiled warmly, Tego resumed his aerial acrobatics, and Razel was shocked into silence.
"Of course you can come! We would love your company!"
While she pulled out an empty pokeball, Razel found his voice.
<You really want to come? That's...excellent!>
<Yeah, welcome to the group!>
The ball was now resting in the human's hand, Nathara waiting for the pokemon to finish talking before she sealed the partnership. Once Tego finished, she enlarged the sphere, and threw it at her new companion.

For a moment, the young Sentret was worried that they might refuse. But Nathara wasn't so unkind, and she recieved a warm response to her request. Seeing Nathara pull out a Pokeball, the young female turned to her father. <Tell the others where I've gone,> she requested, then waved her tail in farewell as her father nodded and bounced into the brush, likely to return to the rest of the family and report their loss. However, it was actually a good thing for all of them. No more getting lost.
<Thanks,> she said, somewhat shyly, when both Razel and Tego welcomed her to the team. But it wasn't fully confirmed yet.
When the sphere closed around her, she was a little surprised at how roomy it was, but she didn't fight it. The Pokeball remained stationary for a long moment, then emitted a soft noise to signify the capture.

After the pokeball clicked shut, Nathara crouched down and picked it up, stowing her new companion safely away.
As soon as we reach a new place, I'll bring you out.
With that silent promise in her mind, she gave Razel a quick visual examination. The sneasel seemed fine, except for a few cuts and bruises.
"Razel."
He gave his trainer a look that may have been apologetic, if not for the barely-hiden smile.
<I'm sorry about that.>
"No you're not!"
Nathara couldn't help but laugh as she said this. How could she possibly stay mad with her pokemon? He had almost gotten into some serious trouble, though. Maybe next time she could bring herself to be a little more strict.
"Tego, do you know how much farther this route goes?"
<I don't have a clue, but we still have plenty of time until dark. We should be fine.>
"Alright. Razel, are you alright to keep going?"
The dark type nodded, and started walking down the path, followed by Tego. Nathara came last, more relaxed than she had been this morning.

<I am the one that everyone fears. The pinkest of the pink, the best flier of the fliers! The superest of the super! Who could it be? Super Dude!> A young, female Hoppip floated over Nathara and her gang. The gentle breeze had given her the gift of flight, and she was quite easily maneuvering in the air given the direction of the wind. Lifting her body up, she caught onto another current and started to ride that, going in the opposite direction.
<Methinks I've spotted a villain in the act of villainy!> She cried, watching the human and her team for several moments before deciding to do something about them. Gathering up her courage, she descended on the weakest looking member of the trainer's crew. Out of the three; Nathara, Razel, and Tago, she decided to go with the skinny bug Pokémon. Sure, the Yanma was bigger than her, but something about its manner didn't seem right.
<Charge!> She squealed, trying to land a Splash attack on the Yanma's head. All that really did was make her jump up and down repeatedly on the flying type's head, if she managed to hit him.

The silence was broken by a strange hoppip, who was floating overhead. The grass pokemon introduced herself as "Super Dude", and then proceeded to Splash atop Tego's head. He wasn't being injured at all, although he was a little confused. Nathara was feeling even more confused. A hoppip named Super Dude was attacking Tego with Splash, because she suspected him of villainy?
Razel wasn't going to be of any help in this situation, because he was laughing so hard that it was difficult to breath. Who could blame him, though? This entire situation was absolutely absurd.
Is Splash the only move she knows? That makes "Super Dude" a little defenseless. If it comes to a Pokemon Battle, then it'll be an easy win.
She would like to avoid such an uneven battle.
"S...Super Dude, what did Tego do to warrant an attack?" Could it really be considered an attack? However, there was nothing to gain by insulting the pokemon.

<Avast! Does the villain's companions question this villain's guilt?> The Hoppip cried, finishing another hop on top of the Yanma's head. If they really were that oblivious, then she was more than happy to tell them what had happened. She glanced down at the confused Yanma's expression, wondering why he didn't recognize her.
<You see, I'm not from around here. I'm from a place near a big ol' building, and lots of humans in red go running around to catch us.> She started off with her tale, crossing her arms in a 'super serious manner', although she only looked incredibly cute. Her tail flickered back and forth, as if she couldn't control its movements.
<So yeah. I was minding my own business, and this Yanma tries to catch me. A human's Yanma. He was right about to steal me away, when WHOOSH! The wind saved me.> She explained, making a wind sound effect with her mouth as if to demonstrate it's strength.
<Long story short, I lost my lunch.> She concluded, now hopping up and down on the Yanma's back, as if that would solve all of her problems. It looked like 'Super Dude' had a grudge. Possibly against the wrong Yanma.

Nathara listened carefully to the hoppip's tale. By the time her story was finished, most of the trainer's questions had been answered.
"You're from the Ranger Station, aren't you?"
While researching about the life of a pokemon trainer, she had learned that there were two official ways to get your first pokemon: Ask the local professor for one, or go to the Ranger Station. She had considered doing the latter, but the unpredictability of the pokemon you would receive scared her away from that choice.
"Well, you've got the wrong yanma, unfortunately. I've never been to the Ranger Station, nor have I ever tried to catch a hoppip."
Tego was still hovering in place, letting the grass pokemon bounce on his back. The "attacks" didn't hurt at all, so there was no reason to move. Razel seemed to have finally composed himself, because he was listening to the conversation intently.

<R-really?? The Hoppip appeared shocked and surprised at that statement, slowly backing up as if the truth of the matter was a demon. She ended up walking to the tip of the Yanma's tail as if it was a plank, and without realizing it, walked right off of it.
With her light body, she actually floated back and forth like a feather being tossed into the air. Eventually, she hit the ground nice and soft, completely painless. Sometimes being a lightweight came in handy, which was made apparent from the potentially dangerous fall.
<B-but...I lost my lunch.> She looked down at her stomach, which in turn, replied with a growl. Indeed, her story had some truth in it after all. She sighed pitifully, if this hadn't been that Yanma, then obviously he didn't have her lunch. With another sad, exaggerated sigh, she walked off.
