Cleon laughed. ”I don’t think you’ll be able to stop him from zipping around. ‘Theus is even worse, you remember?” While Prometheus was not particularly interested in spooking other humans, he was slightly bothersome. But only slightly.
Okay, that last comment was far too tantalizing for Cleon to resist. Fine. He’d just give in and request another battle. Target would love having some more target practice, and Helix would be an incredibly fun challenge for the tadpole Pokemon. ”Care to see just how strong Helix has become?” Cleon asked, leaning up from his comfortable position on the ground. There was still plenty of light, as the sun was still just above the horizon. It would not be a repeat of their last match… unless it managed to linger on well past sunset. He grinned at Quinn, slightly sheepish as he saw the glint in her eye.
She could read him far too well, and they’d only met once. Ah, well. She wanted a rematch, too.

There. She'd done it; she'd cornered him! Pleased with herself, and satisfied that she'd fulfilled her trivial little task, Quinn was now free to do whatever she liked. He'd fallen straight into her silly little trap. "Let's do it." She grinned at her rival, before picking herself up and walking several metres away from him to create a little battle space. "Helix, go." She said it calmly, collected; Helix, who needed to release all his built-up energy, twirled excitedly in front of the blonde, surveying his potential opponents; was it gonna be Prometheus, his old foe, or the new little Pokemon, the Poliwag? He hoped it would be the latter; it would be embarrassing if the Zubat made him bite the dust again, and besides, that little swirly Pokemon seemed quite interesting. "Seeing as I started last time, you start." Quinn called across to Cleon, tapping her found against the ground as she waited.

Yes, Cleon was more than aware of the smug grin sent his way, and he couldn't help but be slightly annoyed. But only a little. At least she hadn't declined his challenge; that would have just been disappointing, and more than a tiny bit awkward. Leaping to his feet with a surprising amount of grace for such a scrawny individual, Cleon brushed some dirt off of his backside before taking a few feet aside. He would rather not have the tent destroyed in the fight; best to move a few feet away.
"Sounds good. Target?" Hearing his name, the Poliwag poked his head above the surface of the pond.
<Do I have to get out, then?>
"Nah, you're chill for now. You do have a new practice partner, though. Bubble time?"
<Bubble time!> the small tadpole squeaked. He dipped under the surface of the pond for a moment, and when he came back up he shot out a stream of bubbles towards Helix.

Bubble time? Quinn suppressed a laugh, grinning sheepishly; how cute! The little Poliwag was just a little blue blob as it dipped under the water; then, out of nowhere, pow! A stream of bubbles shot towards Helix; instinctively, the Ghost zoomed away from the attack, dodging it cleanly. The bubbles flew past the spot where he had previously been, before popping cheerily. "Alright, Helix. Screech and Shadow Sneak." Both Quinn and her Shuppet were bored shitless, with only having this combo of attacks at their disposal; and he wasn't going to learn any new ones yet. It made for dull battling. As instructed, Helix firstly let out a piercing wail, before extending his shadow and whipping behind the Poliwag, intending to strike his opponent straight on the back.

Screech and Shadow Sneak. So far, no new tricks. But that didn’t mean they weren’t there. In any case, Cleon was happy to help Helix grow stronger so he could learn more advanced techniques. Still, that Shadow Sneak was a pain to deal with; he hoped that Target would manage to figure out how it worked before it was too late.
Target was underwater when the screech rang out through the air, though even under its protection he could feel the water vibrating uncomfortably around his ears. Not phased by the wail, he popped out of the water to hear Cleon’s next order just in time for the Shadow Sneak to come up behind him and knock him forward, closer to shore. With a squeak, the Poliwag jumped onto the bank, close enough to the water to dive should he deem it necessary, but still on firm ground.
”Target, let’s try a Hypnosis, go!”
Eager to try out his new move, the tadpole focused on his opponent, then began spinning the spiral on his belly in an attempt to force the Shuppet to fall asleep.

The attack didn't seem to make any imprint on the Poliwag whatsoever - what a tough little thing! It was cute though, like an adorable little beach ball. Quinn couldn't help but smile as she saw it's swirl start to spin... "Helix, shake it off!" She instructed. The ghost, suddenly overcome by the whirling on the Poliwag's tummy, shook vigorously, trying to shake off the effects; but no, somehow, Helix's eyes were starting to feel heavy... they were closing of their own accord... Fall asleep... just close your eyes... Quinn's voice cut through his sleepy haze. "Helix! Don't fall asleep! Don't fall for i -" Too late. Before she had even finished the sentence, the Shuppet had dropped to the floor, sleeping as if he hadn't a care in the world, totally content in his own little dream bubble. Quinn's jaw had dropped; how had Cleon managed to disadvantage her so much? Did he possess some sort of magic? She ran a hand through her now tousled blonde hair, picking at her leggings with the other. What a disaster. Now she could nothing but wake for Helix to wake up...

Releasing a few bubbles in the air as a show of glee, Target did a few happy back flips into the pond. His first Hypnosis had worked! He couldn’t believe it! Cleon must have helped. Yes, the human was so helpful for practicing aim and such. The Poliwag was not so distracted that he did not pay attention to his trainer, however. Ever eager to please, he listened for his next orders. Or was the battle over now that he was asleep? Aiming for a sleeping target just seemed silly.
Unable to keep a grin off his face, Cleon pointed at the downed Shuppet. ”Alright, Target, let’s go for another Bubble.” Similarly to his Pokemon, the idea of attacking a sleeping foe was silly, but this was all in good fun. He was sure that Quinn would do the same thing.
Nodding enthusiastically, the tadpole went under again, took in a great amount of water, then fired an even stronger stream of bubbles at the drowsing Helix.

Damn that Cleon. Now that Helix was out for the count, Quinn knew he would only wake up of his own accord, and nothing else. Crossing her arms stubbornly, she felt like snubbing Cleon; he was so ... what was the word? Not exactly lucky, just... good. All the time! It wasn't fair. And it wasn't like she could get mad at him for it - it was a good skill, and she could only wish she had it. Plus, he was too cute to stay angry at for long. Oops. Did that thought actually just enter her mind? Dammit, Quinn, what is wrong with you?! She facepalmed, groaning internally, feeling lucky that Cleon couldn't read minds. Why did things always revert back to that train of thought, when it came to males?! She cursed herself, and continued tapping her foot on the ground impatiently, waiting for the Shuppet to wake up. The bubble hit head on; the sleeping Shuppet was knocked backwards slightly by the force, rolling along the ground a couple of times. And yet, he continued to sleep; in fact, she could just about hear little snores escaping his mouth. "Wake up, dammit!" She felt like swearing, but in the presence of the cute little Poliwag, she'd feel bad. So she contented herself with swearing in her head. ::shuppet:: HELIX continues to SLEEP.

Oh, ho, or COULD Cleon read minds? Nah, he couldn't, and he was pretty darn oblivious to Quinn's thoughts. Aside from her irritation, of course. He could see that quite obviously, and couldn't help but feel as though he'd used a cheap move. Still, she'd do the same to his Pokemon, if given the chance. And honestly? His skill was mostly luck, and due to the fact that he'd trained for a bit longer than the girl. But mostly luck.
Cleon vowed not to hypnosis Helix again. Not in this battle, anyway. Not like he'd let Quinn know of her little handicap, of course. She'd punch him in the face if she knew that he was even thinking of going easy on her. "Target, try bubbling him into the pond?" Cleon suggested, grinning slightly at the tadpole. Being submerged would most likely end up waking the ghost Pokemon up, and provide a game for Target. A two for one deal.
Gleefully, the Poliwag obliged and bounced around to shoot bubbles at Helix, trying to push him closer to the edge of the pond. And if the ghost didn't wake up right away? He could just push him out of the water, no harm done.

Cleon had a weird look on his face, an expression which Quinn couldn't quite place; was it smugness? Or just him thinking up a strategy in his head? The blonde couldn't be bothered to try to work it out; she kept her eyes on her Shuppet as the bubbles popped against him, rolling him gently into the pond. Quinn grabbed her hair, annoyed with it; rapidly, her fingers twirled around the blonde strands until she'd produced a long, golden braid. Flicking it behind her back, she rummaged in a pocket of her shorts for a hairclip - dammit, it must be in her bag! Oh well. She'd have to make do with just flicking the massive fringe out of the way. She turned her attention back to the Shuppet, who was starting to blow bubbles from his snores. Hopefully that would wake him up; as the little ghost Pokemon sunk slightly in the water, becoming half-submerged, she noticed a twitch; yes! Finally! He'd only been asleep for a short while, but as his eyelids flickered open, it seemed like ages. Rising slowly out of the water, the Shuppet yawned, still in a hangover-state. "Good, Helix!" Quinn flashed a grin at nothing; he was too tired to perform a move yet, so they'd just have to wait for the Poliwag to strike again. The little Ghost floated gently away from the pond, landing serenely on the ground, seeming to forget that he was in a battle. ::shuppet:: HELIX woke up!

Cleon was more than willing to remind Helix of its current position in the middle of a battle field. The ghost-type was actually sort of cute, bobbing about in its sleepy state. Cleon felt a wee bit guilty at the prospect of attacking it. But, as usual, not guilty enough to withhold an action. "Keep on Bubbling it!" he called out. With a cheerful gurgling sound, Target obliged, firing more bubbles at his opponent.

{{ooc. 'Tis okayyyy. <3 }}
Another spray of bubbles from the Poliwag; Helix was still half asleep, his head drooping slightly. "Dodge, Helix. Just... rise upwards." As instructed, the Shuppet sleepily rose upwards in the air, like a balloon - slowly, he was fading back into action. Thankfully, he missed the bubbles by a tiny amount; they popped harmlessly through the space where he had been, and he hung in the air, like a puppet. "Okay. Good one, now use Shadow Sneak." Quinn said calmly. Cleon had the scales tipped in his favour, but they wouldn't go down without a pretty good fight. Helix, almost back to his normal state, extended his shadow, cloaking himself in darkness; and then, zipping behind Target, he raced up behind the Poliwag, intending to strike from behind. ::shuppet:: HELIX used SHADOW SNEAK!

Darn. It appeared as though Helix was mostly awake, now. That would even the odds a bit, though Cleon still had faith in Target’s ability to bounce about to dodge enough, and fire enough bubbles, to defeat the ghost-type. Unfortunately, Target was not prepared for the upcoming Shadow Sneak. Even if he had expected the attack, dodging it while on land would have been difficult; his little legs were quick enough, but fairly weak and unaccustomed to quick spurts of movement while on solid ground. He turned around enough to avoid a complete smash from behind, but was still propelled sideways from the attack.
”Don’t worry, Target, fire some bubbles and head for the water!” Cleon called out, recognizing his partner’s increased ability while swimming. With a nod, the tadpole-Pokemon rolled to his feet and bounced towards the pond, backwards, firing a stream of bubbles towards the Shuppet as he went.

Helix felt another small boost of confidence as Target was thrust forwards from the Shadow Sneak on his rump. Twirling in the air, Helix was oblivious to Quinn's shouts to dodge the Bubble, and got hit by a spattering of bubbles popping against his misty flesh. Dammit. They'd have to work on improving Helix's concentration...
"Right, Helix, Shadow Sneak again." Maybe Target would learn from the repetitive move? Maybe not. But, although he tried hard to conceal it, Quinn knew that Helix was dangerously weak right now. They'd have to get as many hits in as possible, because he might faint on the spot at any moment.
Helix, slower than usual, extended his shadow to cover himself in darkness, before aiming to whack Target hard on the butt.

Having heard the instruction from Quinn, Target was ready this time. Plus, he was near the water. Thanks to Helix's slower-than-usual movements, the tadpole was able to dive into the poor, just barely dodging the attack. He came up from the water, grinning, spitting out a few droplets here and there just for kicks and giggles.
"Nice, Target. Go for another Bubble attack!" Cleon, being the oblivious individual that he was, did not notice the Shuppet's weakening state. Instead, he was focused on keeping the bubbles flowing, to distract the easily excitable ghost, if for no other reason.
Finished with his water sport, Target obliged, flipping up in the air, shooting out bubbles as he went. The move was hardly as graceful as he would have liked, but it looked cool. Rather, the Poliwag imagined that he looked decent enough, spitting out bubbles while doing a backflip. His accuracy was questionable, however, and Cleon couldn't help but laugh as bubbles went shooting every which was. At least a few were bound to hit their target, at least.

When that last Shadow Sneak failed to hit the Poliwag, Quinn felt Helix's surrender in the air. He couldn't fight anymore, not against the agile little Poliwag who was hopping around with seemingly more energy than ever. "Dodge!" Quinn yelped, but she knew it wouldn't make a difference as the Poliwag shot a stream of bubbles towards the mini-ghost; he was out of it, and no way could he dodge any more. The bubbles hit him square in the chest; and with that, the Shuppet slid downwards as if there were a pane of glass behind him, flopping onto the ground, out for the count. Quinn ran a hand through her hair as she walked sorrowfully towards her ghost. They'd lost against Cleon, again. One day... one day she'd beat him. "Congrats." She smiled, holding out a hand for him to shake, before she'd treat Helix with a potion.

Target bounced about with glee upon downing the ghost-type, feeling quite chipper upon his most recent victory. He was kicking major Pokemon butt lately! Strength was certainly coursing through his little veins; soon he would evolve! In his mind that was the case, at least. Heck, he was spinning around, picturing himself as a Poliwhirl right this moment.
Slightly more debonair than his companion, Cleon shook his head at his little water type and returned him to his sphere. He smiled at Quinn. ”Helix has gotten a lot stronger than he was before,” Cleon said as he accepted Quinn’s offered hand.
It was quite dark by now, the sun having completely set beyond the horizon. Still, despite the fact that it was early, Cleon was about ready to collapse into his makeshift bed. As a fairly traditional farmer, he tended to rise and fall with the rhythm of the sun. Quinn, on the other hand, may not follow that same schedule; he assumed that she would want to be on her way. Therefore, he decided not to even offer the opportunity of remaining in his “camp.”
Helix gains one level, Target gains two.

"Thanks. Your little Poliwag is a strong little cutie." Quinn smiled again, returning Helix to his Pokeball to recover, before slinging her bag on her back. "Well, I'll be off. After saying his goodbyes to Quinn, Cleon decided that he would, indeed, crawl on into his makeshift tent and get a good night's sleep. He'd be up for more training in the morning with all his Pokemon. Hopefully nothing would disturb his slumber, but that was the risk he took in such a crappy tent out in the middle of wild Pokemon territory.

Psyduck was hungry! Psyduck had a headache! Psyduck was hungry for asprins as a result and maybe some fish, yeah, tuna would be nice right now. It wanted a lot of things as it snuck as sneakily as a duck-platypus thing pokemon could while waddlnig and holding it's head, and its grand and sneaky entrance to Cleon's tent failed spectacularly.
