Audrey held back the urge to reach out and touch the Sunkern. She was sure making too sudden of a movement would either cause it to retaliate in defense or hop away. Instead, she kept the charm bracelet held out in front of it while she slowly moved her free hand towards it. "See, I'm not that scary," she said. She wasn't sure if it understood what she way saying, but any sort of communication felt good. Even though she just started her journey not that long ago, she felt alone in the world because of the lack of socialization.
"What about your friend, huh? Is he alright?" she asked the Sunkern. Audrey didn't care if it even paid the slightest attention to her, it just felt good to talk to something. "You don't have to worry about Spiritomb," she said in a hushed tone, "I guess I should have put him back in his pokeball sooner." However, she did feel bad for only letting him out for those few seconds. Even though he was just a giant ball of spirits held together, he was still a pokemon and still had the basic needs of one.

<You...won't hurt me.> The Sunkern repeated, nearly breathless when he heard her soothing voice. Already, he was starting to relax. The tension that had been in his body before seemed to ease away when he sensed some honesty from the girl, and he thought like he could trust her.
At the mention of his friend, he slowly turned to face him, before glancing at her to make sure she didn't try anything funny. It was a reflex, but he felt like he had to check. He swiftly hopped back to his friend's side, nudging him awake until his own gaze fixated on the girl's.
<Uh...who's that?> He asked upon waking up, apparently never noticing her when his sights were so fixed on the Spiritomb. Did she save them? How kind of her! He felt some of his energy return to him as he gave a grateful smile towards the girl, making his buddy sigh with relief. It was good that they were together again.

Audrey maneuvered herself ever so slowly so she could rest her arm on her leg. Holding out for so long made it burn with tiredness. "Don't worry, I'm not going to hurt you," she said while watching the Sunkern turn to check on its friend. She smiled quickly as she watched the Sunkern duo. They seemed like they were good friends, or mates, she couldn't really tell their gender at this point.
The soreness in her arm started to go away after a few moments. Holding her arm out once more, Audrey wiggled the bracelet again in hopes of drawing both of them towards her. "I'm sure you two don't come across a lot of trainers," she said to them. "I know that if I was one of you, I wouldn't even stick around to find out what a trainer was. You both are braver than I am."
She let her arm hang down again, twisting one of the charms in her fingers. "It must be hard living out here by yourselves. Being so small and vulnerable, no offense, must put you on the menu for plenty of other pokemon," she continued babbling on. She kept on talking to them, not even checking to see if they were still there listening to her.

The first Sunkern, who hadn't fainted, looked away with a frown at the remark that they must be on the menu for a lot of Pokémon. >Yes we are,< murmured the little seed. >Starly, Pidgey. Taillow. Spearow. Hoothoot.<>Rattata, Cacnea. Kricketot hordes,< added the second with a touch of resentment. Being at the bottom of the food chain was never an easy ride, which is why these too always stuck together. Blushing at the remark about their courage, the first Sunkern gave a squeak of delight. This Trainer was not only kind, but realized what a fine pair of kernels these little Sunkern were behind their weak shell. >Thank you for the compliment,< nodded the second Sunkern. ::sunkern::

"I'm actually quite surprised you haven't been spotted by any predators," said Audrey. "You would think being out in the open would have already caused you to be attacked." It truly was odd that the pair seemed to be safe at the moment. Maybe it was because she was out here causing their natural enemies to stay at a safe distance.
Now that she thought about it, the surrounding wilderness appeared lifeless. It was quiet, eerily quiet, as if someone muted the entire route. For some reason, Audrey felt like she was being stalked by a hidden predator. She looked behind her instinctively but saw nothing out of the ordinary. Maybe she was just getting herself worked up over nothing. She didn't feel safe without Spiritomb now but since she didn't want to scare the Sunkern away, she couldn't bring him back out.
"Actually, sitting here isn't the greatest idea," she said a bit nervously. Audrey looked back towards the little seeds hoping they wouldn't sense her nervousness. As much as she wanted to, she couldn't bring herself to pull out Spiritomb. She would feel bad after seeing how the two reacted earlier, but sooner or later she knew she would have too. Plus, Oddish was barely recovered since the pokeballs didn't offer any sort of healing properties like they did before the power outage. She wasn't sure what was causing the feeling of being watched, but she knew she didn't want to stay put for much longer.

::hoothoot:: Pokemon encounter ! The two sunkerns shuddered in spite of themselves when the trainer foretold danger with her words. <Y-you're right. Maybe we should...> One started, but his words were cut short.
The odd silence was almost ... feasible now. As if you could reach out and touch it. Spines thoroughly chilled, the Sunkerns quickly shuffled over to the friendly trainer and hid under her, shivering in fear.
Suddenly, a Hoothoot flapped his wings and landed in the spot the Seedots were just at. <Dangit. First I lost those noisy Kricketots, now you...> Hissed the bird, seeing that the two seedlings were being watched over by a formidable human. At the sight of this predatory bird, the two seeds cowered in horror.

"Oh no," Audrey dreadfully said. As if she viewed a glimpse of the future, there stood a Hoothoot. She quickly turned to face the bird, readying one of her occupied pokeballs. It really couldn't get much worse than this. She now had to protect the two helpless Sunkerns who sought out protection underneath her while trying not to scare them to death with Spiritomb as she fought against the bird.
"I'm really sorry to do this to the two of you," she said to the Sunkern. She released the pokeball thus releasing Spiritomb as a result. He floated ominously a few feet in front of Audrey and the seeds, staring blankly at the Hoothoot. Audrey positioned herself in an attempt to keep both Sunkern behind her. "Spiritomb," she called out, "use Shadow Sneak!" Audrey nervously peeked over her shoulder at the two Sunkern. She wasn't as scared as they would be, since the Hoothoot posed no exact threat towards her at the moment, but she did feel some bit of fear for their safety. Of course, she wasn't their trainer and they weren't her pokemon. It would be up to them to fight for their safety after they parted ways.

The shadow of the Spiritomb extended rapidly to wards the Hoothoot. Menacingly stalking it like prey, it lashed out violently at the animal. However, The Shadow Sneak missed entirely! Being a normal type, Hoothoot had complete immunity! Without missing a beat, the Hoothoot retaliated against the Spiritomb in a blind fury.
<"Nobody gets in the way of my dinner!"> Rather peeved, the Hoothoot ascended into the air. It narrowed its eyes, using its perception to launch a Foresight attack. After wards, it took a sharp nosedive with a Tackle attack. Due to Foresight, the tackle would still affect any ghost type. It hooted out a rather snippy comment.
<"I won't make the same mistake as you!"> Hoothoot would be vexed if it lost now, and its growling stomach motivated it to beat this trainer!
Off a few spots away, the two Sunkerns were chattering away.
::Sunkern:: ::Sunkern::
<"I-it's so scary!"> Its non-existent teeth were chattering up a storm, while the other one twisted its sapling in annoyance.
<"That meanie! Beating up on the trainer like that! I wish we could help her..."> The second Sunkern whined back to the first, feeling a bit empty.

Completely unaware to Audrey, she couldn't figure out why Spiritomb's attack didn't hit. Shadow Sneak was supposed to be unavoidable, but this little bird seemed to have gotten through some loophole. She brought her hand to her face in disbelief. She didn't know that attacking with a ghost type move would make the move go through like an actual ghost. She watched as Spiritomb was thrown back by the tackle, causing him to knock his trainer to the ground. Audrey painfully got back to her feet and turned towards the duo again. They seemed so scared and helpless like young children facing a scary Pokémon.
She thought back to the times when she took care of her baby brother. He couldn't defend himself if he was put up against an aggressive Pokémon alone, much like the Sunkern. And like her baby brother, Audrey wasn't going to let them down. "Let's try something else," she said to Spiritomb. "Try Pursuit." Spiritomb moved to launch the attack responding to the Hoothoot's comment in his wispy voice, <"I believe it is you who has made a mistake.">

Hoothoot was blown backwards by the Pursuit. Pursuit was an extremely weak move if the pokemon wasn't switching out; making this battle take even longer than usual. Hoothoot, not the best in terms of options, opted for the same strategy. He ascended into the air and prompted another Foresight. Another time with Tackle as he brought his small, rotund body on top of the Spiritomb once again. He was a bit too...smarted to actually realize that repeating the same moves over and over may be a bit obvious. Birds, how stupid.

She had no clue if the two Sunkern were still behind her or if they ran off. Audrey wasn't going to take a chance and get hit again. If she was to get knocked unconscious it could possibly prove fatal unless another trainer happened to come across her. Even if they ran away, Audrey wasn't about to just give up and let the Hoothoot win. She was determined to beat it even if she received little satisfaction from it.
"Use Pursuit again," she said. They really didn't have much of a choice on what to do. The majority of Spiritomb's moves were Ghost type moves, which didn't seem to do anything to the Hoothoot. That only left them with Pursuit. The owl pokemon seemed to be in the same boat as them. Having to use Foresight just to be able have its attack do damage left it with having to rely on the same moves. From what Audrey could tell, the battle wouldn't be over anytime soon.

Hoothoot saw what this battle was going to devolve into; a repetitive stalemate. It was like one of those coin machines in the arcade, pushing coins into the slot to earn tokens. It kept pushing down and retracting; over and over. Mind you, Hoothoot was still in a fit of rage. It was hungry, and hunger equaled anger. Anger then became rage, and rage then became the driving force known as will power. Spiritomb had used Pursuit, which hit him once again. It did a fair amount of damage, but the Hoothoot was still going strong. After recoiling, it decided to use the combination of Foresight and Tackle once more. Hoothoot wasn't getting tired of this, its dinner was on the line! Mood: Willful Hoothoot is hit by Pursuit and takes some damage!Hoothoot uses Foresight and Tackle...again.

All she could do was keep using Pursuit. There was nothing else left for her to do. Oddish, as stated earlier, was down and out. She didn't have any other pokemon to rely on. Well, aside from the Sunkern but what could they do? It's not like they would be able to muster up the courage to fight back. Audrey figured they were probably scared stiff just being in the same area as one of their predators.
Spiritomb was pushed back from the tackle but managed to stop himself short of coming too close to his trainer. He had already knocked her down once and hurting her was the last thing he wanted to do. "Use Pursuit again," she said, but Spiritomb was already on it. It was obvious he could only use that move, so why should he have to sit back and wait for her to tell him what to do?

Of all the repetitive battles, this had to be one of the most vexing. Hoothoot only just managed to flap out of the way of the Pursuit, gnashing his beak together in anger. The two Sunkern were still cowering fearfully - they seemed to be gaining confidence in their unlikely savior, however.
<Good luck!> one of them cheered hopefully, wincing when the brown-feathered owl swiveled his head around to glare at them fiercely.
The owl, having dodged the attack of the ghastly fiend he was battling for the rights to his meal, now turned his attention to retaliating. Foresight and Tackle were such an incredibly drab pair. So instead of attempting to lower the HP of his opponent this time around, he decided to go for a stat-reducing move, instead.
Repeating only the Foresight, he then gave his most convincing Growl. It was quite hard for birds to actually Growl, see, as they didn't have the vocal chords for it, but hey, you had to give him points for trying.

"At least Hoothoot can change it up a little..." Audrey thought to herself, though it was only a minor change. At least it gave some pep to the battle. "Spiritomb," she addressed the pokemon, "pursuit." Her voice hinted on her minuscule boredom brought on by the fight. However Spiritomb didn't go full force like he was doing earlier. He was still attacking the quickest he could, but something was different. Having been affected mentally by the Growl, he felt less confident in his attacks. He felt like the Hoothoot would beat him either way which caused him to hold all of his strength back out of the shame he felt in himself.

The Hoothoot didn't see the attack coming, he was knocked to his talons surprised. He got up and shook his head. Well, this was going well now wasn't it? He let out a furous Growl. The sound echoed through the route as he then flapped up his wings and went in for a full body Tackle. HIs claws diggin in the ground as he raced towards the Pokemon. Because of the Foresight his attack should work, right? Of course he didn't know any better, he was just battling for his life here, no pressure.

With the second use of growl, Audrey wasn't sure how strong Spiritomb's attacks would be. The angry growl seemed to silence everything else, even though the forest was pretty silent to begin with. She was slowly losing hope in their chance of winning. The more the Hoothoot growled, the less Spiritomb could use all of his strength. It made him see himself as weak causing him to become physically weak as a consequence.
The battle was like a broken record, or at least for Audrey. Spiritomb was, once again, hit by Hoothoot's tackle. Each time he was pushed back, he would get closer and closer to where his trainer stood which put her in the line of danger. "Pursuit," she said. She was slowly losing her patience in the battle. At the moment, it seemed like it would last forever and end in their defeat.

Hoothoot tried to dodge the Pursuit, but failed, feeling more of his energy drain as he was hit. However, there was only little pain from the impact, thanks to his Growl attacks. Hoothoot, contrast to how Audrey was feeling, was quite pleased that this battle was quite repetetive. From what the Owl Pokemon could gather, the Spiritomb's only effective move against him was Pursuit. And seeing that the attack was barely effective, Hoothoot was confident he had this battle in the bag. Dinner would be his soon enough! The two Sunkerns watched with eyes wide with anticipation and nervousness, watching their savior's Pokemon endure against the Hoothoot's attacks. One of the Sunkern was debating with herself, whether to join the fight or not. Part of her instinctive nature told her to flee away from the predator that stood before them, ready to eat them once he has delt with the trainer. But the way the Trainer was fighting for the sake of protecting them. The Sunkern couldn't just sit here and watch like a coward. Summing up her courage, Sunkern quickly hopped forward beside the Spirittomb, glaring at the Hoothoot in an attempt to look intimidating. Her quivering bud upon her head expressed just how scared she was. <What are you doing!"the other Sunkern called out in shock, though too scared to join her companion. "Yes what are you doing pipsqueak? Willing to be my dinner already?>the Hoothoot sneered, eyes shining in triumph. <N-No! I'm going to fight too!>Sunkern retorted, trying to keep fear away from her voice. Hoothoot's eyes darkened slightly and, for a fraction of a second, seemed to have a flash of doubt upon his feature. But it was quickly gone and replaced with a cocky grin. <This is going to be easier then I thought,>he crowed confidently. He opened his beak and let out a Growl attack that echoed through the forest again. Sunkern has joined the battle. The other Sunkern still cowers behind AudreyMood: Cocky Hit by PursuitUsed Growl

With his attack lowered even more, Audrey was positive they would lose. But what would happen if she did? Would the Hoothoot try and attack her while she was unprotected? The fate of the Sunkerns would be sealed if she lost. She didn't want that to be the outcome, but she couldn't do much to prevent it.
Spiritomb floated warily in front of the owl. Hoothoot seemed so much stronger than him, seemingly invincible. "Come on Spiritomb," Audrey said in a hopeful manner, "use Pursuit again." He followed her command though hesitantly, lessening the power of his attack even more. If it wasn't for the Hoothoot shifting his attention to the brave Sunkern beside them, Audrey would have never noticed it.
"If you're going to try and fight with us, try and time your attacks so they would be masked by Pursuit," she said to the Sunkern. "Maybe we can win after all, Audrey thought to herself. She turned to the other Sunkern who was still behind her. It still seemed to fearful to engage in the battle unlike its friend. It would have been better if both of them was willing to fight with her but as long as one did, Audrey's chances of winning slightly got better.

Hoothoot, his attention on the Sunkern, didn't detect the Pursuit attack. He was, once again, hit by the impact, sending him sliding a few inches, though it wasn't powerful enough to make him topple over. The Growl attacks seemed to have been quite effective. This is going to be too easy,he thought, with a smug grin. Sunkern heard Audrey's suggestion and nodded to show she understood. At the moment Spiritomb unleashed the Pursuit attack, Sunkern gathered up her energy, using Growth to power up. Then, right after the Pursuit hit, Sunkern unleashed large orbs of energy at the Hoothoot. Used GrowthSpecial attack rose +1Used Mega DrainTaken by surprise, the orbs latched themselves onto the Hoothoot. The Owl Pokemon let out a "hoot" of indignation and tried to shake them off, but they didn't let go as all of them enveloped him. At once, Hoothoot felt his energy being drained. As quick as it came, the orbs released him and returned back to the Sunkern. The green spheres surrounded Sunkern, replenishing her stamina. She knew it wasn't too effective against the flying type Pokemon, but it was something. <Why you little runt!"Hoothoot hissed in indignation, glaring at the Sunnkern, his eyes red with fury. The Hoothoot knew he had to plan his moves carefully. He decided to take out the Spiritomb first. Without that Ghost Pokemon, he knew he'd win. Hoothoot's eyes flashed red as he shined it upon the Spiritomb then flew at it, head tucked in to ready for the impact. Hit by Pursuit and Mega DrainUsed Foresight and Tackle on Spiritomb
