Even though their attacks did little to the Hoothoot, Audrey was just glad that she had extra help on her side. The owl didn't appear to be weakening at all, instead, it seemed to be just as lively as it was at the beginning. Even when hit by Pursuit and Mega Drain consecutively, it barely showed any sign of losing strength. Spiritomb, on the other hand, seemed to be weakening gradually. As the Hoothoot came at him ready to tackle him once more, he tried to maneuver out of the way though was too slow. He was hit with full impact which sent him flying back.
Luckily, the Sunkern seemed to be out of danger's way at the moment. As long as the seed stayed out of harms way and kept using Mega Drain, they could stand a bit of a chance against the owl. "Pursuit again, Spiritomb!" she called out to him. He mustered up as much energy as he could and floated towards the Hoothoot, hoping to hit with all the strength he could.

Another Mega Drain from the Sunkern suctioned more health from the failing Hoothoot, who let out a weak hoot of indignation as the health was given to the Sunkern. The Pursuit hit him next, sending him on his back before he even realized he had been incapacitated by the Dark Type move. Staring up at the sky with his legs in the air, he blinked confusedly before looking over at the Sunkern he had been so intent on devouring for a winter meal. They were jumping about in excitement, letting out small squeaks of delight. The one who hadn't fought was a little more reserved in his celebrations, but was jumping about nonetheless. Narrowing his eyes as he let a malicious coo loose at the pair and their defenders, he gave in to the encroaching blackness. What a terrible day it had been. No food, no victory, and no pride. Beaten by a ghost and a glorified bag of popcorn. Hoothoot has fainted. Spiritomb and Sunkern 1 gain half a level.

"We...won?" she questioned. Audrey was unsure if she was knocked out and happened to dream of their win, or if it actually happened. As if he was trying to help convince her, Spiritomb moaned and floated around the unconscious bird. She looked towards the both Sunkern who were merrily celebrating. If she hadn't of been there, they wouldn't be able to celebrate. However if she just kept walking and not stopped to make peace with them, the Hoothoot wouldn't of seen them in the first place.
Audrey didn't want to take the chance of them getting attacked again, especially since her pokemon didn't seem like he could take much more. "You fought well," she said to the one who help her. "I'm sure when he regains consciousness, he'll spread word of you defeating him. Maybe then you won't be seen as a weak, little food item by most of the predators here." She turned to check back on the bird to make sure that it was still knocked out. "I think it's best if we part ways. That way you can go tell your buddies about your achievement," she said in an apologetic way.
Before she turned to walk off, she motioned for Spiritomb to come. Audrey pulled out one of her potions and sprayed it on his wounds once he was within range. This time, she wasn't going to try and befriend any wild pokemon she came across. Well, at least none who were at the bottom of the food chain.
Audrey used one on Spiritomb!

The Sunkern that had battled beamed in delight by the Trainer's praise, glad that she had helped. The sight of the Hoothoot unable to fight anymore thrilled her. She had been sure she and her companion would've been Hoothoot snack. Luckily, the Trainer had come to their aid and the Sunkerns had another day to live. The second Sunkern was happy, though a little disconcerted that she had done nothing at all. Secretly, she vowed to become stronger so that she wouldn't have to rely on others to protect herself. The two Sunkerns gave calls of good-byes and gratitude to the Trainer as she left, hopping back into the forest and vanishing into the bushes. A pond was nearby, as blue as the sky that reflected it. Suddenly, bubbles began to emerge and create ripples across the once smooth surface. Then, a lily pad seemed to float up to the surface, remaining stationary for a few minutes before some creature poked his face out of the water, eyes alight with curiosity. The Lotad spotted the Trainer and stared at her, not quite scared but a bit apprehensive nonetheless. A Lotad has appeared!Mood: Curious Engage or ignore?

With Spiritomb out of his ball, Audrey merrily chatted with him as they continued down the path. "Do you think it was okay just to leave that Hoothoot there?" she asked him to which he replied with a simple ghostly moan. Even though she had no idea what he was saying, she went along with her conversation as if she understood it all. "I don't know. I just feel so bad that I left it there, but we were protecting those sunkern from it."
She babbled on, practically answering her own questions as she did so. For at least a good hour, neither sound nor sign of nearby wild pokemon could be found. It seemed like everything had gone into hibernation early. "Maybe you're scaring them all away, Spiritomb," she said, jokingly of course. It was then that she noticed her throat was getting sore, most likely caused by the crisp, autumn air and her incessant talking. Luckily, it wasn't long before they happened upon a pond.
Audrey walked up to its edge and knelt down. It wasn't the best looking water around, though it was something. Plus, she remembered hearing that if there was algae growing on top that meant the water was okay to drink or something like that. However, she would still need to purify it for health reasons which takes fire. But did she even have a fire type pokemon?
Before she could even begin to think of ways to avoid dying of dysentery, she happened to spot what appeared to be a lily pad nearby. Since it was basically a bowl, it would catch rainwater right? She couldn't remember the last time it rained but at least she had a better chance of not getting sick by drinking from it. Audrey reached towards it but quickly pulled her hand back in a frightened manner. "Are....are those eyes?!" she exclaimed. Having spotted the Lotad's eyes peering at her, Audrey was very obviously startled. Yet, Spiritomb lazily floated at the edge of the pond seemingly oblivious to his trainer's sudden surprise.

Lotad gasped in shock at the approach of the Trainer and her Spiritomb. The Ghost Type Pokemon rather intimidated the Pokemon, and he instinctively sank underwater until only his eyes were visible above the murky surface of the pond. But really, on second thought, the Lotad couldn't easily escape from this Spiritomb now that it had caught sight of him. The time to err on the side of caution had passed. His lily pad sailed gently to shore, his large eyes staring cautiously at the Spiritomb as stubby blue legs carried his body to shore, and he shook himself dry, possibly getting some on the Trainer and her Spiritomb while he was at it; they were certainly close enough to get sprayed. That done, the careful Lotad looked up the the pair again, not quite sure how he should start a conversation with such imposing creatures. So he simply opened his mouth, letting a single word slip out. >Hello.< ::lotad::

"Oh," Audrey said shakily, "it's just a pokemon." And a cute one, at that. Though she didn't choose what pokemon she wanted based on its physical appearance, the little Lotad appealed to her. Maybe it was because it scared her so bad or because she just saved a couple of pokemon that were small like it. As is crawled out of the pond and shook itself off, Audrey was soon lightly sprayed in water which would have probably resulted in a stubborn cold if she had been completely drenched.
She wasn't really sure how to react to the Lotad. He didn't seem as skittish as most wild pokemon, though that didn't mean it would attack if felt threatened. Audrey stayed kneeling on the ground while Spiritomb floated close behind her. When it greeted them, Audrey's reaction time was slow having taken the time to decide whether it chirped or squeaked. Instead, it was Spiritomb who greeted the little pokemon. <"Mmmhello,"> he spoke with what sounded like a slowed-down voice. <"Youu seemed to hhhave frighttened my trainerrr."> It wasn't until a few seconds after he finished his sentence that Audrey decided to finally communicate with the Lotad, saying a confused "Hello." despite her inability to understand pokemon language.

<Well, your Trainer frightened me a little too,>the Lotad replied with a good-natured chuckle. The Lotad allowed himself to step forward a little more, thought making sure he wasn't too far from the edge of the water in case he needed a quick escape if the Trainer happens to become aggressive. His eyes averted up the Female Trainer as she returned his greeting. He gave the Trainer a sheepish smile, tilting his head slightly. This had been his closest encounter with a human. So far so good.... Curiousity made the Lotad approach the human even closer. He allowed his own duck-like bill to bump gently against the Trainer's leg. This move had been slightly impulsive, and he quickly retreated back a little, looking up at the Trainer with slightly fearful eyes as he waited to see her response to his actions. Lotad had bumped against your legMood: Apprehensive

Audrey didn't know what the two were saying but she wish she did. She felt a bit left out of the conversation, but tried her best to take a guess at what they were saying. <"She's nothing to be afraid of,"> Spiritomb replied. <"But don't go around thinking every trainer is like her. That could be the worst mistake you make."> Even though he was practically a giant ball of spirits, he did hold some bit of emotion although he couldn't express it physically.
She let out a faint squeak when the Lotad bumped her. She wasn't really expecting it to even come close to her. Instead, she thought it would scurry off after a few seconds of checking them over. Though she decided she wasn't going to try and befriend any more wild pokemon, she couldn't just totally ignore the little creature. And Spiritomb didn't seem to be too concerned seeing as he was casually engaging with it.
"Do you have any idea how I can get clean, drinkable water from this pond?" she asked it. She tentatively held her hand out to touch it, though wasn't sure whether it would bite her or even feel her hand underneath the large lily pad. Or was that actually part of the pokemon? To be honest, Audrey wasn't really sure at this point. Oh well, there's always a time to learn new things.

The Lotad blinked at the Trainer's question. Then he started laughing a bit. <Clean water? Really?> He asked. <This is a route, filled with Pokemon, who drink from it everyday, and you think you can get it clean?> He laughed harder to himself and sighed heavily. After his good little laugh he said, <This is as clean as you can get.> he said, pointing a hand(?) to a bush. <Behind there should a cleaner one though, not many Pokemon know of this one.> Then he just stared up at the Trainer. <It's not gonna kill you though.> He pointed out.

Was it laughing at her? Audrey felt offended although she couldn't blame it for finding her question funny, that is, if it even understood her. Humans weren't equipped with the natural defense against water born bacterial infections like they were. It chirped a few more times before motioning towards a bush. She stood up, confused about what it was trying to get through to her. Before she could even think to as the Lotad to show her, she found herself being pushed gently forward to the bush by Spiritomb. "Uhh, thank you," she said to the Lotad. She might as well go see what it was trying to tell her, and if Spiritomb thought it was okay, then it must me safe.

The lotad followed her to a nearby drinking pond. It looked crystal clear opposed to the somewhat murky waters of the other pond. Lotad jumped in impudently, using his lily pad as a flotation device. He fountained some water through his mouth and spit it upwards, before rolling over with a sigh.
<"No one ever comes to drink water here, so you're pretty much safe."> The lotad said lazily, he wasn't sure what to think of this girl. She seemed nicer than most trainers, but she seemed really off too.

Her jaw dropped at the sight of the clear water. It was heavenly compared to the other pond. It reminded her of something straight from a painting, yet was missing the tell-tale signs of life that could be found nearly everywhere. Where were the pokemon tracks or the buzz of bug pokemon? What about the splash of water pokemon? Audrey couldn't be sure if she technically missed the ambiance or if she just missed the feeling of not being alone out here. Even though she would much rather not fight against wild pokemon, it was much better than the feeling of being the only living creature around.
"This is really pretty!" she said as she bent down at the edge of the water. She cupped her hands together and placed them in the water, drinking the water that she managed to capture. The cold, refreshing liquid was a welcome relief to her. It was just a shame that she didn't have any containers to carry some with her when she moved on. Although, it wasn't like the town was weeks away. She wasn't going to die of dehydration out here. There would be plenty of ways for her to survive out here, including having to find food to feed both her and her pokemon.
Audrey watched as the Lotad casually floated around the pond. He seemed so carefree here. "Is it usually this empty here?" she thought. "So is this your secret hideout or something?" she asked him. It seemed like he was the only pokemon aware of this pond, but that didn't necessarily mean he was the only one to venture here. She didn't really want another encounter like the one she just had with Hoothoot. Hopefully, she could have some peace for a little.

The Lotad looked up at the Trainer with bright eyes, tilting his head up to face her. Only his lilypad-like head, eyes, and duck bill were the only things visible above the water while the rest were submerged underneath the crystal clear water. Upon the Trainer's questioning, the Lotad replied with a slight shrug. <Dunno if anyone else knows about it. But everytime I come here there's no one,>he replied. The water was like a stainless mirror, reflecting everything above the surface of the water. Audrey's reflection was, of course, pasted upon the water, right in front of the Lotad. Feeling a bit playful, the Lotad began to splash at the Trainer's reflection, perhaps causing some water to splash onto the real person. Lotad splashed some water at you!Mood Playful

His splashing resulted in Audrey's lap being soaked with water. She reached in and splashed some water back at the Lotad. However, she didn't pay attention to how close she was to the water as she leaned over and, consequentially, slipping halfway in. She managed to catch herself just before she completely fell into the water leaving only her top half down to where she was splashed wet. It was a good thing too, because she couldn't swim all to well. In fact, she basically flailed around in the water hoping to grab onto something and hold on for dear life.
She pulled herself a few inches away from the bank and brushed off what ever stray water she could. "That was really cold," she said, stifling a laugh. She pulled the hair clip from her bangs and replaced it out of habit. "How can you stand that?" she asked Lotad. Standing up, she attempted to shake of out some of the water from her clothes getting some on Spiritomb. He floated out of the way despite not being able to feel much.

Lotad frowned as the Trainer almost totally submerged herself, ready to help her if need be. Thankfully that wasn't necessary, as the Trainer rectified her overbalancing. Sort of. >Are you OK?< he asked concernedly, tilting his head to one side, but then the Trainer asked him a question of her own. How could he stand the water?... >The question is, how can you stand the heat?< croaked Lotad. Even as an amphibian, he much preferred the cool touch of water to that of the sun. >All that heat and dry skin. It's unbearable, don't you think?< ::lotad::

Audrey shivered slightly as a small, cool breeze blew past. "I would much rather live a nice, dry life," she said. "At least I can stay warm easier." She bent down again but this time keeping a good distance between her and the edge. "You have to be a little tortured during winter, right? You can't really grow a thick winter coat or swim since the water would ice over," she said.
"But I guess you probably have your own ways of coping with the seasons," Audrey said after quickly catching her breath. She never really realized just how clueless she was about pokemon, other than the few species she grew up around. And it didn't help that she had to guess what the pokemon said to her. Hopefully she would get better the more she spent time around them.

The lotad laughed at the girl, she wasn't really sure. He recounted on how each year, his family hibernated under the ice akin to frogs. Their flotation devices didn't freeze over, but they managed. He was grown up now, though, and he lazed around on the pond. He then remembered his other life. Living at home, lazing around with his brothers; it was a shame to grow old.
<"I'm getting nostalgic...being here."> The lotad uttered, before loitering around in the water once again.
