{{ooc. STARLY SO CUTEEE }}
Quinn was quite taken aback by the sudden verbal attack from the Starly, looking up in astonishment at the fat little bird. It looked quite cute; was it trying to be angry? Menacing? All Quinn could see was a little puffball. Helix floated forwards, automatically expecting to be chosen; but, no. Quinn held out an arm to stop him; he'd had his share of battles, and she needed to train up her new Pokemon, too. Her team had to be balanced. "Oh, really?" She shot back to the Starly, raising an eyebrow, looking smug. "Well how about you battle this little Sunkern then?" Shro, following orders as usual, hovered naively in front of the blonde, ready to battle, her little leaf wings flapping with all their might to drum up some battle spirit. Quinn hitched her rucksack further up her back; Birthday squealed in protest at the jump, clinging to the material so she wouldn't be thrown out of it. Helix giggled and knocked her on the side of the head, taunting her. As an argument between them started to develop, Quinn shushed them, keeping her eyes focused on the Starly.

::starly:: Pokemon encounter ! Starly's haughty gaze turned cold and contemplating when the trainer suggested a battle between he and that puny Sunkern. It amused him that she believed that a silly little seedling could stand up to the grace and might of an honorable Starly, master of the birds. But this was an opportunity for him - maybe he could sneak off with the Sunkern while they weren't looking and eat it, too.
<Very well. I accept your challenge.> Conceded the avian, flapping his wings and taking flight in order to descend to a lower branch on the tree. <You go first.> He ordered, watching the human and her silly little pets as he readied himself for battle.
Starly accepts your challenge.

"Shro, Growth and Mega Drain!" Any more light-hearted conversation was thrown out of the window; Quinn ordered the Sunkern to attack instantly, switching to intense-battle-mode. The Sunkern gave a small squeak at the task, and then proceeded to use Growth; after the little sparkles had died away, the Sunkern projected a blast of green energy towards the Starly, intending to drain away some of it's HP and give it to Shro, despite her being on full health anyways. Helix, who was slightly miffed at being shunned, was sulking around a tree somewhere, inspecting the sap and refusing to look at Quinn. Birthday had taken this opportunity to tease him, jumping out of Quinn's backpack and running over to hit, pulling faces and chattering to him. The Smoochum tossed her hair and twirled, but Quinn didn't take any notice; she was focused on the battle, hoping that Shro's confidence would be boosted after this.

The Starly was drained of energy. Flapping his wings out of panic he growled. <Hey! Watch it!> He yelled. Of course, with his luck he always gets the rude Trainers. Never fails, ever. He use Growl, sending his high pitch Growl at the Sunkern, then he went in for a Tackle. He wasn't going to let himself be defeated by a little Sunkern now was he?

Shro chirped in excitement as the Starly was hit by the Giga Drain; she flapped her tiny wings wildly, spinning in circles. Unfortunately, getting so excited from the success of her first attack caused her to be oblivious to Quinn's shouts. "Dodge! Dodge, Shro!" She called out, exasperated, but the Sunkern just kept whirling around in glee - it stopped, shuddering, having been affected by the Growl; and before she had located her bearings, the Starly whizzed into her vision from nowhere, slamming into her head-on. The little Pokemon almost hit the floor, if she hadn't pullled upwards at the last second, panting slightly as she lifted herself back up into the air. She was mainly stunned; but Quinn, eager for her to recover, shouted more orders. "Growth again, and Absorb this time!" Another dazzle of sparks, and another blast of energy shot towards the Starly.

The Starly's strentgh was being sucked away once more. With the Growth they just kept getting stronger each time. But she wasn't going to stand for this! He just couldn't let himself be beaten by a little squirt like this!
Flapping his wings he let out a Growl once again. Then, moving his wings faster he got himself into a Tackle again. He wasn't going to stand for this, he just couldn't!

"Dodge it, Shro!" This time, the Sunkern had been paying attention; she trembled as the Starly shot towards her, but managed to scitter out of the way, the tiny wings above her head flapping like there was no tomorrow. Quinn exhaled a sigh of relief as the seed Pokemon went unharmed from the attack; affected by the Growl, though, it seemed. "Okay, good, Shro. Now use another Mega Drain on that Starly, quick!" No time to bother with a Growth - Quinn wanted to counter back at the Starly before it had even gained it's bearings from the failed Tackle.

The Starly's energy was once again sucked away by this annoying brat. Shaking it off he Growled at a high tone. <I will not let this happen!> He yelled out. He flapped his wings faster as he went in for a Tackle. This stupid little seed couldn't defeat him! He couldn't and he wouldn't let this happen!

The Starly's Tackle this time was fast - really fast. Quinn knew there wouldn't be time to even try and dodge; so she yelled out the only other feasible alternative in her head. "Shro, COUNTER with a Mega Drain! Hit head on!" The Sunkern, mainly because she was so panicky at the sight of the Starly zooming towards her, acted fast; she let another Mega Drain erupt from her mouth, shooting in front of her, towards the Starly who was still coming in for the Tackle...

OOC: I'll allow it this time, but in future, a special attack really shouldn't be able to intercept a physical attack. IC: Starly cooed in pain as several orbs suctioned his health away, struggling to stay airborne. As the health was returned to the Sunkern, he growled threateningly, albeit weakly, before regaining his former composure. >Dinner shouldn't fight back!< he chirped indignantly, before soaring towards the little kernel in a Tackle attack. ::starly:: Mood: Indignant. {{ooc. Eeep, I'm very sorry! D: I was thinking more about the anime version, silly me. Sorry about that, it won't happen again!}}
"Dodge it!" Quinn shouted, but it was a waste of effort; the Quick Attack, which was built for speed, hit Shro before she could even squeal in protest. The Sunkern landed face-first in the dirt; whining something awful. "Come on, Shro, get up, it was just a knock!" Quinn sighed, as the stripy little thing pulled herself upright, and started squealing in the highest pitch she could muster. "Now pull yourself together and Mega Drain!" The Sunkern, angry at the Starly for embarassing her so, forced herself up into the air, her little wings working overtime; and then, another burst of energy towards the little bird.

The nimiety of health suctioned from Starly had weakened him, but he had the strength the recent spray of orbs by veering to the left, tucking his wings into his body for protection. How he abominated these Grass Types. Always suctioning health from others for their own personal gain. All too sentient to the gelid sensation running through his small form as the Sunkern continued to bombard him with attacks, Starly couldn't quite muster a Quick Attack, but instead aimed a Tackle at the nefarious little kernel. ::starly:: Mood: Frustrated. Shro, once again, failed to dodge; but luckily, all these Mega Drains and Absorbs had kept her health up, otherwise she'd be a goner by now. And seeing as those were her best offensive attacks, Quinn felt it was only the best motive to carry on with them; once Shro learned a new move, then they could chop and change it a bit, but for now, they were stuck with these absorption attacks. The stripy little Sunkern was knocked into a tree this time; she slid down the bark pitifully, her eyes watering like a little baby. "Oh, don't have a strop!" Quinn scorned, as Shro refused to move. "Not in a battle. Absorb! Absorb now, Shro, otherwise you'll be in a lot of trouble!" Flattery and bribery never worked on Shro; it was always the fear of punishment that made her obey. She decided to stop sulking at the base of the tree, and flew upwards once more, blasting another Absorb at the Starly.

The Starly growled, the Absorb hit once again and his energy was sucked away. He couldn't stand this any longer! He was battling a seed! It was clear who the winner was already, he puffed his chest up and flew in for a Tackle. He snickered at himself and started to daydream how it would end. He'd end up the victor and fly away with his prize. A good meal. He sighed as he went in for the Tackle, not watching where exactly he was going.

The Tackle hit Shro again; Quinn made a mental note to give the little Sunkern some exercises into dodging. But once again, thanks to the Absorbs and the Mega Drains, she wasn't completely devoid of energy, so she zipped back up into the air again, chirping persistently. The Starly must be getting really annoyed... Good. If the Starly wasn't gonna back down, neither were they! Helix and Birthday had been quietly scrabbling against each other behind the blonde, with Helix knocking the Smoochum casually into the dirt at every opportunity, taking the chance to vent out his frustration against her while their trainer's back was turned, whilst Birthday tried her best to beat up the Shuppet. But Quinn's eyes were totally fixed on the battle; Shro wavered uncertainly in the air. "Growth, then a BIG Mega Drain this time, Shro!" Quinn Delessin ordered, her hands moving animatedly in the air to prove her point. Sparkles surrounded the Sunkern as she performed Growth, tucking in on herself slightly... then, POW! Her biggest Mega Drain yet exploded out of her once the last sparkle had died away, a channel of energy rocketing towards the Starly.

Starly screeched as the energy was sucked away. That little seed was goin down! He fluffed his feathers, soaring in to attack. His plummage fluffed like a superstar, Starly grinned. <You're going to lose! You're going to lose!> He chanted.

Shro felt the Mega Drain gift her with energy; but, alas, it wasn't enough. Just as Quinn and the little Sunkern gained confidence, the Starly mustered enough energy to come out of nowhere - Shro hadn't seen it coming in the slightest. Knocked down into the ground, the Sunkern lay there for a while, contemplating whether she could get up. The blonde trainer shouted at her to do so; but, her muscles just didn't want to work. So she lay there, defeated, before the last of her energy trickled away and she blacked out.
SHRO has FAINTED!
Kimmie facepalmed; damn it! She needed to get a grip on Shro's battling skills. But for now, well... walking over to the casualty, she took Shro in the palm of her hand and blew a little air on her; nothing. She was out for the count. Shaking her head slightly, Quinn slipped the stripy little seed Pokémon into her pocket - it was one of Shro's favourite places, pretty cosy and warm, plus, the Pokeball was out of the question at the moment, due to the intense sparking. "You win this time, Starly. Well done." She nodded to the grey puffball.

The Starly put a wing on his chest. <Why thank you! I have to say though, you weren't too bad yourself.> he said rather proudly. His ego was getting the best of him again. He raised an eyebrow at the Trainer. <I do have to say though, you seem to know what you're doing...you weren't happen to have room for one more, would you?> This took a lot of pride to swallow, after all, he did like being wild but he knew he could get more powerful in the hands of a Trainer.

A Starly? Hmm... sure, they were cute, but would they be that useful in the long run? Quinn contemplated... the Starly would be a good bartering tool, anyway. Plus, Birthday and Helix needed another member to tone down the bickering. Maybe the Starly would be good for them. And when it evolved..., a Staraptor would be pretty cool. So she removed a sparking Pokeball carefully from her belt, throwing it like it was a hot potato at the bird, nodding in reply.

<Whoa! Whoa! Whoa! That looks dangerous.> The Starly pointed an accusing wing at the flying Pokeball, but did not realize that when it touched him, it would instantly take him inside. He certainly did not like that part of the bargain, that was for sure. Once inside, the Pokeball crackled strongly, as if struggling with all of its might to keep him inside.
Then he popped back out, looking tired, battered, and weakened. That had really, really hurt. What was the meaning of this?! He stared at the now broken Pokeball, that had used up what little effort it had trying to contain him. He had to admit it, the sparks caught him off guard.
<I-I'm sorry. Could we try that again? It surprised me.> He panted, looking a lot more injured than before. Even now, some of the static was crackling around his feathered body. Why did this have to happen to him?
