- This time the Mud Bomb hit the Totodile spot on, though she didn't like that the Mud Bomb had to be shot the way it was. It was always shot into the sky, when the Barboach stuck its head above the surface. What was it thinking? She soon found the reason when more mud started to splatter unpredictably into the water, some of it landing painfully on her back, forcing her to sink deeper into the mushy bottom.
- What was the meaning of this!? She hated the feeling of this slime sliding off of her back. She started to spin in the water, getting some of the mud off of her, but it was heavy. Swimming was going to tire her out more than before. Her eyes started to glitter with a light red, signaling the beginning of her Rage attack as she charged towards the Barboach with teeth and claws ready to tear into it.
- "Ace...tate. Neon fought that thing?" He questioned, after seeing the remains of mud on the Magnemite's silver body. The mud contrasted greatly, making it stand out. The Shieldon turned his head in surprise, not expecting his master to awaken so suddenly. That Ekans was nearby too, which made him nervous. Wild Pokémon didn't like humans very much, so he protectively filled the gap between the snake and his trainer. Only as a precaution. He quietly returned Neon into her Pokeball, making a note to heal her at the next Pokémon Center as soon as he could.

::barboach:: ::ekans:: Pokemon encounter ! Seeing the Shieldon as a sort of protector, the serpent nodded toward him in gratitude and slithered toward the water's edge again. His wounds were throbbing from mud and his throat was still parched and coated with dirt that had entered his jaws by the thrashing Barboach. T'was a good thing to be wary of wild pokemon, but this wounded, pitiful Ekans was not one that would cause much disturbance in this situation.
Meanwhile, Barboach's health was lowering at every moment. Immediately after firing off the sphere of mud at his reptilian foe he rested, losing his focus on the battle for a few moments. After the small rest, the mud fish raised his head and looked around; unfortunately, by then Ethyl had begun swimming back toward him with teeth and claws shining.
Barboach succumbed to the ripping and shredding, giving a silent wail of bubbles as he was dragged deeper into the water. Ultimately, Ethyl's raised strength was what done the fish in; without it he would surely have had enough energy to counterattack once more.
Spent, the muddied, bloodied fish tilted until his body was belly-up and rose silently to the surface of the water. Dirtied scales could not reflect the sun, so enveloped in mud from the struggle.
Barboach was hit by Rage. Barboach has fainted! Neon and Ethyl gain .5 levels each. Attempt capture or move on?

[/b] Seamus barked, completely caught off guard at her strange behavior. Never had he seen her Rage take her so far off the plank, even becoming a tad frightened at her sudden change in personality. Acetate stood frozen, never seeing a Pokémon so close to death before. Instantly the Totodile stopped at her trainer's command, eyes returning to their normal shade as she let go of the Pokémon. She stared at the blood that surrounded it in confusion, until she realized that she was the one at fault for such a situation. Guilt crossed over her as she let out a pained moan. "...I'll catch it." He said with a sigh, seeing the Barboach's body get pushed closer to him as the water rippled towards him. If he didn't, it would surely have trouble surviving out here, wouldn't it? Something about that didn't sit right with him. Taking out a Pokeball, he tossed it at the Barboach as Ethyl climbed out of the water, unable to meet Acetate's eye. Pokeball x 1 Used [/ul] Tagged: Mods/Admins. ooc:// o3o It's BLUEEEEE. Seamus picked up the Barboach's Pokeball, carefully rubbing it clean of the muck and water with a tissue he kept in his pocket. Once satisfied, he looked down at his two Pokemon, watching them carefully before walking towards the long bridge to the next city. Ethyl gave Acetate a sheepish glance, following the two males with a lowered head, knowing that she had gone a bit overboard. Once they reached the city, the very first thing he did was take them all to the Pokemon Center. Some supplies were gathered as well, giving the group some time to rest up. Seamus even had time to write down his findings from the route, gathering random plant data he found and sent them in to labs for further analysis. Basically, it meant a nice pay check. When the team was fully rested up, he headed back to the route with Neon floating by his side. The pair was leisurely walking along the wooden bridge, trying to cross back onto the fresh grass of the route. Neon was nibbling on her second rare candy, a prize from who knows where, that instantly made her two levels stronger. ::magnemite:: |Level 13| Tagged: Mods/Admins. ooc:// Basically, he left for the city and came back. Dumped! The shame! And she had done it in front of all his friends too. Despite their words of comfort after it had happened, he had sworn he could hear his fellow Volbeat laughing, as teenagers often did at the misfortune of others. He would show her and his so called friends he wasn't a weakling, and that he could grow strong on his own, and then she would be sorry, especially when he had all the Illumise crowding around him, begging to be his girlfriend. Wishful thinking or not, the daydream had the Volbeat in a daze until he saw the the Trainer and his Pokemon. One was eating Rare Candies, valuable treats that made Pokemon stronger. Maybe if he battled the Trainer, and proved himself worthy, he would take him on his journey, and help him to become strong? Before he could convince himself otherwise, he had landed straight in front of the Trainer, wings buzzing loudly as he put his hands on his hips. "Hey you! Fight me!" he ordered. ::volbeat:: Volbeat challenges you. [/B]

Seamus looked up at interest at the funny looking bug type, adjusting the glasses that had slipped down his broad nose to get a better view of it. It had some facsinating features decorating his body, including a tail that appeared to light up. On command? He did not know all of the details, but the species interested him. A battle just might have been worth doing. His gaze shifted over to Neon, only to check if the Volbeat had said anything of interest that would have prevented such a task. Instead, she gave him a pleasant surprise when she went forward, electricity cackling from the magnets at her sides as she prepared for a fight. "Very good. Fight we shall. Metal Sound, Neon." Seamus advised, taking several steps back to be on the safe side. In fact, he was really more on the long bridge now while Neon was hovering over the grassy surface. A bit of an awkward place to start, but it would do. She started the fight by making an annoyingly loud sound that vibrated throughout her body. It could sharply lower an opponent's Special Defense; making it very annoying. ::magnemite:: |Level 13| Uses Metal Sound

Volbeat smiled smugly as the Trainer accepted his challenge, but the smile was quickly wiped off his face as a high pitched whine sliced through his Special Defense like a knife through butter, his sensitive insect earlobes in agony from the sound as a dull pain pulsed in both his left and right temple. Well, if that was the case, Volbeat would have to make up for the defense expropriated from him by increasing his evasion. He began to flit around, leaving flickering, slightly wizened afterimages in his wake. Hopefully, that would daze the Electric/Steel type a little, allowing his next attack, a Tackle attack, to knock the Magnemite off guard a little. Without waiting to see how well his Evasion raising move worked, he zoomed towards his opponent, wings buzzing aggressively. ::volbeat:: Volbeat used Double Team and Tackle. [/B]

The Magnemite looked around in confusion when the Volbeat cleverly hid himself in a fog of his own clones. Her sight jumped from one possible Volbeat to the next, but found that only one had a clear enough image to define. It appeared...different ish from the rest? Before she could ponder this more, the real one had charged at her with a Tackle attack. The force of the blow hadn't made her budge in the slightest, having a natural resistance to such moves. Seamus snickered, finding this the reason why he enjoyed Steel types so much. Somehow he became a collector of them, even though they had quite the rarity attached to them. Neon was already crackling with electricity, ready to strike before the real Volbeat could hide behind his clones. It really depended on how fast he could get away. "Thundershock." Seamus consented to her choice of attack, figuring that the Metal Sound should have doubled the electric type attack's power. In a sense. Really, the Volbeats defense was lowered, so it would only feel like it had twice the power. Neon shot out the weak electric attack with haste, controlling the electric blast so it would be raised a bit higher in the air than usual, preparing to attack the flying opponent while it was moving. ::magnemite:: Hit by Tackle Uses Thundershock Tagged: Mods/Admins. ooc:// Pokemon: Neon. The electric attack took Volbeat by surprise. The shock ran the course of his body, and he could still feel a tingling in his wings as they beat to hold him in the air, body feeling slightly numb. <Well... you don't experience that feeling every day...> he shuddered, feeling his energy sapped from the stronger-than-normal attack.
He hovered for a moment, staring as his opponent as his eyes shone a rich purple. The attack shot forwards towards the magnemite; it's intent? To confuse of course.
If his plan had been successful, he'd hopefully have a moment to breath and to get that horrid static feeling out of his tiny little insect wings. It really wasn't a very pleasant feeling to say the least!

The malicious purple wave of energy lingered around the Magnemite's body, even though she was capable of dodging it. Seamus could have told her to dodge, but he was curious about its effects. What was it? the scientist in him demanded answers, and his curiosity needed to be satisfied. At first Neon had gained an uneasy tranquility, appearing high and zoned out. <Ger-bazzit.> Her voice became jumbled up as her magnets began to rotate at fast speeds, suddenly revolving around her entire body as her mind turned to dust. Picking up the pieces would have been difficult, but for now, the pair had to deal with this. "Confusion? Ah. Mmhmm. I see. Now, let's see what would happen with two Confused opponents. Supersonic." He ordered, knowing that even a confused Pokemon had the chance to attack. Unfortunately, this was not one of those times. Supersonic was a highly inaccurate attack to begin with, but paired up with a confusion status? No way. The Magnemite shot out a high pitched sound while scrambling about, and somehow she zigzagged into her own attack. It was harmless, of course. Though very annoying. ::MAGNEMITE:: Confused Uses Supersonic...on itself. Tagged: Mods/Admins. ooc:// THAT WAS PROBABLY CHEAP. But I'll be harder on her? Pokemon: Neon [/font]

::volbeat:: Pokemon encounter ! Volbeat gave a buzz of laughter as he saw the confused machine shoot out a Supersonic, only to enter it herself. However, there were still stray waves that flew in different paths around their vicinity. Unfortunately for the Volbeat, some approached him unnoticed and subtly affected his next move.
The insect was preparing to launch himself at his magnetic foe in a tackle, but just as he was rushing forward the waves hit him. The shock they sent through his nerves caused him to forget what he was doing for just that brief moment, stopping him in his tracks. This slight bewilderment cost him the turn. In addition, he was standing vulnerable in front of her foe - an opening, if she was in any condition to exploit it.

'Huh? It...had some use?' Seamus looked up, adjusting his glasses once more when his curious gaze shifted to the momentarily stunned Volbeat. He had assumed that Supersonic would have missed completely, but it had spared Neon some damage this turn. He would have to go over his probability charts again sometime, wondering the use of this so called 'Double Team'. "Tackle it, if you please." Seamus asked, feeling a bit kinder towards the Confused Magnemite. Perhaps it was pity? Either way, somehow the mechanical Pokémon comprehended the command. She ended up flying right through a clone, which was easy for a non-confused person's eye to distinguish, and swerving uneasily into the surface of the water. The Magnemite slowly rose back up, still completely confused, and unable to understand why some of her body was cold and wet. Seamus saw it as a good effort, but more data would be needed if he was to ever figure this out. Right around then, a funny shockwave made the very earth rumble as strange waves passed through all of their bodies. The scientist looked up, completely alarmed at this discovery, while Neon seemed to have a strange effect. <Function?> She spoke coherently, a normal look appearing in her eye as she looked around. The images around her that once looked like blurs now made perfect sense to her. "A strange magnetic repulsion fluctuating in the air, causing Neon's magnetic body to correct itself? By god. How insane." The man stuttered, mostly science gibber-jabber, but it seemed completely impressive to him. Although he could feel the strange tremor and atmosphere in the air, the Volbeat paid little heed to the disruption. Still slightly dizzy from wandering into the confusing waves, he did not even notice right away the expropriation of his opponent’s confusion by the magnetic energy in the air. Shaking his antenna to clear his head, the Volbeat managed to snap out of his own daze and back into the battle.
Proving himself to this trainer was a high priority if he was to become stronger. And stronger he would become. He just needed to hang on a while longer. A soft glow surrounded the insect and he was filled with a pleasant tingling sensation, far more enjoyable than the electricity that still hummed in his ears. As he had learned under the tutelage of his father, Moonlight was strongest under the moon. In all honesty, he hadn’t needed his father to tell him that. It was obvious. Still, he felt refreshed enough to fling himself at the Magnemite in a tackle.

Seamus went to his Pokedex for some data on the bright attack the Volbeat was using, but it suddenly started to fuzz up, the screen that is. It made half coherent noises, all jumbled up so everything was out of place. in fact, he thought his Pokedex was talking about a completely different Pokemon entirely from the words that were pieced together. "Neon, take the Tackle and use Metal Sound." He ordered, noticing that the Volbeat had a refreshed look to his appearance. Whatever move it was, he had healed himself in some way. Even more to that, it was managing to score an attack in as well. 'Probably didn't get much time to heal.' He considered, watching as the Magnemite took the normal type move with strong resistance. <Sound!> She cried out, letting out an incredibly loud Metal Sound at the Volbeat right after his move was made. At this close range, it would have been a miracle to dodge, even with the clones. However, she still needed to get an offensive move in. Now that would have to take some aim, considering the Volbeat wouldn't risk being so close to her now. "Thundershock." He commanded, knowing that even if this Metal Sound had missed, the Volbeat already had his special defense sharply lowered in a previous turn. Stat moves. They were useful. Neon charged with electricity before shooting it off at where she believed the Volbeat was, knowing that it could always be a pesky clone. ::magnemite:: { Neon } Level 13 Hit by Tackle Uses Metal Sound + Thundershock Tagged: Mods/Admins. ooc:// If you want Metal Sound to miss, just say it heard it but wasn't phased. or something. The bug pokemon had no time to react or get away from the metal sound and the piercing noise hit it's sensitive ears like an atom bomb. The noise was unbearable and if the male wasn't tumbling to the ground after his tackle he probably would have curled up into a ball and cried. This was much worse then the first time the noise happened seeing how close he was this round.
Right as his tiny bug feet touched the ground, the Volbeat crumbled in pain as electricity coursed through him. Huffing in agony, the insect pushed himself back to his feet before gazing at Neon with disdain. Turning around, it almost seemed that he was about to leave but then he did something that might take the electric pokemon by surprise. His butt was glowing suddenly in a flash of light.
Turning quickly around and shutting off his flashers he launched again at Neon in a tackle, hoping that the pokemon was blinding by his oh so bright buttock.

Seeing the Thundershock strike the Volbeat was a great sign of relief, and judging from the look of pain on its face, the Metal Sounds were doing their job. Seamus felt a shimmer of hope from within him, getting excited of this small magnet made Pokemon defeating such an interesting creature. The Volbeat was about twice her size, making him appear stronger. However, he believed that Neon was more dense. Sturdier. "What is this?" He asked, a bit surprised to see a great flash of light emerge from the pond. Or was it the sky? By now his vision was getting hazy, even with the protection of his sunglasses. Neon let out a surprised garble, her magnets spinning wildly as the Volbeat tackled her right into the ground. She was so surprised when he hit her right in the center, that it ended up being a critical hit. With a pained squeak, the Magnemite unstably got back into the air, clearly stunned that a Tackle had done that much damage. And what was this madness?! She was seeing...spots? What? There was a lot going on around her; multiple Volbeat clones, these blurry spots in her eyes, and her sides hurt. "Thundershock." Seamus felt a bit uneasy with the Flash attack, but at least he had some sunglasses on for protection. His eyes centered on the thickest, most visible Volbeat in the area. Was that the real one though? Even he was confused at this point. Neon let out another Thundershock at one of the Volbeats, clearly getting confused and lost at this point. ::magnemite:: { Neon } Level: 13 Accuracy -1, Hit by Tackle (Critical Hit) Uses Thundershock. Despite the Magnemite’s lack of confidence in his target, the Thundershock managed to hit the correct Volbeat. Having expected some respite after using the Flash attack, the insect had been unable to prevent the truculent attack from striking its body. Crying out in pain, the Volbeat sank, again, to the ground in order to catch its breath after the shocks had finished coursing through its veins. There was still that ringing, that painful metal-on-metal sound, playing in his ears, and with that last electric attack he was just about finished.
There would be no giving up. The Magnemite was weakening, too. He would not be the focus of all the scuttlebutts in the region. No, he could still make this work. Forcing himself to regain his wings, he turned his rump to Neon and let out another bright burst of light in a second attempt to blind the metallic creature even more. Seamus hissed when his eyes were exposed to the bright light once more, and he could tell that Neon was not handling it much better. She attempted to shield her eye by blocking it with her magnets, using them like hands, but it was futile. Even through them, the light cracked through, hurting her exposed eye. <Spots. So many spots.> She stressed, turning around wildly only to face many Volbeat clones. They were everywhere. Yes, she attacked some, but that pesky Volbeat used it twice on her. The flashes...they were so bright. So vivid. They made her see purple and green spots wherever she turned, almost scaring her. "I'm not wasting my time with this. Neon, be sure to take any attacks. Behave now." He grinned, taking out one of the giant Ultraballs from his coat pocket. It didn't spark nearly as much as the Pokeballs, and from what he heard, these were the big guns. Smug laughter managed to emerge from the Volbeat’s mouth despite all his weakness. The Magnemite was clueless, without a single clue of what to do. What a malleable creature; he had been able to control it just by flashing a few bright lights. It was nice, being back in control of his life for just a moment. A short moment it was. Before he could turn around to hear what that strange whooshing noise was, he was sucked inside the Ultra Ball.
For a few seconds, he struggled. No, way! The battle wasn’t over yet, he wasn’t through! He’d fight to grow stronger no matter what! But wait… wouldn’t being with a trainer make him grow even more powerful? He wouldn’t be the target of negative scuttlebutts if he came back someday, a strong insect, to laugh at all his weak old friends. Yes. It wouldn’t be bad to get extra training with this human. He was a decent enough trainer.
Luckily for both Seamus and the Volbeat, the Ultra Ball managed to work properly despite the strange energy in the air. After a few shakes, the ball pinged and fell silent.
