After his victory in the Electric Gym, Seamus departed from the city after two days of resting up. There wasn't that much to see there, and he was particularly bored because most of the city's attractions involved interacting. It wasn't the older gentleman's strong suit, if you couldn't tell from the way he was dressed. He looked quite serious in his heavy black lab coat, shielding him from the sudden weather change. Summer's weather was withering away before him, and it was turning into his favorite season.
The trees had hardly begun to change color, but that was quite alright with him. The man walked upon the fresh grass of the route, holding a black leather suitcase that looked pretty important. Ahead of him was a long bridge that crossed over to the next city, but he wasn't all that eager to going over there just yet. There was business to attend to.
"Ethyl. Come out." He held her Pokeball in his free hand and released the Totodile from her container. As she was released, she stretched her arms so they went behind her neck, cracking her back in the process. 'Ah, that had felt good'-- her expression said.
"You fainted in that Gym Battle. You know what we have to do." He explained, frowning upon the young Totodile like a mean dad that was never happy. Except he had anything but fatherly feelings for the being. Hearing his tone of voice made her visibly flinch, and she shrunk a little as she looked up at him with sad eyes. Yes, she was going to try her best to make him happy today.

Fisherman TedA fisherman was in a busy tussle with his prey, a Gyarados that had taken a fancy to his bait. With a half-smirk half-frustrated face, he hauled the line with all his might. This action required his full concentration - he wasn't going to let this beauty get away from him.
Suddenly, however, he heard steps approaching. He turned his face to see who was coming, which broke his concentration. The man realized his mistake too late - Gyarados had already begun swimming in the other way, the monstrous beast's pull enough to bring the fisherman off of his chair. With a curse, the fisherman chose to abandon the catch and cut loose the line, which the wild serpent made off with.
Turning, he berated Seamus. "Hey! Everyone knows you're not supposed to interrupt a man while he's fishin'!" He growled smugly, gnarled hand over the two pokeballs on his belt.

As he walked a little to the side of the bridge, not all that willing to walk across it when he wasn't ready to leave the route, there was quite a bit of activity going on further down. Curious, he turned to face the fisherman's rather lucky catch. From the looks of it, there was a raging sea monster at the end of the line, and somehow the fisherman was able to reel it in part of the way. Seeing that it didn't have that much to do with him, he started to walk further away to an area where Wild Pokémon weren't frightened by the commotion.
<Um...boss? I think that he wants to talk to you.> Ethyl shyly commented, ducking her head within her arms so she wouldn't have to see his reprimanding look. Instead, he paid more attention to the angry fisherman, who appeared to blame him for something. He caught some of what he said at least, but more importantly, he saw the Pokeballs at his waist. Two, to be exact.
"...it's your own damn fault for being incompetent. Go fish somewhere else if you don't want to be bothered." He replied sourly, glancing down at his Totodile and back to the man. It appeared as if he wanted to battle. So be it. He grabbed another Pokeball at random and sent out Chromate, his Beedrill.
<Wassup wassup, homeboys!> The energetic Beedrill announced as soon as he was free, buzzing around Seamus and Ted's heads excitedly.
<...what about me?> Ethyl asked, knowing full well that she wasn't a boy.
<What about you?> The Beedrill asked in a scorning voice, flying down next to the Totodile and poking her in the head. She grumbled at the abuse, only rubbing the tiny wound as she muttered her complaints.

Fisherman Ted The fisherman gave a grumble at the man's comment, but didn't let down on his implied challenge for a battle. Wordlessly, he reached toward his pokeballs and pressed their buttons, unleashing them both into the water around them. From one a small, insignificant Magikarp showed and began flapping through the water. From the other, a huge Gyarados came roaring out, a true monster of the sea in size and ferocity. He dove through the waters and reappeared near the insignificantly-sized Beedrill and Totodile, hissing at them in anticipation for the battle they would share.
"You go first." Growled the man.

Seamus flinched as he saw his opponent's magnificent Gyarados appear on the field. Its size and power was clearly shown in its appearance, and out of awe he was forced to draw out his Pokedex to see what he was up against. As he scanned through the data on the high tech screen, he realized that a lot of this stuff was obvious. It was a water type, was very big, and known for having quite the temper. He didn't quite see how it was a flying type, as the Pokedex stated. Perhaps there was more to this beast that met the eye? The other looked like something he ate for lunch the other day. Nothing stood out about it at all.
"Did you take that from the Sushi place in the next city?" He asked mockingly, wondering why he would have even sent out such a creature in the first place. Ethyl and Chromate were pretty intimidated by that Gyarados though, perhaps even enough to cut their attack stat in half, as the Pokedex said. This could prove to be difficult.
"It's not as bad as it looks. Just do what you usually do." He stated to his team, as if to encourage them. That was a bit of an odd statement from the man, but to him, it didn't seem unnatural at all. He just wanted to win.
"So use String Shot and Scary Face on it. Chop chop." Seamus ordered in a bored tone, wanting this giant beast to be as invasive as possible. Chromate was the first to react, and in haste he flew around the giant water beast. His String Shot was aimed around the neck of the beast in an attempt to keep it still. Then Ethyl hopped up to the edge of the body of water, ignoring the flopping fish and used a threatening Scary Face on the beast.

Fisherman Ted The fisher smirked as the man took obvious curiosity in his huge Gyarados. He was proud of him, that huge fish, having trained him for ages until he'd finally outgrown his brethren in every aspect. Flippy, his teammate, was nothing compared to him.
Which is why Ted wasn't surprised when Seamus insulted his fish, although it was still offensive. He scowled at the verbal attack, but could not retaliate, seeing as the man's pokemon were fierce-looking themselves. Ted stayed silent, watching as his opponent's pokemon executed their attacks.
He didn't make a move as the Gyarados performed by himself, attempting to dodge the coming sticky web. His attempt failed, most of the gunk wrapping around his neck and subduing the beast. "Bite on the Beedrill, now." Ted said firmly. The water monster complied, ignoring the face that the little Totodile aimed at him and baring his fangs. Aiming for the bee, he attempted to launch his gargantuan jaws at the puny-looking insect.
"Tackle." Ted commanded, obviously targeted at his weaker Magikarp. The carp thought for a moment, trying to remember what this move meant. After a few seconds it clicked, and with a delighted glub the fish swam toward the Totodile and flopped at her.

Noticing that the Gyarados was coming towards him while the String Shot was still stuck in his mouth, Chromate flung his front stingers into the thread in an effort to break the sticky chain. It was a clean cut, and that stupid water beast wouldn't be able to drag him around if he tried to. Unfortunately, the water demon's neck was plenty long enough to reach the Beedrill, and one little snap of those fangs could be disastrous for him. Gulping, the Beedrill made a valiant effort to dodge but the Gyarados had gotten him in the abdomen.
<C-christ!> He gasped out, feeling those fangs pierce right into him. It was a sharp nip, nothing long or deadly, but enough to damage him a good deal. That was the problem with being a bug; they were fragile.
Ethyl groaned once her Scary Face went ignored, ending up getting splashed by the water instead as the water beast made its move on Chromate. She ended up getting knocked down to the ground from the motion, coughing up water in the process. 'Ugh. How miserable.' She thought, getting herself up off of the ground. There was a strange flopping noise from right behind her, and she turned out of curiosity.
Flop...flop...flop...
<...Really? Mr.Fishie, you're better off moving in the water.> Ethyl suggested, since this random flopping was easy to predict and rather slow on land. She turned towards the water and made a leap for it, diving inside for the Magikarp to follow her. She honestly felt bad for fighting such a weak opponent, and tried to give it more of a chance.
"Ok then. Use Poison Sting, Chromate. Ethyl, what are you doing?" Seamus asked, raising an eyebrow. Honestly, what a stupid Pokemon. That fish was much easier to attack on land, and what was she doing trying to lure it into the water? "Use Aqua Tail on the surrounding water. See if that'll do something." He commanded rather lazily, waving his left hand up and down as if brushing the problem away.
Ethyl gave the Magikarp a good hard look from the top of the water, and with the surrounding liquid gathering around her tail, she twirled around vigorously in an attempt to splash a large amount of water in the Magikarp's direction. Even though Chromate was injured, he still had the strength to use quite a bit of his best moves. With his poisonous two front stingers extended, he charged towards the Gyarados totally prepared to make multiple strikes.

Fisherman Ted ! He hissed a challenge as Beedrill flew dangerously close to him, the motion causing saliva, bits of underwater plant, and even pebbles to fly out of the gigantic monster's jaws. Almost mockingly the water beast watched the Beedrill as he came close, his chest rumbling as he growled in his throat. Soon the poisonous stingers came, and Gyarados attempted to move his neck around to avoid the attack, but his huge bulk was simply too easy of a target to hit. The two talons jabbed into him once, twice, and three times before the huge serpent reeled away from his opponent. Toxins began flowing in the beast's bloodstream, causing him dire pain. He roared as the poisons began to cripple his sleek, long body.
Flippy, meanwhile, was displeased at herself for missing the Tackle on Ethyl. Seeing the Totodile jump into the water, the fish flopped back in and, like the little reptile planned, swam after her. Soon, however, she felt the painful effects of the Aqua Tail as she was shoved backward by the column of water. The force sent her floating quite a ways away, and she ended up hitting her head on one of the pillars holding up the bridge of Route 2. It took a moment for her to regain her composure from the bump, but once she did she swam frantically back toward Ethyl.
Seeing that the Magikarp was under the water and would likely not hear him, Ted turned his head towards his Gyarados. "Thrash," He commanded.
Gyarados, hearing his trainer's command, turned to face the Beedrill and gave a vicious hiss. Then he let the pain coursing throughout his body control him - he allowed his entire body to shake and thrash about, splashing columns of water into the air. As he did this, he neared Chromate. The plus side to his large, snake-like body was that it was often hard to dodge.
Magikarp, determined to be useful to her trainer, swam towards the Totodile and readied herself for another Tackle. She turned to the side whilst paddling in order to slam her side into the Totodile's.

As the pillars of water shot up from the grand, crystal clear lake, Chromate found himself in a big dilemma. Buzzing heavily after that beastly bite from before, he was struggling in vain in order to dodge this massive Pokemon's attacks. What was his trainer thinking, sending him out against something this big and strong? Still, he had to put on a confident act or else Seamus might do something terrible to him later on. The Gyarados's tail knocked into him as if he was nothing but a mere fly, sending him zooming through the air from the blow. "New plan. Attack from afar. Don't you dare risk getting near that thing." Seamus advised, cursing his luck for having to face such a strong Pokemon. Why couldn't it have been something weak? Still, he couldn't help but notice that the giant beast was a bit slow from the String Shot. Maybe they could keep working with that. "String Shot again on the Gyarados, then use Ominous Wind. Ethyl, stop playing around. Attack the Gyarados with Bite." He grumbled out as soon as his Totodile was attacked with a rather weak Tackle. She rubbed the back of her head, where the fishie had hit her, and merely smiled sympathetically. Ok, that had hurt, but she had orders to follow. Right as Chromate flew a bit higher than the dangerous Gyarados, he let it rain String Shot upon the Gyarados's head. Even with all of that thrashing about, some of it was bound to stick on it. Then he started to beat his flimsy wings rapidly, generating an eerie ghostly power as it blew towards his opponent. Ethyl found herself attacked by the thrashing beast in the process, but made an effort to cling onto the Gyarados's weak looking tail and bite into it. Ted watched his pokemon, they were fairly well trained and didn't need his constant directions in order to win a battle. Sometimes he had to yell commands at Flippy since she was well.. Slow. But Crash? He was fine. A little direction here and there and he dominated the battle field.
Crash couldn't help but let out a half growl, half laugh, as his trash hit both opponents. I mean, what more can you ask for? However, his attention was more on the Beedrill then the Totodile who he believe to still be messing around with Flippy. This theory would be proven wrong seconds later as an irritating and, actually quite painful, bite had attached the water type to his tail. Turning his attention to the water pokemon, the Gyarados didn't see the string shot coming right at him, nor did he see the Ominous Wind.
The string wrapped all around the water pokemon's body. He thrashed in anger and the wind, hurting the giant more, made the movements wilder, more unpredictable. Water splashed up from all around him and it was more convenience then plan that the water shot Flippy into the air.
The fish, not sure what was happening, started trying to splash about in the air. Oh so effective. But maybe she could distract the Beedrill from doing much the next round. Who knew. All she knew what that she was a flying fish and didn't enjoy it.
Ted face palmed himself at Flippy's stupidity.

Seamus felt his pulse quicken as the magnificent beast before him thrashed about; its beauty of power and strength was simply entrancing for the power hungry man. He gulped, trying to restrain himself from taking the Pokemon then and there. Like he'd be able to even do that anyways. Physically, he was a wimp compared to the giant, muscular fisherman. Ethyl had been tossed away like a rag doll, her own strength not able to match up to the stronger Gyarados. However, Chromate was faring well. He was much too high up in the air for the Thrash attack to hit him, and that double dose of String Shot was doing wonders. This was all a good sign, though he felt that if Ethyl was taken down, things wouldn't be so good. "Yes...I think we can work with this." Seamus muttered, mostly in quiet encouragement of his own team members. Was this his first trainer battle? No, he vaguely recalled one back in the first route. This was much more challenging, that was for sure. "Chromate, we have a good chance of winning if you can poison it. Let's use Twineedle this time." He suggested, despite the type disadvantage, it was much more likely to cause poison because it could be used in rapid succession. Each time it hit, there was a chance of the poison status. The Beedrill nodded, and zoomed in super close the the dangerous thrashing Gyarados. It was difficult maneuvering when it was so big and water was all over, but he managed to get close enough for some hits on Crash's side. "Ethyl, I think its time to use your Rage." Seamus rubbed his chin thoughtfully, as if not so sure about that command. Having two Pokemon on the field blinded with anger on the field seemed pretty bad, but his Pokemon would get an attack boost for each hit. Didn't Thrash confuse the user? It seemed like a plan, for the moment at least. Ethyl swiftly dug her claws into her sides, quickly spiking her temper into the extreme. Once enraged, she furiously swam towards Crash with a vengeful glare, teeth and claws ready to attack it. Tagged: Mods/Admins. ooc:// So this should be a pretty even fight. Pokemon: Ethyl. Chromate.

Crash felt several painful stings pierce his smooth blue scales and roared in pain, his Thrash intensified by his rage and pain. He glared and roared, mouth open and teeth gleaming in fury, spittle flying from his maw.
But as he unleashed this last Thrash, Gyarados blinked, looking surprisingly passive for a moment. It then lifted its tail and promptly slapped itself in the face. Ted followed suit, slapping his face with a groan. The Thrash had ended. Crash was confused now.
"Flippy!" yelled Ted. As she continued to splash, his voice went hoarse as he screeched. "FLIPPY!" Flippy turned around to face Ted with a gormless look of total idiocy on her face. Tackle that bee!"
>Carp carp carp carp!> exclaimed Flippy, as she hurled herself at Chromate with a deep voiced, guttural roar.

Ethyl was knocked backwards in the water from that last Thrash attack, feeling a painful soreness in her chest from where the beast's tail had attacked her. It was just infuriating enough to make her Rage power go up, even stronger than the last time. If she was attacked more like this, she could have her attack power raised to a scary degree. She swam towards the Gyarados to avenge herself, claws and teeth eager to bite into the Gyarados's flesh quite unmercifully. "Well. I didn't think that Thrash was...quite like that." Seamus commented, not quite as sure if he wanted a rage freak that attacked itself in confusion. To attack itself so blatantly like that with its tail? Certainly something to not look forward to when that happened with his own Pokemon. Chromate was so focused on getting away from the raging Gyarados, and then stunned at it's sudden change in nature, that Flippy was able to take him right out of the air. And by out of the air, that meant directly into the water. Thankfully, he was able to swim, and flapped his wings rapidly in order to push him up to the surface. Gasping for air, he made his way to the shore with a cold shudder. Bees were not supposed to be wet. It made flying hard, dammit. "Keep it up Ethyl. As for you..." He stared at his Beedrill, uncertain how long it would take for the water on his wings to dry up. If he kept them moving like he was now, then in several minutes, he supposed. The friction and the heat created, as well as the sun and rate of evaporation were all factors here. Unfortunately, he didn't have a calculator. "Let's get that thing out of the way. Poison Sting." Seamus advised, going for a long distance attack this time so Chromate wouldn't have to swim in the water. The Beedrill shot out several poisonous purple stingers from his mouth, all aimed at Flippy. Flippy flapped around with glee at her successful tackle. She made the bee go in the water! She made the bee go in the water!... That was a good thing right? She turned her beady eyes in confusion towards Ted. She did well right? With her attention directed elsewhere she didn't see the poison sting heading right for her. The needles sunk into her body between her fins, the poison driving itself into her blood stream.
Flippy is poisoned.
Crash on the other fin hand was having just a ball of a time. I meant, who wouldn't when you're utterly confused and you have a blue alligator trying to bite a gaping hole in your flesh? Roaring in pain at the successful connection of the bite, the Gyarados turned around and attempted to bite the pest. Only, it's hard to tell his blues when he's confused.... Seeing that the Gyarados wasn't all that interested in attacking the rage-induced Ethyl, using that move seemed a bit useless now. Power wise, it was weaker than Bite at the moment. Assuming he did the math correct in his head, even Aqua Tail would've been better at this point, since she was surrounded by so much water. "Ethyl, change of plans. Bite it." The Irish man nodded towards the beast, even though she couldn't possibly see his body language from underwater. Still a bit emotional from the previous rage, she charged forward at the Gyarados with her long, narrow jaws stretched out like a missile. As she got closer to the beast, she opened them up, revealing her shiny white fangs. Those were definitely something to be avoided, if possible. "Fly, Chromate." Seamus commanded the Beedrill, narrowing his eyes as the bug type hardly got up off of the ground. Falling back down with an exhausted look, the Beedrill gave the signal with a 'no-go'. His wings still needed time to dry off. Turning around so the hot sun was facing them, he groaned in annoyance as he waited for his thin wings to lose the extra weight. "Ok then. Poison Sting the Gyarados this time." He responded, noticing that the Magikarp hadn't bothered to make a move this time. It looked sick, actually. Chromate gave a weak nod, still in pain from that nasty bite from before. Pointing his front stingers at the confused Gyarados in the pond, he shot out several thin poisonous stingers at the huge target. He had enough power in them so they could cover the distance, but it could still be dodged. Tagged: Mods/Admins. ooc:// If that Gyarados wasn't confused, Seamus would've lost by now. Pokemon: Ethyl. Fisherman Ted ! Gyarados gave a roar, attempting to shake off the confusion that was still plaguing his mind. Rubbing his face in his hand, the fisherman shook his head. Shouldn't he have been, well, unconfused by now? This battle was taking a turn for the worse.
Gyarados, feeling his mind lighten a bit, looked down to see what his opponents were doing. Unfortunately, it was too late - he felt a tearing on the lower part of his body and realized that the crocodile had taken a taste of him. Reeling around in pain didn't help much - the Poison Sting that the Beedrill launched afterward also pained the huge sea serpent. Toxins ran through his bloodstream now, and anguish filled him as he realized that his energy was being continually sapped.
Ted said nothing to advise his pokemon, watching carefully as the dragon attempted to overcome his weakened state. He was on the verge of fainting, he knew, and the loss of his health deducted from his speed and power as well. Giving a roar of pain, the Gyarados shot downward and attempted to bite Ethyl.
Flippy felt the toxins coursing through her and gave a groan of pain. But she looked up and saw that her gigantic comrade was having quite a bit of trouble. Have no fear, she thought to herself. Flippy's here!
Swimming toward the water and grimacing from the illness this poison was causing her, she launched her orange body towards the Beedrill once more.

Seeing that Ethyl was still savoring the taste of fresh fish, there wasn't much time for her to stop her Bite attack. All she knew was that the longer she held onto the beast, the more damage he was taking. So like a tiger, she held onto the Gyarados until his fangs chomped down on her backside. Being so small, she was like a potato chip in that mouth of his. She stopped going on the offensive and strained to turn her neck around, finally glaring at the Gyarados in the eyes with a hard to avoid Scary Face. Why, if that didn't shock him enough into lowering his speed, she didn't know what would. Not knowing what was going on exactly when the battle had suddenly went underwater, Seamus was left to command the only Pokemon in visible sight. From what he could see, Chromate was finally able to move around in the air. The Magikarp was swimming towards the Beedrill that was just about to fly over the lake, eager to strike him down with a Tackle. Of course they weren't about to let the fish do that, now were they? "Dodge and strike it down with Fury Attack." Seamus growled, ready to deal a harsh blow to this defensive little fishie. Chromate flew backwards, dodging the Magikarp's air borne Tackle attack. Chasing after her falling body, which was aided by gravity, he shot towards her with his sharp stingers with a rapid fire attack. Multiple hits could be made if it hit, and the damage often varied. Fisherman Ted ! Gyarados gave a strangled roar of pain as the poisons in his body continued to strain his energy. He looked down to see what the totodile was doing and caught her fierce gaze, feeling fear course through him. It was inevitable he'd faint soon, and so he took the initiative and swam through the water toward Ethyl before the poisons took the last of his energy. Whether the attack connected or not, he didn't know - he'd fainted and the length of his body rose to the top of the water, floating like a raft.
Magikarp didn't see the attack of the bee coming, her face angled towards the water, and so was unable to dodge the stabbing talons. She gave a strangled cry of pain as four consecutive hits connected before falling into the water. Blood ran out of her pierced body, and panic set in. She looked forward and saw that her comrade had fallen, his majestic blue body spread out like a bridge.
She realized it was up to her now, if she could even muster up the strength. Taking a deep breath of water, she swam upward and attempted to land a Tackle on Chromate.

Still injured from that grueling bite attack from before, but knowing that she had to escape, Ethyl did the only thing that came to her mind. Swim. Since the Gyarados was still rather slow from the double dose of String Shot, and that Scary Face was the equivalent of two more String Shots, he was quite the slow fish. With her hue of blue blending in with the rest of the water, the giant beast spiraled right past her with his final tackle in the battle. She remained still, clutching her injured chest as Crash rose up to the surface, completely exhausted. In fact, he fainted. Her head popped out of the surface of the water, looking at Seamus for further instructions. She would've liked to stay underwater for more time to heal, but he would've yelled at her for 'not being efficient', or some crap. She sighed, feeling her weariness from the battle catch up with her. "Ethyl, help Chromate finish this off with Aqua Tail." He responded, knowing that with the scariest beast out of the way, he had this battle in the sack. Chromate was hit by the Tackle, again, since she happened to be quite the speedy, determined little bugger. Nearly knocking him out of the sky once more, he flapped his wings extra hard to stay air borne. He sighed in relief when Ethyl came to his rescue, her tail spiraling with water as she prepared to strike the fish. Now that was a good idea! Not wanting to get in Ethyl's way, which would've gotten him wet all over again, he waited for her to finish before he chased after the swimming fish with a Pursuit. Even if the trainer recalled Flippy, this move had no choice but to hit his target. Tagged: Mods/Admins. ooc:// :D Pokemon: Ethyl: Weakened, but able to fight. The Aqua Tail batted the poor Magikarp out of the water, all strength fading from her body as she flew casually towards the blue sky. Just as she thought she was free from the battle, a vicious pursuit hit her with such force that she crashed against the surface of the water, body going limp.
She fainted.
Ted growled. Not only had this punk made him lose such a beautiful catch, but he had just taken out his beloved fish. Recalling Flippy and Crash, he slumped visibly. Today just wasn't his day. He was beginning to feel that maybe he should just pack up and go home.
No! He was a Fisherman! He would not let this get the best of him. Fixing a new hook to the line, he baited it and cast it off into the water. Maybe he still had some luck and today wouldn't be a complete disaster after all.
He muttered something about fish and how he was going to be late for dinner at this rate as he glanced back towards the Trainer who had just defeated him. "Good match," he finished, slightly grudgingly.
Flippy Fainted! You have Defeated Fisherman Ted! Ethyl gains 1 level! Chromate gains 1 level!
