<Oh you aren't my bitch!> The Caterpie wailed as the Sand Attack got in his eyes, and he flopped around like a vulnerable idiot until he was able to see with somewhat blurry vision. His stats were all messed up from dealing with this thing, and he felt played with completely. His eyes were red and puffy from the blow, and as he got a good look at his foe, he looked as if he had been crying.
Except he was too manly to do that. Real men didn't cry. <I give you credit, you're pretty nasty at fighting, dude.> He admitted, backing off with a gulp when he saw freaking flames come out of the ground type's mouth. Ok, that was scary. He wanted to run, but in the middle of his dodge the flames licked him, making him flinch in place as the jaws locked right on him. He howled from the pain as he was released, backing up like a mad man to regain some ground.
Ok, he was cool. He could do this, right? He gulped as he charged ahead at the Sandile, just trying to get a tough looking tackle in without looking like a fool with his pants on the ground. A part of him thought he was going to die, while another already realized he was losing respect points in their eyes by the minute.

Nervously the Sandile bit her lip and glanced back again toward Merrick. Hell, he was definitely growing impatient and more unimpressed with this battle as it was progressing. She’d have to finish it quickly, or she might be the one on the end of his wrath! She used the Death Roll to avoid the Tackle, and cackled darkly before she lunged at the Caterpie in another Fire Fang. This time, if the attack connected, she’d drag him down and initiate another Death Roll to cause a hell of a lot of damage. As far as she was concerned, this Pokémon was just more prey, and if Merrick didn’t want it... Well, she’d eat it, sure, but she didn’t really like Bug Pokémon. Croagunk snickered when the Caterpie’s Tackle missed, and looked curiously at Merrick. The man was deep in thought, as if he were wondering if he should just walk off and leave this Caterpie alone, but Ray would receive experience for this. Hell, she would learn Torment soon, but like that wasn’t anything that she couldn’t do already. It was strange that to be able to ride on a Pokémon’s back, they had to learn Surf or Fly, or even Rock Climb. Couldn’t they do those things anyway? It was just stupid... Note to Mods: Just mod it anyway. Idk where Rubix is but I can't keep waiting for him. I want to get on with training.Kai | 10.5 | Male{ Shadow Pokémon is stronger than normal } { +4 Attack [from Swords Dance] } Used nothing. Ray ("Nibbles") | 7 | Female Intimidate and Moxie Dodged Tackle! Used Fire Fang on the Caterpie. If it connects, Ray will attempt to pull it into a Death Roll.

>I'mma cut you!< The Caterpie said as the Fire Fang connected and it was simply the last words that he was able to say as he was quickly dragged to the ground and into a barrel roll from the attack. It hit hard and it sucked the life basically out of the Caterpie as he lay there for a second, motionless and life less. >I'mma cut...< He said before he stopped and simply fainted from the attack. The two Fire Fangs were simply too much for this weak and sad Caterpie. He tried to act tough but inside he was really just a weakling who had not yet evolved so had not yet gotten stronger. He lay there, with his leg curled up to his body like a dying caterpillar would look and the once tough and threatening pokemon looked so lifeless and sad. What would Merrick do now? Feed or would he spare the caterpillar's life? ::Caterpie:: (-1 defense) (-1 attack) (-1 accuracy) Summary: Hit by Fire Fang. Fainted. +1 level for Sandile. Capture/Kill? Level 6, Male Shield Dust Tackle|String Shot Personality: Carries around a sharp rock and likes to scare other bugs with it. Pretty mean, has a soft spot for pretty butterfly Pokemon, and enjoys sports and flaunting how much better he is at them.

It had worked! She had defeated the Caterpie, and she’d won a victory! Surely that would make Merrick happy, right? Right!? She turned, a smile on her face, expecting her Trainer to be ecstatic about her victory, but instead he just stood there. He didn’t look happy, and she couldn't have felt weaker if he'd flat out said she had done a shit job; her battle... Had she not impressed him at all? Had she got her hopes up for nothing? Finally, after a moment, his head turned toward her, and he nodded approvingly. Her heart soared once more, even higher than before, and she snapped her jaws shut excitedly; she had impressed Merrick! “Taken down quickly,” he commented dryly, glancing on his shoulder to the Croagunk and Dratini. “This is what I expect you both to do at all time. Show no mercy, strike down your opponents without hesitation.” Croagunk cackled and nodded, and the Dratini flicked a forked tongue from his maw, tasting the air around him. “Those are your orders unless I tell you otherwise. Is that clear?”“Yes, Alpha,” something stepped out of the bushes. Graced with the darkest ebony fur, hellish ginger flame blazed on her chest, muzzle and underbelly. Short pointed ears swivelled around to listen to her surroundings, while her maw fell open slightly, her long fangs protruding from her gums. White bands sat on her ankles, and resting upon her head was what appeared to be a skull – armour, perhaps? The same bands rested on her back, and rippled as she moved. Her fiery, dark eyes landed on Merrick as she brushed her shoulder fur against his leg and sat down, breathing steadily against him. Merrick nodded and reached down, rubbing his hand along her broad jaw for a moment before he turned and walked off. The Houndour, sensing the movement in his muscles, stood up and began to walk with him, while he reached for Ray’s Pokéball and recalled her. She went in the ball without resisting and curled up to go to sleep within its depths. Hellfire – the Houndour – was the newest member of his team. She was never going to abandon him, even if he was hurt, because he was her alpha male – the pack leader, and she had been saved by him. She had sworn absolute loyalty to him, and she would crush anyone that dared to get in her way... Suddenly he paused, and looked back toward where the fainted Caterpie lay miserably in the dust. She could understand what he was getting at just as well as if he had spoken directly, and she opened her maw, sending a spray of embers to burn the Bug type’s body. Hell, if it couldn’t defend itself properly then it had no reason to live, right? It was a harsh world; those who couldn’t fight became the prey, and the hunters wouldn’t give it any sympathy. They left it to burn and then moved further along the path. The sun was out now, blessing the land in all of it’s glory, and Merrick walked along the river to pause at a beautiful waterfall. He glanced at Hellfire and nodded, and she returned the gesture before dropping into a stance and throwing back her head. A howl tore from her throat, loud and territorial. If there was anything some Pokémon hated more than being disturbed, it was people who were trespassing on their territory. What would happen now...? Note to Mods: Just mod it anyway. Idk where Rubix is but I can't keep waiting for him. I want to get on with training. ::poliwag:: MALE / LEVEL 6 ATTACKS: WATER SPORT & BUBBLES PERSONA: TERRITORIAL, DEFENSIVE Although the call came from the land, the water poke'mon considered it a trespass on his territory. The Poliwag didn't often leave the safety of the river very often but that wouldn't stop him from answering the Houndour's call. His round, dark head crested above the water, his eyes narrowing angrily over at the Houndour. And without any further warning he twisted himself around quickly, sending a water sport attack towards the Houndour and his trainer, aiming to soak them both. <"You're in my house pup!"> He said angrily, dipping back below the surface he dove towards the bottom and planted his feet. With a burst of energy he pushed off from the bottom and propelled himself up, breaking the surface of the water and then landed on the shore near the trainer.

After the howl had ended, a Poliwag leapt out from the sea, attempting to soak them both with water. The attack, of course, would only lower Houndour’s fire type attacks and that was something that they couldn’t have. The two leapt out of the way, but Houndour still got soaked – Houndour would not be the one in this battle. It would be another of his Pokémon... Ha, and Houndour, of course. Suddenly Merrick smirked, and nodded to Houndour that she should prepare to attack. Well, there was one thing he could do, that was for sure. “Kai, this is your fight now.” Kai – the Shadow Croagunk – hopped off of Merrick’s shoulders and croaked in amusement, and then made what sounded like a ‘keh’ sound in his throat. Looking over to the Poliwag, Merrick narrowed his eyes and murmured, “You’d better hope you have friends, little ‘pup’, because you’ll need them when we're through with you.”Kai’s dark aura flared and he screeched loudly, his face darkening before he sent off a blast of venomous darts spraying wildly across the battlefield. It didn’t appear that he cared if any passing Pokémon got struck by them – he was aiming for the Poliwag. Houndour watched the display and released a fierce growl from her maw, her eyes sharpening to produce a leer. As if to make sure it hit, her muzzle wrinkled, and her lips were drawn back in a snarl. Rather than howling again, she dashed forward, her dark claws unleashed upon the fray, and began attempting to bat the Poliwag around like prey. The move was after the Poison Sting, so if it did connect with the Poliwag, it would do quite a bit of damage since Croagunk was four levels higher. “I heard that fish is good for growing water repellent coat,” she taunted, and this only made the Croagunk snicker in amusement. Oh, that was cruel... Note to Mods: Just mod it anyway. Idk where Rubix is but I can't keep waiting for him. I want to get on with training. <Two against one, eh?> The Poliwag huffed as he endured both strikes with a pained look on his face. Ok this wasn't the worst thing he's ever went through, but this still kind of sucked. This was his land, with his friends. Hell to the no if these guys thought they could take it all over without him saying so. He let out a sharp cry, and soon a Wingull fluttered over, glaring at the two.
<Hot dog, do I need to punch a donkey's rear end?> She asked loudly, sending a snide look at the frog and dog, then back at her friend's wounds. They didn't look so good, as if he could've gotten poisoned somehow. He nodded an affirmative, glaring at the shadow Pokemon.
<Watch out for that one. He hits hard.> He advised, wagging his tail before starting his own attack. He sprayed a bubble at both of his foes, well, not that he could aim it just at the Houndour. Bubble didn't work that way. The Wingull decided to cover the dangerous one with a Supersonic, letting out an annoying cry.

Suddenly the Poliwag called out, and circling from the skies was a Wingull. Lifting his head, Merrick watched as the Water bird descended to stance beside her friend – the Poliwag. Oh well, this would simply be a longer battle; he could defeat these rats with no problem. However, being a Croagunk Pokémorph, he absolutely hated Flying Pokémon. He knew what he was going to do, and somehow his Croagunk also felt the same way. Suddenly he screeched, leaping out of the way of the Supersonic pulsed down where he had been standing a moment before. Houndour howled again as the bubble splashed at her face, slightly blinding her, and Croagunk hissed as the attack hit him. Rather than attacking, though, Hellfire simply stood in place, waiting for her Trainer’s orders. She didn’t want to move unless he told her what to do – he was her alpha, after all! Kai lifted his head and screeched. The Shadow Pokémon had stronger attack than normal, so he was sure to do some damage. Merrick, however, gritted his teeth and swung his hand around to point at the Wingull. He didn’t care if it was friendly or not, it was going down. “Focus your attacks on that Wingull!” He commanded sharply. After this attack, he would go off and see if anything interesting was happening around the forest. But first, he needed to take out this Wingull and it’s friend. “Kai, you know what to do! Hellfire, Howl and then slash it with your claws.” Rearing up, Hellfire let out a loud wolfish howl while Kai laughed at the Wingull. “What’s that going to do?” He tormented the Flying type harshly, cackling as he spoke. “Come on - show me what you can do! Stop with those petty attacks and let me see how you can fight!” As he tormented the Wingull, Hellfire sneaked up from behind and attempted to drag the bird down to use attack her with her claws and teeth. It was a move sort of like Close Combat, but it was more designed to do damage based on HP. The torment was annoying and the Poliwag was unharmed, leaving her to take an ineffective Reversal from the angry pooch. She hissed in annoyance as she flew higher into the air at the challenge they gave her, clearly under the Croagunk's influence as she fired a Water Gun right at the fire type.
<That's how we do it in these parts!> The Poliwag added, not backing down to these arrogant idiots. He spit fired another wave of bubbles at both of his foes, determined to do damage this time around. It had good coverage in double battles, plus his ally wasn't in the way this time around.
That was how the pros battles, wasn't it? He smirked after unleashing his bubble onslaught. They wouldn't last so long now, would they? He nearly jumped as the Wingull let out another enraged cry. Yikes. Anger issues much?

Crouching low to the earth, she perched herself, weight spread evenly throughout her body as she balanced. Rocking back and forth slowly on her haunches, her belly pressed against the cold, hard floor. Curved talons scored marks on the silver tiles, muscles vexed. Pure ebony fur graced her shoulders, bristling wildly, in a powerful contrast against the Hell-born flame that covered her snout and underbelly. A sharp set of canine teeth protruded from beneath her pale lips like stars that dappled a moonless night; slowly, those lips peeled back, and her ivory teeth were revealed in all of their glory. That perfectly set muzzle suddenly vexed, the ginger fur there rippling brightly as her maw parted slightly, her gums pushing forward in a snarl, her face wrinkling with aggression. Dipping down to the earth, her rump lifted slightly, her shoulders hunched behind her powerful jaws. Once more, she flexed her paws, spreading out her toes as she prepared to pounce. Beneath her, the floor screeched as her claws scraped over it. The noise did not seem to bother the femme; she simply flattened her ears back and pushed off toward her foe with her hind paws. Soaring through the air, it felt as though she had wings, and she released a howl from her throat as she crossed the distance between her and her enemy in that one bound. Her wolfish tune echoed through the forest, as if she had pack mates around her, cheering her on. This alone gave her energy, and she felt more determined to land a harder attack, but it wasn’t a ‘Howl’. Adrenaline surging through her body lent strength to her front paws and she opened her maw wide, rolling out of the way of the Water Gun. Sure, hell, the Bubble hurt, but she couldn’t stop moving now. Her Alpha had ordered her to attack, and she had to obey. Fire accumulated in her maw and she spat a ball of flame out toward the Wingull. Beside her, blocking the Bubble with his hands – but not dodging it, mind you – to reduce the damage taken by it a little bit. However, rather than damage him, the bubble seemed to restore his strength! Hissing at the Gull Pokémon, he swung his arms out to his sides and let his aura flare venomously before he charged, jumping up higher than the Houndour before he spat out another vast array of poisonous darts. His sleek purple-hued skin seemed to shine beneath his body; the once dry skin was becoming moisturised by the Bubble attack! Oh, that was nice of the Wingull; he’d have to repay it somehow! Well, maybe being poisoned would help...? The boosted Poison Sting didn't help the Wingull's case at all, but she was resilient enough to completely ignore the Embers that were brushed in her face. She used her wing to brush them away, just feeling a twinge of pain in the process. Having dealt with harsher attacks, she felt numb to it. <Idiot.> She told the Houndour, making sure it got the message in her tormented fury.
She wanted to use another Water Gun, especially with the way the fire type had dodged her last one, but something compelled her to use Supersonic again. She cried out another one at the frog that was making this battle hell for her and her friend, while the Poliwag watched in amusement. Normally the Wingull wasn't this mean, but he was pretty darn glad she was on his side.
<Bubbles for the enemy!> He cried, not realizing that the Croagunk was immune to the move. He sprayed more bubbles at both of his foes, determined to make as much of an effort to defend his territory as the Wingull.

Distracted, Kai took the Bubble attack and smirked again – this was just increasing his HP. Was this the only attacking more that the Poliwag could use? He was about to attack when the Wingull sent a strange sound to his ears, and he blinked, wondering why the hell the world was suddenly doubling- no, tripling? What the hell? His thoughts became jumbled and he lurched drunkenly, stumbling over toward Kai before grabbing on to her back.“What are you doing?” Kai asked, though she didn’t shove the frog away. Kai was way too steady on his feet to just start acting like this; perhaps the Wingull had done something to him? Her maw was open and she was distracted, so she didn’t see the Bubble until it was too late. Merrick watched the attack hit, and watched Kai as he seemed to wobble uneasily on his feet. Supersonic was a move that confused its opponent. He didn’t really give a shit though – Kai would get over it soon enough.“Kai,” he called, “Sit on Hellfire’s back and let her be your eyes.” Hellfire didn’t exactly like the thought of being treated like a horse, but her alpha had commanded it. Whatever she thought, she had to obey him. She crouched down and let the Croagunk awkwardly perch himself on her back. Moments later, the Wolf had a rider, and they stood as one team, united against the two water types.“Swords Dance and Poison Sting again on the Wingull,” Merrick called out. “And Hellfire, you use Leer and Reversal, same target.” He knew with all the water flying around, she’d be weakening quite soon, so he needed to figure out how to make this battle end quickly. Sure, he’d initiated it, but still. Angrily, the Houndour leered at the Wingull as her friend boosted his attack stat as high as it would possibly go. Rushing forward against the Wingull, she jumped and ducked her head as the Croagunk fired an even stronger array of venomous darts at the Wingull.
When the attack was through, she reached out with her claws in an attempt to attack the Sea Bird, as her Trainer had instructed. It was clear that they did not like the Flying Type, but for what reason, she was unsure. Perhaps it had something to do with their types, but now was not the appropriate time to argue. Instead, the Wolf jumped back after her attack, waiting to see what happened. She had a feeling from the Croagunk’s strange twitches that there was a chance he would not attack next round...

If the drunken Croagunk thought he'd be able to hit her with his aim, he had to think again. She ducked out of the way of the poisonous stingers, leaving her vulnerable to the Reversal. It seemed to be gaining some power, but ultimately it didn't hurt her so bad. None of the Houndour's attacks were hurting her, but that frog was the one that she had to be worried about. That last attack looked strong, and she didn't think she would be able to take many of them.
<Hey, I think those bubbles are healing him.> She commented to the Poliwag, backing off to watch him in his confused state. The Poliwag blinked and stared as he looked completely healed. Well that was a bother. <Sorry! I can't make bubble hit one Pokemon.> He cried, feeling a bit bad, but they had to deal with it. Not everyone was perfect, after all. But they could at least kick this fire type's behind.
The Wingull let out another strong blast of water at the fire hound, knowing it hurt just because of how she reacted to Poliwag's previous bubble attacks. To add to the pain, her friend used another bubble on the pair. Things were looking good.

He was seeing double. There was no way to tell where the opponent was, other than to try and figure out where the opponent was. As Houndour tried to jump out of the way of the Water Gun, Kai lost his grip on her scruff and fell, hitting the ground in his confusion. Oh wait, what? He blinked, trying to figure out where everything was, but at the moment he couldn’t really tell where anything was. Bubbles ran down his face and moisturised his skin, and he blinked the water out of his eyes. Wait, what? Where was Hellfire? He could hear her running around near him, but he couldn’t get a visual...
Hellfire, in the meantime, had been struck by both moves, and crashed onto the floor with a yelp. Something in her back seemed to click and she growled, lying on her belly with her front legs splayed out in front of her, trying to push herself back up. She stumbled for a moment, panting from the effort it was taking to get up. Damn, her back... It felt so tight! She couldn’t manage a physical attack this turn – the pain was excruciating! Her lips peeled back and she snarled, flexing her claws into the earth as she glared at the Wingull. She couldn’t take much more – she knew this. But at the moment, she couldn’t walk. What would she do?
Seeing Hellfire down and Kai unable to attack made Merrick agitated, but he knew that there was nothing really he could do but wait it out. This was the second turn of Kai’s confusion – he would snap out of it soon enough, wouldn’t he? Well, if not, Merrick did have a Full Restore he could use – it would be a waste though. Croagunk hadn’t taken any damage, and in fact his health had been improving due to the constant water type attacks. They were weakened because of the sunlight, and the Ember should be boosted a little bit – so would the Water Sport still have any effect? He wasn’t sure, but he needed to get it over with quickly. He was getting bored.

The pair watched as the amphibious Pokémon hurt himself, and the Poliwag held back a snicker. Things were going very well, now if only he could direct that bubble attack away from the frog... There was no way to do that though, so he simply gave up on trying; sending out another frothing wave of bubbles at both the houndour and croagunk. Meanwhile, the bird glared at him for doing that - knowing it was an unavoidable side-effect, but it still got on his nerves. When he returned his attention to fighting, he got a nice eyeful of a very intense leer from the dog; he felt himself crawl with goosebumps from the attack, while his defense lowered due to the unnerving quality of the look. He swooped closer, separating from the Poliwag, and cawed down at the houndour with supersonic - taunting him with that shrill sound as he coasted upon the air currents, circling him like a vulture.

It was the third turn of confusion for Kai, and he’d already fallen off of Hellfire’s back trying to attack the annoying Wingull. Unable to walk properly at this point, he perched himself a short distance away from the battle – about the length of two logs. The grass tickled his feet slightly and he turned slightly, but almost fell over in the process. Hellfire, who’d been standing a few meters away from Kai, trotted over and crouched down in front of him. He saw her just fine, albeit a bit blurred, and her other two… Clones…? Unsure, he blinked and tilted his head, trying to make sense of what was going on around him, but his thoughts were still scrambled.
“Hellfire, snap him out of it.” Merrick commanded sharply. He didn’t really care about the fact that his Croagunk was confused – well, in a perplexed sort of way, he did – but the battle wasn’t going to end quickly with him in this state. Nor would that Wingull fall anytime soon, and after a few Poison type attacks, it was a wonder why the creature wasn’t crawling on the ground, writhing in agony with poison coursing through its veins. The Houndour opened her maw, taking Kai’s arm in her teeth before she spun him around and shook him. After a few moments, the Croagunk hissed out and kicked off of a tree with his foot. His mind felt clearer; had it worked?
“Keh!” He spat, crouching down beside Hellfire. He wasn’t shaking now; in fact, he walked a few steps forward and dropped into a stance. “That’s better,” he nodded to Hellfire in thanks. He would take that Wingull out and make sure that it was unable to use Supersonic on his friend. For a moment, he wondered how they would attack. Would he be able to just jump forward and attempt it again? The Wingull was quite high up in the air, but with his legs, he should get there no problem if he was going in for a fist fight. He glanced at Hellfire and saw a flash of pain in her eyes; the Houndour’s hind left paw was lifted slightly, as if she’d injured it in the battle.
Normally he wouldn’t care, but this was Hellfire, and she’d just helped him. She was his ally, and his friend, so he couldn’t just leave her there, could he? Well he rarely played fair, so he told himself that if he left the Houndour to her own devices, he’d be putting himself at risk. He hopped over and gently lifted up her paw, testing the limb. There wasn’t anything wrong with it there, so instead he looked at her back – and of course, the muscles around her belly there were tightened. It was something to do with her back that was causing the problem. Perhaps she had landed awkwardly, or she wasn’t used to carrying things on her back…
Croagunk were known for their ability to heal back problems with the use of their poison. Pushing Hellfire down, he blocked and incoming attacks and retaliated with a Poison Sting before the tips of his fingers began to glow a venomous mauve hue. It wasn’t enough to use Poison Jab, unfortunately, but he’d learn that one day. His hand pushed down against Hellfire’s spine and the energy from his attack flowed over and into the Wolf’s side before it attacked her muscles. For a moment she just laid there, her eyes closed as the poison surged through her veins, and then he used his senses to locate and to suck it back out, leaving her recovering from the healing attempt.
As if knowing what Kai was about to say, Merrick stepped forward and picked up the Fire type, holding her against his body. Until she woke up and started moving around, Kai would have to deal with these two on his own. She gently breathed in his arms, comforted by the warmth of his body, and listened to the sound of his steady heartbeat as it pulsed in her ears. Never had he done this before; was he growing closer to them? Was he finally learning to trust after all he’d been through in the past? As she drifted through the realms of consciousness and unconsciousness, she wondered what it was that he had been through; what he’d been hiding from her.
Slowly tilting her head into his hold, she felt one pale skinned, slender hand brush against her bright flame-coloured cheek. Well now she knew that she could never leave her alpha. He knew she didn’t like being kept in confined spaces, and he respected that and let her roam, as if he didn’t even care where she went so long as she returned to him afterwards. It seemed as though he didn’t trust humans as much as he did with her. In a sense, it was heart-warming to know that she had an alpha like that. For a moment, she swore she’d caught a glance from Kai, but she was more focused on herself. Her body felt strange, her mind distant – was it the effect of the poison?
But then she caught another look from Kai – this time, he realised he’d been seen and he turned away. Was he concerned that she was still in pain, or was he just making sure that she was alright? Well she had Merrick holding her, making sure that her back was comfortable so it could get as rested as possible, so why would he need to worry? Being distracted by caring for the fire wolf, Merrick did not notice if the Croagunk had attacked any further from the two. But was it fair – one against two? Well they couldn’t really do anything now that Hellfire was out of the battle. She was the only actual target, and water moves didn’t hurt Kai.
She closed her eyes and smiled to herself as the frog screeched, feeling pride slowly tame her. Knowing with all of her heart that he could do it – she had no doubt. If there was anyone she knew that was capable of taking on impossible odds, it was sure as hell Kai. Mockingly, the Poison type laughed and pointed toward the Flying Type, and she heard the Croagunk taunt the Gull, and her hopes lifted. Hell, he could do anything, the rascal!
“Come on, hit me! Is that all you got?! You disgrace of a bird Pokemon - come on, hit me!” He roared at the Flying gull. The move he was using was Taunt – an attack that would attempt to force the opponent into using only physical moves. Seeing as the two only had Water based attacks – and he had the Dry Skin Ability, there was no chance in hell that they’d be able to take him down! But he remembered that Merrick wanted that Wingull out first, so that’s who he would focus on. Not only was it generally just an irritant, if it hit him with that Supersonic attack again, it would just get annoying. Silently the Croagunk sneered and waved his hand in the air, as if to say, ‘Whatcha gonna do about it?’.
But one thing still confused him; why the hell was he mentally thinking about Hellfire? She was alright, she was safe and out of the battle for the time being. He’d helped her as she’d helped him, right? An eye for an eye… But still, he felt strange. He could feel the poison running through his body that he’d helped the Houndour with, but for some reason it seemed more delectable – more charming and appealing to him than before. As if roses had filled his maw – even though he didn’t like the taste of sweet things, this seemed… Different; almost interesting. He didn’t understand this feeling, but he decided to ignore it and just go along with the battle for now.

Water Sport is in Effect Weather turned Cloudy ooc note: When Croagunk hurt himself in confusion, all of that attack power applies as well~
With the Houndour down, both of the water types felt somewhat victorious as they let out joyful cries. <We took your little pup down, punks!> The Poliwag hollered, while the Wingull flapped her wings in agreement. It seemed as if her Torment had worn off just as quickly as the Croagunk lost the Torment attack and regained the taunt move. She felt somewhat enraged as she was called out, and without thinking she shot out a Water Gun.
At the same time, right as she finished her move she was painfully shot to the ground by a vicious Poison Sting attack. She was not going to last too much longer now, but she carefully pushed herself back up, panting the entire time from exhaustion.
The Poliwag didn't seem sure what to do, especially when his water attack was only healing the Croagunk. Yeah, that seemed stupid. He moved around the battle between bird and frog to aim his own array of bubbles at both trainer and Houndour. That ought to scare them out of his territory! <You get out of my territory, brats!> Bits of clouds started to cover up the strongly shining sun, resulting in a sky of light blue and gray.

First the territorial Water type had injured Hellfire, and now the stupid thing had the audacity to send his attacks at the Trainer. It wasn’t fair really – Morph’s weren’t allowed to fight against them, but they could be attacked. Well, the Admins can’t complain if he defended himself and Hellfire. The Fire type lay on her side, her eyes drifting closed, oblivious to the incoming attack. If she were awake, she’d force herself up to slay that amphibian where it stood, but unfortunately, that was not the case. She was barely conscious – but not because of the bubbles. Because of the leftover poison that Kai had left there to make sure her body relaxed properly.
It was an understatement to say that Merrick and Kai were now enraged. They’d passed that stage in a second; they were at the peak of fury, and Merrick was feeling very, very murderous now. That little water rat had dared to send its attack at him and his companion rather than at Kai. The Poison Dart Frog screeched a warning before he jumped in front of one of the attacks, shielding the injured wolf with his own body. All the damage he’d taken from the confusion was now gone, and he was feeling powerful. His attack couldn’t get much higher. But a second stream of the attack surged past him – one that unfortunately he couldn’t stop in time. It was going to hit Merrick.
It was a weak attack, but the bubbles burst like rubber bands whipping at his arms. Merrick hissed, his icy irises screaming bloody murder at the ocean dweller, and suddenly something inside of him snapped. Kai could sense what was coming, and he glanced over at his Trainer and then giggled at the opponent. However, rather than leaving as the Water type probably hoped, he grabbed the machete from his belt and held it just above Hellfire’s body, the hilt resting gently under his thumb with the silver blade flashing toward the Poliwag. Oh… This was going to end badly. The attack upon Merrick’s person had also attracted the attention of the Dratini, who suddenly slithered off of his Trainer’s shoulders and roared loudly. A small streak of electricity shot toward the Poliwag and Blake turned for a moment toward Merrick.
“Are you alright?” He asked, his deep eyes scanning over his Trainer. Though there did not appear to be any surface damage, he couldn’t be sure. Well, he doubted that Merrick would be injured from that weak attack – it was just a few bubbles. What harm could that do? Merrick looked toward Blake and simply nodded, and inclined his head toward where the Poliwag stood. It was a silent instruction to attack. It seemed as though spectres from his past were resurfacing to haunt him, and his jaw clenched. No, he didn’t want to be thinking about this right now; he had more important stuff to be doing. Like gutting this fish for a start; nothing attacked him and lived to tell about it.
“Destroy him,” Merrick’s voice was quiet, but simply because he did not wish to raise it. Below him, Hellfire was resting, and she had fought well. Against two water types, deep down he knew that she wouldn’t have really been able to defeat the Water types. At least not without help, and right now, she was weak. With any other Pokémon, he would have tossed it away, but he’d not only paid for Hellfire, she’d also shown him a lot of obedience and interest in battling. She didn’t move unless he ordered her to, and that was something that Merrick liked greatly. The fact that she’d take a hit if she had to, to receive her orders.
“Kai, I’ll protect Merrick.” Blake turned his head and then looked at his opponent. Still strong, it seemed. That wouldn’t do at all. “If they make a move to hurt him again, I’ll step in. This battle belongs to you.” The Dragon didn’t wait to see if the Thunder Wave had connected. Maliciously, that Poliwag had attacked his trainer and that wouldn’t do at all – he had to deal with this threat. Honourably, he would make this creature his enmity, and he would strike it down as his orders were. Coiling up beside Merrick and the wounded Houndour, Blake flicked a forked tongue out and then waited until Kai attacked again. The Poison type fired another array of darts at the Flying Gull before hopping back to make sure their next attack was not against Hellfire.
“For your information,” Kai corrected the amphibian, his tone nothing but snarky, “Merrick recalled Hellfire – you haven’t knocked her out yet. Now shut your maw!” Speaking of which, that was right – Merrick needed to heal the wolf of her injuries. He took out a potion from his bag and sprayed her body with the healing liquid, which would aim to soothe her and numb the pain. “Blake, I think Merrick’s getting a little bit impatient to use that blade of his, if you catch what I mean.”

The Poliwag angrily slapped his tail against the ground, and the Wingull shared his partner's frustration. The two buddies weren't in a bad situation, but neither could do damage to the Croagunk with his darn ability. Poliwag stepped foreword, wondering if perhaps now would be a good chance to ask them to GTFO from his home and stop disturbing them. The Wingull circled above Poliwag, her eyes were locked onto the trainer and the Houndour; she didn't expect them to play very fair, in fact she would be more surprised if they actually gave up the fight and moved on. No one over there looked particularly nice. Shame, a dark human like that corrupting poke'mon. She growled towards the Croagunk, making herself as menacing as she could, daring them to not take her friend seriously.
Poliwag stood as tall as he could while he spoke. His voice was strong and full of pride. "I'll give you the chance now to leave, no hard feelings. Or else, if you desire to continue, I'll be forced to bring in more wild poke'mon. I will not play fair while defending my home from the likes of you!" If the worse happened, and he wanted to go on fighting, maybe they could just stall until the Croagunk knocked himself out from confusion. He was certain they wouldn't have much problem with Houndour if she came back into the fray. Pesky fire type.

Of course, the reasoning between the Poliwag and Merrick was bound to go nowhere. When Hellfire had howled, she’d claimed this land for herself, and he was looking for a battle. He wasn’t intending to just give up and leave now. He’d run away from things too many times as a child, and he’d be damned if he allowed himself to be defeated here, by a group of Pokémon like this. Hellfire was slowly recovering with the effects of the potion, but she couldn’t hear anything going on around her. She was unconscious, locked in a slow going dream that probably had the same effect of if something had used Hypnosis.
Narrowing his icy eyes, Merrick stroked his hand down her flank and stood up, carefully stepping over her to stand beside Blake. The Dragon Type looked up at him and coiled around himself. Whatever his Trainer was up to, he needed to be ready if that Poliwag decided to invite more of his friends. To be fair on him, Merrick had suggested that the Tadpole bring some friends before it got nasty. It seemed as though it was getting nasty right this second. Blake wasn’t afraid of getting involved, but at the same time, he realised that the Poliwag seemed to be prideful. Unfortunately, Merrick had also noticed this trait.
“You stand as if you are proud of yourself.” Merrick commented dryly, his head tilting to the side slightly, as if he were examining the Water type. Well, he didn’t need such a useless creature; he already had a Poliwag, and one that was stronger than that one. He had one that could probably take it down with ease if she needed to, and who was probably more territorial than this wild newcomer. He wasn’t afraid that the Poliwag might call in friends. There was the chance that Merrick could find something that interested him. “But you hide behind your friends. Where is your ‘pride’ now?”
Kai turned, wondering what trickery his Trainer was up to, and completely ignored the Growl that came his way. Under the Taunt, it didn’t really bother him that much, because he could always use Swords Dance to raise that attack again. Well, he needed to get this battle over with. Maybe if he took out the Poliwag, then they could end this before it got too ugly. He wasn’t that interested in winning this ‘territory’. They weren’t going to stay long. “Nobody with pride would hide behind his comrades,” Kai chimed in with a humoured croak. He grinned at the Poliwag at his ‘threat’ and prepared himself for another attack.
“I’ll tell you what. I’ll make you both a deal.” Merrick turned his attention back toward the Poliwag that had made the offer. He had a Pokémon that needed training. Perhaps they could come to an arrangement - A deal, maybe? Though Merrick wasn’t known to make deals, these Pokémon didn’t know that he rarely kept them. Usually he got what he wanted and walked away, but only when something mattered to him would he keep it. “One of my team mates wants to get stronger. If Poliwag can defeat him in battle - alone - then I’ll leave.” There were so many things wrong with that offer that you couldn’t even begin to describe...
Merrick offered Poliwag a deal: If Poliwag can defeat "one of his Pokemon that want to become stronger" then he will leave. If not, Poliwag must surrender.
