Reeve strayed through Route 1, hands in his pockets. It was nice weather for this time of year. The sun beat down with comfortable heat, catching the leaves and creating dancing flecks of dark green on the grass. The trees waved about like puppets on strings, swaying to and fro in the warm breeze. Reeve was enjoying it, he would even go as far to say that he-
"Sluuuuuuuug-..."
Reeve turned around. Lucian was some few feet behind him, moving at his ever so slow pace. This was the trainer's dilemma, keep the Slugma in his Pokeball for all eternity, or let him out and reduce travelling speed by 400%. The blue-haired boy rolled his eyes.
"Swinub, Swi-!" The Swinub bounced past the Slugma, as if taunting him with his far superior speed. The brown furred Pokemon jumped up and down, clearly hyperactive and overjoyed to be in this new region. So many new things to see, places to go. He hoped there would be lots of eating involved too.
"Calm down, Fove'..." Reeve said to Foveon, who still bounced about like a three-year old. The teen sat down on the grass, swinging his rucksack over his shoulder and placing it between his legs. The Swinub sat opposite, eagerly awaiting food.
The boy browsed the contents of his bag, pulling out a few Combee-Honey Sandwiches. He gave one to the famished Swinub, and ate one himself, chewing on the sticky bread. He had to say, it was nice to be enjoying the outdoors for once, as apposed to being stuck in his office back in Goldenrod, printing off photographs all day.
"Hurry up Lucian, else there'll be no food left!" The teenager called to the Slugma, who was still a hundred meters or so down the road. It grunted something inaudible, but Reeve knew it would be the same noise the Slugma had always made for as long as Reeve had known him - Which was about five minutes.
Nothing could spoil this outing.

A Pidgey was happily singing in the early day air, enjoying the crisp feeling it provided until the afternoon sun would later hit. Other Pokemon were acting merry, there were humans simply dining comfortably on the ground, and it was just so peaceful. He was in bliss, flying around just like mother taught him. It wasn't too long ago when he was kicked out of the nest, but he still had things to learn from his parents.
Landing on the ground, he thought it would be ok to visit a few of his friends. He was still practicing his whistling, walking around on his merry way past the trainer without incident. He waddled into the bushes, but then the oddest thing happened. There was a plastic bag around his neck! And it was harder to breathe! <Give me the berries! You promised me berries!> A mean voice whispered into his ear, and he started to squirm around in a panic.
<Help! Get off of me! Help!> He cried, not realizing that he was using up more of the air in the plastic bag. The Kricketot that was using it as a weapon looked panicked as well, but managed to keep the Pidgey down. After all, he was learning from his fellow gang members. This was part of the initiation though.

The blue-haired boy munched on his sandwich, staring at the clear blue sky. It was so picturesque. The only thing that seemed to annoy the boy was the Slugma that was still half a mile down the road - Or so it seemed at his pace. Nonetheless, he and Foveon seemed to be having a good time. The Swinub in particular was enjoying his sandwich.
A Pidgey landed on the path in front of the Trainer and his Pokemon. It chirped merrily as it waltzed carelessly past them, heading off into the bushes somewhere. Cute.
That was, until the red demon insect jumped out of the undergrowth, throwing a bag over the head of the bird-Pokemon. It started yelling and shaking the bag demanding. The Pidgey seemed in distress. The Kricketot needed to be stopped before the Pidgey ran out of air.
"SLUGMA, GO!" Reeve yelled dramatically, pointing a finger in the direction of the crisis. The trainer was ready for battle, he stood up, dropping the sandwich (To the delight of the Swinub) and facing his foe - The bright red Kricketot.
And yet nothing happened. "Slugma... GO!" He repeated, with noticeably less enthusiasm, his finger still pointing. He span his head around to see the Slugma was still a long, long way away. Cue anime-style sweatdrop.
"Alright... Fine... We'll go to Plan B..." The teen put a hand to his face, rubbing his eyes and sighing. Still, a backup plan was better than no plan. Right?

The Trainer grinned with satisfaction as Foveon collided into the Kricketot, breaking up the mugging. The Kricketot then began to complain, protesting to the Swinub in Pokespeak. Reeve understood none of it, and blinked in confusion. He gave a mental shrug, guessing that the Swinub would understand what the Pokemon was saying and react accordingly.
The sternum of the insect tightened, becoming solid with tension. The Kricketot taunted Foveon, daring him to attack. The Swinub was, as usual, rather scared. Why did the bug want to be attacked? He stood, contemplating what to do. The pig shot a glance at his Trainer, who gave a nod in return.
"<Ask, and you shall receive!>" The Swinub said, taking a hop backwards and hurtling its full body weight at the Kricketot, in another attempt to tackle it to the ground.
The Pidgey cowered behind Reeve, the trainer grinned at this and bent down, reassuring the bird Pokemon with a warm smile and a pat on the head.
Lucian, the ever-so-slow Slugma was still a good hundred meters or so from the scene. He was missing a lot, but he wasn't really in a rush to get anywhere.

[OOC:] First off. I have to say I love the template and although your summary isn't the same as how others do it. I do like it a lot [BIC:] The Kricketot was struck again with a tackle and sent back a bit more. Although the attacks did not do much against his hard skin. It seemed his enemy was a bit weaker than he had originally anticipated. Perfect! He bided his time once more and gave himself even more time before he unleashed all of his power at once. >Come on! Once more! Just hit me you coward!< He said again. He was just hoping that the Swinub would be dumb enough to fall for it and suffer his wrath. The Pidgey on the other hand began to feel very comfortable and assured in the trainer's hands and he quickly started to nuzzle around it. >Awe!< ::Kricketot:: Level 4, Male Shed Skin Growl|Bide Personality: Sensitive, needs to feel tough, dramatic hit with tackle used bide (2/3)

Reeve tried to conceal his joy. A second attack had hit. Hopefully all it would take to finish this thing would be a few more hits. The Trainer continued stroking the head of the Pidgey, narrowing his eyes in the direction of the fray. "Again!!" Shouted the blue-haired boy.
Foveon picked himself up, turning to face the Kricketot, who still had not made an attempt to attack him. Instead, he stood tensing, which confused the brown swine Pokemon. The Swinub didn't really care, he had to focus himself to try and hit a third tackle. Maybe, if he tried hard enough, he could finish this thing. He really doubted it, the thing was much stronger than he was, and it looked like it was planning something particularly nasty.
The Swinub narrowed his eyes, scanning the bug Pokemon up and down. The way he was tensing his abdomen, the way he had been taking the attacks instead of dodging. It all seemed to good to be true. He looked deeper, trying his best to identify the foe. Success. The Kricketot was biding, about to unleash the damage done back onto Foveon!
It was a trap! The Swinub did not make a move, instead, he stood just as still as the Kricketot was. This only confused the Pokemon Trainer, who had instructed Foveon to attack again.
The Slugma was still a long way off. About fifty meters or so. Still, the lava-slug took his time, chewing on some grass lazily.

The kricketot was quite upset at the fact that the Swinub hadn't fallen for his next attack, and instead had just opted out of using a Physical move and use something that made him feel like his space was being invaded and junk. The bug Pokemon now had to unleash all the pain and fury he had been inflicted with in the past three turns, his body glowing and rushing at the ice type Pokemon. The Pidgey just sat there comfortably, feeling safe and sound in the guys arms. He felt like he could stay there forever and ever. Maybe he could? Reeve tried to conceal his joy. A second attack had hit. Hopefully all it would take to finish this thing would be a few more hits. The Trainer continued stroking the head of the Pidgey, narrowing his eyes in the direction of the fray. "Again!!" Shouted the blue-haired boy.
The time for sitting and doing nothing appeared to be over. The Kricketot upped and charged at Foveon, Sparta style. The Swinub was, as always, terrified. But he stood his ground, shakily. He didn't want the bug Pokemon to think he was afraid. No, he was ready for the move.
He instincively dived out of the way. However, being the heavy lump of fur he was, he wasn't quick enough. As he tried his best to move out of the way, the charging Kricketot hit him in the side, sending him flying some distance to the right. He groaned. "Swinub, Swi-...." He complained, getting to his feet and walking back over to the Kricketot.
"Adda Boy! Hit him again!" Said the Trainer encouragingly. This was Foveon's first battle, and by god he wasn't going to let his Trainer down.
The pig Pokemon stamped his foot and dragged it across the dirt. Steam brewed from his snout. He looked like one of those charging Tauros in a matador arena. He reared back and charged at full speed, flying through the air in an attempt to tackle the Kricketot with all his might and energy.

The Swinub's move hit, but the resilient insect was still standing. Damn this thing was strong. Foveon grunted, feeling in a bad state. He looked down at himself, realizing he was breathing heavier than usual. His body ached from the repetitive contact with the Kricketot, and that Bide attack had really finished him off.
The Trainer continued stroking the head of the Pidgey, looking on with worry. Foveon looked bad, really bad. Close to fainting, he would say. He swung his bag over one shoulder and emptied the contents, searching around until he found what he was looking for.
"Gotcha!"
Reeve grabbed the white and purple container, rushing over and spraying it on the Swinub. After a few seconds, the Pokemon was up and back to his lively self.
The trainer grinned, returning to the Pidgey, who seemed rather attached to him. He had to say, he liked the Pidgey too. He picked up a Pokeball from his rucksack and bent down to the bird's level, holding up the ball.

Unluckily for Reeve, the Kricketot finished his bide and instantly released the first tackle all over again at the Swinub after it had been healed. It probably wouldn't faint from the attack but it sure would suffer a major blow from it. The Kricketot needed this more than ever, he needed to win as he felt inferior when they just took away a sure "punching bag" away from him. He needed this more than ever. >Just stay down you jerk! Darnit! Just stay down!< He said as he really hoped that this would be enough to take down the Swinub. It just had to be... He needed it to be. On the other hand, the Pidgey quickly heard the trainer's answer and gladly tapped her head onto the pokeball and accepted the capture. The pokeball made no resistance at all as she was happy to be with a caring and awesome trainer. Congrats! The Kricketot charged a second time, the Swinub was caught unexpected once more, the crash hurtling him backwards onto his back. He groaned, very weak once more. His tiny legs twitched in the air, before Foveon rolled over and reluctantly turned to face his adversary.
The trainer smiled, clipping the Pokeball to his belt. He was glad to have another Pokemon along for the ride. Right now, he needed to focus on the battle. The effects of the Potion had pretty much been negated, as the Swinub had been hit by another attack. Still, at least he hadn't fainted, even if he was close to it.
There was a good chance that the Kricketot would try to Bide again. They needed to take it out before it could lash out at Foveon. Judging by the past few times it had used the strategic counterattack, it took two attacks or so before it lashed out. Perhaps they could finish it before it finished Biding? If that failed, he could always use the newly caught Pidgey.
Lucian, the ever-so-slow Slugma finally caught up, stopping by the side of his trainer as if everything was normal. "Well, you took your time..." Reeve huffed, folding his arms. "Slugggma..." Protested Lucian in the same droning voice,
Foveon upped and charged once more, little energy left, this attack wouldn't be as strong as previous ones. In all fairness, the bug was destroying him. He really didn't stand a chance. Maybe it was time to step down, take the final blow? Was that the right attitude to take?
"Come on Foveon!!" Encouraged Reeve.
No, that wasn't the right attitude to take. The Swinub ran as fast as he could, throwing himself once more in an attempt to tackle the Kricketot again.

The Kricketot was struck with another bide and started to get a bit weaker now. But unlike before when he was biding, he had a new strategy now. He quickly began to growl loudly at his opponent in hopes of weakening the Swinub's attack some more as he tried to hold off in the battle until he would finally win. He needed this victory, and hoped that weakening the Swinub would be enough to secure it for him. The problem was, weakening the attack of the Swinub would in turn also make his bide weaker once he chose to use it again... That wasn't too smart on his part. But he needed to change up strategies before he fainted. >Come on! Hit me! Hit me!< He yelled again after growling at the Swinub. He was getting into this very much now. >I won't die. I am king! The Kricketot started growling in an attempt to intimidate the pig-Pokemon. It worked, for Swinub backtracked slightly, the big Pokemon suddenly seemed much more fierce and strong than before. Was there any way he could take this thing down? Apparently not.
It taunted him, almost bragging it's superior strength. It was King, he was nothing. That was what the insect was trying to say. It was almost saying 'Give up'.
The Swinub narrowed his eyes, seeing though the empty taunts and lies. He identified the Kricketot, seeing that he wasn't King of anything. He was just an ordinary, cocky Kricketot that needed to be taken down a peg or two.
"Now, Foveon! Use Tackle!" Reeve called, extending his arm dramatically to point at the adversary. The Swinub did so, charging once more at the Bug Pokemon, leaping towards the foe and trying to tackle him to the ground.

The Kricketot was lucky, the tackle hurt so much less this time around thanks to the growl that was used against the Swinub. But the bad thing was that the growl didn't heal the previous wounds, so even though the damage was less, it still added to the other damages and thus made the Kricketot weaker than before. But he was still not in a position to give up. He was king of the jungle and he was going to show the Swinub just how much of a king he was right now. Biding his energy once more, he got himself ready for one more attack at the Swinub if given the opportunity. He was simply ready to take down this foe once and for all, and show him and everyone else that he is a force to be reckoned with. The Kricketot began to tense his muscles, entering a state of focus. He was biding once more. This whole process was becoming rather repetitive. Still, it was the only attacks that either of the Pokemon knew.
Foveon had two options here: Don't attack, and let the bide be much weaker. Or, attack and hope that the Kricketot would go down before it had time to unleash all the damage dealt to it. The Swinub wasn't in the mood for waiting around. He wanted this felt proclaimed King of the Jungle to be taken out. Now!
He upped and stamped his fur-covered feet, snorting steam from his nose. He reared up and charged at the adversary for what felt the the billionth time. Foveon was getting tired. His attacks were weaker and his energy was low. But he wasn't giving up. He ran at the insect in an attempt to tackle him to the ground.
Reeve looked on with growing concern. He knew the two options available, and while he agreed that attacking was the best option to take, he felt that this Pokemon was just too strong. He contemplated trying to capture it, but then realized he wouldn't want such an arrogant and egotistical Pokemon in his team anyway.
Lucian slithered over to his Trainer, looking onward at the battle scene with little interest. He just blinked lazily.

Unfortunately for the Kricketot, he was one bide too long as the tackle struck him and he instantly fell on the floor and fainted from the impact of the attack. Luckily he was down and out because if he wasn't, he would have been incredibly dramatic after fainting like this. It was not a good way to go, and he definitely was not and would not have been excited about it at all. All that confidence he had built up just went away like this... He really needed the victory but unfortunately for him, it just wasn't going to come. The Swinub had the better number and thus won over the higher level, and stronger Kricketot. Reeve half-cheered as the Kricketot finally fainted. Sure, it had taken a potion and timing to take the superior Pokemon out, but it had worked right? Nonetheless, this battle would benefit the Swinub greatly. He would have much more experience in fighting as the underdog.
The trainer praised the pig Pokemon, who seemed very happy with his first victory. The blue-haired trainer returned the Pokemon back to his Pokeball to rest after the battle. What an eventful day, surely they could finish their lunch in peace now?
The Slugma had finally arrived and looked hungry. Reeve walked back over to where he had originally sat and took out a Honey-Sandwich for the magma-Pokemon. Lucian ate it gratefully, chomping with his gooey mouth.
Summary: No Capture.

Route 1: The Lone Worker Bee [atrb=border,0,true] ::combee:: Level 5, Male Honey Gather Gust|Sweet Scent Personality: A very forgettable Pokemon, typically sulks in the background, misses his queen. Collecting Honey peacefully

Bother the Combee?
A Combee was having a bit of a difficult time carrying all of the honey he had on him, with the sweet scent drifting all over the place, even attracting some of the other Combee that were in a hurry to feed the queen. He sighed, overloaded with honey honey honey, going much slower than the rest of them. He liked to make one or two trips a day, instead of going back and forth back and forth like the others.
They always got the see the queen, and it really wasn't fair. She was said to be quite beautiful and fair, and her daughter was a looker too. He really wished he could see them, but with all of this sweet smelling honey slowing him down, he just couldn't get to doing it. When all of the Combees were partying with the princess, he was still doing work in the background.
How he wished he could be like some kind of knight, always by her side, but alas, he was always out of sight. The exact opposite of what he wanted. He let out a lonely sigh as he buzzed along, meaning no harm to anyone here.
