Indeed, Reeve did need to think of a new strategy, for this one sure wasn't working. But what could he do? The only move that Pidgey knew at this early stage of his life was Tackle. It was a little tedious to say the least.
The teen thought about other strategies. What would HE do in a situation like this? Well, if he was handicapped like Rez was, he'd have to adapt. They were by some trees and shrubs, so Reeve guessed those could be used to his advantage... But how?
Spores!
The Paras had been releasing spores to paralyze the duo. But why hadn't he been effected himself? Was he immune? No, he couldn't be immune. Resistant, sure. But not immune. His thick shell must have been protecting him from contact with them.
But how to get under that thick shell? Reeve was pretty sure that it's underbelly would be exposed to the spores. Perhaps. Even if Rez could manage to flip over the crab, how would he get spores on him? THE PLANTS! Of course! The plants still had spores on them from when the Paras sprayed his mushrooms into the air.
"Budew! Flip over that Paras! Rez! Use Tackle on that tree!" He yelled, pointing to the tree.
Rez nodded, running straight for the tree. Hopefully, the Budew would use her vines to flip over the bully. The Pidgey collided with the tree, spores drifted down from the leaves, floating towards the Paras. He just needed the Budew to comply. Maybe, just maybe... They could paralyze this thing.
It truly would be a taste of his own medicine!

Certainly the plan sounded good, but the spores were a part of the Paras's body. He wasn't taking them from some other place, and he lived and breathed his his mushroom's spores on his body constantly. There was no way he could get his spores used against him to cause such a sickly reaction. He snickered as they blew over him, though he applauded the Pidgey's efforts.
<Good job, I guess you aren't a tree hugger. You're a tree beater.> He sneered, as if the Pidgey was like him. An insult in a way, since the Paras already knew he was as low as the ground. Low but still better than these fools. The Budew was getting upset with her illness and squeaked as she used another weak Absorb on the Paras. He felt a tickling sensation that kind of hurt, like a mosquito bite, and he glared at the Budew.
<I thought you would've known to shut up and stop it by now.> He spat, scuttling over to her and using another Scratch attack. However, this was different. As she backed off from the pain, one of her venomous stingers touched the Paras's claw, and suddenly he was turning a light shade of purple. What was this? P-Poison? He gasped, trembling from the move as he looked at himself in shock. He thought he was safe, that the Pidgey's plan was flaws, but this still...happened...!?

"Perhaps I'm thinking over this too much..."
[/i] Reeve thought as he witnessed his plan fail fantastically. He narrowed his eyes, finding himself biting his thumbnail nervously. "Sure, Rez is only young, he only knows one move... I shouldn't try and confuse him by using unorthodox techniques..."[/i] The blue-haired boy thought, deciding that going back to basics was the best plan, instead of trying to over-complicate things. "Rez! Use tackle!" Reeve decided, nodding with a new confidence. <Got it!> The Pidgey said, getting up to face the arrogant Paras. He ran forwards, the Paras was still targeting the Budew for some reason. "Hey! Pick on someone your own size!> He yelled as he flew through the air, trying to tackle the foe once more. As the tackle came in from the Pidgey, the Paras quickly moved to the side and avoided the blow. But upon moving to the side, his ribs began to sting a bit and he quickly went down on the floor. This gave the Budew enough time to release a red orb which sucked some more of the Paras' energy while he lay on the floor, injured. >Woah! That sunk in real fast!< He said out loud after feeling the pain from the poison. He was still confused on how it happened but it somehow did take an effect on him and he was paying for it now. He quickly lunged for the Pidgey with his claws after, still believing that Rez was the perpetrator for the poison. >Come here! You will get it now!< He exclaimed with his claws extended out! ::Budew:: Level 6 | Female Natural Cure | Poison Point Absorb | Growth Personality: Sickly, allergic to Stun Spore Hit by nothing! Reeve gritted his teeth, clenching his fist. It just wasn't right. How could a Pokemon with such a cruel nature as the Paras get away with such things? It was unjust. This Paras deserved to be in pain. He had no sympathy for it's poisoned bloodstream.
"Hit 'em again, Rez! Harder!!" The trainer shouted encouragement. These bullies deserved nothing but suffering.
The Pidgey circled the Paras, who suddenly lashed out with his claw. Rez jumped backwards, avoiding the claw by inches. That was close. Whilst the Paras was caught off guard by lunging forwards to hit no target, he would leap forwards, trying to tackle the insect once more. It was good in theory, but how would it pan out in practice?
The Pidgey had gotten lucky. Not only had he avoided the attack, but he was able to move without being halted by his paralysis. Rez was sure that soon the effects would kick in again, leaving him very exposed indeed. He needed to finish this before it was too late.

Despite the kindness of the trainer and the determination of the little Pidgey, poor Budew was seriously beginning to worry about their chances in this fight. In the beginning the grass-type had merely assumed that Paras would behave like all bullies--all bark, no bite, all talk and no action besides the cruel Stun Spores as he hid in the shadows and watched his victims suffer. But he was proving her wrong by withstanding a barrage of attacks, one after the other.
No, no. She couldn't give up now! The trainer had helped her by curing the illness she'd been suffering and the Pidgey was being just as nice. She doubted that the lower-levelled Rez could handle the bully on his own, and she knew she couldn't--he'd probably just paralyse her again and leave her frozen in the middle of the route, easy prey for the next hungry predator to pass. Huffing slightly, Budew forced herself to grow even larger to raise her special attack, then sent the energy sucking orbs toward the Paras.
The attack wasn't very effective due to type advantages of course, but the slew of assaults and poisoning was beginning to take its toll on Paras at last. Not feeling that he had enough energy to head over to the Pidgey and attack, he just sent some more of the yellow spores toward it instead.

The Pidgey watched as the Paras used Stun Spore once more. Rez blinked, he found himself unable to move once more, his entire body rigid and stiff. He cursed under his breath, watching as the spores grew closer.
Yet the yellow fibers meant to paralyze him did nothing, for he was already intoxicated with their venom. It was, in all honesty, a rather stupid move. It had no effect on the Pidgey. All the more, whilst the Paras had used a useless move, the poison in the orange insect's bloodstream would only be doing more damage. It was only a matter of time before it was too much for the crab Pokemon.
Reeve knew this too, watching on with an expression of inward concentration. It was all about time. The Paras only had a limited time left, whereas Rez and Budew had all the time they needed. This would make the Paras much more reckless and hysterical. The Pidgey just needed to keep his cool.

The Paras was rather happy that Pidgey was now out of his way. Now he could focus on this Budew and take her down with what energy he had left. Turning around he suddenly flinched. The poison was taking his energy away yet again. The poison surged through his body, taking away what little energy he had left. At this rate he would be out but he would be taking someone down with him at least. The Budew gave a worried look at the Pidgey. Oh gosh how could she let them interfere like this? Now that Pidgey was suffering because of her. She frowned and then turned to the Paras. A determined look on her face she wouldn't let this last any longer. She would have to end this soon! The Budew focused her energy and used another Absorb. The energy sucking orbs were tossed at the Paras. Latching on the orbs did their job and sucked more energy out of him. Grunting, the Paras wouldn't take that move so lightly. He charged at the Budew and then slashed down on her with his claws. The Scratch attack hit her dead on. The Budew was thrown back a bit but nothing bad, however, her health was going down as well. Reeve grew rapidly annoyed with the seemingly immortal Paras. What did it take to make this thing faint? Did it have some kind of super defense? Was it as tough as it said it was? Regardless of how the situation seemed, the Pokemon couldn't be invincible, even if it seemed so. No, Reeve was being foolish. Of course the thing would faint eventually, especially with all that poison inside it.
"Rez, follow up with Tackle!" The blue-haired Trainer said, feeling a lot like he was a broken record. Still, it was the only option they had.
Rez was feeling more energetic once his limbs had become less tense and he was able to move. He did as he was told, once again trying to tediously tackle the foe by flying through the air towards the orange crab. At least it was weakening.

It seemed as if the Paras had no luck, both the Absorb and Tackle attack hit him at the same time and already being weak made everything else all just worse. He swore that one day he would get vengeance on that stupid budew and that stupid trainer. He fell on the ground though, fainted and unable to move. The trainer would be able to catch him if he wanted. Budew was so happy! She had finally beaten that nasty bully Paras with the help of this trainer and now he had been beaten for good! He wouldn't be able to pick on her as easily now! She walked over to the trainer excitedly and hopped up and down. <That was amazing! Thank you so much! Can I come with you? Finally! The Pidgey had hit the Paras hard enough to knock it out cold. The bird Pokemon cheered victoriously, happy that the bully had been put to justice at last.
The Budew seemed to want to join Reeve's team. The trained contemplated this. She did seem tough and resilient, even if she was rather small and feeble looking. He was sure that with enough training, the little Budew could be fearsome indeed.
Deciding that he didn't want the sorry excuse for a Paras on his team, he grabbed one of the Pokeballs that was strapped to his belt. He knelt down next to the green shrub Pokemon and tapped the ball to her head.

The Budew seemed pleased that the trainer chose to pick her instead of the Paras, and she happily tapped her head against the sphere to activate it. She might've been tired after her battle, but she seemed energetic about trying new things like this. Especially when this guy was so kind to her, and she felt obligated to return the favor.
The sphere hardly rocked and she was captured, free to claim. She would probably make a loyal companion, but she would definitely need some work if she was to be a true battler.
In other news, there was an odd Pokeball laying in the middle of a dirt path. It looked odd there; dirty and out of place, as if something had left it there. Was there something inside of it? Was it empty? It could've even been broken, or a trap.

Reeve beamed. A second successful capture in one day. It sure was going swimmingly. He had only planned to go out for a picnic with Voen and Lucian, instead he ended up adding two new members to his team. Little did he know that he was seconds away from adding a fifth member to his team.
A man came rushing up to him, a package in his hands. He looked like a message-boy or a mailman. His uniform was smart, it looked like he belonged in a hotel or someplace fancy. "Maximilian Reeve?" Reeve blinked. "Yeah?" He nonchalantly replied, scratching behind his ear. The man nodded and thrust the package into his hands, making Reeve sign something, before dashing off.
Reeve was confused. He opened the package to see a lone Pokeball inside. Strange. Now people were sending him Pokémon? He didn't even know what Pokémon it was. A note confirmed that it was a Chimecho named Rexus, and that Reeve was to take care of it.
Who could have sent him such a responsibility? He wondered why there was no name attached. Shrugging, the boy clipped the Chimecho to his belt and walked down the path, Rez still happy enough to follow him around.
They came across another Pokeball, this one was in the middle of the road and wasn't addressed to him. How curious. He bent down and picked the Pokeball up with one hand, looking at it oddly. Why was it here? Did it have a Pokémon in it? Who did it belong to?

Whatever was in the Pokeball seemed to be excited with the sudden human contact, and in great haste the sphere burst open. Odd that someone would leave a Pokemon behind like this, but apparently it wasn't impossible. What emerged landed on the ground with grace, and with ecstatic eyes the Weedle that came out began to look around for his trainer. Finally, his new trainer let him out! They could go on and fight battles like his trainer promised!
<H-Huh? Where is he? Who are you, why do you have my Pokeball?> The Weedle's happy expression went to one of suspicion, eying Reeve up and down with some disapproval. Why would some old guy (to him) have his Pokeball all of a sudden? That was weird. Really weird.
The Weedle didn't look too friendly, and any effort to pick him up would result in frantic squirming. He was going to need to be convinced, because he probably wasn't going to be obedient by returning into the Pokeball.

The Pokeball burst in a flash of light, revealing a rather disappointed looking Weedle. Reeve jumped back in shock, as did the Pidgey. It started blabbering away in Pokespeak, confusing Reeve more than he already was.
The Pidgey tilted his head to one side. <Oh! You have a trainer?> The Pidgey jumped forwards on both feet, hopping along the sandy gravel towards the Bug Pokemon. <I hate to break it to you, but it looks like he's abandoned you...> Rez broke the news darkly, biting his tongue nervously, unsure on how the small olive-colored bug would react. He hoped he wouldn't take it too much to heart.
Then again, the trainer may have just dropped the ball, he may not of just abandoned it. Reeve was thinking the same thing as the Pidgey. He looked left and right for any signs of a trainer, yet he saw no-one. It truly looked like the Weedle had been dropped or abandoned by it's trainer. It was quite sad really, knowing that the Weedle must be broken-hearted at the news.

The Weedle's heart sunk from what the Pidgey told him. Did his trainer really abandon him? The bug type didn't want to believe the bird, but what if he's telling the truth? The worm looked at the flying type's owner then back at the Pidgey. The Weedle smiled, but it was obvious he wasn't happy; his small, beady eyes were hollow and emotionless.
<I guess he did abandon me. That's not surprising. I'm just an useless and pathetic worm that can't do anything right. Even my evolution suck.> The Weedle sighed before pressing the button on his dirty ball and got sucked into the sphere. The poisonous caterpillar was devastated; he only wanted to spend the rest of his life in the capturing device.

The Weedle was heartbroken by the news, and wanted nothing more than to hide inside the Pokeball for the rest of time. The Pidgey felt bad. He wished he told the Weedle that he had been lost as apposed to abandoned.
Reeve hit his lip. Not quite knowing what to do. Obviously he couldn't have the Pokemon, it belonged to someone. Chances were, the trainer had lost the Weedle. For all he knew, Weedle could be the trainer's prize Pokemon, and that the trainer was just as heartbroken as the Weedle was. Reeve was sure that the Weedle hadn't been abandoned!!
Reeve pressed the button, releasing the Weedle out of the ball once more. The blue-haired boy knelt down to be eye-level with the tiny bug Pokemon. "We're going to find your trainer..." Reeve smiled, standing up to full height.
<Yeah, you can hang with us in the meantime! We'll find your trainer!> Rez smiled, jumping up and down excitedly. Hopefully this would cheer up the depressed Weedle.
Reeve began to walk down the path, searching for the trainer. Rez did the same, and beckoned the Weedle to follow. Reeve was just thankful he was dealing with a case of lost Pokemon, rather than another bully.

The Weedle was in Reeve’s possession for now, but it seemed as if the trainer was willing to give him a chance to find the original owner. Though that might be hard if the Weedle told him absolutely nothing about him, but who cares about the small details. There was bound to be a worried trainer around here somewhere, or a cold one that ditched a Weedle for something better. For now there was nothing but the sounds of a jolly Pokemon singing in the distance.
Weedle’s trainer would have to come later, because this one looked as if she was heading for some trouble. It was a young Bellsprout that was singing to her hearts contests, kind of like the theme song for the Smurfs, and she twirled around ungracefully but with lots of fun. She always liked to twirl her leaves around, but they were so plain. Only a simple green for leaves would not do, especially when she loved all colors equally!
She wanted to be a rainbow someday! She was so determined, that she started to hop up and down and run in circles, attempting to make her body a blur to ‘stretch it out’. That only worked if you had a hard time watching things move quickly. Either way, it looked as if she was about to run into various rocks and trees from being so careless.

Reeve decided that it would be best to return the Weedle to his Pokeball whilst he looked for the trainer whom the Pokemon belonged to. If worse came to worst and there was no Trainer to claim the Weedle, then he'd simply have to keep it himself. Sure, there was no room for it in his team, but it would be more than comfortable in his PC with his other caught Pokemon. Right?
The logic sounded good. Reeve put his hands in his pockets as he continued down the path, Rez behind him, still suffering from the spasms of paralysis. Yet the Pidgey still wanted some action. Reeve sighed, Rez didn't know when to call it a day. Still, he admired the bird's attitude.
Reeve spotted a happy-go-lucky Bellsprout not too far off. He glanced at the bird and sighed. "Go on then..." He ushered it with his arms. The Pidgey beamed and ran over to the Bellsprout, launching a surprise attack from behind, hoping to tackle the Pokemon unexpectedly.

Bellsprout was so busy trying to achieve her life's dream of being a rainbow that she didn't even notice the bird and its trainer drawing closer, humming cheerfully to herself as she felt the sun touch her leaves. She must be shining like a rainbow now, right? She debated going over and running in front of a pond or a stream so that she could check how vibrant and pretty she had become, but before that thought process could even finish... she ran headlong into a tree.
Dazed from the impact, she dug her roots into the ground to stop from falling over. <W-Woah,> she said dizzily, shaking her head a little to clear it. Her distraction provided the perfect opening for attack, and seeing as she was still blissfully aware of her approaching assailant, it connected without fail.
<Ahh!> she cried as she was toppled over. Not realising that the other Pokemon had meant to attack her, she gasped over-dramatically and said in a child-like voice, <Oh gosh, I'm so sorry! Did my colourfulness blind you and make you crash into me? I am so sorry!>
